About

The Washington Irving Inn is located on the outskirts of the historic Village of Tannersville, within the Town of Hunter, Greene County, New York. Built circa 1890, this charming Victorian Inn is located on scenic route 23A (also known as "The Rip Van Winkle Trail") approximately two miles from Hunter Mountain Ski Bowl in the Catskill State Park. The Inn's environment transports you back to a gentler, less harried time when people-watching was a popular pastime and front porches were "the" place to be. The Inn's distinctive architectural charm and informal atmosphere make the leisure-traveler feel at home. The Inn is suitable for romantic getaways, family outings and reunions, weddings, and group and corporate retreats.

Stefania is a beautiful host. It is a lovely place to stay. We've made this our go to for our annual trip to hunter mountain since stumbling upon the place. We will not stay anywhere else when we travel to Hunter.

Excellent option in the Catskills

5 on August 02, 2017

We tried to stay there several times in the winter but was always full. However, it's a great option for a getaway during the summer. They keep their place very neat, absolutely clean, and the service is fantastic. We enjoyed very much the delicious breakfasts. Absolutely recommended!

Great stay, just what we needed

3.6 on February 22, 2017

Overall the Stay at Washington irving Inn was exactly what we expected. Great breakfast, host was lovely and the room worked for what we needed. Overall worked for what we needed and would consider again. Only thing i dont love is an extra person charge for a 3rd person when the room is already made for 3 people. I thought that was unnecessary.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for the review, we're happy we were able to fulfill your wishes at the Washington Irving inn. As a small establishment, the Washington Irving runs on double occupancy. Additional guests add charges based on services (additional breakfast, bed, etc). We're sorry this was unclear, and we hope to see you again!
