My wife and I really enjoyed our visit to Asheville, especially due to our stay at The Lion and the Rose B&B. The location was close to downtown Asheville, Biltmore Estates, Biltmore Village and the Grove Park Inn (location of the National Gingerbread House Contest. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the living and sitting rooms. The breakfast was outstanding for both days, particularly the Almond Streussel French Toast. The innkeeper went out of her way to accommodate my wife’s dietary restrictions ( gluten free). Overall, our stay at The Loon and the Rose was a great place to stay.

The Lion and the Rose really felt like a home away from home. The house is beautiful and an absolute joy to be in. There are fresh made cookies, snacks, and beverages at your disposal at anytime. The owner even altered our breakfast because we don't eat meat, and the changes she made were delicious! We also loved being able to walk downtown at night and walk around the beautiful neighborhood in the morning. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it!

Lisa is a very welcoming host and warm person, who happens to be a fantastic chef. We had a great time and never wanted to leave. We'll be back!

We don't usually stay at B&Bs but we were given a gift card and I think we chose wisely. This B&B is located perfectly within everything. It is immaculate and beautifully decorated. The snack pantry for guests is awesome and well appreciated. The breakfasts had fancy names that left us wondering if it would be good. Boy, we worried for nothing. The food was delicious! Lisa, the owner, has created a great place to stay and you have all the privacy in the world. We thoroughly enjoyed this home.

We just completed a multiday stay at the Lion and the Rose B&B and had a great time! The property is lovely and welcoming, the breakfasts incredible (Lisa was in the Pillsbury Bakeoff several years ago and has a great variety of super breakfast and a pantry of thoughtful stacks and water/soda). The yard is lovely and beautifully maintained with a lovely firepit area that just beckons for some chilly weather! Asheville never disappoints and this will be a great stop for our next visit as well!

The Lion and the Rose B&B is truly outstanding. The house is comfortable, interestingly decorated and clean. The canopied bed in our room was a treat. The breakfasts were delicious and Inkeeper Lisa is a gracious host.

The Lion and the Rose has everything one can want for, class, charm and the best breakfast ever at the most beautifully set table. One night was not enough and we hope to return some day to take advantage of the pleasant living area, books to read and delicious chocolates all over the place.

We stayed at the Lion and the Rose in Asheville at New Years, and it was so nice. The place is beautiful inside and out, but it was very special during the holiday season. Its a great value, and seems more reasonably priced than some of the other inns. The innkeepers are great and so is the gourmet breakfast. We couldnt have asked for a better place to stay!

My husband and I stayed at the inn in November. The inn is absolutely beautiful. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. We had a sitting area that we both enjoyed. We were able to watch a few movies and relax. The inn has many amenities that I have not seen in other places. My favorite is their pantry area where they have complimentary water, soft drinks, coffee tea, and some sweet treats. The service was excellent. I will recommend this inn to others that come visit Asheville.

I can't imagine a more satisfying B&B experience. Beautiful and spacious home with a large porch and comfortable rooms. In addition to the gourmet breakfasts, Jim and Linda offer a frig full of drinks, all kinds of snack and homemade cookies. They are wonderful hosts in every respect, even bringing coffee to your room in the morning. We look forward to a return visit with them.

My husband and I have enjoyed a nearly annual trip to Asheville to visit friends and the Biltmore Estate, and especially enjoy the Montford B&B's. The Lion & Rose is in a convenient location and the gardens are highly impressive compared to many Asheville B&B's. The owners were gracious, and sizable breakfast was worth its weight in gold! We would both highly recommend The Lion & Rose as a perfect taste of Asheville.

Our room was nice. The breakfasts were large and tasty. Jim and Linda were friendly and made good restaurant suggestions. The best part about this inn is its convenience to everything we wanted to do in Asheville! We recommend the Lion and the Rose as a great "home base" for anyone touring the Biltmore House and shopping/dining/touring Asheville. The visitor center is within walking distance!

Used the B&B as a base to visit Biltmore. Great Jamaican style restaurant just down the road. Rooms a little smaller than expected. Nice historic district.

Lion and the Rose embraced us in the most wonderful way! Our room was large, yet cozy, with a gas fireplace and most comfortable king bed. Our hosts provided cheerful and gracious service, with a very generous breakfast in a wonderfully appointed and elegant dining room. We are eager to return, next time bringing family and friends to share in this terrific Five-Star experience. Edgar F. Heiskell, III, Charleston, W.Va.

We stayed at the Lion and The Rose for the first time this past weekend. We were hesitant to stay at another B&B since our first B&B experience was far less than desirable. However, this was a wonderful experience for us. The owners, Jim and Linda, greeted us at the door and gave us a quick tour. The house is well-decorated and impeccably clean. Our room, Fannie Rice, was clean, well-kept and decorated very nicely. The bed was comfortable and had nice linens. Our room also had a DVD player and the owners had a good selection of DVDs that were all available for guest use. There are also Asheville-area brochures for things to do, as well as games and playing cards for guest use. Another nice touch is that they also have this one room stocked with goodies, snacks, sodas, bottled water, port, sherry as well as wine glasses and corkscrews. This was greatly appreciated when we wanted to enjoy a bottle of wine in the rock garden at sunset as we had the glasses and corkscrew available. As for breakfast – our compliments to the chef (Jim)! Not only are you served breakfast on fine china, but the food is gourmet. Jim’s menu consisted of a grapefruit half, sausage and then “Hummingbird Pancakes”, which was a new recipe he was trying out. It was superb! Basically pancakes with pineapple and coconut and some type of creamy-sauce topping. Jim and Linda definitely run a superb operation, and they were absolutely accommodating in every way. We will definitely be staying there again.

I just wanted to tell you how perfect our stay at this beautiful B & B was in early May 2008. Their hospitality is unmatched, the accomodations impeccable. Not only were the rooms and the common areas immaculately prepared, but the little touches like the 24/7 access to snacks, coffee, etc were unexpected and much appreciated. Add to that the personal coffee service to the rooms each morning, the very attentive staff, free wi-fi, and I can't think of a place I'd more likely return to. If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely stay at the Lion & Rose, and I'll recommend the same to any friends who are considering a trip their way.

My husband and I choose the Lion and the Rose for our honeymoon accommodations. We had privacy and luxury in the Craig-Toms Suite, enjoyed wonderful breakfasts interesting conversations with other guests at breakfast, and like our hosts and the B&B staff very much. Somehow, they created the perfect combination of warm hospitality and space. Asheville and the mountains - beautiful and deeply engaging. We recommend this highly!
