Joan & Fred welcome you to this carpenter Gothic style Inn built in 1869. The Gingerbread House is one of the eight Stockton Row Cottages situated in the historic District that has been meticulously and elegantly restored. This charming Victorian house is loaded with gingerbread woodwork, incorporating the innkeeper's talents and craftsmanship. His creations include the double entrance doors of teakwood with beveled glass and upgraded bathrooms of teakwood and corian counters. Victorian furnishings, lace curtains, period wallpapers, original Cape May watercolors by Fred's mother, award-winning photographs and classical music provide a lovely atmosphere with friendly service and attention to detail. Breakfast, afternoon tea, beach tags, fireplace, private and share bathrooms and wicker-filled guest veranda. 1/2 Block from the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

The Gingerbread House is a lovely place to stay in Cape May. Fred and Joan are the best and will make you feel at home there. Best location to the beach and downtown. Would definitely recommend for future visits!

We've stayed at numerous B&B's, and this was the cleanest I've ever seen! Had everything we needed. The owners went above and beyond, to make sure we were comfortable. Highly recommend!

We spent two nights during Christmas at the Gingerbread house and had a restful and enjoyable stay. The house is beautifully renovated inside. The suite we were in accommodates up to four guests with it's own bath and porch that can't be beat. Joan, the owner is sweetheart and cooks up a mean breakfast every morning. The house is also conveniently located two blocks from the Mall and main attractions. We can't wait to go back in the Summer to enjoy the beach as well.

My husband and I visit Cape May twice a year and stay at bed and breakfasts during the winter visit. The Gingerbread House is in a perfect location. The room is extremely clean. We stayed in room #3, which was a bit small. There was a flat screen TV, however it was very far from the bed, so it was a bit hard to see. Breakfasts were great, the only complaint is the time breakfast is served, which is around 9:15am-9:30am. For two people used to getting up at 5am, this was very late, even when sleeping in until 8am. Coffee was put out in the morning, however one morning my husband took used the Keurig to make a to go cup. We found it odd the Keurig cups were all put away the next morning, almost as if we should not have made a cup the morning before. Innkeepers are very nice and cordial. Overall a great stay, but we will still explore other bed and breakfasts because we like trying different ones.

This was our first stay at Gingerbread House, and it likely won't be our last. Owners Fred and Joan provide a warm, welcoming environment for their guests...right down to the gourmet breakfast. The location is perfect, with a short walk to the beach and mall. Stay with confidence, you won't be disappointed!

Joan and Fred are delightful and accommodating hosts who run a first-class bed and breakfast just a couple hundred feet from the beach! I've stayed with them many times, and hope to join them for many more years. Rooms are clean, nicely decorated, and spacious. Breakfast is divine. My one suggestion would be that they offer bikes, as other bed and breakfasts seem to do this.

This property is beautifully kept. It has a very warm feel. Super clean. I stayed on the top floor in a very comfortable room. I loved that they had beach chairs and an enclosed outdoor shower. I would most definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Gingerbread House in June and absolutely loved the accommodations. Our room was very clean and we had our own porch. Joan and Fred were great hosts and make you feel right at home. Their staff was equally warm and friendly. The beach and restaurants are all within walking distance, great location. Joan's breakfasts were delicious, especially those ricotta pancakes. We will definitely be returning to the Gingerbread House.
