Being an older home we knew what to expect - low slanted ceiling in our upstairs bedroom and one had to be careful not to bump their head. The stairs weren't mentioned - quite steep and narrow, no handrail - for elderly people who may have mobility issues it should be known. My hubby had a recent knee replacement and had to be very cautious. I was sneezing a fair bit while there, wasn't until we left and checked the room that I noted under the bed hadn't been vacuumed and wiped in a very long while. Having said the above, the grounds were impeccable, ample parking, delicious breakfast with lots of variety and home recipes, gracious, informative and kind hosts, comfortable beds, lots of hot water for showers. Suggestion: have a Keurig available in the sitting room, would have been nice to have a hot coffee or tea in the common room after a long day sightseeing. Extra comforter in the bedroom for cool nights. Put a slim handrail on the stairs.

We both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Very welcoming B&B with very nice lounge and outdoor spaces available for guests. House is lovely old onel, well furnished, but is not Lakeside - rather across the road from the lake but with lake views. Breakfast was very good, and Louise provided extremely good advice on things to do and see. We had Sunrise room with external bathroom (no shampoo but I could try a true Victorian experience and washed my hair with soap-modern shampoos are better!). Need to use car as no where really to walk to.

The B&B was a beautiful old home (built in 1837), white with black shutters. The grounds displayed several meticulously kept and beautiful landscaped gardens. Each room within was tastefully decorated, all with a plethora of amazing antique pieces of all sizes and purposes. Dale and Louise Zabel were wonderful "innkeepers". We had a wonderful 3 course breakfast our first morning there. First they brought us delicious poppy seed bread with marmalade, choice of juices & coffee or tea. Then we had fresh fruit cup, plus refills as wanted. Last but definitely not at all least, we each enjoy 2 fantastic coddled eggs, plus 4 pieces of bacon, and choice of English muffins, toast or bagels, again with any wanted refills. We felt very pampered and 'coddled' by meals' end. We would have loved to eat there the next morning, also, but had previously made plans for breakfast with a large group of friends. We enjoyed chatting with Dale and Louise, and still marvel at their ability to take such good care of the B&B, and us as well. They were wonderful hosts.

In spite of the unexpected rain and sleet on the evening we arrived at Aunt Louise's B & B, we had a most enjoyable stay in the Tree Tops room The view of the lake the next morning was lovely, bright and inspiring. Our gourmet breakfast of coddled eggs, bacon, fruit, special juices, coffee, and homemade sweet breads was wonderful! Dale and Louise were outstanding hosts and made us feel like family with their warm hospitality. Our room was tastefully decorated, comfortable and peaceful. We highly recommend this historic B & B and look forward to a longer stay next time we are in Skaneateles.
5 on June 01, 2016
Our very first B&B experience turned out to be amazing!! Louise and Dale go out of their way to make you feel so very welcome in their home. The interior is beautifully decorated, and the soft background music creates a very relaxing atmosphere. Our "Lake View" room was roomy, clean, and very inviting. The bottle of wine left for us was a wonderful extra bonus, as we were on our Honeymoon. Our stay allowed us to enjoy 3 homemade breakfasts, which were beyond incredible!! Not only did Louise and Dale present our meals so wonderfully, they gave a brief explanation of each of their creations as they were served. Words can not say enough regarding the hospitality we enjoyed, the friendliness we received, and the atmosphere we loved. Again, in a word, AMAZING!!

A true get-away! Wine and chocolate in front of a roaring fire with best friends in a warm, homey setting. The rooms were exceptionally clean and Dale and Louise couldn,t have been nicer or more accommodating. Their knowledge of local restaurants and history was spot on! We have been there for two years in a row and plan annual return visits! Love, love, love

Our party consisted of an 80 year old grandmother, 52 year old daughter and 19 year old college senior granddaughter. Aunt Louise and Dale made each of us feel so comfortable in their charming beautifully appointed period "Lake House" filled with family antiques that seemed to come alive with their storied history ....especially the "headless bride!" The warmth of their fireplace, delicious breakfast with its "secret ingredient," beautifully served and their colorful grounds covered with leaves each added to our reluctance to leave being a part of their family if only for a little while. Dale and Louise are such delightful people. They are perfect innkeepers, and you should stay here just to meet them. However, there are lots of other reasons to visit Aunt Louise's. Breakfast is delicious. We really enjoyed the other guests. The rooms are immaculate. Most of all, there is easy access to the lovely village of Skaneateles without all of the noise and traffic.

