Best Bed & Breafast! Truly a Gem!

5 on February 21, 2018

Marla and Joe rolled out the red carpet for my husband and I during a birthday weekend in November! We’ve already booked for our anniversary in July. Everything from the scrumptious 3 corse breakfast each morning to the warm Hospitality and unique most comfortable room is something we will never forget! We are huge fans of bed and breakfasts and Queens residence set the bar pretty high for our future B&B adventures. I still to this day dream of those homemade cookies and the aroma of her superb breakfasts and the company of Joe & Marla. Thank you!

Innkeeper Response
Reviews like this is why I love being an innkeeper so much! We are so glad that we were able to help make your birthday weekend special. We look forward to seeing you both again in July.

Amazing Place to kickback and Relax!

5 on January 06, 2018

The Queen’s Residence was one of our favorite B&B’s experiences. The house is quiet, clean, and beautiful. Marla and Joe go out of their way to make you feel at home. The Queen’s suite was luxurious and the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and delicious. It’s proximity to Ann Arbor gives you a wide array of dining options as well. Great place - we highly recommend it!!

Innkeeper Response
We are delighted that you had a good experience with us and enjoyed our inn! One of the nice things about our location is that your have options for what to do and where to go with everything being in close proximity, whether it is Ann Arbor, Detroit, or just going to the airport. Thanks for pointing that out. Hopefully you will come back for another visit.

Queens Residence Lives up to their Name! Top Notch B & B

5 on December 19, 2017

My husband & I Had the pleasure of staying for 2 nights and planing to stay another weekend in January for my Bday! Let me just start by saying that Marla & Joe were by far the most gracious hosts and inn keepers. The scrumptious Breakfast both mornings were dressed with fine china and silver, plentiful portions and you can truly tell they were prepared with love. We’ve been to quite a few B&Bs from Michigan to Ohio to Kentucky and the Queens Residence is by far a B & B that will always go unmatched. Cleanest rooms we’ve ever stayed in, unique exquisite service and amenities! our experience here far more exceeded out expectations we cannot wait to visit again.

Innkeeper Response
You have left me speechless! What a complimentary review, thanks so much. Marla Queen, owner

Our stay at the Queen's Residence was beyond wonderful. Innkeepers Marla and Joe attend to an anticipate your every need. From the homemade cookies that are always available to the chilled bottles of water waiting for guests to take to their rooms in the evening to the sherry in the parlor, they have thought of everything guests need to feel welcomed and pampered. We stayed in the Barnard Room where we enjoyed the fireplace and warm comfy roads after a drizzly football game in Ann Arbor. The next time we are in the area we will definitely stay there. A delight.

This is our second time at the Queen's Residence and we have had a perfect experience both times. Gracious hosts and a house that would be worth touring only you get to stay the night! Wonderful history as well as a breakfast prepared by a wonderful cook ( I belive Marla may have real training so I probably should have said chef). We will be back!!

November 2017 Stay at Queen's Residence B&B

5 on November 14, 2017

Everything about our stay at the Queen's Residence was excellent! The house was beautiful and luxurious, the food delicious, and Joe and Marla were extremely welcoming and friendly. We would recommend this B&B to anyone wanting to stay at a place that feels like home but is a decadent experience! Recommend

I felt like a Queen

This is the best B and B. Marla and Joe are great hosts. Their home is beautiful and each suite has its own unique style. Marla creates her special recipes for breakfast and they are tasty. We will return again.

The longest stayers

5 on November 08, 2017

My wife and I stayed at The Queens Residence from 10 – 23 October and became their “longest stayers”. Marla and Joe are warm and welcoming making you feel more like family than paying guests. It’s the kind of place where after dinner you can change into pyjamas (they provide sumptuous robes) and slippers and sit in front of a roaring fire and read a good book or as in most evenings during our stay have interesting conversations with the other guests. This is a place people return to. Many return for birthdays and anniversaries or just to visit friends and relatives. The house is beautiful the photographs on the website do not do it justice. The rooms are richly furnished, the beds extremely comfortable so a good night’s sleep is assured. The marvellous breakfasts will set you up for the day and if you need a place for dinner there are fifty eateries within a mile. Downtown Ypsilanti is a five minute walk, along a well lit road, where there are at least five restaurants, including an Italian and a Vietnamese. We would recommend this exceptional B&B to anyone needing accommodation in this corner of Michigan.

Innkeeper Response
What a glowing review from our wonderful guests from across the pond! I should give you a job writing my press releases and website. We certainly hope that you will have an opportunity to come back to visit us again. Marla Queen, owner

Queen's B & B

We love staying at the Queen's residence. Marla and Joe are great and we love coming up there every year.

Wonderful heritage home.

A lovely home decorated with era appropriate antiques. Interesting history, too. Marla and Joe were welcoming and helpful. Marla was most accommodating in moving us to a quieter room at the back of the house. The breakfasts were delightful. Delicious food and a beautifully set table with linens and silver.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your lovely review. We make our best effort to see that our guests are comfortable and cared for. We are happy that you enjoyed the ambiance of our historic inn as well as my breakfasts! Please come visit us again! Marla Queen, owner

UC vs UM Weekend

5 on October 08, 2017

The Queen's Residence is an excellent B & B! This is the second time we've stayed here recently and Marla and Joe's food, service and hospitality always exceed our expectations. On a recent weekend the Residence was filled with Cincinnati, Ohio, couples. No need to say there was lots of good conversation at the breakfast table! We hope to return again.

Lovely B&B with wonderful innkeepers who make you feel right at home in their lovely residence. Breakfast was excellent and sufficiently filling to last most of the day.

Innkeeper Response
Thanks for the personal compliment. It is good to know that breakfast was both good and sustaining. Hope to see you again.

5 star September 26-27, 2017 Stay!

5 on October 01, 2017

You could not find more considerate hosts than Marla and Joe Queen. We appreciated the way they tried to accommodate us in our needs. The breakfast food was simply delicious. We would choose this B&B again. The house and its history is also very interesting. David and Velda Rohrer

Innkeeper Response
Thanks David and Velda! Since you met your sister and her husband here for a weekend get-together, I am so glad that the space worked out for you. Your card games and dominoes looked like such fun! Hopefully sister #3 can join you on your next venture. Marla Queen

Amazing atmosphere and comfort

5 on September 29, 2017

This is my first stay at the Queen's Residence and not my last! This beautifully restored home is beautiful and immaculate. The gardens and outdoor area are lovely. Stepping inside is a step into the past with modern amenities. I loved the large suite with the attached bathroom. I was traveling on business; I only wish I had more time to spend in my sitting area. I cannot say enough about the comfort of the bed and the pillows. Marla and Joe offer a welcoming atmosphere and top notch service.

Exquisite Ellegance

5 on September 26, 2017

My stay with Marla and Joe was exceptional. Their lovely home, built in 1865, is lovingly restored and furnished with high end antiques and modern touches. The rain head shower was a must after being out in the humidity all day. Individual controls for the AC assured that each person could be comfortable. The king size bed was comfortable and the linens soft and inviting. Marla's breakfasts were excellent. She is most accommodating with time schedules. For the early risers there is always fruit, yogurt, and granola with the full breakfast starting later. I hope to someday come and stay with them again!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your lovely comments about the inn and my breakfasts. Pointing out specifics such as the shower and linens is helpful to potential new guests. We hope to see you again!

A Royal Stay with a Comfy Feel

5 on September 15, 2017

Staying with Marla and Joe you are welcomed into a home of aesthetic appeal, graciousness, and culinary delight. The home and gardens are beautifully maintained and is a wonderful place to stay and relax. The attention to detail is fantastic. This is our repeat stay and we enjoyed a marvelous breakfast out in the garden with the sounds of a beautiful water element. Our bedroom included a small anti room where our son slept. Comfy, soothing, and everything you need after a long day's travel, The Queen's Residence is excellent and is a great place to call home when yu are visiting the area. Thanks again for a terrific stay!

Wonderful Stay

5 on September 06, 2017

Would highly recommend The Queen's Residence for comfort, delicious breakfast, friendly owners, unique historical accommodations, and all around beauty!

More than B&B! We feel like home!

5 on September 04, 2017

The Queen's Residence is just close to perfection! Clean, confortable, spacious, very well decorated, wonderful bedrooms and delicious breakfast, everything with a twist of history! But above all, what we get from Marla and Joe is a true sense that we are welcomed in their home. Thanks again for your huge hospitality! Paulo and Gabriel Felix

Innkeeper Response
Thanks for the accolades! We loved having Gabriel, who is an Eastern Michigan University student from Brazil, stay with us before school started. He is just a delight! Hopefully, we will see you both again. Marla Queen

Truly Outstanding!

5 on August 18, 2017

We stayed here for two nights at the beginning of our trip through southern Michigan and it was the highlight of our trip. The owners are wonderful and knowledgeable, the breakfasts were fantastic, the location is perfectly placed between downtown Ypsilanti and I-94. At the end of our trip we couldn't help but think that we should have ended our trip at the Queens Residence because no other place we stayed even came close!

Repeat Experience

5 on August 16, 2017

My wife and I stayed at The Queen in August 2017 for one night while passing through the area. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay. Joe and Marla were the consumate hosts from the minute we arrived to when we left. The house is beautiful and well maintained, our room (Hoag) was very roomy and comfortable, and the breakfast was nicely done and tasty. We enjoyed reading in the parlor, and there are several outdoor reading areas as well. There is a fair amount of history relating to Henry Ford and this house, including a 1700's pub relocated in their basement. Very nicely done! As I said, if we're back in the area again, we'll be staying at The Queen again! Thank you.

