Our Stay at Wind in the Pines

4.6 on September 05, 2018

This Bed and Breakfast is a wonderful place to stay. The layout of the building and the rooms is very well done. The breakfast is easily in the top 10% of all breakfasts we've ever had. The hosts are charming and very helpful, not to mention excellent cooks! We look forward to coming back and staying again.

Another great stay

5 on September 03, 2018

Third time staying at the Wind in the Pins and won't be our last. Great location, very nice rooms, and great hosts. The sit-down breakfast is really nice and a great time to meet the other people staying there at the same. This year we even stayed at the same time as another couple that was there 2 years ago with us. What are the odds! Highly recommend Wind in the Pines!

Wine Tour / Girl's Weekend

Wind in the Pines B&B is a wonderful property and exceptionally clean. It is more beautiful then in the pictures. The bed was fabulous and I slept like a baby. Marion and Dittmar are wonderful hosts. I have been recommending Wind in the Pines to family and Friends since my great weekend there. I'm already looking into dates to return.

Best Bed and Breakfast

This was my first visit to Traverse City with my co-workers. We work in one of the largest healthcare systems in Michigan. Customer service is very important in our line of business. Pines in the Woods B & B was an awesome experience with EXCELLENT customer service. It was very clean and quiet with wonderful owners. The breakfast was great along with the hospitality from Deitmer and Marion. I recommend this B & B to everyone.

3rd. Stay and will go back next year.

Bravo for the Bear Room & Its Keepers

5 on August 22, 2018

The attention to detail was impeccable! We enjoyed every minute of our stay. Room was 'all things' Bear. Food was delicious and very unique (Grapefruit Baked Alaska-Yummy!--just to mention one of the nice surprises. Location was perfect to explore the surrounding areas. Hospitality at its best. Looking forward to returning next year and again and again. Tony & Anita D.

Excellent Breakfast!!!

4.4 on August 21, 2018

We stayed the weekend so were able to enjoy two wonderful breakfasts. My husband and I always try to stay in B&Bs when we travel. The breakfasts here rank in the top 5 places we have stayed. If you leave hungry it’s your own fault and the food is made with fresh fruits and vegetables. The rooms are good size and absolutely spotless. I would recommend The Wind in the Pines to anyone staying in the Traverse City area

Amazing stay!

5 on August 17, 2018

We had a wonderful time recently at Wind I the Pines. The place could not have been cleaner! It was immaculate. It was in a great location, close to everything but far enough away to get away from the hustle and bustle. Dietmar and Marion were wonderful hosts and provided amazing breakfast. Seriously, the breakfast was the best food we ate all week. I would highly recommend Wind in the Pines! Jennifer and Brian.

Wind in the Pines B&B, Traverse City, MI

3.8 on August 15, 2018

I highly recommend The Wind In The Pines B&B for a relaxed, quiet stay. The rooms are VERY clean and VERY comfortable! The hosts; Dietmar and Marian, are so inviting and friendly. The offer to help with your stay, tourist attractions, directions etc. The breakfast served at 9 a.m. is outstanding. I have stayed here in the months of August and October and have never been disappointed. I will definitely be booking with them every time I visit the area.

Very Enjoyable Stay

4.6 on July 27, 2018

We had an excellent stay last week! Marion and Dietmar are the perfect hosts and their hard work truly pays off! Dietmar gave us wonderful recommendations for a nearby winery and a gorgeous hike; Marion made scrumpious breakfasts! The Inn itself is very well maintained, exceptionally clean and in a very convenient location (we had a car.) We enjoyed our time getting to know the other guests, although if we wanted more privacy, we could have easily had it. Wonderful stay overall!!

A great stay

5 on July 22, 2018

My sister and I spent the weekend in Traverse City and the Wind in the Pines was a special part of a great weekend getaway.

A great stay

4.6 on July 11, 2018

I was not sure what to expect since I found this B&B online. It turned out to be a very lovely place and the owners were so friendly. Our stay there was wonderful.

5 on July 09, 2018

Nothing but praise for the Wind in the Pines and it’s wonderful hosts! The rooms were very clean and comfortable. The location was perfect for those who want to be in close vicinity, but not right in, the city. The breakfasts were all delicious and huge - come hungry!! We can’t wait to visit again!

