Disappointed

2.0 on July 03, 2017

First, the positive: The Crofting Inn is conveniently located a short walk from town. Scott and Gail met us at the door when we arrived and immediately showed us to our room. Breakfast was ready on time each day, the crepes were very good, and Gail included unique and healthy local items. There was plenty of hot water for showers. On the negative side: The room was small and dusty with no windows. We were advised to open the door to the balcony for cool air, but there was no screen to keep out flying insects. There was no cross ventilation unless we also left the door to the hallway open. There was no shelf or counter space in the bathroom, except for a very small, very dusty shelf that was full of decorative items. The bathroom exhaust fan and light did not work, and we were simply told "no, they do not work." The electrical outlet in the bathroom was also not functioning. The toilet had a black stain under the rim that was about an inch deep and looked like it had not been cleaned in years. Clean towels were available the first day, but were not replaced on the second day, per policy. The only bath mat was a decorative rug that did not appear to be clean. In summary, Scott and Gail seem to be nice people, but the Inn is in need of a good cleaning and a good deal of maintenance. If we return to Cloudcroft, we will look for other accommodations.

Enjoyable Stay

4.0 on June 14, 2017

Very enjoyable. Wonderful owners. All rooms have a balcony to sit and enjoy the cool mountain air and listen to the birds. Great front porch for sitting in the evening and morning with coffee in hand. Easy walk to town shops and dining. Would stay here again. Good price. Breakfast OK. Just not crazy about "turkey bacon and sausage".

Cozy Inn-Great Experience

3.4 on May 19, 2017

Overall, we had a wonderful stay at the Crofting Inn. The inn keepers are fabulous people that made us feel very welcome and at home. We love the bed and breakfast experience and try to stay at them whenever possible. This one is better than most we have experienced. The Inn is cozy and charming with an eclectic mix of antiques (very similar to our own home). We rated cleanliness a "3" as the toilet, sink, shower, linens, and tableware were all very clean, however the inn is not spotless. So if you have a problem with dust on the baseboards, stairs, etc it might not suit you, but for us that wasn't a "deal breaker". Breakfast was freshly made daily with fruit provided, however not the most filling of breakfasts. We have stayed at other inns where inn keepers inquired after any allergies, preferences, etc... on arrival to accommodate. We were not asked--and I did not think it would be a problem since I indicated with our reservation that I have an allergy to fowl, and sadly turkey bacon was served the first morning. There was no meat served the second morning. Breakfasts were more "lighter fare", which is not our preference but what was served was tasty (minus the turkey bacon in which I did not partake).

Wonderful Stay at a Charming Bed and Breakfast

4.0 on July 31, 2016

My husband and I (along with our 2 year old and 4 month old) recently stayed at the Crofting Inn. The home was beautifully decorated and filled with all kinds of treasures. There's a cozy front porch where we spent our mornings drinking coffee. Gail prepared a wonderful breakfast each morning and Scott provided extra attention to our little ones. He even spent one breakfast on the floor playing with the kids while we enjoyed french toast, turkey sausage and fruit. Our room (#6) had a king size bed, nice shower and private balcony. A cot was provided for our toddler. We enjoyed being able to easily walk to the center of town. This is a gem. SO glad we stumbled upon it online

Wonderful B&B in Cloudcroft

5 on June 29, 2016

We loved our night in Cloudcroft largely due to the beautiful comfortable rooms at this B&B. We enjoyed chatting with the other guests and owners in the living room. The breakfast was ample with yummy local cherries to top it off. Next time through we'll probably want to spend an extra night or two.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Crofting Inn right after Thanksgiving it was wonderful! The house was very well kept, our rooms was very comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. Gail and Scott are great hosts, I felt very comfortable with them right away. The location was gorgeous as well, we didn't get any snow that weekend but greatly enjoyed our visit anyway. I would love to go back and visit! -Lily

just what you need

Rambling house in the trees in Cloudcroft, which is a very touristy little town in the Sacramento mountains here in NM. Comfortable beds, great breakfast, birds in the trees outside, wonderful atmosphere, park and other nice places to walk nearby. I only took a point off of "service" because of the owners' yappy chihuahua, but the barking episode wasn't that long, and not after bedtime.

Cute little bed and breakfast. We have stayed in many and always enjoy engaging in conversation with the operators.

Magic in the Mountains

My husband, grandson and I spent four fulfilled days and nights at The Crofting Inn. Gail and Scott are charming hosts. They are both very accommodating and make you feel at home. We felt like family by the time we left. Breakfasts were delicious! The establishment is located within walking distance of practically everywhere you want or need to go. We have already made reservations for next December.
