My husband and I have stayed in a number of B&Bs. This one is outstanding. The home and grounds are extremely well kept and clean. The rooms are all elegant (including the common rooms), the period furniture is lovely. There is a look of class, harmony, and gracefulness to all the rooms (including the bathroom) while also being welcoming and comfortable. We stayed in the "Margaret's Retreat" room, which was sufficiently large to include 2 chairs and a small table, a desk & chair, and an armoire without feeling cluttered--instead, there was a sense of spaciousness which I have rarely found in the other B&Bs I've stayed at. The bed was very comfortable and in top condition (so there were no worn areas), with soft clean sheets, and down pillows. Everything in our room, including the robes, was of high class and in new (or like-new) condition. The bathroom was fantastic--it reminded me of a spa. It was very spacious and had a large whirlpool tub, with a selection of scented liquids that could be added to the water. When I set the water to hot in order to fill the tub, the water came out hot immediately, even though we were on the second floor and outside temperatures were in the 50's. I have been in a whirlpool before that was just a modified bathtub--no comparison to the bathtub at Halsey House! Not only was it luxurious, but all my travel aches just melted away--it was heavenly. My husband decided to take a bath and use the whirlpool as well, and had the same experience that I did. At home, we both prefer to take showers instead of baths, so this says a lot for the whirlpool and its setting at Halsey House. Our hosts were friendly, helpful, accommodating, entertaining, and knowledgeable about the house's history as well as the town. We enjoyed talking to both of them. Our breakfast was fabulous, cooked and served by our hosts, and included a selection of delicious artisan breads made by a nearby bakery.

We have been to the Halsey House B&B several times and each was a better experience than its predecessor. We have stayed in three different rooms, all of which were large, spotlessly clean, warm and inviting with great pillow top mattresses that provide for a restful sleep. Some had whirlpool tubs, others had great two person showers and all had fireplaces or waterfalls and robes. We almost wanted to just stay in the room but the common areas were equally inviting, especially the porch and the firepit area where we enjoyed some wine and cheese purchased on our daytrips. KC offers up a delicious breakfast and Mitch is a font of knowledge about the area and offers great suggestions for off site excursions.

My friend and I stayed at the Halsey House over the Columbus Day holiday and it was wonderful! Each evening after a day of hiking or wine trails, we spent relaxing by the firepit with good company next to the lovely waterfall on the side yard. The breakfasts served each morning were truly 5 star. They not only tasted amazing but the presentation was beautiful too. Making the destination even better was the innkeepers KC and Mitch's relaxed and fun personalities. Thanks to both for a lovely weekend. We will be back!

The Halsey House is just beautiful. The private rooms and bathrooms are wonderful. We had the privilege of staying in both Margret's Retreat and Indulgence. Indulgence truly was indulgent!! The bathroom was fantastic. All of the rooms are beautiful. The home is warm and the innkeepers are so hospitable. I have dietary issues and they were very open and genuinely interested in finding the best breakfast for me. We got to visit with their pets. I highly recommend this beautiful break from regular life.

One cannot feel umpampered with Mitch & KC'S attention to your smallest request. Our recent stay began with the front door "magically" opening as we traversed up the welcoming, flowering path. Mitch greeted us as if we were old friends whom he had been waiting to visit with again. Although the house and furnishings are elegant and refined, we felt that we could be very much at home and kick back and relax. No stuffiness here. We were free to utilize the property ,except the kitchen--KC'S sanctuary. And oh what delights came forth from there!! Each morning began with a gorgeously set table of fine china and silver. Then KC'S magic from the kitchen would arrive. And if your tastes run to something simpler than her gastronomic offerings, that request is honored in a flash. Our room was a delightful sunny respite with a beautifully appointed bath. A welcome retreat after a busy day. I would recommend Halsey House to anyone who wants to get away and relax in an elegant style, yet feel comfy enough to pad around in socks & PJ's. Just think of KC and Mitch as good friends with a really, REALLY nice house!!

From the first moment I spoke with KC on the phone, both she and MItch were very friendly, knowledgeable, accessible and incredibly helpful in planning our trip to the Finger Lakes region. Their home has been lovingly restored and attention to detail is phenominal. From relaxing in our room to feeling breeze in our hair on the deck to the warmth of a fire on the patio, we couldn't have asked for better atmosphere. The breakfasts we had were scrumptiously outstanding. But most importantly, Mitch and KC took time to talk to their guests, suggest places to visit, or simply introduce us to their extended family of feathers and four legged friends, as we too are animal lovers. (Not to worry, the feathered and four legged friends are kept only in KC and Mitch's living quarters for those who may be skiddish around animals.) They are in a great location for both the Cayuga and the Seneca Wine Trails, along with the Taughannock State Park, Ithica and several other neat places of interest. We thank them for an outstanding stay and look forward to seeing them in the future!

My husband and i stayed in "Margaret's Retreat" for our honeymoon, and i can't imagine anywhere else that could have been better! KC and Mitch were warm, friendly and attentive, the room was absolutely luxurious, the meals were gourmet quality, and the jacuzzi was divine. The city of Ithaca (only about 10 minutes away) has a lot to offer as well for the days you can get yourself out of bed! Last but not least, you MUST see Taughannock Falls. Beautiful even in January when the trees are bare, and its only a few minutes away.
