This unusual B&B deserves high marks, particularly for its fabulous location. The River Ranch is, true to its name, right on a river. What an idyllic spot. I jumped in for a refreshing dip - river shoes recommended, 'cause the bottom can be a little pebbly. The rooms are nicely appointed. If you're looking a getaway where you can commune with nature, this place is for you.

We love River Ranch so much, that we went back again in the course of one month, and this time we brought the whole family with us! River Ranch is a quiet, country rustic/modern log home that is nestled amongst pines and oaks, with a large deck overlooking the river, but is only eight minutes from the city! It is really gorgeous, and a place for the whole family, or a couple to rejuvenate and reconnect. For our girls birthday, we rented out the tree house suite, which is the entire top level of the cabin. I must say, I was VERY impressed! I loved every detail, from the number of beds (there were four total upstairs) and soft, magnificently outfitted beds, to the pure, organic soaps, shampoos and other amenities--and let's not forget the gorgeous views of the river and the morning sun coming in the upstairs loft windows, making mirrors sparkle, and high thread count white bed linens seem whiter and even more inviting. The children enjoyed the koi fish, ponies, playing on the sandy beach, and the river. We grilled out on the deck, sang happy birthday, and enjoyed being together as a family. Since there was noone else renting the place, we had the whole house to ourselves, and I cannot tell you how nice that was. After the children were in bed, we drank wine by firelog light under the stars, just kicking back and relaxing. Here, you really can have it all. This place has not left any stone unturned nor spared any expense to make your stay comfortable and pampered. I rate River Ranch up there with some of the best 5 star rated B&B's and the best part is, they do not charge for extra amenities, as so many B&B's do! You will not be disappointed. note: I could not rate the dining high, since no dining is offered, but the continental breakfast is good, and is offered in the best atmosphere possible--in a comfortable Tennessee hand-crafted rocking chair, just the right amount of cool shade, morning sun shining, overlooking the river. Could it get any better?

After all my years of travel and of staying at B & Bs, I can honestly say that the River Ranch stands as my favorite. We were there just before my son's deployment overseas and were able to have a Christmas celebration with him complete with Christmas tree, dinner, and gift exchange. Tiffany, the manager, was very helpful. All three of the guest rooms are lovely and VERY comfortable. This place is about good taste and casual elegance. I loved sitting out on three different decks and also out by the river with three hundred acres to buffer us from the rest of the world. A lovely escape.

River Ranch exceeded our expectations on every level. The property was secluded and private, but very accessible to town. The decor of the common areas and specifically the rooms was rustic and elegant - which is very hard to find. The bathrooms featured high end products which is special treat you don't usually see in a B&B. Tiffany was very helpful with restaurant, shopping information and basically anything we needed to may our stay perfect. We were there for a college roommate reunion trip. The Riverfront Screened Porch was great for sipping wine, playing cards and catching up - all while taking in the beautiful view of the Bowie River. If you miss your Grandmother's cooking be sure to eat at Mack's on the River. It's right down the road and only open Thurs - Sunday lunch. This property would be a great place for small family gatherings, business retreats, reunions or intimate weddings. Our mistake - we didn't stay long enough. We are already planning a trip back. However, next time we want to share it with more friends and plan to rent the WHOLE house!
