Wonderful place, wonderful people !

4 star rating only because system wont allow 5 stars for some reason. This spacious, immaculate property is fantastic - I highly recommend it to anyone visiting N.York. Warm hospitable welcome too.

The perfect place to stay in NYC

4.6 on September 29, 2014

My husband and I stayed here for 8 nights from the 24th of August and we honestly could not fault the place. The house is just beautiful inside and out and it was nice to stay in something different to the stock standard hotel, In fact we felt like we had the whole house to ourselves as we didn't see anyone for the first 5 days. Vasili is a lovely host who is there to assist in any way possible. We also really liked the area and being away from the hustle and bustle. I will recommend this place to anyone going to NYC and hope to one day return to this great house!

A Gem in NYC, An Incredible Find!

5 on February 10, 2013

After searching for months for a room in Manhattan, I came across this Gem, the Mount Morris House. The Owner made us feel so comfortable even at our first email communication that we booked the Jade suite for our week long Holiday in NYC. This was such a treat that along with all of NYC has to offer made our special trip a memory that we will have for a lifetime. Our wonderful and thoughtful host, Dimitri made us feel so welcomed and comfortable from the first email to the moment we regretfully, left our new home in NYC. There was nothing overlooked, we had everything we needed in our room. We even had 24 hour access to the fully stocked pantry with a large selection of tea, coffee and the wonderful home made cake! We also want to thank the lovely housekeeper that had our room made every day, something that is not expected in a guest house at such low rates. The location was also perfect with many choices of restaurants for breakfast and diner, it is also convenient to all public transport with the bus stop right in front and the subway just around the corner 3 blocks, a 5 minute walk and in 10 minutes we were at the center, Times Square. We also had the pleasure of meeting some of the other guests staying there from around the world, who were also very please and felt lucky that they had found the Mount Morris House as we were. We also Plan on visiting their beautiful guest house on the beach on the Greek Island this Summer. Thank You Dimitri for your hospitality, for sharing your Palacio and for making us feel part of your family and not just a bunch of strangers/tourists visiting your beautiful and exiting city had we stayed in a tiny, pricey Hotel room. We are so glad we found you, Peter and Melanie

Nice experience

As a first time visitor to New York I didn't quite know what to expect. Mount Morris House turned out to be the perfect choice. Twenty minutes from Time Square by Metro, ten minutes walk from Central Park in a rather charming area of Harlem. We loved the place. The courtesy as well as the service was outstanding.

It's Not Just a Place to Stay, It's an Experience!

My sister and I stayed at Mt. Morris House for 7 days in August, 2011 and it far exceeded our already high expectations. The house and rooms are beautiful, the neighborhood is charming and friendly, and public transportation is close and reliable. We walked all over the neighborhood at all hours, and found everyone to be so friendly and upbeat. We loved our whole week visiting NYC, but this was definitely the highlight.

We spent two wonderful weeks in this beautiful furnished house. Dimitri helped us whenever help was needed and we enjoyed the delicious breakfast every day. We would really love to come back as soon as possible.

A Treasure in Manhattan

4.0 on May 22, 2011

My daughter and I spent 3 nights at MMH in September 2010 and enjoyed our hosts, our room, and our meals. Breakfast each morning with other guests gave us the opportunity to exchange our experiences. Wonderful location with access to transportation to all of the sites. Great restaurants in the area with reasonable prices! We will be back for sure

Best place in NYC

5 on February 05, 2011

I go to Manhattan every year and I always stay at Mont Morris. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous and very clean. I have been in other hotels, but nothing can top this one. The area is also really nice, with good restaurants nearby. Subway station is close tot the hotel. I really recommend it.

a true treasure, a traveler's home

4.8 on February 02, 2011

An unobtrusive Victorian brownstone in upper Manhattan houses an respite and retreat from business, play, or travel. The rooms are spacious and elegant, the common spaces comfortable and peaceful. Gorgeously restored private bathrooms add a feeling of luxury. Vasilli, the proprietor is a kind, engaging, wonderful host and brilliant ambassador to Harlem. Even though I was in New York for a brief 36 hours on business, I felt like I had actually traveled and had an experience, rather than feeling shuttled, trammeled and shut-up in a tinder box hole of a retail hotel. Close restaurants, library, museum, and subway station made my short stay easy and fun. As of now, for me, Mount Morris is the only place to stay in New York!

