Perfect Weekend in the FLX

4.6 on November 15, 2016

Very cozy and relaxing place. A bit random location, but it actually works very well if you are looking to unplug. It is conveniently located to both Seneca and Keuka Lakes. Cathy is a great host, and a wonderful breakfast chef! I would love to return and will definitely recommend to others looking to get away for a weekend.

My Return to a Childhood Memory

5 on November 04, 2016

Having been raised in the Starkey area, it was delightful to return to a childhood memory when we, as children, would ride in Mr. Clapper's old pick up truck in the late '40s from Lakemont to the train station in front of the Starkey House B&B for the daily mail drop as the afternoon train slowly passed by as the mail pouch was tossed onto the wagon. Then back in the pickup and off to the PO in Lakemont where the PostMistress sorted the mail. The Starkey RR Station and the crossings at the Starkey House have so much history, yet many stories can be told from this beautiful front porch or under the walnut trees. After a very comfortable sleep with no 10:00 p.m.train whistles of our chiche pie, we were served a delicious breakfast of homemade chiche and trimmings on the porch over looking the fall colors framing Seneca Lake. Cathy has been a delightful hostess on both visits to The Finger Lakes and plan to return for Colors and Wine next year. Other guests seemed to be delighted with Cathy's suggestions of places to eat or visit. Many were new to me, but saved for next time and a return to many childhood memories.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for telling about your fond memories in such picturesque detail. They add to the nostalgia of the house and this particular area of Seneca Lake. Yes, this was one of the great hubs of activity and the people, unlike yourself have, in most cases forgotten about it or have gone on. I am so pleased that you returned and I always love hearing more stories to add to the larger Starkey Corners history. I look forward to your return. Your sincere friend, Cathy Moskal

Lovely weekend

4.8 on October 31, 2016

Thanks to Cathy (and Arlene)for a wonderful weekend with my college friends in a very homey atmosphere with delicious breakfasts, cozy rooms and pleasant conversation. Thanks for the coupons and suggestions for where to go. We enjoyed ourselves immensely!!

Innkeeper Response
Guests these days really want to have proper guidance about the places to go, see, eat, etc. of the area. I am lucky, in that I am able to pass on to you all of that from my own vantage point and also from the opinions of others (hundreds per year) that stay at the Starkey House. I always ask for feedback, not only on what I provide during your getaway, but on what your restaurant, museum, winery, brewery, and other experiences have been so that future visitors may benefit. Thanks for your words here and for taking the time. Cathy

Wonderful place to stay

5 on September 25, 2016

We recently stayed 3 nights and it is a wonderful place to stay, very clean, quite and comfortable. Cathy made you feel special from the minute you arrived, and is very knowledgeable on the area and could easily recommend things to do or places to see/eat/drink. Her love of cooking and use of local ingredients showed in everything she prepared for breakfast and presented it beautifully. Each night we would sit on the porch, take in the beautiful view, sip a glass of wine and relax. We would highly recommend this B & B. - J & J from MN

Innkeeper Response
Your recommendation and kind review are much appreciated. I do hope to see you again! It is beautiful here any time of year, and I am opened throughout the winter, except for a couple of weeks when I am away. Cathy

Signature Dish

European-style Crepes
Crisp, thin, and deliciously golden, rolled with cream cheese filling, or berries. These scrumptious delicate pancakes are hand made and can be topped with fresh strawberries, blueberries, or other available fruits from my garden or local farm markets. Crepes can served alone or along with an egg dish of the day. They are especially delicious accompanied by herbal teas or freshly ground and brewed coffee.