Fit for a queen.

I was so happy we chose this B & B

5 on August 01, 2017

This elegant historical home is on a beautiful street, safe to go for a pleasant walk to admire other architectural beauties, and conveniently close to shops and restaurants and parks.

Innkeeper Response
We are happy you chose our B & B too! Ypsilanti is one of the largest historic districts in Michigan so there are many beautiful historic homes here. We are just three blocks away from downtown shops and restaurants, which makes for an easy walk after a busy day of sight seeing or playing in the area. Marla Queen, innkeeper

Beautiful, historic brick home with lovely gardens.

5 on July 26, 2017

Lovely property, enjoyed interacting with owners who live onsite. Chose an upstairs suite at the back of the house to avoid street noise. Slept in a wonderful bed, very quiet, would highly recommend. Excellent coffee and breakfast.

Innkeeper Response
A quiet good night's sleep is important. especially for travelers not sleeping in their own beds, so thanks for mentioning that. Our coffee is fair trade (Equal Exchange). We buy it from our local food co-op and it is called Love Buzz; perfect for a B & B, don't you think?

- Marla Queen (innkeeper)

wonderful attention to details

5 on July 26, 2017

Our stay at the Queen's Residence was perfect. The hosts were gracious and friendly, gave us good recommendations for restaurants, and made us feel very welcome. The bed and breakfast was spotless and full of charm. We loved our room, the attention to period details, and the outside sitting area. We are hoping to go back!

Innkeeper Response
Praise can't get any higher than perfect and spotless...thanks so much! We sincerely hope we see you again.

Comfortable nice place to stay

4.0 on July 25, 2017

Queen's Residence is a very comfortable clean place to stay. Suites give you more room to relax. Breakfast is a very good and you don't go away hungry. They also provide refreshments and snacks. Tour of the Tavern was very interesting. Price is very reasonable. Could use alarm clocks in the rooms. They have internet and TV's in the rooms. Joe and Marla are great host. Off street parking. We will return when we are in the area.

Compfortable and nice accomodations, Friendly Service

5 on July 11, 2017

Hosts were gracious and accommodating for an early check-in. The suite was comfortable, clean, and tastefully decorated. Breakfast was delicious. Wish we had more time to enjoy the garden area.

Loved staying here

5 on June 12, 2017

What a wonderful place to stay if you in the Ann Arbor Michigan area. It was beautifully decorated with a Victorian decor, My favorite.I love all the antiques and pictures of Victorian Ladies. Every morning we woke up to the savory smell of a gourmet breakfast wafting up the staircase to start our day. The taste was over the top. The bed very comfy with beautiful linens. We love to sip wine in her gardens at night to end our day. I just can't say enough . I would highly recommend a stay here.

Innkeeper Response
I am so glad that you enjoy Victoriana, since it is my favorite too! A good sleep and good breakfasts are a must for a good vacation. Thank you for this lovely review. Please come see us again soon!

Pleasantly Surprised in Ypsilanti, Michigan

5 on June 10, 2017

Everything concerning our recent stay at the Queens Residence was impeccable from the hosts Joe and Marla, the Victorian Newton room and the delicious breakfast prepared by Marla. Plan to return soon.

4.6 on May 27, 2017

We stayed at the Inn as part of a surprise birthday for my wife. We stayed on a Tuesday and had the whole house to ourselves! Beautiful home, well apportioned. Joe and Marla clearly have a passion for being hosts and for their home. We enjoyed our breakfast conversations about the place. Easy access to 94. Only drawback noted was the traffic noise outside. I could see this easily fitting in to a family event with all of the options that the house provides. A lot of sitting areas to accommodate multiple conversations, even if the place was packed. Beautiful landscaping.

Very good stay

5 on May 10, 2017

This was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast and we had a very comfortabe stay at queen's residence. Joe was very kind and accommodating and the entire house was decorated beautifully. The breakfast was delicious too.

Innkeeper Response
Joe was on his own when you here while I was in Philadelphia babysitting my 3 year old granddaughter, so we are both delighted that you had a good experience! Please come back for another visit so that I can meet you too. Marla Queen

Exactly what you expect a historic B&B to be

5 on March 25, 2017

My sister and I stayed one night and would return in a heartbeat. The Queen's Residence is comfortable, well appointed, close to shopping and restaurants, and the innkeepers were friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious and generously portioned and the coffee and tea (as well as water and soft drinks) are always available. Plenty of books, movies, and games are available as well.

Innkeeper Response
The great thing about a bed and breakfast is that you can stay in and still have lots to do. I am glad that was the case for the two of you. Ypsilanti has opened another restaurant since you were here, Ollie's, so now there are even more options for dining. Marla Queen, owner

New Year's Eve

5 on January 03, 2017

We have a group of friends that we celebrate New Years with every year. This year we chose Queens Residence in Ypsilanti, Mi and it was wonderful! The Inn Keepers chose a couple of 'stand ins' for them because they normally close the Inn over the holidays, Bob & Marilyn were soooo great! We had a wonderful time. Everything was perfect. Phil & Marsha DeVergilio

Innkeeper Response
Fantastic! It is hard to leave the inn in someone else's hands, but we have complete faith in Bob and Marilyn. This is not the first "5 star" review they have earned for us and we could not appreciate them more, so thanks. We are happy that your group had a good time. Hopefully we will get a chance to host you ourselves some time.

Clean, Charming, Elegant, Comfortable!

5 on December 11, 2016

My best friend and I have stayed here a couple of times. It is SO wonderful. Beautifully and elegantly decorated and yet extremely comfortable! We rent the 2 rooms on the top floor and open the door in between and have our own 'apartment'. The breakfast is always AMAZING!! Joe and Marla are so kind and helpful. And, the little extras like home baked cookies, coffee, tea, sodas and top of the line bathroom amenities make this the PERFECT get away for any get away!

Innkeeper Response
You two are wonderful guests that we look forward to having. I know people are bonding and connecting when they don't even leave the inn for two days! The ability to open the door between the Queen and Newton Suites works great for girlfriend get-aways and family stays. We are delighted that you take advantage of this option. We look forward to your next visit!

Fantastic Stay!

5 on November 29, 2016

Our family stayed at the residence over Thanksgiving- everything was wonderful. The entire property is beautifully decorated and designed. The beds were comfortable, the rooms were immaculate, and the service was wonderful. We couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Innkeeper Response
We are glad that you found us and we certainly hope that this won't be your last stay with us! The reason that I am in this business is to provide memorable experiences and memories for people. It sounds like you won't forget yours. Thanks for your endorsement!

An 18 hour getaway

4.8 on November 01, 2016

We went to The Queen's Residence for an anniversary celebration and drove all of 10 minutes to get there--since we live in Ypsilanti. We had not known of it before this summer, and were delighted with how beautiful and cozy everything was. We had a bedroom and a sitting room, and a bathtub that was a treat to soak in. Marla and Joe were so hospitable and breakfast in the a.m. was wonderful. Highly recommend it for those who come far and not so far.

Innkeeper Response
We are always so thrilled when locals come stay with us! We are so glad you found us and that you chose to celebrate your anniversary with us. A night in a B & B is like a weeks' vacation even if it is in your home town.

Charming welcome with genuine hospitality

5 on October 23, 2016

We so enjoyed spending time in the early autumn in our cozy Gibson Suite and savoring the last warm days in Marla's and Joe's garden oasis. Relaxing with friends around the tables, enjoying the fountains and our hosts' genuine hospitality recharged us. Marla's gourmet breakfasts are extraordinary and we have met the nicest people at the Queen's Residence Inn. The Gibson Suite is charmingly decorated, a great place for a quiet read.

Innkeeper Response
I agree that we get the best guests ever! It is what makes this job so rewarding. The weather is turning colder now so we are glad you were here while you could still enjoy the gardens. Come back to see us again and I'll see what I can cook up! Marla Queen

Exceptional hospitality, elegance and serenity

5 on October 23, 2016

We loved our stay in the Gibson Suite. Marla and Joe offer exceptional hospitality, extending the warmest possible welcome. Whenever we open the back gate to their lovely garden, we can feel the stress roll off our shoulders! The elegant interiors, impeccably maintained, Marla's gourmet breakfasts and home baked welcome treats create extraordinary warmth. Relax in elegance and recharge and renew!

Innkeeper Response
I love what you said about opening the back gate and having your stress roll off your shoulders! The garden is our favorite room in nice weather, so I am glad others find it soothing as well. Thank you for your lovely compliments about the warmth and elegance of our inn. Marla Queen, owner/innkeeper

5 on September 08, 2016

We had a very nice stay. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable and breakfast was really nice each day.

A perfect place to stay, we've returned for a second visit and wouldn't look elsewhere for when we return

5 on September 06, 2016

This was our second visit and we would not look elsewhere for when we return to Ypsi to visit family. The location is perfect and convenient, the home and courtyard are charming, luxurious, and inviting. The room is perfectly appointed, like a luxury hotel but with the comfort of being home (if your home is spotless and well decorated). The innkeepers are so friendly and predict your every need.

