The Fairlawn Inn

7872 Main Street , Hunter, NY 12442 USA (Show map)

The Fairlawn Inn Is the #1 Inn in NY for 2018 as the Inn of distinction by New York State Hospitality and Tourism Association. We had that same award in 2010. The inn is also #1 by Tripadvisor. and is four key rated by Green Key Global out of five keys. Quite the accomplishment for a 114 year old home. Walk to town where you can enjoy three movie theaters, performing arts center, cafe, craft and fine art galleries, bookstore and more. Several restaurants are within walking distance. Rooms all contain a Queen sized bed, Flat screen HD Cable TV with DVD players, Alarm clocks and A/C. The Inn is in the Northern Catskills that offer all types of winter, spring summer and fall sports... we have something to do all seasons. We are within walking distance to Hunter Mountain for concert series and festivals.

Wonderful stay, fabulous host!

My husband and I had a lovely getaway weekend at the Fairlawn Inn. Everything about our stay, from the clean and comfortable rooms to the gorgeous gardens and surrounding splendor of the Catskill Mountains to the fabulous breakfast (right down to the exceptional coffee!!) was everything we could have hoped for! Chuck was hospitable, friendly and informative. We definitely plan on returning.

Breakfast was amazing

Beautiful location

We only spent one night at the Fairlawn Inn. It was quite lovely. The host was very pleasant and helpful, but had been injured and couldn't prepare breakfast for us. He took something off the price of the room, which was fair, and gave us information on restaurants in the area that could serve us breakfast. We had a pleasant stay. Please note that I had to enter a score for onsite dining, although we didn't dine on site. "Not Applicable" is the correct answer, but it wasn't a choice, so I put "met my expectations," which is true -- he had emailed that he wouldn't be providing breakfast, so I didn't expect any..

Already planning our return

Chuck is great guy and made our first B&B stay a memorable one. He had an unfortunate accident and broke his ankle prior to our stay and was unable to cook breakfast for us. He notified us ahead of time and offered a refund. We just wanted to get away so we went anyway and we are so glad we did. Such a charming old house - he even offered to reimburse us for the cost of breakfast after we arrived but I refused. Planning a return for fall foliage and will definitely look forward to breakfast!

Exceeded Our Expectations

The Fairlawn Inn exceeded my girlfriend and I's expectations. We had a great weekend due to the conditions at Hunter, complimented by the service at Fairlawn. The meals were fantastic, the rooms were clean and warm. Couldn't have asked for much more other. Also, you cant beat being 0.4 mi from the entrance to the mountain!

Shhhh Hidden treasure in Hunter NY

My husband and I are regular visitors of the Fairlawn Inn. We fell in love with the Fairlawn in 2008. We loved it so much, the Fairlawn hosted our wedding in 2012. The charm of each room decorated with beautiful antiques to the unique décor of each bedroom is only the surface of what we love about the Fairlawn. Chuck the Inn keeper welcomes you with a smile and gives you the details of the Inn, keys, snacks, and the most important the time of Breakfast. Chuck has a way of brining the guests together without you even knowing it is happening. I have given many reviews of how wonderful the gourmet breakfast are prepared. But sometimes its nice to sit and listen to what other people are saying too in the dinning room. Each day the breakfast includes fresh fruit, homemade breads, or muffins, juice, and a hot breakfast menu to please everyone. Our most recent stay March 16-18 2018 I sat in the dinning room and just listened to what was being said around me. As the couples/ families arrived to breakfast you could her them say what a wonderful presentation was given to them. They had never had such a wonderful breakfast given to them at an Inn. As I sat and watched every guest enjoy their meals only leaving empty plates and compliments behind. The wonderful breakfast and friendly atmosphere are what keeps my husband I going back. We have our next visit planned already. If I had to sum up our stay each time at the Fairlawn I would say this, The Fairlawn is a place where strangers check in and friends check out.

Great Inn for the value

My wife and I spent a weekend at this Inn this past February. The host was great and they were able to accommodate our late arrival. Rooms were very well kept and warm. The overall place is charming and would recommend for any couple looking to get away from NYC and get some fresh air and relaxation.
