Bed and Breakfast at Mallard Bay

I had a fantastic time here! The bed and breakfast is in a lovely location and you cannot beat the price. 10/10 would stay here again!

Relaxing, home-like feel.

5 on June 22, 2018

We loved our 3 nights at Phoebe's B&B and look forward to a return visit. She is on-site which is nice if there are issues, but we encountered none. The home is in a beautiful, quiet neighborhood backing up to the Intracoastal Waterway and within easy access to beaches, Wilmington, Topsail, etc. Visiting with Phoebe and getting her insights into area things to do, restaurants, etc. as well as her own travel experiences was our favorite part of the stay. She welcomingly provides beach chairs, umbrellas, water for excursions and has kayaks for your use as well. As a volunteer at the sea turtle sanctuary she steered us in that direction and we found it to be a wonderful visit. Loved our stay and eagerly plan to return.

Wonderful experience, as always!

Phoebe accomodated us on rather short notice, and provided an experience that was calm, quiet, beautiful and soothing. We were attending a family funeral, so the quiet and beautiful surroundings were greatly appreciated. For some reason the ratings above won't let me put "outstanding" on all the choices but Onsite Dining. This is a B&B, so it's breakfast only. Phoebe provides a superb breakfast if you desire breakfast. We had so many obligations that we decided not to have breakfast, and yet Phoebe still got up to make sure we had a fresh pot of coffee every morning. Phoebe is unfailingly kind. We have stayed with her several times and her home is our residence preference during the times we are only staying for a few days. We will be back as long a Phoebe is in business!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you both so much for a good review. I always enjoy your visits, and feel as if we are good friends. Phoebe

Low Country Road Trip

3.0 on September 21, 2016

My wife and I along with our two dear friends from Western Australia recently stayed at the Inn at Mallard Bay. This would be a two night stop on our Road Trip to the Carolina Low Country. After meeting Phoebe we knew this was a good choice. Phoebe, the innkeeper and owner of the property is a sweet lady and made us feel at home right from the start. After getting the lay of the land both inside and out, we asked Phoebe to join us for dinner. She recommended a great seafood restaurant and after taking the on-site kayaks for a short cruise along the waterway, we cleaned up, changed and the five of us were off to dinner. Phoebe prepared breakfast for us each day and as some of the other reviews stated, her blueberry pancakes were the best! Phoebes home is pretty much set up for a single person or a couple but because our friends were traveling with us, the pullout sofa in the living room provided the room necessary for a good nights rest for our additional travelers. The four of us really enjoyed our stay with Phoebe. She and her sweet B&B will be one of the finer memories on our road trip thru the Carolinas.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review, but I am confused about the 3 star rating which lowers my overall rating. I would hope if you were not pleased, you would let me know. Phoebe

Sisters' Week

5 on April 17, 2015

My 2 sisters and I stayed the week at Mallard Bay B&B. We were born in Wilmington but moved away when we were children. Now that we are all past retirement we enjoy returning to the area just to reminese. We didn't want to be in a hotel and not on a beach so Mallard Bay was perfect for us. Phoebe is just a perfect hostess. We were treated to delicious breakfast each morning and carried home several delightful recipes that Phoebe was so gracious to share with us. The house is immaculately clean and we had everything we needed. Phoebe recommended a great restaurant for us and even a wonderful day spa that proved to be a highlight of our trip. We have great memories from our trip and made a wonderful new friend. Thanks, Phoebe, for a delightful week.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your great review. I am so glad that you were able to do that. I enjoyed meeting all three of you and am looking forward to your next visit.

Thoroughly pleasant experience!

My husband and teenage daughter stayed at B&B at Mallard Bay over Labor Day weekend. It was a great value but the best part was meeting our hostess. She truly loves and knows the area and welcomes you into her home. We started each day with a relaxing and delicious cooked breakfast and delightful conversation. Our daughter loved staying with her and enjoyed checking crab traps. Highly recommended - just a short drive to Topsail Island and beach activities!

The Right Place to Stay

4.2 on July 24, 2014

We had a very pleasant stay here. It's away from the crowds for peaceful nights and beautiful mornings -with delicious breakfasts, and close enough to beaches, water activities, sight-seeing trips and Wilmington tourist attractions. Phoebe is a very charming and gracious hostess.

A wonderful place near Wilmington

5 on July 23, 2014

Phoebe and her place are just wonderful. She is thoughtful about details, makes an incredible breakfast (tailored reasonably to your wants and needs) and knows where to go for good food, beaches… She has chairs and umbrellas for the beach, kayaks for the waterway out back and other things you might need. The bed is very comfortable and on the firm side. The separate sitting room with TV allows for some individual privacy as well. Add the sun porch overlooking the water and this is a real bargain.

Spring 2014 getaway

Had a fabulous stay at the Bed and Breakfast at Mallard Bay. We took our two young children with us and it was just a wonderful time. Phoebe was very accommodating and had toys for the kids to play with at the house and toys for them to take to the beach too! and of course the breakfasts were wonderful as well! Will definitely go back again!

Innkeeper Response
thanks so much. Having you and the girls here was delightful.