Innkeeper Response
Oh good, we love it when people make our inn their "go to" place when visiting the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area. It is fun for us to have repeaters that we get to know a bit more each time they come. Thank you for noting that our location is convenient (to shopping, dining, and the airport) and that the inn is luxurious. Marla Queen

Timeless elegance and exceptionally warm hospitality

5 on September 04, 2016

We loved our stay in the beautiful Hoag room. The Queen's Residence is a place of timeless elegance. The gourmet breakfast was out of this world; Marla's breakfasts rival of those of noted chefs. Marla and Joe welcome guests with exceptional warmth and graciousness. We were shamelessly pampered and The Queen's Residence Bed and Breakfast allowed us to relax and renew ourselves in a setting of gracious hospitality and style. An antiquer's paradise!

Innkeeper Response
Wow! I love that you rank me right up there with noted chefs! Thanks so much! Getting pampered is why a lot of people choose a B and B over a standard hotel. Please come back for some more pampering. Marla Queen, owner

Charming, romantic b and b

5 on September 04, 2016

We spent just one night at this lovely b and b while in route to another destination. The home is beautiful with so many special Victorian touches, and the breakfast was gourmet cooked by Marla herself. Our room, the Hoag room, was gorgeous with access to a veranda. Both Marla and Joe were welcoming and left no detail undone. We were traveling with my brother and wife. We all agreed our mistake was not staying longer! If you are looking for a romantic get away or traveling in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area, you'll have a wonderful stay!

Innkeeper Response
Well I guess you will all just have to come back! You did what many of our guests do; they spend a night with us on their way to northern Michigan. This is a great way to break up the trip. Many people stay with us on their return trip as well. As I know you all go to many B and B's, your compliments are very appreciated. Marla Queen, owner

Anniversary at the Queen's Residence

4.8 on August 25, 2016

Our stay at the Queen's Residence was wonderful! Marla and Joe were very friendly and more than accommodating. They met our every need and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. The location of The residence was very close to downtown Ypsalanti and Ann Arbor making it close for many activities for us to enjoy. Our room was very clean, comfortable, and inviting. We especially liked the warm and spacious shower. Breakfast was outstanding. Many ingredients purchased for the breakfast were supplied by the local co-op and tasted so fresh and delicious. The coffee bar and homemade cookies were great for an extra snack in the afternoon and the stocked beverage refrigerator for guests was perfect for us when we were thirsty post-dinner time. We had a great stay for our anniversary. We will be back.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for celebrating your third anniversary with us, especially since you have little ones! We love introducing people to the B & B experience, and it sounds like you were not disappointed. We are so glad that you are planning a return visit. As you mentioned, the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti area has lots to offer for people looking for a getaway, especially for foodies! Thanks for all you nice comments.

Wonderful acccomodations in Yipsilanti

4.8 on August 23, 2016

My husband and I stayed at The Queen's Residence in August 2016 while visiting Ann Arbor, which is just a short drive away. The B&B is lovely. The gardens are relaxing and the porch that connected to our room was wonderful for morning coffee. The breakfast food is taken seriously by the owners and is quite delicious. The rooms were clean and the bedding comfortable. The house if period and Marla can really decorate. I would definitely recommend this B&B for anyone visiting the area. The Queens Residence is exactly why you stay at a B&B. - Thanks Marla & Joe

Innkeeper Response
I hope others considering a trip to Ann Arbor will take a cue from you and stay at The Queen's Residence. We are only seven miles east of Ann Arbor. Ypsilanti offers a small town experience, as opposed to the larger city of Ann Arbor. With that being said, there are several notable restaurants within walking distance to the inn. Thank you for your compliments about our inn. We are so glad you had a relaxing and positive experience here.

Great place to make memories while in Michigan

5 on August 08, 2016

My daughter and I discovered The Queen's Residence last year and returned this summer when we were in town for a Highland dance competition. The rooms are charming, the breakfast scrumptious, and Marla and Joe provide personal and gracious attention!

Innkeeper Response
It was so fun to have you back and to see your daughter in her Highland dance costume. Did you see the posting on our Facebook page? We hope to see you again next year!

Ideal in every way!

5 on June 28, 2016

My stay at the Queen's Residence was for a women's retreat facilitated by a wonderful author. The experience was unquestionably enhanced because of the beautiful environment, inside and out! Each detail of this Inn is exquisite and deserves to be savored. And speaking of savoring; The food was wonderful and the warmth and hospitality of Innkeepers, Marla and Joe, added to the lovely retreat experience. I cannot recommend this Inn highly enough...for any purpose to treat and inspire yourself, your family or friends, or your business team. This will be an investment in time and money well spent!

Innkeeper Response
That was a great retreat and I was so glad to be a participant as well as hostess. One of the benefits of being an innkeeper is that you are exposed to so many types of people and have the opportunity to grow as in this case with the women's retreat. I hope other groups see your review and decide to hold their retreats or meetings here. There inn has good energy!

We Love The Queen's Residence!

5 on June 13, 2016

You can't go wrong here!!! Absolutely everything is done to perfection, comfort, and luxury. Clean, clean, clean. Breakfast is fabulous! This is probably our 4th or more stay here and we always stay in the Hoag room. Have family that lives nearby and we would rather come here after fun with the family for the quiet and pampering. This stay we had fill in innkeepers as Marla and Joe were out of town. Marilyn and Bob did a FABULOUS job! If we were newbies, we would have never known that they were not the owners. They took care of us like it was their own. You are in good hands here, no matter who is in charge. Will be back in July! Can't wait.

Innkeeper Response
It is not easy to leave your inn in someone else's care, so to get this kind of glowing review on behalf of our inn sitters, Marilyn and Bob, makes me feel much more at ease. Thank you for being loyal guests!

Excellent Stay

5 on June 07, 2016

Stayed one night at the Queen's Residence in the Gibson Suite -- had a fantastic stay! Suite was comfortable and tastefully decorated -- we really appreciated the separate sitting room -- great for relaxing! We happened to be the only people staying at the house that night so had full access and privacy to all sitting areas and porches on the main floor -- even if there had been more guests at the time; however, there are so many different areas to relax in that you would still definitely be able to be alone -- or socialize -- whatever your preference! Breakfast was excellent as well -- yogurt, granola, fresh fruit, bacon & banana nut french toast. Didn't meet Joe & Marla as they were on vacation but the stand-in hosts, Bob & Marilyn, took great care to ensure our stay was enjoyable, and they were also very knowledgable about the house and its history which we found very interesting! Would definitely come back. Gardens are beautiful!

Innkeeper Response
Hopefully you will come back so we can meet you! I asked Marilyn for that recipe by the way. We are glad you enjoyed your room and the other areas of the inn. We are blessed to have such good inn sitters!

My stay at the Queen’s Residence was fantastic. An impromptu visit to Ann Arbor with my mother and sister was delightful. I have stayed in many different B&Bs across the country and I feel this was truly the best one I’ve ever experienced. I would highly recommend The Queen’s Residence. Marla and Joe are very welcoming to their home. The guest rooms are beautifully decorated, the beds very comfortable and the bathrooms very modern. Marla’s breakfasts are delicious, truly gourmet. A tour of the historic tavern was a real treat. I was the one that felt like a Queen at The Queen’s Residence!!

Innkeeper Response
We use to use the tag line, "prepare to be pampered" because we make it our mission to provide a relaxing, quality experience for all of our guests. Every one likes to be treated like a queen once in awhile, so I am so glad that you felt you were. A good night sleep in a comfortable bed sure doesn't hurt either!

The perfect "home away from home" for your getaway!

5 on March 19, 2016

My husband and I stayed here in the Hoag room for two nights while exploring Ann Arbor. We loved everything about our experience. The room was gorgeous and immaculately maintained. Marla prepared hot gourmet breakfasts for us each morning. Joe and Marla were both friendly and helpful, with good recommendations for restaurants and lots of great stories. Make sure you ask to see the old tavern downstairs if you visit! As a young couple this was our first "bed and breakfast" trip, and now we're worried Joe and Marla may have spoiled us so much that no other place will ever measure up.

Innkeeper Response
You are always welcome to come back here! I love turning newbies (first time B & B goers) onto the B & B experience, so I am delighted that I made two new converts.

Weekend Getaway

4.8 on March 01, 2016

My husband and I came to the Queen's Residence for a weekend getaway. The house is beautiful, and the breakfast is amazing! We were able to see Ypsilanti as well as Ann Arbor, we had a great time!

Innkeeper Response
The B & B experience is catching on with the millennials, as your stay with us attests to. We are so glad you gave it a try and had a good time. Please come again and I'll cook another "amazing" breakfast for you.

A Home Away from Home

5 on January 31, 2016

This place is amazing! We literally forgot about all of our stress and worries during our stay. The entire home is pristine and immaculate, no dirt or dust anywhere. The owners were very nice and professional and breakfast was better than a 5 star restaurant. When you stay here you'll feel like your in a different era. So cozy. We will be back! I'd recommend this B&B to everyone.

Innkeeper Response
The reason I decided to have a B & B is for the exact reason you said. Whenever I go to one, I too, forgot my stress and worries! Everyone wants assurance that the place they choose to stay will be clean, so I truly appreciate your comment about the cleanliness of our inn. More than anything else you said, however, I love, love, love the part about my breakfast being better than a 5 star restaurant! How could I not love this job when I get a compliment like that? Thanks so much. When can we expect to see you again?