Absolutely Wonderful

5 on July 04, 2018

The host and property were both outstanding and lovely in every way.

Lovely Wood Cabin, Hospitable and Lovely

4.8 on July 02, 2018

We stayed for a long weekend at the beginning of June. The house is a log cabin style, beautiful and in a lovely area. It feels like you are in the country but are actually only 5 miles from Traverse City. The rooms are themed, Pine cone, Bear and Moose. All wonderfully clean and came with a corkscrew and wine glasses in case you visit some of the local vineyards. Breakfast each morning was very tasty and varied each day. The B&B is within walking distance of one winery. Everything else is in easy reach of a fairly short drive. The hosts were friendly and helpful. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend.

Wind In the Pines Bed and Breakfast

5 on July 02, 2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The hosts were so kind and helpful! The breakfast was delicious and the accommodations were lovely. The location was perfect for what we planned to do. Best of all, it was within walking distance from one of our favorite wineries, Rove Estates. We most definitely plan on returning there again for another visit!

Tell all your friends

5 on March 06, 2018

My husband and I LOVED our stay here, the house is clean, the area is so peaceful, and it's only a 10min drive to downtown Traverse City, just perfect. On top of that, our absolute favorite part was the food! The meals were amazing, well presented, unique, and filling. We both love to cook and bake and we were excited to see such lovely and delicious foods. Also, the hosts are both so kind and very accommodating. We came home telling all our friends to go and we look forward to returning ourselves.

Wonderful Quiet B&B

4.8 on February 21, 2018

We stayed for a weekend at Wind in the Pines. It was a beautiful location even in the winter with snow on the ground. Dietmar and Marion were exceptional hosts and breakfast was amazing!! They even made us something to take with us on the morning that we needed to leave early before breakfast.

Great Bed and Breakfast

4.6 on December 25, 2017

We stayed in December, would love to come back in the Summer to see the green grass and flowers in bloom. Exceptional Breakfast and very well maintained place.

Beautiful location and breakfast !

5 on November 12, 2017

Lovely location in a pine grove...very close to downtown TC. Host and hostess are so kind and polite. Breakfast is so special. 5 star recommendation!

Wonderfully delicious!

Close enough to town but wonderfully hidden in the trees. Delightful rooms and a delicious breakfast served hot on beautiful dishes. An overall restful & special stay!

A cabin paradise

5 on November 05, 2017

This is our second year staying at Wind in the Pines and again, it was the best experience. Miriam and Dietmar are an amazing couple, ever the gracious hosts. Miriam cooks the best breakfast and Dietmar is such a lovely man - he knows the area inside out and even told us where to go as we were headed for U.P. If not for him, we wouldn't have heard of tunnel of trees, and that was the best route to experience fall weather. Stay at Wind in the Pines if you're looking for a beautiful retreat, home cooked breakfasts and breathtaking nature.

Always amazing and so comfortable!

5 on November 05, 2017

This is the best, cozy, b & b! The food is amazing and the inn keepers really pay attention to every detail! We will be back!!

Wind in the pines is amazing!!

5 on October 25, 2017

The couple who runs the bed and breakfast pays such attention to detail , everything is well kept and private, the food is absolutely amazing! This was our 2nd stay and we will definitely be back!!

Lovely stay, great hosts, and perfect location!

5 on October 09, 2017

Miriam and Dietmar were wonderful hosts. They prepared a delicious breakfast each morning, especially mindful of guest’s food allergies and dietary restrictions. They have a lovely home and the guests rooms are extremely comfortable and roomy. The bed was dreamy and we slept very soundly. The lower rooms, Bear and Moose, have a lower entrance with a keypad which makes coming and going very easy for a vacation. The house has a secluded porch and small gazebo for relaxing. This B&B is perfectly located for exploring the entire Traverse area from downtown to Old Mission Peninsula to Glen Arbor and to Leelanau Peninsula!

Best place in Northern Michigan!

4.6 on October 08, 2017

One of Northern Michigan's best kept secrets! Quiet, romantic rooms & outstanding breakfast! Close enough to town to have dinner & make it back to the room without a long drive. Would love to go back!

The perfect spot for a weekend getaway!

