Trip to see Biltmore was enhanced staying at this darling B&B. Lovely surroundings and near to town.
Thank you for taking the time to write a review! We're glad you loved the Biltmore and that you were able to come back to decompress and relax here. The Chihuly exhibit is going to be great to enjoy until Fall comes and we can continue to enjoy everything downtown that is walking distance from our inn

aside from quality ingredients, prep and plating it was just a nice way to start the day. There is an art to hovering over diners and Frank is adept at that art. Promoting pleasant conversations while keeping the meal on track, peppered in with some great laughs and useful info on Asheville, Fully recommended by my Wife and I.
*** We are now under new management*** Thank you for taking the time to give us some feedback on your recent stay with us. We take pride in our breakfast and think our new chef has been doing an incredible job as well. We will be sure to pass your thoughts on to him as well. We are glad you enjoyed Frank's finely tuned skills of working a room as well! We appreciate your input and hope to have you back soon.

The suite was great..great ambience and fireplace and bedroom was spectacular. The owner served a great breakfast each day. We loved the privacy of the Carriage house and would recommend it for those looking to rekindle the romance. The housekeeping was a bit off and would expect better service for such a wonderful place.
We appreciate you taking the time to write a review. We have recently made some changes with our housekeeping and are getting them up to speed with service quality and expectations. We appreciate your patience while here and will strive to make the appropriate corrections for your next visit! Thank you for staying with us

Compared to our experiences at other BandBs we were disappointed. To recap: No bottled water, no ice, no evening wine/beer/cheese social hour, No storage for our bikes (they have an exercise area, greenhouse, and covered back porch), and we were only couple in the house. We felt some effort could have been made at accommodating our request. Day 1 breakfast all sweets, no protein; Day 2 breakfast - eggs, tasteless sausage, excellent OJ, good coffee and yummy, warm apple pie. Not pleased that the owner, who was sick Day 1, was in the kitchen Day 2 coughing while we had our breakfast. Unsure if he prepared any of the meal, but he should not have been in the kitchen that morning (this while people are sick and dying from the flu). Overall experience was a negative for us.

My wife and I had the pleasure of spending a couple of nights at the WhiteGate Inn. The staff was extremely helpful with anything we needed, to include recommendations for things to do in the Asheville area. Our fireplace in our room became a daily retreat for us since the weather stayed in the 20's during the day. We will definitely be visiting again and would recommend the WhiteGate in highly!

Your decor was perfect throughout. I grew up in a 1895 home so I was very comfortable. Radiators were standard throughout. Thank you for your hospitality. Pat Dube

We celebrated our 49th anniversary here. The staff is friendly and gave solid advice on dinner spots, entertainment and other places to visit in the area. BUT the breakfasts were wonderful, creative, and delicious. Frank is an enthusiastic host with funny personal stories, adding to the total experience.

My husband & I had a special occasion to celebrate & so we were looking for a B&B to make it an extra special get away. We were striving to make an informed decision based on reviews, pictures & price so that we would be sure we had a destination that lived up to our hopes; but when we drove up to the Whitegate Inn, our hearts sank. The pictures tell a different story than what the Whitegate Inn actually looks like. The grounds were badly overgrown & unkempt. The inside of the main house was creepy, & had a tacky, hodge podge of colors & antiques. Not that the antiques weren't real, it just felt random, poorly decorated, & not a place you wanted to spend time. When you go to a B&B you are typically expecting a more refined atmosphere. Upon check in, when we used the lobby bathroom in the main house, there were multiple Lysol cans & pink soap that looked like it would be in a gas station restroom. However, as we walked by the neighboring B&B's, they appeared to be just what we were looking for, with beautifully manicured gardens, & a warm, inviting feel. We honestly never write reviews, but we did not want another couple to be mislead & disappointed.
With its huge fireplace, handsome four-poster bed, plush pillows and 18th Century style mahogany furniture, the Robert Frost Room, takes you on a trip back to an earlier age. Surround yourself with the authentic look and feel of the 1889 WhiteGate Inn's original master bedroom, with its red-hued walls, polished hardwood floors and period furniture, including a Chippendale desk circa 1790.
Curl up with a good book or listen to the gentle splash of the east lawn waterfalls in the soothing Emily Dickinson Suite. This light-filled set of rooms overlooks the 1889 WhiteGate Inn's award-winning gardens and comes with a floral flourish, both in its view and décor.
Toast your traveling companion as you look out at the twinkling lights of downtown Asheville from the Dorothy Parker Room. The room is both elegant and charmingly modern with its solid oak Mission-style furniture, teal walls and art deco artwork.
With its stuffed easy chairs, straight lines and handsome, masculine furnishings, the Carl Sandburg Suite is reminiscent of an English gentleman's bedroom. Sink into the leather sofa and pour yourself some gin. Or sink instead into the exquisite jetted tub before indulging in the European style shower.
Handsome antique furniture, old-fashioned vases filled with fresh-cut flowers and a glowing gas log fireplace, the 1889 WhiteGate Inn's Guest Cottage is a private escape that rekindles relationships and stokes new ones. A haven for honeymooners and couples celebrating milestone anniversaries, it draws lovebirds of all sorts in search of soothing solitude.
Pamper yourself and your partner in this beautifully appointed suite where luxury, fine linens lush garden views and a lounging hot tub come together for the most romantic of getaways. The Walt Whitman Garden Spa Suite is the very essence of elegance, with its handsome king size mahogany bed, soothing blue French toile and imported Italian tile. All of it is accented by the inn's original 1889 stonewalls.
The sleek, earth tone accented Maya Angelou Suite, located in the WhiteGate Carriage House, offers you a fresh and calming private retreat. With its wheat and dark green highlights and contemporary black furniture, this modern suite invites reading, relaxing and other soothing pursuits. Cuddle on the ebony, king-size canopy bed as you watch flames flicker in the stacked stone fireplace. Or sip some iced tea from a comfy sitting room loveseat. Then gaze at the 1889 WhiteGate Inn's award-winning garden from your private perch on the suite's rocking chair porch.
Decorated in a warm camel with rich red accents the Ralph Waldo Emerson Suite, located in the WhiteGate Carriage House, charms you the moment you enter. The centerpiece of this elegant suite is its king size canopy bed, a replica of George Vanderbilt's bed from the Biltmore Collection. Savor its luxurious look and feel, then kick off your shoes and crawl beneath the covers. An 18-foot vaulted ceiling soars above a stacked stone fireplace, adding elegance to this statuesque suite. Flip the switch on the gas logs and cuddle in the cozy glow with your companion. Then step outside on the suite's rocking chair porch and take in the front row view of downtown Asheville twinkling against the backdrop of the western mountains.
From its stacked stone fireplace to gleaming hardwood floors, the Elizabeth Barrett Browning Suite, located in the WhiteGate Carriage House, offers you a soothing, natural retreat. Set high up in the trees, the woodsy feel is reflected in the suite's décor, from dark taupe accents to its oak and metal furniture and pounded metal lamps. Cuddle with a companion on the king size bed, admiring its soaring canopy of wood and iron. Then turn on the gas log fireplace and bask in the glow, as you sip a glass of wine or two.
