Exceeded Our Expectations

5 on March 23, 2018

The Fairlawn Inn exceeded my girlfriend and I's expectations. We had a great weekend due to the conditions at Hunter, complimented by the service at Fairlawn. The meals were fantastic, the rooms were clean and warm. Couldn't have asked for much more other. Also, you cant beat being 0.4 mi from the entrance to the mountain!

Shhhh Hidden treasure in Hunter NY

5 on March 22, 2018

My husband and I are regular visitors of the Fairlawn Inn. We fell in love with the Fairlawn in 2008. We loved it so much, the Fairlawn hosted our wedding in 2012. The charm of each room decorated with beautiful antiques to the unique décor of each bedroom is only the surface of what we love about the Fairlawn. Chuck the Inn keeper welcomes you with a smile and gives you the details of the Inn, keys, snacks, and the most important the time of Breakfast. Chuck has a way of brining the guests together without you even knowing it is happening. I have given many reviews of how wonderful the gourmet breakfast are prepared. But sometimes its nice to sit and listen to what other people are saying too in the dinning room. Each day the breakfast includes fresh fruit, homemade breads, or muffins, juice, and a hot breakfast menu to please everyone. Our most recent stay March 16-18 2018 I sat in the dinning room and just listened to what was being said around me. As the couples/ families arrived to breakfast you could her them say what a wonderful presentation was given to them. They had never had such a wonderful breakfast given to them at an Inn. As I sat and watched every guest enjoy their meals only leaving empty plates and compliments behind. The wonderful breakfast and friendly atmosphere are what keeps my husband I going back. We have our next visit planned already. If I had to sum up our stay each time at the Fairlawn I would say this, The Fairlawn is a place where strangers check in and friends check out.

Great Inn for the value

4.4 on March 11, 2018

My wife and I spent a weekend at this Inn this past February. The host was great and they were able to accommodate our late arrival. Rooms were very well kept and warm. The overall place is charming and would recommend for any couple looking to get away from NYC and get some fresh air and relaxation.

Cute and Cozy stay

Charming, Eco-Friendly B&B with Modern Amenities

5 on February 08, 2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Fairlawn Inn! Chuck and the rest of the staff were friendly and welcoming to my husband, myself, and our Golden Retriever. Our room (the Willow Room) was cozy and impeccably clean, and we really enjoyed relaxing by our in-room fireplace after a chilly day on the slopes. There is a good bit of yard that our dog enjoyed playing ball in. The added amenities around the inn (snacks, cold beverages, tea station, pool table, etc.) really elevate the experience and differentiate it from an average hotel stay. We also appreciated the green initiatives implemented here. The breakfast is outstanding - very well-rounded with healthy/vegetarian/gluten-free options. The proximity to Hunter Mountain cannot be beat! We cannot wait to go back.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for spending the time to review us. Lily (the golden retriever)was a pleasure to have at the inn. Her exuberance as she played in the snow was great to watch. You commentary is appreciated as we try to make our inn a comfortable second home to each guest. We cannot wait to have you back.

Lovely stay upstate!

4.6 on February 05, 2018

My husband and I enjoyed a recent 2 night stay at The Fairlawn Inn. One of the things I appreciated most is the green-aspect of the inn and their efforts toward being environmentally conscious. The morning breakfast was delicious and the service prompt and friendly. Convenient location to Hunter and Tannersville and not far from Windham. We would definitely return.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review and noticing our commitment to green that we have at the property. We are the only historic home in North America with a four key out of five key rating with Green Key Global. Quite the challenge in a 114 year old home. We look forward to having you back and hope it is soon. Thanks Again.

unpleasant innkeeper

2.6 on January 11, 2018

This Inn advertises "Pet Friendly" and why we booked . The Inn has two pet rooms. We booked one. The Innkeeper expressed total surprise that we had a pet. I pointed out that the Inn was empty, except for one other booking, and we had one of the two pet rooms, yet he denied knowledge of any pet booking.. The Room was listed for three people. One adult and one child initially took occupancy for one of four nights. another adult joined on day two with a 4lb Service dog.. The Innkeeper again professed shock at this He was paid for the pets and an extra person. . Finally, the pets are registered Service Animals and normally are not charged. The Inn is kept beautifully, the breakfast is very good, but served for only one hour. It is in a good location, but the infrastructure: heat and plumbing need significant upgrades. The room was very cold and due to his general unpleasantness we left a day early.

Innkeeper Response
I was expecting this commentary and review. The room was booked on an online travel agency and did not indicate a third person or dogs were part of the reservation, The room was booked for TWO Guests and no dog was indicated. The (surprise) dog barked incessantly the first morning at which time I had guests in an adjacent rooms that did not come down for breakfast so I am sure they were disturbed. She did go up to insure the dog stopped when I made the request. That day, a third guest arrived. I was courteous even though surprised by an additional guest and dog. The second dog also barked when they left the room. Policy of the Online travel agency provides the assurance that you do not have to accommodate additional surprise guests and ask the entire party to leave. I took hospitable approach, charged for the additional guest, dogs and was courteous throughout their stay. I welcome service dogs and all previously booked dogs in dog friendly rooms. I read in the ADA guidelines that "service dogs" are trained to not bark unless is a necessary part of their service. Service dogs are also to be with owners 24/7 not abandoned when they leave for dinner or other times of the day. If the dog does bark you read that it is appropriate to ask them to leave. I did not ask them to leave but did indicate that I had a full house the final night of their stay and the dogs could not bark. I was polite and courteous throughout their stay. They never indicated there was an issue with being cold as we could have adjusted the thermostat upon request.

A beautiful warm feeling Victorian house with a host by the name of Chuck. He is kind and respectful but he has a amazing breakfast menu which he does himself.

November Getaway

My wife and I spent the weekend of 11/3 at the Fairlawn. The room was everything we expected. We enjoyed the home cooked breakfasts every morning. After a day of hiking on Saturday the hot tub was just right. Chuck provided great recommendations for dinner and was always pleasant to chat with during breakfast.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind words - we hope to see you again soon.

Weekend Getaway

We visited Fairlawn with another couple while in town for zip lining. We were welcomed with a grand tour and invited to enjoy the amenities. After a few games of pool, we headed out to dinner. We returned to a cozy warm room. The room was beautifully decorated and created the feelings of Home. Delicious breakfast !!