- Marla Queen, owner (innkeeper)

lovely place to stay

5 on November 09, 2015

Joe and Marla were wonderful hosts. We wanted to check in early and that was no issue at all. We also had some dietary restrictions which were well taken care of. The breakfast was excellent. Enjoyed a relaxing well cooked, delicious breakfast during our stay. Overall a very good experience and are planning to stay there agin on our next trip.

Innkeeper Response
We try to be as accommodating as we can for our guests so that you have the best experience possible. So if that means an early check-in, no problem (as long as we get the room cleaned!) or catering to dietary restrictions, yes we will do it. I am glad you were happy with our service. We look forward to seeing you on your next trip.

Amazing Bed and Breakfast

5 on October 26, 2015

Stayed a weekend for our anniversary. The house is beautiful and Marla and Joe are wonderful hosts. The food is great and the rooms are so comfortable. Defiantly worth a stay if you're in Ypsi.

Innkeeper Response
We love the fact that so many couples celebrate their anniversaries, wedding night, and birthdays with us. To be able to provide a romantic space for couples is so rewarding for me.

A Lovely Place to Stay

5 on September 22, 2015

Queen's Residence is one of the loveliest B & B's we've visited (and we've visited a great many). Joe & Marla are excellent host & hostess, the food was delicious, and Marla is so friendly and had wonderful suggestions for things to do and see in the area. We were within walking distance of downtown Ypsilanti and just a 1/2 hour drive to Greenfield. We truly enjoyed our stay.

Innkeeper Response
When a seasoned B & B goer says that we are one of the loveliest inns they have stayed in, a feel that I have truly accomplished what I set out to do when I decided to open a B & B. Thank you so much! It further enhances the experience if the food is good and the innkeepers are helpful. So thanks on that score as well. We have been getting more and more guests who come to go to Greenfield Village. This is a good tip for others who may be thinking of doing that.

A Royal Residence in Ypsilanti, Michigan!

5 on July 26, 2015

I previously stayed at The Queen's Residence B&B for one night in the Barnard Room, which is lovely. This time I reserved the first floor Hoag Room, named after a previous owner, has two entrances - off the dining room, and the other leading directly to a veranda with soaring pillars. The Hoag Room is decorated in reds, golds and browns, with period detail and many antiques. There is a step-in shower of beautiful white and gray marble and a seating area within, a vanity with mirror just outside the shower, and a separate bathroom with lo-flo toilet and sink (the toilet/sink room has a door that may be closed). I stayed for almost a week, and each morning the breakfast was different, and always delicious. Marla works with each guest's usual food choices (if they don't eat meat, for example) but I think I was pretty easy, as I loved everything she served! Joe and Marla are cheerful, friendly, wonderful people who do everything to assure each guest that they will have a wonderful time during their stay. Be sure to see the Wild Turkey Tavern in the basement! As soon as I left, I was already wanting to return!

Innkeeper Response
New guests are more likely to pay attention to what previous guests have to say about a place than the owners themselves. Well, you gave a good description of the Hoag room for sure! I am glad you like my breakfasts and appreciate that I try to accommodate individual dietary needs. And yes, our historic colonial tavern is a must see. We will look forward to seeing you next year when you come back.

5 on March 29, 2015

My wife travels for business a lot and has the hotel experience down. I always try to set up our getaways without the hotel "feel" so that it's relaxing. I came across The Queen's Residence while searching online, and to our amazement it was the best search I've done in a long time! Marla and Joe the Innkeepers, were absolutely superb, welcoming us just like family. The residence as well as our room, the Hoag Room, was beautifully appointed to the T. Breakfast the following morning was outstanding, every accommodation was made for gluten free exceptions and allergies right down to the cookies Marla made special for my wife!! I would highly recommend Queen's Residence and be sure to check out the turn of the century tavern, we will be going back...soon!! John & Suzette

Innkeeper Response
It gives us great pleasure to know we made the grade given the fact that Suzette travels so much and has a wide base of comparison. We pride ourselves on making sure no one goes away hungry even if there are dietary restrictions to consider. We are so happy you enjoyed yourselves. We look forward to your return visit. Thanks for the glowing review! Marla Queen, owner/innkeeper

Another Wonderful Visit

5 on March 09, 2015

My husband and I spent another lovely night at the Queen's Residence. We've been guests here a few times before and always spend time in the living room with friends who travel with us. Unlike some innkeepers, Marla and Joe don't make pests of themselves -- they are the perfect hosts in this beautiful bed & breakfast! The home is gorgeous without being stuffy. I'm sure we'll be back!

Innkeeper Response
We are so glad our inn has worked out well for you and your friends. We try to "read" our guests to judge our level of interaction, so it appears we were on target with you. Obviously, when you come as a group the whole point is to visit with each other. Our job is just to make sure you have everything you need. Maybe the third couple will be able to join you again for the next visit! Marla Queen, owner/innkeeper

Wonderful Weekend

5 on December 18, 2014

My husband and I had a wonderful weekend at The Queen's Residence. The home is beautiful. Breakfast was wonderful. Joe and Marla are the perfect innkeepers. We found so many fun things to do in the area - I think we will need to visit again next year!

Innkeeper Response
Great! We are so glad you had fun and can't wait to see you again next year.

4.8 on November 09, 2014

my wife and I have made a tradition of spending a weekend near our anniversary at various b and bs. we have always been fond of the ann arbor area. We had researched a couple of establishments and couldn't have been more pleased that we chose the queen's residence. the proprietors were both incredibly friendly and the accommodations and breakfasts were amazing. we commented to joe and marla that while this has been our tradition for several years, the queens residence will likely be our first return visit to any of the bed and breakfasts we have stayed at!

Innkeeper Response
We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We look forward to your return visit!

5 on October 13, 2014

This was our first stay in a B&B. It won't be our last but I'd venture to say few will meet out expectations after staying at the Queen's Residence. Joe and Marla are the most gracious hosts and go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. The rooms are beautiful, all taking you a step back in time. The breakfasts are elegant and delicious. Don't miss the tavern when you stay!!!!

Innkeeper Response
Great, another convert! Hope to see you again soon.

5 Stars

5 on October 09, 2014

I enjoyed my stay at this bed and breakfast, I stayed the 1st weekend of Oct 2014 and what a delight it was. I enjoyed this place so much, I did not want to go home after my 2 nights. The rooms were very clean and the best linen were on the beds. I celebrated my boyfriends 35th birthday here and we both enjoyed this place just the same. The breakfast was a true delight, we were surprised each morning w/fruit and granola which was excellent and a different breakfast treat/dish each morning. There was enough food to make us both full. I will stay at this place again, can't wait to possible go back in Jan 2015 to celebrate a new year. The house is very quiet and the decor is suburb. I enjoyed everything about my stay at this bed and breakfast, this was our first time staying at a bed and breakfast. Anntoinette Johnson

Innkeeper Response
Anntoinette, I am so glad that you decided to celebrate Ray's birthday at The Queen's Residence. Even though it was your first B & B experience, you certainly did it right with a couples massage and a romantic dinner in the tavern! We look forward to your return visit.

Orphan Car Show

5 on September 24, 2014

This was our second visit. Oh!, what gracious hosts are Marla and Joe! Dare I say the breakfasts are simply marvelous, or better. No, I'm not being paid to write this! For us, a perfect location -- within a short walking distance to Riverside Park and Depot Town. We will return!

Innkeeper Response
Thanks for the good PR! We love having you AND your terrific car. It sounds like we will have the pleasure of your company again next year.

our home away from home

5 on September 24, 2014

We have stayed at this Inn seven or eight different times over the last few years. First we stayed in the Newton suite and the last three stays in the Gibson suite. Each room has been comfortable and quiet. Breakfast is always plentiful, delicious and changes daily. The fireplace in the dining room adds to a nice environment. There is a Keurig coffee machine and cookies in the afternoon. In the evening we enjoy sipping a glass of sherry in our suite. Pleasant patio to sit when the weather is nice. Joe and Marla are very warm hosts. We are already looking forward to our next stay.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Our business is what it is thanks to our loyal repeat customers who become friends we look forward to seeing!

Relaxing and Elegant

5 on September 03, 2014

My husband and I stayed with Marla and Joe for two nights while visiting family in Ann Arbor. They were most gracious sharing their home, highlights of Ypsilanti events, and a tavern tour. Breakfasts were outstanding. Snacks (especially the homemade cookies) and beverages available at all times were a nice touch.

Innkeeper Response
So glad you enjoyed the cookies and your time in Ypsilanti. I'll make different ones next time you come!

A "must see" if you're ever in the area

5 on September 02, 2014

We traveled to Ann Arbor to move our son into school. My husband found this while searching for a place to stay. New to the whole B&B thing, the place was incredible. Our room was exquiste and the home is beautiful. Our breakfast was delightful and plentiful. Our only regret is that we did not get to spend as much time there as we would have wanted. Next time!!

Innkeeper Response
This is a perfect place to stay for parents of college students at U of M and EMU. I'm glad you found us and that you discovered the benefits of staying at a B & B. You can't get breakfasts like mine at a standard hotel!

