Red Brick Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast

17364 Highway MM , Higginsville, 64037 USA (Show map)

Red Brick Farmhouse Bed and Breakfast is a 3 acre country retreat nestled on an 180 acre farm, in the picturesque rural outskirts of Higginsville, Missouri. This 1920s prairie style farmhouse, with its original 9 1/2 foot ceilings and old pine floors has been carefully renovated to recapture the allure of a bygone era. Upon entering the farmhouse you are first greeted by the charming front porch, perfect for relaxing and viewing the yard with its dozens of mature shade trees and surrounding pastures and fields. The farmhouse also offers a large dining room and living room just for our guests, with a fireplace, a flat screen television and a DVD player for your personal enjoyment. We are located just 10 minutes north of I-70 at the 13 Hwy Exit (Exit 49), 60 minutes from the Country Club Plaza, 55 minutes from downtown Kansas City, and 45 minutes from the Kansas City Royals and Kansas City Chiefs Stadium. In for a little sightseeing, Red Brick Farmhouse is located just a short drive from the Confederate State Park, Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, and Civil War Sites. In addition to historic sites, numerous of the finest wineries and orchards in Missouri are nearby. Take a drive or ride on the Old Trails Road Scenic Byway, Route 24, for a car or motorcycle tour that will reset your pace from city life. The proprietors of Red Brick Farmhouse also run a nearby restaurant, Red Shanty BBQ and Roadside Cafe, open Wed and Thur, 11am to 9pm and Fri and Sat, 11am to 10 pm.

We loved our stay.

We came to Higginsville, MO for a family reunion and stayed at the beautifully and lovingly decorated home. This place has the best breakfast around. The proprietor's Quiche Loraine was off the hook, along with the homemade jam, fresh berries, yogurt and granola. We loved this place and will be coming back there when we return to the following reunions.

Great Escape!

We met friends for our 4-day stay in Emma's Room and had an amazing time! The history of the charming home and the serene countryside coupled with the Dittmer's amazing cooking and hospitality made for a trip filled with memories we will keep forever. The accommodations were all top-notch -- pristine and wonderfully authentic for a step back in time. So, so nice1 We'll be back!

Perfect peaceful, country farm house.

I have stayed at the Red Brick Farmhouse three times and each time enjoy it just a little more. The rooms are large but very cozy. There is a lot to take in but you never feel that it is cluttered or over-decorated. The bathrooms are just right for the era of the home but still comfortable and modern. I have stayed in Emma's Room and John and Hilda's bedroom and found the mattresses very comfortable. The grounds are meticulously maintained as is the full house. It is spotless. I really enjoyed the holiday decorations at Christmas and the patriotic planters on the 4th of July. Just a few miles from I-70 but you feel like you are really far off the beaten path. Annette is an excellent cook and breakfast was so good. Be sure to check out the Red Shanty for lunch or dinner too. Again, a feast for the eyes and body.

Wonderful Get-Away

My friend and I stayed here for a girls' weekend and it was absolutely everything we could have wanted! The house itself is full of interesting, charming, and unusual decorations. Probably the cleanest place I have stayed. Every amenity had been thought of by the owners. They go above and beyond in all aspects. We stayed in Edwin's Room which has two beds. This and the two other bedrooms on the upper level are decorated in period appropriated decor and are comfortable and homey. The bathroom is super big and has a great claw-footed tub with an added shower. The two breakfasts we had there were simply delicious! I would highly recommend the Red Brick Farmhouse to anyone who wants a country get-away and great service.

I Only Wish I Lived Closer!

Some of our plans fell through and we were needing a place to stay in this area of Missouri. I found this B&B on your website and couldn't have been happier! This place might be one of the best B&Bs where I ever stayed. The pictures on the website were completely as shown and Annette and Kenton couldn't have been any nicer! We stayed in John & Hilda's room and loved looking out the windows onto the back of the property. The front porch is extremely inviting and we sat out there until it got dark on Friday and then sat on it again on early Saturday. The grounds are just so peaceful and this B&B is an absolute hidden gem! We used the WIFI and had no problems connecting. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and we enjoyed hearing stories from the owners about the history of the area and how they got into the business. I only wish this place was closer to home so I could stay there more frequently. Please do yourself a favor--treat yourself to a peaceful getaway and you won't be disappointed! I'm hoping that, someday, that I'll be able to return here!

Lovely Country Farmhouse

Enjoyed our stay at this lovely farmhouse out in the country. So peaceful and quiet, cows in the pasture across the road, and you can hear many birds singing in the trees. Enjoyed a very nice breakfast, and visit with the owners. Would definitely stay there again. The Engelbrecht's from Colorado.