Exceeded ALL Expectations!

5 on January 02, 2011

What can one say about MMH without sounding too over the top or overly complimentary....Nothing, because I can honestly say that the entire experience has exceeded my expectations and one should extend compliments when and where they are due! From the moment of our arrival, we were made to feel comfortable and genuinely welcome, not only accommodated! It did not feel like a hotel, but a visit to the home of a long lost relative that warmly & graciously welcomed us into their home which is something from a time long past. We have Vasili & Dimitri to thank for this. They restored Mt. Morris House to the Victorian jewel that it had once been, ensuring that, in addition to the old world style and comforts, all the technological amenities are available, reminding you that we're in the present, and not the past. The location is optimal. VERY close to the city center. Safe. Quiet. Comfortable. Enchanting. And let me not forget to mention that the prices are very reasonable considering all of the above. The rooms were spotless, beautiful, beautiful designed and very comfortable. I've travelled extensively, and I must say that this has been THE nicest surprise to date. I have already started recommending MMH to friends, relatives and colleagues and this is where I will stay in my future visits to Manhattan. With that, I'd like to thank Vasili & Dimitri for the wonderful experience and to let the rest of you know that this is the place to consider and choose if you'd like your visit to NY to be an unforgettable one. Enjoy and have fun!

Home away from home

A beautifully restored Victorian home in Manhattan. Our stay felt very much like being “home in New York”. Vasili, the proprietor welcomed us and immediately made us feel like family. He carried our very heavy luggage to our upgraded suite which was a room fit for royalty. We had a nice view of Mount Morris Park from our Bay windows, a large dressing area with plenty of closet space and drawers, a room with a queen size bed and a living room with two couches. One couch transformed into another queen size bed, which for a sofa bed was really quite comfortable. The bathroom was quite nice with a walk-in shower (no doors or curtains – loved it!); excellent water pressure and hot water. This B&B has a nice mixture of turn of the century and modern living which includes a large flat screen TV with cable and free internet access. Every morning a wonderful breakfast awaits you which is not your typical donut and coffee offering at other hotels. Fresh fruit, quiche, yogurt, bagels, muffins, oatmeal, cold cereal, toast, coffee, tea and OJ were what we encountered during our stay. You join the other guests for breakfast in a beautiful, formal dining room and share tips and information on the previous day’s excursions. This was most definitely one of the highlights of our stay. You felt like you were eating breakfast with the “family” before you went out for the day’s adventures. Vasili made dinner suggestions/reservations for us, arranged for an affordable car and driver, (not a taxi) and gave wonderful suggestions of places to eat or grocery shop very close to Mount Morris House. He made himself available to help in any way he could. You are just a few short blocks from the subway and a bus stop is right outside the B&B. We found it easy to get downtown and a nice place to rest away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. We felt like during our stay we were able to experience what it was like to be a New Yorker. We will be back!

Simply The Best

A place you could go back to

4.0 on October 13, 2009

Stayed 7 nights over the end of September 2009 to October. By luck upgraded to the larger suite so acres of space. What others say about the stay is accurate. Hosts are unassuming and leave you alone unless you ask for help, which they give and is just what you want. We found Harlem safe but still a little disconcerting. Bus stop runs 24 hours 30 feet from the door. Subway is a 10 minute walk either way. Everyone sent us to 125th St for the subway, if you use the 116th it feels safer and you walk past some local eateries which provided us with good food at reasonable prices.

Definitely a recommendable B&B!

My wife, two kids (15 & 20) and I enjoyed our stay in de last week of april 2009 very, very much! The inkeeper's friendliness, the room and the breakfast, it was fantastic! Huib Volker, The Netherlands.

Memorable experience

My wife and I stayed at Mount Morris House for 11 days this April over Easter. Vasili and Dimitri gave us a warm welcome to their B and B and were fantastic hosts and guides to NYC. Each and every day we were surprised with an incredible breakfast! We enjoyed every moment that we spent in NYC and will definitely return to Mount Morris House. Both of us would highly recommend this B and B.