A Time-Treasured Experience – Cherished Memories

5 on August 27, 2014

A few months back, my husband suggested I go to a B&B for some personal R&R that he felt should encompass a retreat-like setting and would be nearby to visit my daughter who attends UM. He was spot on. I feel the experience begins and ends with Marla and Joe. They have raised the bar as innkeepers/hosts--a wonderful couple who are gracious, well-read and more. They each have perfected their individual niches which harmoniously intertwine to ensure their guests experience a comfortable, enjoyable and enriched stay. It will leave you rejuvenated and with memories that will linger long after your departure. My daughter and I spent a relaxing and enjoyable first night in the cozily furnished Newton Suite. We spent the evening browsing the library that included Marla’s own collection of time-honored classics, made a selection from a wide array of movies and indulged in Marla’s homemade cookies with a cup of tea. The following morning we joined the other guests and sat at a beautifully set table in the formal dining room and savored a fabulous homemade breakfast exquisitely prepared by Marla. Afterwards and quite to our surprise, Joe took us on a tour telling us an amazing story of a 1700’s tavern located in the B&B's basement. Our time together in this beautiful home away from home will be a memory my daughter and I will share for years to come. One last and all-inclusive note – the previous reviews are exactly everything I have witnessed and experienced firsthand during my 3 night, 3 breakfast stay. What is left to say? When you can, seize this opportunity for yourself to be swept away in this magnificent home created by Marla’s and Joe’s warm and nurturing hospitality. Be prepared to be pampered!

Innkeeper Response
This has to be the best review we have ever gotten. Thank you so much for all your praise and kind words! We certainly hope to see you again. Next time bring your husband too.

Can't Ask for More

5 on August 25, 2014

We stayed only one night, but Innkeepers Marla and Joe made it very special. Marla walked us around the beautifully decorated main floor and our second floor room. She showed us the hot tub in a secluded part of the garden and how to use it, which we did, under the stars with a glass of wine. After, we enjoyed the walk-in shower with a rain shower head and slept soundly in a comfortable queen bed. Breakfast the next morning in the large airy dining room was delicious--fruit, Greek yogurt, granola, an asparagus souffle with a side of potatoes and bacon, juice, coffee. Yum. Joe invited us to tour the basement tavern and, because other guests had left, to see all the other equally well-appointed rooms. Clearly Marla and Joe have given every aspect of their inn a lot of thought, research, and detail. They are very warm and gracious people. We would gladly stay again at the Queen's Residence.

Innkeeper Response
What a nice review, thanks! Hopefully others will be inspired to have a romantic session in our private outdoor hot tub. Please come visit us again.

Gracious and Elegant Getaway

5 on August 17, 2014

When I arrived for my two-night stay, Marla met me at the gate to welcome and offer help with my bags. I paused to admire the gardens, the fountains, the art on the wall. The sense of making an excellent choice carried through the introduction to the common areas, the Keurig coffeemaker, the nonglass glasses for the hot tub. The Gibson Suite was excellent for the cool nights of August. The accommodations are as scrumptious as the breakfasts. The attention to detail is delightful, from the fan-folded bathroom tissue on the pedestal in the room, to the crystal decanter of sherry for guests in the gentleman's parlor and fresh flowers on the dining table. There are table and chair groupings for lounging on three sides of the house to relax quietly or share conversation. Marla and Joe Queen love what they do and that care is evident in each encounter. It's a short walk through the lovely neighborhood to Michigan Ave. and the shops and restaurants. I want to experience the Queen's Residence in each season and I'll happily plan my next stay this autumn..

Innkeeper Response
This review makes me want to come and stay at The Queen's Residence, so I imagine that others reading your review will feel the same. You also are obviously a detail oriented person to point out so many of the things about the inn that others might miss which I very much appreciate. We look forward to your next visit!

Wonderful place to stay

4.6 on July 29, 2014

We were pleasantly surprised by our stay. The Queen's went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and had a good experience. The b and b was full of charm...lots to see, including the old tavern in the basement-a must see! The food was outstanding and since I had some dietary needs, they met them beyond my expectation. Will recommend to my friends!

Innkeeper Response
I am pleased that you were happy with our service. I try my best to accommodate dietary restrictions.

Loved our stay!

5 on July 06, 2014

We stayed at the Queen's Residence B&B a couple weeks ago when we were visiting the area for a wedding. We were so happy that we decided to stay here! The house is absolutely beautiful, and Joe and Marla were so friendly and fun to chat with! The location is also great, as you are just a few blocks from historic Ypsilanti. We stayed in the Barnard Room, which is charming and spacious, with an adorable little dressing room complete with a darling vanity and ample closet space. The collection of antiques in the house is lovely, and we especially enjoyed all of the beautiful little sofas (including the one in our room!) The bathroom in our room was remodeled and comfortable, with the softest towels I have ever felt! Breakfast was generous and delicious, and we enjoyed chatting with the other guests while we ate. Also, there is a secluded area with an outdoor hot tub, so don't forget your swim suit! My only issue was that the Barnard Room is over the main street, and so you can hear random cars drive by every so often. The room has a window a/c unit, which at first I thought was a little loud, but when I turned it back on I realized it covered up the street noise and I fell right asleep. In the morning I noticed that there is a white noise machine in the room, so I think that would help with the street noise if you were staying in the winter. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay, and would highly recommend it!

Innkeeper Response
I'm glad you liked our towels and enjoyed the décor of the inn. Just a note to potential future guests, the window a/c was a temporary measure while we were getting the HVAC system worked on. Please come stay with us again!

An Awesome Weekend Get-Away!

5 on June 22, 2014

My hubby and I wanted a weekend get away not too far from home and the Queens Residence seemed perfect. We are so happy that we found this spectacular gem. This B&B is quite charming and welcoming. Joe and Marla are gracious hosts that go above and beyond to make their guests comfortable. We stayed two nights and felt right at home, enjoyed a deliciously elegant homemade breakfast each morning and a cozy, beautifully decorated room. We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone visiting the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area.

Innkeeper Response
B & B's are great for "stay-cations". Next time you need a get-away close to home you'll know just where to come!

Loved it!

5 on March 15, 2014

My wife and I stayed last night and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Marla and Joe are warm and friendly. The rooms are super nice, clean and filled with wonderful antiques. Before we arrived, I asked Marla to order a beautiful bouquet of roses for our room. They were waiting for us when we arrived. She also suggested a wonderful restaurant for dinner. When we returned after dinner, we helped ourselves to fresh, homemade cookies and tea and chose a fun movie to watch from the collection in the upstairs library. Our bed was luxurious and comfortable. We awoke to a wonderful and leisurely breakfast. We're definitely coming back sometime. We are planning on sharing a weekend with some friends and enjoying an evening in the historic tavern below the home, where there is a huge fireplace. When we visited the tavern it felt like we walked into the Prancing Pony (J.R.R. Tolkien).

Innkeeper Response
What a fun image for the tavern. Comfort and cleanliness are on the top of the list for most folks, so thanks for mentioning both. I look forward to your return visit, with or without additional friends.

The best place to stay near Ann Arbor

4.8 on December 04, 2013

I travel 4 out of every 5 weeks. This is a wonderful place to look forward to after a long work day. It is the perfect balance of perfection and coziness. The innkeepers are both friendly and professional. I don't plan on ever staying anywhere else when I visit Ann Arbor.

Innkeeper Response
That is fantastic! I love hosting business travelers. I wish more of you would think about staying in B & B's.

Best B&B ever!

5 on November 06, 2013

If you think of a cozy, beautiful place, you got it. If you think, well, breakfast must be good in a B&B, you are going to experience being in heaven every morning! Marla and Joe are just one of best people I met in my whole life! Their generosity is beyond any expectations. When they say: "Prepare to be pampered!" They really mean it! I am very happy I have trusted all the good reviews in this website! Marla and Joe, you have a friend forever in Brazil! I miss you loads and love you more!!!

We were treated like royalty!

5 on October 28, 2013

Our stay was excellent. I felt like I was being treated like royalty! The chocolate by our beds, the hot tub (awesome with many different jets!), the homemade cookies, the delicious food, the ambiance of the newton room, the decor and history - all made for a treasured visit. Joe and Marla were very friendly and helpful. We hope to return! Don't forget to check out the Historic Tavern downstairs!

Felt RIght at Home!

5 on September 18, 2013

Thank you Marla and Joe. The Queen's Residence is a beautiful, interesting, historical home. Even though my husband and I are not ones to stay in Victorians, this B&B was comfortable, relaxed, and best of all the innkeepers made us feel totally welcomed and at home the moment we were greeted at the door. We enjoyed a glass of wine in the courtyard before having dinner at "Red Rock" a BBQ restaurant recommended by Marla. It did not disappoint. Our suite had a cozy sitting room and we enjoyed relaxing. The breakfast was scrumptious and plentiful. Hope to go back again. Would recommend to anyone!

Best of the B & B's

5 on September 17, 2013

We spent 3 nights at the Queen's Residence and enjoyed everything about it. Joe and Marla are excellent hosts that treat you like family. The renovated house, a project of Marla's, is fantastic to poke around in and discover fashion of the past. The only warning is that after one of Marla's gourmet breakfasts don't make any plans for lunch!

We came over the border to spend a day at the Detroit Institute of the Arts, and decided to spend a night somewhere in the area to turn it into a getaway. The house is lovely, and the room was, too. Breakfast was scrumptious. It was a pleasure. Thanks very much!

Exceeded All Expectations!

