If Canajoharie is anywhere near your route or destination, the Pineapple House is a great place to stay. The hosts are friendly and accommodating, the rooms are tasteful and comfortable, and the tasty and hearty breakfast was made to order. Talk to the hosts about good places for an evening meal before you arrive. There are no pets on the premises, which was important to us since I am allergic to cats and my wife is scared of dogs.

The Pineapple House B&B has two rooms which share a bath. But don't let that put you off since the owners' current policy is to only rent out one of the rooms at a time. (Disclaimer: The owners informed me that there has been a time where a 2nd customer was desperate for a room, but assured me that they would clear it with the 1st customer before renting out the 2nd room.) The hosts, Janine and Bill, were extremely gracious and accomodating. They live on-site but the guest rooms are segregated from the rest of the house. Once in our room we had no evidence of anyone else being in the building until we caught the aroma of breakfast cooking in the morning. The breakfast is served at a time specified by the guest. Also, the menu is tailored to the guests' tastes. We decided to keep it "simple" and had a bowl of fruit (grapefruit, bananas, oranges, and raspberries) followed by eggs over easy, fried potatoes, bacon, and an english muffin. We had coffee and orange juice for beverages. The rooms are up a considerable flight of stairs, which you may want to inquire about if you have mobility issues. Each room has a TV, along with some reading material. We slept in the Vanessa Room with the double bed. The bed was comfortable. My wife rarely sleeps the night through due to her back, and was able to sit up for a while in the large wingback chair in the Hillary room. The bathroom was quite clean and the shower had very good water pressure. There were more than enough towels at our disposal. We will definitely stay here again the next time we are in the area. I think the following sums up our stay: Upon laying down for the night, I remarked to my wife, "This is like visiting friends and staying the night."