Manhattan Stay

4.0 on January 24, 2009

We had a wonderful time in Manhattan. The B&B was very clean and beautifully presented. Although we were a little apprehensive about being in Harlem (too many old movies!), the position turned out to be very good. We were about a 5 minute walk to the subway and there were quite a few shops nearby. Vasili’s breakfasts were delicious and his knowledge of Manhattan was really helpful. Talking to the other guests was fascinating – there was a family from Sweden and a couple from North Carolina at the same time and we found out about times and places for a variety of activities from them. Can’t wait to return!! One of the best things for us (a family of 5 – with 3 teenage children) was the laundry that was right near the subway. It was cheap and did a fantastic job. Denise and Andrew – Perth, Western Australia

Incredible Stay!

5 on January 07, 2009

We thank Vasili and Dimitri for their tremendous hospitality during our families stay in the loft and Suite 1 during Christmas. Beautifully restored and very clean throughout the grand house. Breakfast each morning was delicious and abundant, lunch was not necessary. Very accessible to both bus and metro. Highly recommended and look forward to visiting again, very much worth the value. Reserve today! P & C Bonnetaud.

A Canadian Opinion

We had the opportunity to stay in the loft. The climb up the stairs was well worhtwhile. While the breakfasts were wonderful, it wa the hopitality of Vasili and Dimitri that truly made our stay exceptional

A Treasure in Manhatten

4.8 on December 16, 2008

Our stay at Mount Morris was superb from start to finish. The house is just beautiful like stepping back in time to the days when houses were aristocratic and elegant. The rooms were a very good size, cosy and warm and the shower was amazing. The breakfast was a feast of fresh fruit, croissants and on Sunday pancakes and maple syrup!!!! Mount Morris is well located and in easy reach of the bus and subway. Our host was gracious and was the perfect compliment to a lovely house. I will definitely be recommending Mount Morris to my friends and look forward to returning myself.

Great Place to Stay

4.8 on November 22, 2008

You won't be disappointed staying with Vasili. He will take care of your needs. Breakfast was plentiful and tasted wonderful, conversations were great and he had good recommendations for dinners. We were able to quickly get on the subway or bus right outside of the b&b. Don't let the neighborhood fool you...........there are upscale restraurants within a few blocks of the b&b that have wonderful food and service. The rooms were large and beautifully decorated. We'll be staying again.

a great place

5 on November 06, 2008

this was a great place to stay for our trip, in a very interesting and quiet area, easily accessible by bus and subway. We were made very wellcome by Vasili and Dimitri, and would definitely choose this home from homes again. Vasili must be in contention for the best breakfast ever!! The most beautifully set table, and such a variety of fruit, breads, eggs, name it, and it changed every day!

A true gem

Charming, clean, comfortable, luxurious, hospitable hosts, generous and delicious breakfast, a great find in Manhattan, not far from metro and bus. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would definitely recommend it to others. Great recommendations from owners, very helpful, and kind. Do not hesitate to stay here. You will not be disappointed! Thank you Vasili and Dimitri!

A great place to stay in NYC

4.4 on October 22, 2008

A great place to stay in NYC! Vassili and Dimitri are extremely welcoming and always ready to help with a host of tips and advice (including an amazing steak restaurant a couple of blocks away!). Breakfasts are lavish and there is a new surprise every day (thank you for the very delicious "pain perdu", Vassili!). And the rooms are very spacious. I strongly recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a memorable NYC experience. Stephanie (Paris)

oase van rust in crazy manhattan

4.0 on October 21, 2008

Exceptional charm and hospitality

My husband and I recently stayed at this B&B and we had a great stay. The innkeeper was very hospitable, the accommodations were beautiful, the breakfast was great. I plan to return to this B&B the next time I have to travel to New York.

The FIRST call I'll make next trip

4.6 on September 26, 2008

What a wonderful experience! The Mount Morris House is beautifully restored, very comfortable, with the most gracious hosts. Breakfast each day was a feast. The neighborhood is vibrant with many good dining possibilities. Add in the easy access to public transportation, and it makes the perfect NYC home away from home.

A unique and special place

5 on September 24, 2008

When we had breakfast at Mount Morris House we agreed that it shouldn't be called "bed and breakfast" but "bed and banquet", the breakfast was a real feast! The rooms are so very special with a lovely, lovely atmosphere and the owners are very kind and helpful. We will definitively stay here again!