5 on July 24, 2013

My girlfriend and I live only 10's of minutes from Ypsilanti but we both needed a break from our respective lives and chose to spend a night at Queen's Residence in Ypsilanti. On their homepage, the owners claim that it would meet our expectations and I can say without reservation, it exceeded them greatly. We chose to stay in the Queen Room and when we arrived, were immediately met by Joe who checked us in and showed us to our room, and then spent an additional 20 minutes giving us a tour of the entire house. It is impressive to say the least and the pictures do not do it justice, each room is much more impressive than the pictures represented. Our room could not have been nicer and we did share a bottle of wine in the wing back chairs before heading off for dinner. We slept great and in the morning, were treated to a phenomenal breakfast prepared by Marla. Every element was carefully thought out and was memorable. Since we were the only guests that night, Joe and Marla were able to spend some time discussing the work they have done and the enjoyment the business gives them. They are phenomenal hosts. We plan future local vacations at the Queen's Residence as we want to experience some of the new rooms coming on line as they looked beautiful. I rarely give such positive reviews but it was perfect.

Warm hospitality, delicious food

5 on July 16, 2013

Not only do guests have a marvelous room of their own, they can enjoy the amenities on the first floor AND 3 outdoor spots to relax and listen to nature. Besides taking care of this large home, Marla and Joe take time to meet & greet every guest, point out all the amenities, and chat, if that's what guests want to do. Cookies and breakfast foods are all made by Marla and are delicious. Felt truly pampered by the attention to detail and warm hospitality.

Love this B&B

5 on July 01, 2013

I stayed at The Queen's Residence several times for week long business trips. It was perfect! Wonderful atmosphere, rooms, beds, sheets that are wonderful and breakfast was fabulous. Marla is a perfect hostess! Loved it and highly recommend it!!

Beautiful Wedding Venue

5 on March 20, 2013

My Husband and I were just married at the Queen's B&B on 3.16.2013 and it was perfect. We were married inside by the fireplace and it was a very sweet romantic setting. Marla and Joe took very good care of us. Made sure every detail of our wedding was attended too. We were able to view the inn at various time to get decoration ideas but we only needed a few. Most of the items blended into our theme and they have many options to choose from. Marla even polished all the silver to make sure it shined perfectly for the wedding ceremony. While we were getting ready for our day were were given fresh baked cookies and beverages. Such a small sweet detail but made all the difference when you have a really busy day and don't get a chance to eat really. Those cookies hit the spot! We were able to use every inch of the inn and no request was ever denied. The Ladies used the upstairs while the Men took over the Tavern. Each lending there own charm to the event. After the ceremony we left for our huge reception and the rooms were kinda left scattered with personal items in the rush of getting prepared. After a very long day I was dreading to come back to clean off the bed to crawl into it. When I walked into the room I was amazed it was all cleaned up. Everything neatly sorted and stacked. Bed was turned down with chocolates bedside. Again just another perk of a well thought service from Joe and Marla. Again we couldn't have been happier with how everything went on our special day. We will surely stay again and recommend this venue to anyone wanting a romantic wedding...or just a comfy stay overall. See you soon! Jeanette & Clay

A Wonderful Royal Experience

5 on March 05, 2013

We had a delightful getaway! The house is very comfortable. The bedrooms are charming. The hosts are warm and friendly. All the details are in place. We frequently stay at bed and breakfasts. This one is a gem.

Great Place to Gather

5 on March 04, 2013

My husband and I met up with two other couples we've been friends with for years. We had have a wonderful time catching up with each other at the inn. There is comfortable furniture to relax and visit. We felt right at home. Breakfast was delicious and the innkeepers were so nice. We'll have to go back!

Attention to Detail

5 on February 19, 2013

We really enjoyed the attention to detain, cleanliness and frindly hosts. Will definately return, especially to have dinner in the tavern that is in the house.

A Great Escape

5 on February 17, 2013

Marla and Joe provide a warm welcome, clean and well-appointed cozy rooms, well-stocked library of books and movies, homemade cookies, and a delicious multiple-course gourmet breakfast. This is a very well-tended immaculate historic home. Topping it all off is a more than century old tavern which has been preserved by the hosts who value it as a step back into history for those who enter. (The tavern is non-functional, but a wonderful peek into the 19th century.). We heartily recommend this B&B.

Wonderful stay

4.4 on February 04, 2013

What a wonderful stay at this B&B. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. Hosts were charming and the house was very clean and cozy.

What a Wonderful B&B!

5 on October 28, 2012

In all my years of staying at B&B's, the Queens Residence is the best! The building and period furnishings are terrific. The library, the living rooms and dining rooms are fantastic. Joe and Marla have done an excellent job in making the whole house comfortable. The breakfasts are outstanding! I did not take advantage of the hot tub, but it certainly looked wonderful. My room(s) were great. Thank you. (the Cuban exile)

Always a great time

5 on October 24, 2012

We love Queen's Residence and it's always an amazing time. Highly recommend it, but you have to experience it for yourself. Absolutley amazing.

An intimate place to relax and enjoy.

5 on October 08, 2012

My wife and I were in the Ann Arbor area for business and found this lovely Inn for an overnight stay. The room was very well appointed and the service was exceptional. The breakfast was more than we expected and the coversation around the table gave a great start to our day. We would highly recommend The Queen's Residence.

Outstanding B & B!

5 on October 07, 2012

Joe and Marla Queen certainly know how to treat people like royalty and yet make them feel like family. Beware, a stay here could become habit forming!

More than home away from home

5 on September 10, 2012

We are sincerely thankful to Joe & Marla for opening up their home and their hearts to us throughout our 11 day stay at this truly outstanding B&B. Although on a first visit to the USA, we felt to close to being at home and very privileged of the whole experience. Joe & Marla provided service far beyond expectation and their support and friendship will always be valued by my daughter and myself. We hope to see you both again one day soon.

Our best B&B experience yet

5 on September 06, 2012

From the instant we arrived, Joe and Marla made our stay a memorable one. Their splendid house is decorated with unerring taste — not cutesy-wootsie, not crammed with bric-a-brac, not hodgepodge, but just right. We were only overnighters, but our hosts welcomed us as if we were staying for a month. Our room, the Barnard, was spacious, airy, and nicely appointed (the mattress was extremely comfortable, too); the bathroom, and all the fixtures within, was faultless. Breakfast was scrumptious, and there was plenty of it. All in all, we regretted our schedule didn't permit a longer stay; but we'll be back.

Our Go-To Place in Ypsi

5 on August 21, 2012

We just had our fourth visit to the Queen's Residence. I can't say enough about it. Joe and Marla are the perfect innkeepers. The rooms are comfortable and clean, the food is out of this world! It gives us the feeling of visiting family and that is great. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property. See you again soon!

A Must Stay!!!

5 on August 06, 2012

I can't say enough about our stay, the house is beautiful, breakfast is OUTSTANDING, and Joe and Marla were terrific. Don't even hesitate about staying here, it is so wonderful.

As always my stay was beyond excellent...

5 on August 06, 2012

Whether I'm passing thru Michigan on my way to Canada or visiting friends in the area I always stay at The Queen's Residence! It's beautiful, it's "my standards" clean, the service is outstanding, the breakfasts are always to die for, and Joe and Marla are two of the nicest people you ever want to meet. I won't stay anywhere else. HIGHLY recommend to everyone!

Trustfull hotel manager

5 on July 29, 2012

I came to this hotel from Japan in July, 2012. It was a fantastic experience to stay in the historical building with the quite nice interior. Trustfulness of the hotel manager is noteworthy. I left my credit card and some staffs behind the hotel but the manager kindly sent those staffs upon my request! Thank you so much!

The BEST graduation weekend, EVER!

5 on June 23, 2012

We made our reservation with Joe and Marla nearly 7 months in advance for my husband's graduation from U of M Law School. The weekend couldn't have been better in large part due to Marla and Joe. We filled all the rooms, had oodles of family and friends over, even had a party in their lovely outdoor space and it felt like home, well better than home because we didn't have to do dishes! Absolutely everything about this B and B is great. The food gets 5 stars in ALL CAPS. Also, we had our 1.5 year old with us and felt so welcomed, which made all the difference for us. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Perfect B&B Experience

4.6 on June 22, 2012

My wife and I have spent two weekends here: June of 2012 and February of 2010. Ypsi is a great halfway point between Detroit and Ann Arbor, and I can't imagine a better place to stay in Ypsi. I highly recommend the hot tub and the hammock. :)

5 on June 18, 2012

I travel close to 50% of the time and have never stayed at a B&B for a business trip. It was a perfect option - everything was wonderful. I will be returning again and again. Thanks so much for a lovely (business related) stay. I felt totally spoiled and cared for.

Night before the wedding

5 on June 09, 2012

We spent the night before our wedding here and used the Queen's room to get ready for the wedding. Beautiful decor with wonderful details. Marla and Joe are the sweetest people. Marla took great care of us and made a fabulous, romantic breakfast for the two of us the morning of the wedding. We highly recommend the Queen's residence and are looking forward to coming back!

5 on June 05, 2012

Ray and Delinda Guisgand give this elegant Bed and Breakfast the highest of ratings. We enjoyed every minute of our viset.

The best place to stay in Ypsilanti!

5 on April 23, 2012

We just stayed for the second time at the Queen's Residence. We love this place! The hosts, Marla and Joe, are very gracious. My husband has a strict diet and it was not a problem at all, for which we were very thankful. The room is comfortable and clean, the breakfast is outstanding, and the common areas very cozy. We will be back again soon!

A wonderful place to stay with very accommodating hosts!

