Best stay in independence Missouri

5 on March 13, 2016

Well when you think about a bed and breakfast this is the place to go in Missouri! What makes a great bed and breakfast besides the house it self is beautiful! It's all about the hospitality! It's akward enough to go into someones home that you don't even know but when you got a great hostess like Perry and Melaine you feel like family. They make you feel so welcome! The house is so beautiful, the bedrooms are very comfortable. They have free WiFi and have netflix. Bathrooms r very clean and nice. Location was great. But u can't forget the complementary breakfast! They make a very delicious breakfast! We stayed three night for our ten year anniversary and we r looking forward to coming back in the future!

The Perfect Surprise

5 on March 05, 2016

I took my husband to the Silver Heart Inn as a surprise birthday present. We both absolutely adored the place! Sadly, we had made plans for early the next morning. If I had known how much we would enjoy ourselves, I would have made a point to schedule a longer stay! Many bed and breakfasts struggle to maintain a balance between being warm and inviting or completely nonintrusive. Melanie and Perry have the balance down to an art. They were incredibly accommodating, conversational, and friendly. Yet, when we wanted our alone time, it was as if we had our own oasis. We really enjoyed the care and warmth they put into our stay. The bed and breakfast itself was comfortable and cozy. The crackling fireplace, warm colors, and beautiful linens in the Shirley Gamble room made me feel like royalty. The room also has gorgeous wood floors and enough space and sound resistance for dancing. My husband and I were able to have a romantic night filled music and dancing in our room without disturbing a single guest. The Silver Heart Inn was the perfect place for us to experience both the solitude and warm welcoming I was looking for. Following our romantic evening, we had to pack up and prepare for our departure. I was impressed with the space and cleanliness in both our room and the bathroom. With such a grand, historic house, you would think it would be difficult to keep the space clean. However, there were no signs of a struggle. Everything was as tidy and clean as if it took them no effort at all. Breakfast impressed me even beyond the charm of our room. Melanie’s cooking blew the high end hotels and resorts’ breakfasts I’ve been to out of the water. Everything is cooked with fresh, seasonal, and local foods. The atmosphere during breakfast was cozy and inviting, so much so that we left eager to return again. In fact, I am currently planning our next stay at the beautiful Silver Heart Inn!!! --Holly

Great Weekend

If you are looking for a great place to get away, this is it! The innkeeper was an amazing hostess and the food was beyond what I had expected. We stayed in the Beach Cottage on property and it was definitely a home away from home; very comfortable and relaxing. Looking forward to going back!

Loving home.

My wife and I have stayed here twice now and are making plans for many more. This house is so beautiful and peaceful and the stay here is so much better than a hotel room. The family is loving and will make you feel at home and if you are needing anything in town, it is pretty close to everything. Also if you are wanting to hear some great history stories about this home they will have some.

Can't wait to go back!

If you are looking for all the comforts of home and a relaxing atmosphere, Silver Heart Inn B&B is the place to go. We had a group of four that stayed at the beach cottage last weekend for our annual trip. It was by far the best place we have stayed at. They have the most amazing complimentary breakfast and the owners are the sweetest couple that made us feel so welcome. We highly recommend!

Everything was great!

I stayed 4 nights; bed was comfortable, AC & fan worked great, bathroom was clean and food was amazing. I had a meeting 1 morning; wanted to sleep in other mornings and they worked with me on the time for breakfast. There is also a nice patio area to hang outside (if the mosquitoes let you).

Cozy and Comfortable

My boyfriend and I stayed one night in the Shirley Gamble Room at Silver Heart Inn for a weekend trip for our two year anniversary. We were the only guests that night so we got to see all of the rooms and even went on a little Christmas Tree tour. Melanie and Perry did a wonderful job decorating for the holidays and the entire house had a very happy and peaceful vibe. Each room has a distinct feel and and we would have been happy staying in any of them. The room and robes were luxurious and the food was fantastic. The garlic cheddar biscuits were worth every calorie :) We'll definitely be back.

Innkeeper Response
What a joyous time of year to stay at the inn. We put a great deal of effort into holiday preparations so that guests will feel as if they were "home for the holidays". Themed rooms make for fun decorating and exploration. I am happy to hear of your enjoyment in discovering each one. Thank you for choosing to share your anniversary here with us. We wish you many happy returns to Silver Heart Inn.

Girls Weekend

5 on July 08, 2014

My daughters and I explored Independence, MO and enjoyed the opportunity of staying in this Bed and Breakfast. We hope to stay there again next year. The family is blessed with a hospitable nature and talent in preparing different types of breakfasts. They were able to guide me through the town knowing that I had my two little girls with me. We enjoyed the Beach Cottage, it was perfect.

Innkeeper Response
It makes me so very happy to hear that you thoroughly enjoyed your stay and made such special memories. Time like that is precious for sure. I do love to cook and add new menu items frequently. There is so much to do in Independence! I'm sure that on your return I will be able to suggest many more things to do. See you again next year!

Loved it!

5 on January 31, 2014

My husband and I spent two nights in the Shirley Gamble Room. We stayed over the Veterans Day holiday. Our room was spacious and very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice too. Melanie and Perry were very friendly and welcoming. Melanie's breakfasts were filling and delicious! Melanie was wonderful about accommodating my dietary restrictions. The inn is located near a lot of attractions and restaurants. We had such a nice and relaxing time. We highly recommend this inn to others. We will definitely be returning in the future.

Innkeeper Response
The Shirley Gamble room is so very romantic and spacious for an extended stay. Cooking for guests is a true pleasure for me. I have learned many new things as an innkeeper, especially about restricted dietary menus. I love the challenge of providing an amazing breakfast for all guests. Getting to know you was wonderful for us too and we look forward to your next stay!

Thanksgiving Save

5 on December 13, 2013

My wife and I were traveling from Denver to Florida and stayed at the Silver Heart Inn. We arrived on Thanksgiving around 6:00pm. We asked Melenie if she could recommend a place to eat. Without a thought, she offered to make us a turkey dinner. We didn't want her to go out of her way, but she insisted. What a meal, all the fixings, turkey, garlic mashed potatoes, dressing, cranberries, and a slice of pecan pie. We though traveling on Thanksgiving would mean missing the holiday with friends and family, we were wrong. Melanie treated us just like family and made us feel very welcome. I can't say enough about our experience at the Silver Heart Inn. The next morning the breakfast was better than the dinner the night before. Owning the Inn was a life long dream of hers and it shows. If you want a place to stay that is friendly and special, this is it.

Innkeeper Response
We have a favorite saying here at Silver Heart, "Come as a guest, leave as a friend." We so enjoyed talking with you by the fireplace and sharing a proper Thanksgiving dinner with our new "family ". With all of the distance that you needed to drive, I 'm glad that you also had the privacy, quiet and rest that you needed as well.