Great B&B superb breakfast often too much food :), suite was beautiful, house kept and restored in immaculate condition. Vaslii the perfect host orientating me and my partner to the area surrounding the B&B and recommending some good restraunts. Good access to downtown manhattan from the residence, clost to 2 subways and a bus that runs the whole way down 5th avenue. Thoroughly enjoyed out time there thanks Vasalii

Extraordinary Bed and Breakfast

5 on September 10, 2008

Our stay at Mount Morris House was beyond our expectations. The house is wonderfully restored. The innkeeper, Vasili, goes the extra step to make your stay comfortable, convenient, and fun. He is an excellent cook - we had a superb breakfast every day. He arranged transportation to and from the airport, printed our boarding passes, arranged a great restaurant for dinner, and on and on. We highly recommend staying at Mount Morris House for a unique look at New York City. Robin and Gil

Unforgetable Stay at Vasilis Place

My parents and me had a perfect stay in New York at Vasilis place. Nice Service, perfect breakfast, beautiful furniture. Thank you!

What a find!

5 on August 28, 2008

From the moment we arrived (around midnight due to a delayed flight) to the moment we checked out, we were made to feel welcome by our innkeepers. Our room was spacious and charming, with an updated bath and rain shower. Breakfast was a feast each day and so substantial that we usually skipped lunch (a great economizer in NYC). The bus stop is literally at the bottom of the front steps and the subway just a few blocks away so getting anywhere in Manhattan is very easy. The inn provides wireless internet access, so you get the best of late nineteenth century charm with every modern convenience. We will definitely be back!

A Great Stay at Mount Morris House

4.8 on July 29, 2008

Recently my daughter and I spent a week at the Mount Morris House, and the stay enhanced a memorable vacation. If vacationers love antiques and homes with character and history, they will enjoy staying at this B&B. Besides the accommodations the service could not be better. Vasili went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable from making excellent breakfasts, offering to hail us a cab, or asking us if we needed anything while giving all his guests the privacy they may want. Speaking of guests, we met some wonderful people from different countries while the B&B felt like home with the next door neighbor stopping in for breakfast. I highly recommend the Mount Morris House if you are heading to New York. My daughter and I are looking forward to our next visit to the Mount Morris House.

Wonderful, historic B&B

4.2 on July 27, 2008

Great architecture, friendly owner and large comfortable room make this a rewarding place to stay. We would recommend it to anyone seeking a B&B in NYC.

A Gracious Getaway in Manhattan

4.6 on July 07, 2008

We had a wonderful weekend at the Mount Morris House, using it as a base for our Manhattan trip. It was convenient to LaGuardia, and an easy ride to Midtown on subways or the Park Avenue bus that stops right outside. Our hosts could not have been more attentive, and they helped us have a perfect weekend--at about $200 less per night than we would have spent on a tiny Midtown hotel. We will stay there on our next trip. We give it our highest recommendation.

A true blessing

5 on June 26, 2008

I am so blessed to have met Vasili and Dimitry. I came to NYC to finish my Ministry ceremony and had already reserved a room with another location, but found out at the last minute that it was a scam. I emailed Vasili desperate for a new location. Vasili called me and was so gracious. They took care of a driver to pick up my family from one location, drop off our luggage and take us to Riverside Church for my ceremony. The rooms are spacious and beautiful and the breakfasts were great. When I visit NYC again, this is the only place I will stay. Thank you, Vasili and Dimitry, for making this trip so spectacular and opening up your beautiful home to us. 6/2008

Home away from home!

4.0 on June 23, 2008

Due to a last minute change in my schedule, I needed a overnight stay in NYC and was unable to find a decent hotel room at a reasonable price. But staying a night at Mount Morris House was better than any NYC hotel experience. My room and bath was triple the size of any hotel room. Vasili & Dimitry made me feel very welcomed and safe. The morning peaceful with a relaxed breakfast, not a typical NYC morning that I am used to at the hotels! A hidden gem and one that I will frequent often.

Wonderful new york experience

4.0 on June 13, 2008

My husband and I are delighted to have been among the very first guests at this new jem in historical Mount Morris Park. Dimitri and Vasili, our hosts, were gracious and attentive. We felt welcome in their home. The 19th century townhouse has been restored to its original grandeur. The room was spacious and clean. It was a great New York experience. We loved it.

I felt like I was visiting friends.

5 on June 12, 2008

Vasili & Dimitry are wonderful hosts and the accommodations were perfect. Even though there was record breaking heat, They made sure that I was comfortable at all times. The house is lovely and the neighborhood is fine. I will never consider a hotel in NYC again!!! I can't wait to visit them again. Robert