5 on October 05, 2017

Wind in the Pines is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway! The food was absolutely amazing! The rooms were clean and very cute! We can’t wait to go back!

Absolutely lovely!!

5 on October 02, 2017

Husband and I went here for our 2 yr wedding anniversary. It was nicely secluded but within walking distance from a winery and about a 10min drive to Traversw city. The rooms were very clean, the queen bed comfy (they have kings and twins too), and the large 3 course breakfasts were made fresh and were so delicious!! The hostesses were super sweet, gave us tips on some cool things to do around town, and even let us barrow their beach chairs to see the sunset at Empire. Since we were out in the country the Netflix reception was pretty bad freezing too much and basic cable was pretty bare bones but we didn't mind since it made us have more adventures that were way more fun then coming back earlier! :) We definitely look forward to coming back! I searched high and low since our trip was only planned about a month or 2 out so our options were limited but from shopping around and seeing old Victorian B&B rooms with tiny beds charging more then what we paid for modern comfort (super cute cottage themes rooms) we were so exited to find Wind In The Pines.

Top notch!

5 on September 13, 2017

Very pleased with our experience. Dietmar & Marion really know how to operate this beautiful home. Breakfast was unbelievable every morning, the rooms are as clean as you would want them, comfortable beds. We will ever back to visit for sure.

Golf and Wedding

5 on August 23, 2017

Dietmar and Marion are the best B&B owners that I have met - we traveled to Traverse City for my niece's wedding and a little golf - and we could not have asked for a nicer venue - the rooms were 'roomy' and the food (while we only ate breakfast one day due to golf tee times) were amazing. The ability to use the common room and allow my mother-in-law to 'hang out' was a bonus. Highly recommend this B&B and will definitely stay there again!!! Thank you Dietmar and Marion (and Spotty)

Wonderful experience, AGAIN!

5 on August 18, 2017

Yet again, our stay (sixth so far) was a wonderful, restful, and memorable one. Our hosts went way out of their way to make certain that our stay was comfortable and happy. Breakfasts were delicious and unique. We enjoy Wind in the Pines and it is our go-to place in the Traverse City area.

Perfect getaway!

5 on August 17, 2017

This is our favorite place to get away to! It exceeds are expectations every time and we can't wait for our next trip back!

Another great stay.

4.6 on August 13, 2017

Very nice owners, nice room and great location.

Wonderful bed and breakfast experience

5 on August 13, 2017

from the time we were met at the front door by Marion to the last farewell my wife and I were totally impressed. The room was spotless. The breakfasts were amazing and the hospitality was so gracious..We love the Traverse Bay Area and would not hesitate to stay here again.

What a gem!

5 on August 11, 2017

Wonderful hosts, great location and amazing breakfast each day.

Beautiful Respite near Many Michigan Sites

5 on August 09, 2017

Just minutes from Traverse City my husband and I stayed at peaceful Wind in the Pines. Large comfortable, clean accommodations literally in a pine forest. Easy access and parking. Friendly hosts and excellent breakfast. All this while still being located near Traverse City resturants and shops, the fabulous Music House museum, lighthouses, public parks and beaches and only a half hour from Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park. Fantastic place to use as a base for day trips in the area. Top Notch!

Another Great Stay

5 on August 03, 2017

Another great stay at Wind in the Pines. The breakfast that Marion serves are always excellent. Dietmar and Marion are very nice hosts and the rooms are always very clean as is the entire house. The location for us is very convenient for Traverse City and the Suttons Bay, Glen Arbor area. We will be back again next year!!!

10/10 Highly Recommend!

5 on July 27, 2017

It was our first time staying at a bed & breakfast and everything was absolutely perfect! The property and house was beautiful and our room was amazing. They were so accommodating and gave us multiple maps and brochures with what we should do during our stay. The food was delicious; probably the best meals we had on the entire trip. Perfect vacation, really great!