A great spot

5 on November 18, 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your B & B. The basement tavern is really neat. Thanks for showing it to us. The place was super convenient to the University convocation centre and restaurants.

what a delight

5 on October 28, 2011

Everything about the Queen's Residence is wonderful but especially the graciousness of the hosts, the delightful breakfasts and the quiet romance of the rooms. Close enough to Ann Arbor to see our son easily yet also be a bit away for our own little vacation break.

A gem only minutes away from bustling Ann Arbor

5 on October 12, 2011

The pictures don't do this inn justice. I wasn't expecting such class and elegance. Really, I was hoping for a quiet stay in a little town. But oh man, Ypsilanti is wonderful! We came for Ann Arbor, but we'll be back for Ypsilanti. The parks and restaurants are fantastic, with a very community vibe. The innkeepers know the area very well, and sent us to a great local pub. After a five hour drive it was exactly what we needed. The room was charming and the common areas fantastic! Our only regret is not getting a chance to use the hot tub. The hubby and I can't wait to return.

The Tavern is Exquisite!

5 on October 09, 2011

We had a lovely graduation party at the Tavern at the Queen's Residence. It is such a wonderful historic structure and lovely in candlelight. Marla and Joe were just wonderful to work with. We would highly recommend the Tavern and the B&B to anyone! It is an exquisite spot - so beautiful and so wonderfully decorated and Joe and Marla set you at ease.

Felt like Queeens at the Queen's Residence

5 on October 04, 2011

Absolutely beautiful bed and breakfast. Joe & Marla were delightful and shared so many details with us. Food was great and was the service. Although we didn't partake, it was so nice of them to have sherry, cookies, tea, etc for late night snacks. Just like home. Bernie V and Marie B

Beautiful and romantic!

5 on September 29, 2011

Joe and Marla were very welcoming! Their home is beautiful, romantic, and peaceful. By far, one of the best B&B's we've ever stayed at.

Loved this place!

5 on September 26, 2011

The Queen's Residence stands out among the rest because of the attention to detail innkeepers Joe & Marla give to everything in their home. The rooms are beautifully done with every imaginable amenity at your fingertips. The food was absolutely delicious...and again, the attention to the details speaks for itself. A beautiful home; a wonderful B&B; we would certainly stay again if we find ourselves in the area!

Great Inn

4.8 on September 12, 2011

My wife and I accidentally happened upon this amazing B&B. We had been looking for a room in the Ann Arbor area and everything was booked. Right before I called the Queen's Residence they had a cancellation. We had not heard anything about it before so we were a bit leery of what we would encounter. What a beautiful surprise. Not only were the accommodations first class, the food was also. Throw in to the mix the owners Marla and Joe and the experience becomes a great one. We highly recommend the Queen's Residence. The name fits because it is Royal treatment.

Charming and beautiful B&B

5 on September 08, 2011

This was our first stay in Ypsilanti, and we were delighted to find such a gem. The house is beautifully appointed and comfortable, and the atmosphere was welcoming and relaxing. Marla and Joe obviously love what they do and take pride in creating a wonderful experience for their guests, and it shows. The breakfasts were delicious, and we enjoyed meeting the other friendly guests. We'll be back!

Lovely place to stay!!!!

5 on August 26, 2011

What a lovely place to stay! We stayed in the Queen's room, so nice! We lacked for nothing. Beautifully decorated, clean, comfortable bed, excellent dining!!!!! Owners are very friendly, nice people with the gift of hospitality. The Swan's - Indianapolis, IN

Marla and Joe always make us feel right at home!

4.8 on August 17, 2011

Marla and Joe are so welcoming and always do a great job of telling us everything we need to know regarding our stay. I love how they keep little treats out in the home to share with guests. As for breakfast--it is always exceptional. Don't fill up on the yogurt, granola, fruit, juice and coffee--those are just the breakfast "starters" before the main course and it's well worth saving room for. I also love how they did a nice job of decorating each room with eclectic vintage flair. We will definitely be returning!

Wow!!! What a gem.

5 on August 16, 2011

Marla and Joe were exceptionally welcoming and hospitable and I only wish that we had more excuses to stay the night one town over from our own home! The historic decor is beautifully matched with the lovely building, the rooms are both comfortable and aesthetically pleasing, and breakfast was AMAZING. What a deal... I don't think I'll ever go back to hotels again!

5 on July 28, 2011

I just used Queen's B&B for international guests. They were "wowed" by the hospitality and I'm sure that little 'ol Ypsilanti will be one of the highlights of their trip! Marla and Joe were superb to work with and accomodated us on every request. It couldn't have been better! Thank you!

Fabulous Weekend

4.6 on July 17, 2011

We stayed at the Queen's Residence for our 16th anniversary. We were overwhelmed by the beauty of the house and Joe and Marla could not have taken better care of us. They anticipated our every need and the breakfasts were sensational. We loved sitting on the grand porch and had our own private dinner in one of the dining rooms. The house and the Queens are truly treasures. Thank you for a memorable stay and we hope to be back.

This place was amazing!

5 on June 20, 2011

This is a wonderful place to stay. The owners are friendly and helpful. The suite we stayed in was decorated very charmingly. The extratwin captain's bed in the sitting room was just as comfortable as the larger bed int bedroom. The house itself is gorgeous, with just enough antiques to not look like an antique store. The furniture is beautiful and comfy. The hottub was an nice extra. The courtyard and its garden was a great place to relax with a book. Breakfast was delicous. The authentic 18th century tavern located in the basement level was really interesting. The B&B is a short drive from the attractions in Ypsi and Ann Arbor.

Feel Like a Queen at the Queen's Residence

5 on June 04, 2011

We have stayed in many inns over the years. They are often picked due to the location. However, this inn could be the destination. When looking for a place to stay in Ann Arbor for grad weekend, we were faced with few choices and sought lodging in Ypsilanti. That was the beginning of our good fortune. First of all, it is really closer than we thought and easily accessible from AA. The best part though, was that the inn was fabulous. The attention to detail is remarkable and they are incredibly accommodating. The bed was super comfortable, the breakfast sublime, (candle lit!) and the inn owners very thoughtful. We look forward to returning.

5 on May 15, 2011

Joe and Marla Queen have created a magical jewel in Ypsilanti that exemplifies a beauty, hospitality and originality which we had never encountered anywhere in our travels! From the exquisite comfort of our bed to the intricate attention to every possible desire that we might have as their guests, accommodating our need for a place to find a tranquil rest through creating an impeccable Victorian retreat with incredible service, Marla and Jo have elevated their profession as hosts to an art form unmatched! Their meticulous attention to the most minuet details, whether a lovely antique hat placed in just the right spot or a breakfast which would be the pride of any trained chef, left us feeling pampered in a way that coddled our souls. Our only regret is that we did not plan a longer stay… but next time we will!

Bed and Gourmet Breakfast!

5 on May 11, 2011

My husband and I stayed at The Queen's Residence for four days and nights. What a great experience! First off, what a beautiful house! Second, Joe and Marla were incredibly friendly and welcoming. They made us feel so at home! Lastly, and most impressively, the food was amazing! Marla truly outdoes herself in the kitchen. Every morning we had fresh and assorted fruitbowls along with delicious granola and yogurt to start and then Marla would come out with an amazing gourmet main dish and some type of wonderful muffin. I came home with a few new recipes. I am definitely missing these wonderful breakfasts now that I am back at home. I know where I will be staying next time we're in Michigan!

A fantastic romantic getaway spot

4.6 on April 25, 2011

My wife and I came here to celebrate my birthday. The home is beautiful and the Queen room very spacious and full of charm. We had a very romantic stay. The bed had a temperpedic matress and was very comfortable. The library had great books and movies. The wifi connection was fast. It was like home! The breakfast was fantastic. Marla is a great cook! Joe and Marla set the bar very high for other bed and breakfasts!

Warm welcome on a Chilly Evening

5 on March 26, 2011

Every detail is thoughtfully and artistically arranged and helped us to feel that we were taken care of. This is hospitality for the love of being hospitable, plus the meticulous attention to detail that one might expect from an art museum curator. We were in awe as much as we were relaxed and comfortable.

Great place to get away - convienent to Ann Arbor and Detroit. Highly recommended.

As always...

5 on September 28, 2010

The Queen's Residence is, as always, a wonderful B&B and a lovely place to stay. This was my third visit to the Queen's Residence in Ypsilanti over the years and I'm never disappointed - always delighted. It just gets better and better over time and Joe and Marla make it an experience one never forgets with their hands on hospitality. And the home? BEAUTIFUL!

All the little extras made a perfect stay...

5 on March 25, 2010

Our expectations were completely exceeded. The temper-pedic mattress was fabulous, the breakfast was exquisite (they even put a birthday candle in my boyfriend's French toast). The hot tub and fresh baked cookies were the icing on the cake. Best place I've stayed, period.

As first timers at a bed and breakfast, and a little hesitant I must admit, we were more than pleased with our experience at The Queen's Residence. Joe and Marla showed a winning combination of helpfulness and friendliness on one hand, and respect for our privacy on the other. After I booked online (a very easy process), I promptly received an email confirming our reservation and promising that we would be pampered. The beautiful old house is charming, with every room furnished with antiques and decorated with artwork and interesting items. In the guest rooms, every detail is covered, from the tempurpedic mattress to the satellite radio to the private bath, and I could go on and on. The breakfasts were amazing ... we didn't need to eat lunch either day! The walled courtyard was a nice private area to get away, with lounge chairs and a very cool hammock. The huge front porch was the perfect morning spot to drink coffee and watch people. And the private hot tub was the only way to end our day, after dark of course. The Queen's Residence certainly lived up to its promise of "be prepared to be pampered". We are ready to go back.