Inn keepers were very friendly and prepared delicious breakfasts. Very comfortable accommodations and close to town but far enough away to be quiet.
4.6 on July 18, 2014
Built in the mid-1800's, the B&B exemplified the service and comfort one would expect from staying at an authentic old house. We enjoyed our host and hostess, and our three night stay was a comfortable retreat after a long day of actvities. Our only disappointment was that the B&B was not right on the lake, but our room did have views of the lake, and you could see the lake from their strategically placed outdoor seating. It was one of the better B&B's we have stayed at over the years.
4.8 on July 01, 2014
A great way to start exploring the Finger Lakes region - clean, cozy, and comfortable. Lovely gardens and view of the lake; each bedroom has its own bathroom. Easily accessible from town, with very warm, friendly, low-key hosts. Homemade breakfast was absolutely delicious (sample: lemon poppy seed bread, strawberries and bananas with mint, artichoke quiche, sausage, croissants, fresh juices and good, strong coffee) served at a communal table with genial conversation and pretty china. A romantic and intimate setting to create new memories.

We weren't out of the driveway before we were brainstorming about how to get back to Aunt Louisa's. Wonderful homey feeling and delicious creative food. Treetops room was great. Louise and Dale were gracious and entertaining hosts. I'm sure that the other two couples we shared breakfast with will surely agree. All were sad to end the stay even though they had full interesting days planned.

My wife and I would certainly stay at Aunt Louise's B&B again.

I stayed at Aunt Louise's Lake House in Skaneateles 8/16/13 - 8/18/13. My stay there was wonderful. Louise and Dale are wonderful inn-keepers: friendly, informative, and helpful. The common areas and my room were clean and comfortable. The inn was remarkably quiet despite the fact that it was full. Breakfast was delicious and quite filling. The inn is located about 4 miles south of Skaneateles, across the road from the lake. This means that it is in a quiet location with easy access to the attractions in town. I fully intend to stay here the next time I am in Skaneateles.

We stayed at Aunt Louise's in April 2013 and found it to be just perfect for us! The owners, Dale and Louise were most gracious and friendly. We enjoyed a nice bottle of wine while overlooking the lake across the street, and drove into town for dinner, which was only about 5 minutes from the B&B. Our room was well appointed and cozy, the bed was sooooo comfy, and we had a private bathroom. Louise and Dale served up a wonderful breakfast consisting of waffles, homemade breads, bacon, fruit, yogurt, granola-the works! We drove off well-rested, and well-fed! :-) We would definitely stay here again! Jeanine and Doug

This was our first stay at Aunt Louise's and our second overnighter in Skaneatelas. We have visted on previous occasions and are familiar with the area. Aunt Louise's is a very quaint and charming Inn and although our stay was short, Louise and Dale were very friendly and made us feel at home. We arrived Friday evening and due to family committments had to leave well before breakfast on Sunday (Dale made sure that the coffee was ready for us). Our breakfast with the other guests on Saturday was enjoyable. The Inn is a few miles outside of town and the grounds are lovely. There was a great view of the lake from our room ("Treetops") across the road. The bathroom was large, but as with most B&B's we've stayed at could use some additional counterspace for toiletries. Would like to stay here in the warmer months in order to enjoy all it has to offer.

Louise & Dale had a superb knowledge of the town and what it had to offer; including directing us to sumptuous meals at Rosalie's Cuicina & The Sherwood Inn, a sight seeing cruise on the lake and the local winery. Breakfast was served with fineze in old English style, beautifully laid table with the finest of crockery & cutlery. Thank you for a great stay Louise & Dale. Lyn & Bryan, Melbourne, Australia

What a delightful way to have a get away. We had a wonderful time scouting out the village. Took a 50 min boat tour around the lake which was also very enjoyable. The highlight would have to be the special attention Louise, Dale(and Allie) showed us. Breakfast both mornings was outstanding...and we especially enjoyed the special "mamosa" toast Louise and Dale made to acknowledge our 30th anniversary....we came away with the feeling that we had made new friends, with the hopes that our paths will cross again in the fall...Thanks again Louise and Dale

Aunt Louise's was very charming. Louise couldn't do enough for you and was very attentive especially when it came to meal restrictions. We stayed in the larger room with it's own bath (Lake View). However, the view was across the street and minimal. The room was very comfortable but didn't have enough places for you to put your own things. I would have liked to see a shelf or table in the bathroom for our cosmetics instead of the small chair in the corner. The grounds were beautiful with lots of cozy places to sit and look at the lake across the street. It was about a 10 minute ride into the town.

