Herb Garden School of Cooking and B&B

About

Guests can feel free to roam around the gardens, porches and bricked arbor area. There is an herb garden surrounding the kitchen to greet you. Breakfast almost always includes some fresh herbs. We are undergoing a process of going green with our cleaning supplies and practices for your health and ours. Chris would be happy to share ideas about this transformation and why. Be mesmerized by a windmill at the pond, or take a nap in a hammock under the pines. There is even a paddle boat for you to enjoy the view and calmness, as many describe. Located far enough away to enjoy the sounds of nature, yet within a half hour of numerous wineries and covered bridges. Take a step back in time at the Jefferson Depot Village just six miles away. This 1848 farmhouse has undergone many renovations and continues to show its charm. The house has been in the family for almost 100 years. Hosts, Chris and Paul enjoy sharing interesting stories about the house. If you are up early enough you can join them to do "chores" taking care of the chicks and newest family members the horses. There is a mini horse, Daisy and a Halflinger, Lady. Both welcome a visit by guests.

Peace and calm in the country

4.8 on September 05, 2017

It was my lucky day when, due to a cancellation, we got a room at this lovely, heart- filled bed-and-breakfast at the last minute. Chris and Paul were gracious, thoughtful, friendly, and open hosts. We really didn't have any specific plans while we were in the area and they immediately suggested lovely parks and even got maps out to show us where all the covered bridges and wineries were. Their farm is a special place to unwind from the stresses of city life. Watching the sun color thier back yard garden was like watching wonderland come to life. Chris is a chef, so lucky us, we got two really delicious breakfasts made of eggs and vegetables that came right out of the yard. The bathroom for our spacious, comfortable room was in the hall, but it was not an inconvenience. Their home is cozy and really felt like home. What makes their place appealing is that it isn't exactly near anything else. What makes their place worth going back to is the love Chris and Paul obviously feel for it and share with their guests.

Wonderful B&B

Just spent two wonderful days in August, 2017 at the Herb Garden B&B. The place is immaculate, the food was delicious and our hosts, Chris and Paul, could not have been more welcoming. A truly relaxing and enjoyable quick get-away, not too far from home, and very reasonably priced.

Lovely getaway

We had such a wonderful anniversary getaway here. Home and setting beautiful. Breakfast was outstanding! Paul and Chris lovely hosts. Highly recommend.

Great, relaxing stay in wine country...

5 on May 09, 2017

My boyfriend and I stayed here this past weekend and had a wonderful stay! Chris and Paul were exceptional hosts and breakfast on both mornings was absolutely delicious. We loved how close this bed and breakfast was to all of the winery's as well as covered bridges and beautiful country scenery. This B&B is such a great value and situated on a huge property. We were definitely surprised at how much there is to do in Ashtabula County and would love to return some day.

A much needed getaway!

Lovely house with a warm atmosphere that allowed us to have some much needed twin-sister time. The hosts, Chris and Paul, were very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was hearty and included a lively conversation with other B&B guests.

Rest in the country....

4.8 on February 07, 2017

My husband, and I had a wonderful stay at the Herb Garden B&B on the weekend of February 3-5, 2017. The facility is immaculate and the accommodations made us feel right at home. Breakfast was simply great, the perfect blend of healthy and good home cooking. Above all, Chris and Paul went our of their way to make sure our needs were met. Their knowledge of the area and their hospitality set the stage and sustained a weekend of rest and enjoyment for us. We've become a bit "enamored" with Ashtabula County, it's wineries, history, good food, and all there is to do. If you are headed that direction, we can heartily recommend Chris, Paul, and the Herb Garden B&B. Next time, we hope to enroll in one of Chris' cooking classes which will certainly be enjoyable and informative. Deborah Finley

Wonderful property, terrific hosts, a great place to relax!

We stayed here for our second time a few weeks ago and had a great night's rest and a delicious breakfast and long chat with Chris and Paul the next morning. They have a beautiful house with lovely gardens and grounds - we stayed on the second floor in the Vineyard room, we like that one, but all of the rooms are beautiful. Chris is a wonderful cook and asked me for our breakfast preferences when I booked our room, and it was as delicious as could be. We like to go to Geneva a few times a year to hit the wineries, and this bed and breakfast is always our first choice.

Great Getaway!!

Our stay at the B&B was delightful, the owners are very friendly and made us feel welcome right away. We were greeted in the driveway and offered coffee and a snack. We had a lovely 2nd floor room and our own private sitting area, it was very comfortable. I would recommend a visit here to everyone. The food was extremely good and there was plenty of it. There was also plenty of beverages and a special chocolate treat for us in the room. :) I look forward to going back again to spend a little more time. The owners are definitely friendly and make it so that you want to come back again. Thanks Chris and Paul for your warm hospitality!!
