The Firehouse Inn is located in the foothills of western North Carolina, one block from historic downtown Rutherfordton. Just a short drive to Lake Lure, NC (home of the movie Dirty Dancing), Chimney Rock, and Tryon International Equestrian Center. Within easy driving distance of Asheville (home of the historic Biltmore Estate), you will find an endless array of things to see and do. The 1925 Town Hall and Firehouse has been completely renovated and restored. The level of service, ambiance, and bounteous breakfasts make it a perfect destination.

As soon as I walked into my Room at The Firehouse Inn, I felt as if I could stay a week! The room, private bath, and furnishings were beautiful, and meticulously clean. The bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for a very long time. One has to have breakfast here before you can fully appreciate the excellent dining experience you will enjoy. The food was amazing, served fresh, and hot, by very charming and hospitable staff. I could not eat it all! The breakfast atmosphere was beautiful, bright, serene........an excellent way to start the day. I traveled to NC from Ohio for a Wedding. After being fortunate in finding this GEM, I plan to return to enjoy/explore the area further, and will definately stay at The Firehouse Inn when I return to the area!
Wow. Thanks for your kind words. We can't wait to have you back.

My husband and I have stayed numerous times at The Firehouse Inn. It is a beautifully decorated and clean inn that is just a walk away from downtown restaurants and bars. The rooms are very comfortable, and the innkeeper and staff are very nice and accommodating. Thank you for a wonderful place to stay! The inn is quickly becoming our second home!
Thank you for your kind words. We are so glad you enjoy your stays with us. I will be sure and let the staff know how much you appreciate them. We hope to see you again soon. Kitty

We were going to Rutherfordton to pick up a new puppy and found this listing in Rutherfordton. This place is a jewel and Kitty, the Innkeeper, is very helpful and caring. Even before we arrived she contacted me to make sure the room we selected would work for us, and adjusted the reservation accordingly. On our arrival she upgraded us even further. We stayed In two beautifully decorated rooms that could not have been cleaner or more comfortable. Great mattresses and beautiful bedding, plush towels and nice toiletries — you could not ask for more. The next morning Donna made us a wonderful hot breakfast to order wth lovely berries and strawberries on the side. It was a wonderful experience hat we hope to repeat again soon.
Thank you for your kind words. It was great to chat with you and I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to your return.

We could not have been more pleased with our stay. Our hosts were so welcoming and the décor and atmosphere of the Inn was stellar. We arrived a bit early and that was not a problem whatsoever. We also had to depart 30 mins before the posted breakfast time ( work related) but Donna was so generous that she offered to make our breakfast one half hour early. Our food was delicious. The feel of the Inn is peaceful and it is very quiet ( while being in town) Our room was breathtaking. The bed was so comfy and the linens were so very nice. I felt immersed in the 1920s yet with every modern comfort. I cannot think of anything that could have been improved upon. The Firehouse Inn is a perfect blend of history, comfort, elegance, style and charm. I look forward to returning again and again.
Thank you for your kind words. We consider Donna to be a jewel. I'm so glad you enjoyed your stay. We hope you come back soon.

The Firehouse Inn is unique, both in it's architecture, design and service. A historic firehouse transformed into a hotel, the rooms are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully appointed. The breakfast is second to none. I've stayed here multiple times, and will continue to do so. It's a real treat.
Adorned in elegance, Bedroom 3 at The Firehouse Inn is one of our favorites. The simplistic style and bright colors create a sense of comfort and refreshment. Choose to lounge on the Queen size bed, sit by the fireplace, or do some work away from the office at the desk. This bedroom also offers a spacious loft with two twin beds suitable for children. In the bathroom, there is a standard tub and a shower.
This is considered to be the Master Suite at The Firehouse Inn. It offers a spacious place to relax at the desk, on the king-size bed, or to drink coffee and watch TV by the fireplace. There is also a large walk-in closet in which to hang your personal belongings. In the private bathroom is a shower, full-sized jacuzzi, 2 sinks and ample closet space.
Room 6 is a large "loft style" apartment on the ground floor of the inn. It is accessed from the street and has a ramp access if needed. Within the suite you will find a comfortable living room with color television and comfortable furniture. There is a desk and chair with appropriate lighting for those busy business travelers. A table with 4 chairs provides ample space for dining. Included in the suite is a microwave oven and a small refrigerator. A Keurig coffee machine is also included for your convenience. Guests staying in this suite can enjoy a continental style breakfast in the privacy of their own space without needing to worry about accessing the dining room upstairs. The bedroom has a King bed and there is a separate bathroom with shower. Another area has 2 vanity basins.
Surround yourself with shades of red and gold in this private and quiet room. Relax with a book or magazine in the comfortable armchair. The room features a Queen bed, armchair, flat screen television and a private bathroom with walk in shower.
Bedroom 2 is a beautiful room with a high ceiling, a loft area above with two twin beds suitable for children. for guest, and a fireplace. The Queen-size bed provides a great place to spread out, or lounge in one of the chairs and watch television. The bathroom has a walk-in shower and a large sink area.
Bedroom 4 at The Firehouse Inn offers the most privacy of any of the rooms here. Although it doesn't have a fireplace, it excellerates in coziness and warmth. It's high ceilings are accentuated by rich, warm colors. It's intimate setting provides an inviting, relaxing environment for you to take advantage of. Get a good night's sleep on our king-size bed with a leather headboard, and enjoy the comfort of a private bathroom with a walk-in shower.