We recently stayed at Aunt Louise's bed and breakfast in Skaneateles. The property is very quaint and charming, the hosts Louise and Dale are wonderful people and the area is extremely picturesque. They not only made us feel welcome, but did everything possible to make the trip an extremely enjoyable experience. We had 3 young kids in the group, and not once did we feel that they were not welcome. Each morning Louise, Dale and Ally took a lot of trouble to cater to all our individual needs and put out a new treat for the kids. Thank you for taking such good care of us, we would highly recommend this property, for people with or without kids in the group. We shall definitely be back soon.

Our stay at Aunt Louise's was wonderful. Delightful accommodations, superlative hosts, delicious gourmet breakfasts in the gorgeous surroundings of Skaneateles Lake. Our hosts out did themselves when following a storm that knocked out the power in the surrounding area they proceeded to cook our breakfast on their BBQ. It was a wonderful breakfast non-the-less coddled eggs and all. We plan to return and highly recommend this little B.B gem. Adrian & Vivian Kyte Burlington, Ontario.

Recently stayed at Aunt Louise's Bed & Breakfast in Skaneateles, NY. It is 4 miles out of town and sits directly on a very heavy, high traffic road. 3 rooms in the Inn, only one is rentable. Our room was small, dormer ceilings, small, inadequate bathroom. Breakfast was ok, but heavy on sugar and calories. People nice however don't seem to be experienced B&B owners. On a scale of 1 to 5 I would give this a 2.....very pricey. You can see the lake from front of house however it is across the highway...this is not a lake front property, picture is very deceiving.

We stayed in the LakeView Suite. The room was very nice, and had a great view of the lake. Louise and Dale were extremely friendly, and helpful, and prepared an elegant breakfast. Overall, for the price, hospitality, and location this BB is a winner, and future spot for us again.

Our first visit to Aunt Louise's Lake House B&B was a great experience on a warm September weekend in 2009, that we decided to visit again in March,2011. We stayed at the B&B with another couple and found the hospitality, comfort and charm just wonderful. The house offers a choice of spending time together with others by the fire or enjoying some R&R comfortably in the rooms. Great suggestions for places to visit and restaurants to eat at, were given the first time, that we booked some of them again on the next visit. Delicious breakfasts with other guests were so much fun, especially with the great service and sense of humor from our hosts Louise and Dale. See you again, soon !

The house is beautiful and the breakfast great. Overall, I would recommend this hotel. The cons: It is a little strange having the bathroom outside of the room (for the room we stayed in). Luckily we had no one else staying in the house but they wouldn't let us upgrade to a better room (with a bathroom) without paying the difference. I found that a bit annoying since no one else was there anyways.

While on a whirl wind trip through the region, a friend recommended we stay at Aunt Louise's Lake House. We couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The house has a wonderful history overlooking one of the most beautiful lakes we've ever seen. The topper was their breakfast. It was outstanding! Not only a gourmet meal filled with unbelievable flavors and aromas, but the dining room setting was so very nice. We ate in a family setting with other guests and we all had a most pleasant experience. Like I said from the beginning, we wish we could have stayed longer!

"There is no place like home" however when you arrive you and are greeted by Dale and Louise, you are home. They are two wonderful people that are generous in their home. My wife and I spent 3 nights and enjoyed every moment. Breakfast was a first class treat. Every morning was a special time and very comfortable in the dining room. The location is a nice spot and the backyard is zen. We will return in the future.

Everything about this trip was peaceful and calm. From the way we were treated to the time we left. Beautiful veiw of the lake, and flower gardens at the inn. Definitely going to plan a return trip. Beacause of the most gracious host. Aunt Louise and Dale who made this trip.

This was my first B&B and I was treated with pure hospitality. There was always a roaring fire to sit in front of. An old time crawfoot bath tub awaited me at night. The breakfast was the most unique one I have ever had; from baked apples and grapefruit, to imported juices and coddled eggs. The views from the house were breathtaking.

Clean and pretty comfortable. Did not care for the sunrise room ... one small window, mostly filled up by a window air conditioner. I've stayed in a number of bed and breakfasts, and this one feels more like staying with relatives. Gardens are quite pretty ... the lake is viewed across the road and between the houses. The hosts are very nice and had great dining suggestions. Skaneateles is a pretty little town ... the downtown is not in walking distance of the B&B.

Welcoming innkeepers, immaculate guest room decor, ample common areas with room to relax. Lovely view down the sweeping lawns to the lake beyond.
