Fantastic Stay in Grover, NC!

Wonderful stay for 4 in this delightful and unique B&B! The breakfast and “tour” of presidential cinary displays were awesome!

Above and Beyond

5 on July 31, 2018

I booked my parents here for their 53rd wedding anniversary. Not only did they love it, the rest of the family loved it as well! They invited us all in and made us feel at home. They very graciously upgraded my parents' room since it was their anniversary! My parents said the food was amazing! They loved the personal attention they received, and they enjoyed meeting the other guests! When you stay here, you truly feel like one of the family, albeit the royal part of the family, as you are treated royally!

A Delightful Experience...

5 on July 25, 2018

We've stayed in many B&Bs over the years, but Inn of the Patriots is a one-of-a-kind! Rooms are very nice, and the breakfast was amazing. How often do you have the opportunity to eat a meal prepared by a former White House Chef? What's unique about the Inn is that it is a B&B in a museum. Marti served the White House from the Clinton's to Bush 43, and the collection of memorabilia is mind-boggling. Marti gives a tour of the "museum" after breakfast that isn't to be missed. If you like history, just a few minutes away is Kings Mountain National Military Park, site of an hour-long battle that changed the direction of the Revolutionary War in favor of the patriots.

A truly unique experience

5 on June 21, 2018

My husband and I stayed here on a little weekend trip. We had an incredible time. The level of service began with their charming daughter showing us around and making us feel like part of the family. Our room, the Baby Ruth Room, was beautifully appointed and filled with great little pieces of history. There was a charming little show on Saturday night, which we enjoyed from the porch. (we're a little shy) The stories were incredible and entertaining. And the porch is amazing... a great place to enjoy the evening air and watch the robins. We retired to our room and enjoyed one the MANY historical DVDs that are all around. In the morning, we were treated to one of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Filling, simple but elegant and delicious. We didn't stay long, but what a memorable place! We'd definitely visit again.

Marti and Stormy do a great job bringing in all kinds of historical memorabilia. Marti does a remarkable job telling historical stories and reliving history. The food was great and the service awesome. We felt right at home right away. We will be back! :)

Fun Bread and Breakfast

Delicious breakfast and lovely home with an extensive collection of White House culinary memorabilia. Lots to do in the area.

Only did cooking class

2.8 on March 27, 2018

So I only did the cooking class and since he was a former presidential chef and the idea was exploring other countries foods I was rather disappointed that we made cottage pie or Shepard pie especially since it was $40 per person and that was half off. I would have given a worse review if I had paid full price. We did check out the rooms while we were there. Cute but super small. Also not sure why but there was a mousetrap on the kitchen counter. Thankfully it was not set.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review, it is natural to receive a bad one now and then. Regarding our curriculum, we do offer a full odyssey into the country with a historical review of foods and culture which I was happy to see you loved. All of the school like Sur la Table, Williams and Sonoma, and The Salud Cookery School charge $80.00 per person. You did only pay $39.50 and received your lunch with it as well and a wine tasting at the vineyard. We have 12-foot tall ceilings in our rooms with Queen and King beds and are listed in the top 3% of hotels worldwide. The AAA Diamond Inspectors have been inspecting properties for over 40 years. Finally, your shot about a mousetrap on the kitchen counter is pretty childish in nature, ridiculous, and an attempt to try and cast filth, disgrace, and horror onto a disabled and injured veteran of 30-years in the military of the United States of America - who owns this business, me. I started it after retiring and have worked as long as 126 hours per week to create it. The mousetrap is a fun toy I bought at a gift shop and it says, "for complaints, push button." They evidently glue the trap shut so it cannot be set and according to the lady at the gift shop, "we sell a lot of those, they are hilarious." I was sorry you are in the tiny minority of guests who did not enjoy yourself, we all work very hard here to be featured on TV and newspapers across the world. But you, you have only disgraced yourself on earth with this type of conduct and unsavory attack. Be mindful that people in society, at your work, and in life, know what type of human you are - you're not fooling anyone within the human race.

Oceanicus Blue Dreams Room

FULL PRIVATE BATH. Oceanicus Blue Dreams features a tip of the hat to Cornelius Vanderbilt and the great shipping fleets of the world he and the Vanderbilt family adored. As our mansion is only a short drive from the Vanderbilt Estate - the influence is strong. The Biltmore is still the largest private home in America and is now the most visited winery in America. We think this says a lot about where we live, in Western North Carolina. The desk has tons of tiny drawers and there are hidden items in each drawer to find and discover! Along the bulkheads are lighthouses and ships, spyglasses and shells, log books and scrolls of antique paper as well as shiny brass lanterns, cutlasses, iron handguns, knives, and swords. We have been shocked by how many ladies want to stay in this room! Spectrum TV with 1000+ channels and music, FM/AM stereo player with CD/DVD. Business Platinum 460 Mbps Wi-Fi. player.

Signature Dish

Werner's Strammer Max
A great Chef friend of mine from Austria taught me how to make this dish from Salzburg - the famed Strammer Max of bread on a buttered skillet, Black Forest Ham, Swiss Cheeses and two eggs over easy on top! We continue to serve it and honor Werner from a town where the Sound of Music was filmed, Salzburg, Austria - a town I enjoyed visiting. We have also begun to serve the famous Cleveland Club sandwich made famous in Cleveland County, NC by my chef wife, Stormy and I.