Gracious and intelligent hosts

This bed and breakfast recaptures the best of customer service in the hotel industry. The house is beautiful and all details are carefully thought out. The owners think of everything to make your stay memorable, fresh baked cookies, sumptuous breakfast served in a beautiful dining room, books to read, movies to watch, hot tub to relax and much more.

I Was Treated Like A Queen!

Joe and Marla Queen are well on their way to perfecting hospitality! Every aspect of our stay was a joy from the wonderful breakfasts to the Victorian charm of the entire inn. Our innkeepers are charming, engaging and gracious. We felt so very welcome! We anticipate a return visit in the near future! Thanks Marla and Joe! Fondly, Kitti and Pat

enjoyed our stay-easy to us w/ outdoor setting, parlors hot tubs, the best smelling towels ever. the little touches were wonderful. just wished there was more sun lighting through windows and overhead lamps, as well as power outlets(for hair dryer, etc)this place had 28 internet reviews vs the other b&b in the area with only 7. we will be adding to make 29+ reviews.hard to beleive only 14 month!!

What a weekend!

Marla & Joe Queen have set the bar incredibly high for other inns and B&Bs. The entire residence is beautiful and incredibly clean. The breakfasts are sumptuous, almost decandent. Thank you! We had a party for our daughter's graduation from Eastern Michigan University in the "Wild Turkey Tavern" and it was a fantastic success. My wife & I will create reasons to go back to the Ypsilanti/Ann Arbor area just so we can stay there again. WE LOVED IT!!

Lovely host and hostess

Joe and Marla are very welcoming. The home is beautiful and grand. Breakfast was delicious--and we enjoyed the relaxed morning. I appreciated that we were able to stay for just a night.

Amazing Experience

5 on April 28, 2008

I highly recommend the Queen's Residence B&B. Their victorian home is filled with history and ambience. The Queen's are probably the NICEST couple we've ever met! Their attention to detail really showed how much they care! From the chocolate covered strawberries to the flip-flops for the hot tubs to the amazing breakfast quiche, it was amazing! We can't wait to return!

Spring Getaway

5 on April 28, 2008

Following the dissapointment of having our Florida vacation cancelled, we took a short getaway to the Queen's Residence. Though the temperatures fell far short of the 50s the warmth we experienced staying with the Queens was comforting, relaxing and hospitable. We highly recommend this B&B for it's many charms and wish its Innkeepers much success.

Fantastic Site for an Event

5 on April 21, 2008

We hosted a baby shower at the Inn, and then we stayed overnite to relax and enjoy the Inn. What a wonderful place to host an event. The Innkeepers were very accommodating, and provided a wonderful experience for all. I would highly recommend the Queen's Inn.

A Treat Behind Every Door

5 on April 13, 2008

We enjoyed our stay immensely. The Queens were most gracious, sitting and chatting with us in front of the glowing fireplace as if we were long-time friends. Because we were the only guests, we were surprised to be given the offer of choosing any room, even one more expensive, at no additional cost. I marveled at the fact that no matter how many times I toured any of the beautiful rooms, I still found something new to admire and enjoy. Guests have many choices of where to relax--alone or with others--in two sitting rooms, a library, a hot tub, the veranda... I'm already brainstorming on creating an event so we can make use of the charming historic tavern on the lower level of this magnificent residence.

Romantic getaway!

My fiance & I shared an amazingly beautiful and romantic time at the Queen's Residence. Joe & Marla's warm hospitality, excellent food and inviting home made the weekend so enjoyable. The hot tub & chocolate covered strawberries were a nice touch to the evening.

A great birthday present!

5 on March 09, 2008

My wife took me to the Queen's Residence as a surprise for my birthday. Neither one of us had ever stayed at a B&B before. Any B&B that we visit in the future will have big shoes to fill!! The Victorian atmosphere of the residence was very inviting and relaxing. Great attention to the smallest detail: everything you need to enjoy the outside hot-tub, fresh flowers in the room, complimentary soft drinks and snacks, coffee brought to the library for you in the morning and you won't find a better breakfast at twice the price! The authentic 1700's era tavern in the basement is itself worth the trip! Marla and Joe are great hosts!!

Absolutely Amazing!

4.8 on March 05, 2008

We decided to come at the very last minute (10 p.m. the night before) but the service was impeccable. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, with tons of variety, muffins, quiche, breakfast meat, granola, fresh fruit, etc. The house itself was amazing, and it has a real 1700s tavern in the basement, brought from Connecticut plank by plank. The room was outstanding, with its own sitting room and bathroom, (other rooms had fireplaces 2 person showers and other neat additions) and the bedding was amazing -- super comfortable. Every time I went into a room I was surprised by another detail in decoration I had missed the first time. I can't say enough good things about this B&B -- you won't be disappointed.

Two day quick trip

4.4 on February 22, 2008

Quick getaway for my wife and I while I was in the area for business. Joe and Marla went above and beyond to make us feel like the house was ours. they have everything a person could want to just relax and enjoy!!!

Royal Treatment

5 on February 16, 2008

My husband surprised me with a Valentine's stay at The Queen's Residence in Ypsilanti, MI. It was one of the most royal times of my life. The rooms were romantic and full of atmosphere and antiques. The breakfasts were decadent. The hot tub under the stars felt good after antique shopping in nearby historic Depot Town. The historic 17th century pub, given as a gift by Henry Ford to a former owner, is situated under the main house. It is truly a sight to be seen. Joe and Marla Queen are wonderful hosts and attend to your every need. This was a regal experience!

Great time, don't miss this place!

My husband and I had a great time at Queen’s Residence. The rooms were spectacular and our hosts were so nice and accommodating. We enjoyed sitting outside in the hot tub as snowflakes fell down around us. The price is a great value especially with all the extra touches the Queen’s have added to the experience. The home is not only beautiful but has a museum quality to it, with lots of interesting antiques with stories to go with them. The breakfast was outstanding!!! We were served croissant French toast stuffed with fruit along with many delicious side dishes. It was the best breakfast we’ve had in a long, long time. We are looking forward to spending another night there soon.

A great weekend getaway

A friendly, elegant B&B

Spending a night at this lovely historic piece of art was a smart and well-rewarded choice. Marla's love of antiques and her gift of interior decoratign is evident upon arrival at Queen's Residence. Joe revealed his culinary experise with the lovely breakfast enhanced by his friendliness and lots of sharing of information about Ypsilanti.

Charming, beautifully decorated residence

Marla and Joe are extremely respectable and friendly and made us feel at home. Definitely will return, hopefully with family and friends! An exceptional B&B with lovely amenities.

Excellent. There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe our stay here. Comfortable beds, warm and welcoming hospitality, and first-rate accomodations. My only regret is that I never tried out the hot tub! I will recommend this establishment to everyone traveling through the area!

Everything we expected.

5 on December 18, 2007

The house is beautiful! The rooms had more amenities then expected! The satelite radio and two-person shower were the icing on the cake! I would highly recommend Marla's cooking to anyone. Best wishes from Karrie.

This inn is very elegant and impressive without seeming stuffy. The room, food, and common space was of very high quality and comfortable. We felt at home and enjoyed a truly stress-free evening. We particularly enjoyed the upstairs library with our morning coffee and the private hot-tubs. Definetly a good value!

My experience staying at the Queen's Residence was superb! The house is stately yet comfortable. The Victorian decor is charming and warm. The innkeepers, Marla and Joe, are both friendly, generous, accomodating, and interesting. (We had many stimulating conversations.) The room that I occupied was spacious and comfortable. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and will recomment TQR to all my friends.

The Queen's Residence provides a beautiful, comfortable and relaxing atmosphere for its guests with some very special touches. The breakfast is absolutely delicious and the innkeepers are careful to inquire about dietary limitations. The rooms look like they could be lifted from the pages of an antiques decorating magazine. They also provide comfort, space, and privacy. Ut was a very pleasant experience.

Mesmerized is what you will be...

Nestled on the very edge of a busy section of a major college town is a piece of a dream... a dream that you wish never ends. Whatever is out there in the world, you leave out there once you step inside The Queen's Residence. Joe and Marla open their home to you as if you were family, and their effervescent zeal for living and the celebration of life seaps into your very being, inspiring, and at the same time, relaxing you, so that you are at complete ease in their little wonderland. Sleep has never been so peaceful, be it in the majestic old beds with unspeakably luxurious sheets, or in the cool night breeze underneath the stars in the hammock, with fountains flowing all around and the nighttime serenade of sweet silence... enough to stir you, your thoughts, and the passion of your true love who you will hold on to so tightly once the magic of this place catches hold of you, arresting and with conviction, like a vice grip. Great care goes into ensuring that you are catered to, and cared for, with really nothing to worry about. Go out and about... there is much to see in that area... or stay in... you will not be disappointed. There is a free dance lesson given to guests of The Queen's Residence, a pleasant surprise, and something that will make you and your partner connect in an entirely different way. My wife and I absolutely enjoyed our stay there, and did not want to leave at all. It is time well spent, and you owe it to yourself to stay there!!
