Attended a wedding nearby & hotels seemed pedestrian. Tried the Wooden Duck for the one night we were in town & really enjoyed it. Innkeepers were friendly & professional. Breakfast was outstanding & BIG !! Liked the ability to get a drink & snack 24/7 in common areas. Would stay there again. I do like to sleep in a very cold room. Although AC was very adequate, & could not control the temp in my room. Not sure if this iis true in all rooms. I could have controlled the heat, however. Really liked the 4 sided fireplace in the bedroom, although did not really use in August. Bed was comfy.

My partner and I have stayed at The Wooden Duck several times. Karl is very welcoming and Beth's breakfasts are delicious. The pool and grounds in the summer are very nice and the fireplace and soaking tub in the room are very relaxing. We have recommended it to our friends and will continue to visit.

We needed to find a nice place to stay in order to meet a work obligation in nearby Blairstown, NJ. We researched options on the web and chose the Wooden Duck....what a delightful B & B. Our hosts were most gracious and accommodating, even to recommending nearby eating places and providing numerous driving directions. Our room (not even the best in the inn) was truly one of the nicest we've expereinced in all of our B & B stays. The setting, along the fringes of a State park was enchanting and we felt relaxed within a half hour of arriving. We're not sure that we will have reason to return to the area---but just might have to make one up!

It's not very easy to find a place to stay in the Sparta-Newton area, but if you are fortunate enough to find the Wooden Duck, you will be pleased. It is a lovely respite and we will recommend it to all.

WE had a wonderful night at the wooden duck. IT is tucked away in the woods and so inviting!! Ben and Karl were warm andaccomodating and absolutely wanted our stay to be just perfect. We were with a group of friends who have been coming to the wooden duck for years so it certainly came as no surprise that everything was as wonderful as they said it would be. OBviously repeat visits speak for themselves!! Would highly recommend this bed and breakfast to everyone. I hope to be back with my family!!

My husband, son & I stayed in the Scoter Room while spending the weekend at the Flourescent Mines. It was wonderful to have a homey room to go back to after a long day. We had prearranged a cheese plate. Since the weather didn't cooperate for a swim in the gorgeous pool, we spent the evening playing board games & watching movies from their stocked game & movie room. It was so quiet & clean. Karl & Beth were extremely hospitable & made sure to include my son directly in conversation. It was a great stay!

The only reason I didn't rate the Wooden Duck higher is that I already have high expectations, and the Wooden Duck delivered in every respect. Great hosts, great breakfasts, superb hospitality, great rooms and amenities. I love how secluded and quiet it is. If you want to forget about every day stresses, this is THE place.

We are frequent guests at B & B's in Pa and Vt but this is the first one we have stayed at in New Jersey. Although we were familiar with the Wooden Duck from the BedandBreakfast.com web site we were immediately impressed upon our arrival with both the warmth and cleanliness of the Inn. Karl & Beth made us feel right at home and our room exceeded our expectations. We stayed two days and breakfast each morning made us want for a longer stay. Needless to say we will be back to The Wooden Duck very soon and feel fortunate that there is a B & B so close to home that exceeds in quality and value any that we have visited to date.

The breakfast both mornings was delicious and the highlight of my time in Newton, NJ. The room was spacious and very clean. The two owners are great people who care for their guests. They give great suggestions of places to visit and eat at. They also are accomodating to local business owners. I would definitely stay at the Wooden Duck again!

Beth and Karl welcome you and have made this bed and breakfast the most comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable place to stay. The rooms are immaculate, quaint and comfortable; and the food is fantastic. We have been here two times now and are planning a return stay in June, 2011.

My husband and I spent a wonderful weekend just before Christmas at the Wooden Duck Inn. Our room (the Mallard) was spacious and beuatifully decorated. The full breakfast was delicious and the innkeepers went out of their way to make our favorites. As birdwatchers, we enjoyed the view of the of the feeders from our breakfast table and also the proximity to the Kittatiny State Park. A great place!

Who would have thought that only a few miles from home was this paradise retreat. The hospitality was comprobable to coming home for the holidays. The breakfast was above and beyond expectations. The entire stay was wonderful. It was peaceful, serene and certainly very clean and welcoming. Not only would I recommend it, but, we've already booked another weekend.

My husband and I were going to go to a major hotel chain in the area; so glad we changed our minds. Our room was immaculate. I'm a bit of a linen snob so the thick fluffy towels and heavy weight percale sheets were heavenly. Any time we were in the room, we lit the double-sided fireplace which made the room feel cozy. The quiet and peacefulness of the location made it feel like a retreat and wow - the breakfast the next morning was outstanding.

As seasoned travelers, but always at a hotel, we finally made our first B&B weekend. The Wooden Duck provides a fantastic experience for first-timers. From minute one until the final good-bye two days later, we had the best possible experiences. Facility, innkeepers, dining . . . all the tops!

We visited the Wooden Duck for a family weekend with other relatives from New York and New Jersey. The inn was lovely, absolutely immaculate, and the hosts were very warm and inviting. Beth produced amazing breakfasts everyday that we were there, and the hosts were very accommodating. We found quite a bit to do in the area, including walks in the state park, local antiquing and excellent dining in nearby restaurants recommended by Karl. Highly recommended!

The Wooden Duck was the site of a small family reunion and we couldn't have chosen a more restful, comfortable country spot. The main house and carriage house are beautifully appointed, immaculately clean, nicely designed. The dining was superb! Each morning we were served a full breakfast filled with fresh home baked breads, fresh fruit, and delightful hot entrees. You'll find the owners, Beth and Karl to be most accommodating and very personable. In all, it was an excellent choice for a family gathering.