Tranquil Retreat

4.2 on July 26, 2017

The Wind in the Pines B&B provided everything I expected and more. Beautifully decorated, comfortable rooms, a common area with plenty of books and games to borrow, and a peaceful, woodsy setting all contributed to a very enjoyable stay. Just a few minutes' drive from the downtown Traverse City area, this B&B was a great way to be close enough to downtown without dealing with crowds and noise while at the inn. We'll definitely consider staying here again if we're back in the area.

cozy and refreshing

5 on July 20, 2017

Beautiful and secluded, yet close to Leelanau Peninsula and Traverse City if you want to be "busy". We very much enjoyed our hosts, their conversation, and the absolutely delicious fresh-cooked, full breakfasts! It was hard to leave and we can't wait to return just to stay at Wind in the Pines to relax!

Never disappoints

4.8 on July 18, 2017

We can't get enough of this place and the beautiful couple that owns & manages the b&b. A most relaxing and fun time we had durning our last stay.

Beautiful and Peaceful

5 on July 17, 2017

During my stay here I jokingly tried to come up with some minor complaint to include in an online review to balance the positive things I could say. I came up quite short. The room was beautiful and the common area was homey and relaxing. The setting was beautiful, peaceful, and made sitting outside on the patio a pleasure. Marion's breakfasts were excellent – delicious and filling. This place is wonderful and I don’t have even a tiny complaint to balance the review.

Secluded and peaceful

5 on July 16, 2017

We were created upon check in and shown the grounds. The Innkeepers are friendly yet give you the privacy that matches this gem in the woods. This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and we are looking forward to many more. The breakfasts were great and very filling. We enjoyed getting to talk with other guests over breakfast. Would definitely stay here again as great proximity to everything around Traverse City yet out of town enough to lave the craziness.

Second stay!

5 on July 13, 2017

Great food! Great location! We have a 3 year old and it's hard to locate a bed-and-breakfast that will accommodate a child. The hosts were spectacular and even provided little children's trinkets for our son which he loved. They were very festive as we were there on 4 July and had decorations and table settings for the holiday. Will go back soon!

Quiet and Lovely B&B

4.6 on July 12, 2017

A B&B is only as good as the hosts and we loved Dietmar and Marion. They are so accommodating and enjoyable, lovely breakfast and they take pride in their B&B. We were only a few minutes outside of Traverse City so we got the best of both worlds.

Heaven on Earth and then some

5 on July 08, 2017

My husband surprised me for our Anniversary with a two night stay,,,,,he chose WISELY. Sheer perfection. Hospitality like I have never experienced anywhere I have been. We sat on the patio with two other couples drinking wine and sharing stories. It is truly an amazing place to stay and we will visit again and quite often. Mike and Tammy Whitney 7-6-17

Continues to exceed all expectations

5 on July 07, 2017

This place is HOME to us. We love the serenity, the cleanliness, the over-the-top breakfasts and of course the very best Inn-Keepers we have ever meet. Dietmar and Marion are people that truly care that the guest have the best total experience while staying at their Inn. If you are interested in staying in the Traverse City area this is your place. Thank you for representing this property.

Our hosts were very friendly but not intrusive. The home was beautiful and immaculate. Very peaceful to sit on the patio and enjoy the gardens and the family cat. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful.

The recent stay we had was just amazing. Very clean, breakfast was yummy and people were very friendly and even the other guests were saying how pleased they were with just everything. Would definitely stay again.

A wonderful getaway!

5 on June 16, 2017

We were happy to arrive and have the beauty of The Wind in the Pines meet our expectations. Dietmar and Marion were friendly and wonderful hosts. We were thrilled when Dietmar told us of a new winery we could walk to just a few minutes up the hill where we enjoyed live music, wine, and a snack. Perfect location for our exploration of the Traverse City area and the dunes to the west.

Fantastic B & B

5 on June 14, 2017

Food is outstanding! The hosts are welcoming and supply useful info on Traverse City. Relaxing place, beautiful grounds.

Pat's review

The innkeepers Were very friendly, the service and breakfast was first class, the room was roomy and the location was in an isolated place but close to Traverse City and the wineries. We were so impressed that we made reservation for the fall

Wind in the Pines Review

5 on June 05, 2017

Wind in the Pines is a lovely B&B in a very peaceful setting. A great place to unwind from everyday hectic life. The full breakfast each morning was delicious and filling! Dietmar and Marion were very welcoming but also respectful of our privacy. We will definitely stay again whenever we are in the Traverse City area.

