Joan & Fred welcome you to this carpenter Gothic style Inn built in 1869. The Gingerbread House is one of the eight Stockton Row Cottages situated in the historic District that has been meticulously and elegantly restored. This charming Victorian house is loaded with gingerbread woodwork, incorporating the innkeeper's talents and craftsmanship. His creations include the double entrance doors of teakwood with beveled glass and upgraded bathrooms of teakwood and corian counters. Victorian furnishings, lace curtains, period wallpapers, original Cape May watercolors by Fred's mother, award-winning photographs and classical music provide a lovely atmosphere with friendly service and attention to detail. Breakfast, afternoon tea, beach tags, fireplace, private and share bathrooms and wicker-filled guest veranda. 1/2 Block from the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shopping.

This was our first stay at Gingerbread House, and it likely won't be our last. Owners Fred and Joan provide a warm, welcoming environment for their guests...right down to the gourmet breakfast. The location is perfect, with a short walk to the beach and mall. Stay with confidence, you won't be disappointed!

Joan and Fred are delightful and accommodating hosts who run a first-class bed and breakfast just a couple hundred feet from the beach! I've stayed with them many times, and hope to join them for many more years. Rooms are clean, nicely decorated, and spacious. Breakfast is divine. My one suggestion would be that they offer bikes, as other bed and breakfasts seem to do this.

This property is beautifully kept. It has a very warm feel. Super clean. I stayed on the top floor in a very comfortable room. I loved that they had beach chairs and an enclosed outdoor shower. I would most definitely stay there again.

We stayed at the Gingerbread House in June and absolutely loved the accommodations. Our room was very clean and we had our own porch. Joan and Fred were great hosts and make you feel right at home. Their staff was equally warm and friendly. The beach and restaurants are all within walking distance, great location. Joan's breakfasts were delicious, especially those ricotta pancakes. We will definitely be returning to the Gingerbread House.

I have stayed in many bed and breakfasts and this was one of the best! An immaculate and beautiful b and b 2 blocks from the beach.Fred and Joan happily greeted me and gave me info about Cape May. Light music played in the living room where fresh baked treats were always available. Breakfast was substantial and delicious. I had a perfect stay!

Our stay at Gingerbread House was very pleasent. The house is beautiful, the rooms are luxury and very comfortable. For one day in beautiful Cape May this house is the perfect location for walking to the beach and town center and to explore the environment. Joans breakfast was fantastic, there are several different courses and always something different every day including fresh juice, homemade cereal and cake, fruit and joghurt. We very much enjoyed our short stay and would like to come back some day.

Fred and Joan - and their assistant McKinley - are great and knowledgeable hosts. The inn is meticulously restored and decorated (beautifully for the holidays), the rooms are clean and well-maintained, and you have all the amenities you could ask for. The location is the perfect balance between the beach (just a block away) and the main part of town (a few short blocks to restaurants and shops). Breakfast was delicious and plentiful, snacks were always available, and it's unlucky for us we had just one night there. We miss Cape life. You can't go wrong with the Gingerbread House.

Step back in time at the beautifully restored Gingerbread House in Cape May, NJ. Originally built in 1869. The rooms are pristine, comfortable and relaxing. It is within walking distance of many of the finest restaurants that Cape May has to offer and historical sites in Cape May. The atmosphere at the morning meal was warm and friendly as the host and hostess Fred & Joan went beyond expectations to make our stay more pleasant then we could have imagined. We have recommended it to our family members. We look forward to returning. The only comparison that I can make would be visiting relatives that you really like. I can't praise my experience enough.