A Slice of Perfection

5 on May 22, 2017

During my stay here I jokingly tried to come up with some minor complaint to include in an online review to balance the glowingly positive things I could say. I came up quite short. From the beautiful (and perfectly clean) room to the inviting (and immaculately clean) bathroom to the homey and relaxing (and did I mention spotlessly clean?) common area to the beautiful setting to Marion's phenomenal breakfasts and hospitality (unfortunately we did not get to meet Dietmar), this place is a slice of perfection. There is no better way to say it and there is not even an infinitesimally small complaint to balance the review. Wind in the Pines is the gold standard for B&Bs.

2 happy seniors

Had a beautiful stay here. Marion was terrific and served a fabulous breakfast! A wonderful stay in a relaxing spot.

Phenomenal stay

Slice of Heaven

5 on October 01, 2016

This review is so late, but I must let everyone know how Dieter and Marion enhance your stay at Wind in the pines. We happened to be their very first guests when they took over the place. Their kindness and graciousness were abounding. They try the hardest to make your stay memorable! Sensing if you desire interaction or not, is an art, And they have it down pat. The B&B itself is home away from home. We love the rooms and the patio with a terrace backyard and a gazebo. We an spend hours just relaxing in this environment! The last time we stayed my husband had a migraine headache so we stayed in that night. Low and behold the following day's breakfast was a feast! Since they knew we were hungry, there was food in abundance. It was so sweet of them to go beyond the call of duty. I can not say enough about how happy they and their place makes us. . It is a slice of heaven!!!

We loved our stay at Wind In The Pines

5 on September 25, 2016

So many wonderful things about the B and B. Location great which allows you to go any direction in minutes. All the extra's wonderful. Sweets in the rooms. Beverages available and helpful inn keepers. Very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast was wonderful and we found ourselves eating only two meals a day. A two thumbs up choice and we would go back without hesitation.

4.6 on September 24, 2016

The location is perfect...close to Traverse City but in a beautiful wooded setting. The rooms are spacious and clean. The hosts are gracious and served a truly memorable breakfast each day. We consider it to be a destination stop for us in the future.

Lovely stay for 3days!

5 on September 04, 2016

We stayed 3 nights earlier this week. Everything was outstanding! Both Dietmar and Marion were wonderful hosts, very helpful in guiding us to restruants for dinner and site seeing in the area. The breakfasts were fantastic. So much food! Met a lovely couple and another family during the stay. This was our first visit to the area. Will be back!

A Restful Retreat

5 on August 31, 2016

Dietmar and Marion are superb hosts for your stay at their beautiful home. Marion's delicious and creative breakfasts will fill you up until mid-afternoon. The bedrooms and living room/dining room are spotless. The B&B is tucked away in the pines only 5 minutes from downtown Traverse City. I've stayed here 12 times in the last 4 years, and it's the only place I consider staying at whenever I travel back to the Leelanau Pennisula.

Great Place to Stay

Great place to stay

This is a great B&B. Only a 5 min drive from Traverse City. Everything about t the stay was excellent!!

Spotless home just outside of Traverse City

4.6 on August 18, 2016

We stayed in the Moose room. It was very large and comfortable, as was the ensuite bathroom, and both were absolutely spotless. The B&B has numerous small touches that make it stand out above others we've stayed at - chocolates in the room, a refrigerator stocked with beverages, local information on restaurants, and delicious breakfast. It is just 5 minutes away from Traverse City, but feels like you are being pampered in the woods, away from the hustle and bustle. We will definitely be back.

Absolutely Beautiful

5 on August 18, 2016

My wife and child stayed at Wind in the Pines while we were in the area to attend a wedding. Our experience was phenomenal! The grounds and house were beautiful and meticulously cared for. Having stayed in several bed and breakfasts in this general area, I can say with absolute certainty that this is the best. I strongly recommend staying at Wind in the Pines.

Wonderful B&B

4.8 on August 16, 2016

Will definitely stay here again. A little hard to find late at night, beware ... Google and Apple Maps puts in in the wrong place use the map on their website. Immaculate, wonderful setting, great white pines, setting and room. Breakfast was good except it was only one selection of entree.

Wonderful Weekend Spot

4.8 on August 12, 2016

We had the most wonderful stay. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, the hospitality unmatched and food was delicious. Wind in the Pines is very popular so be sure to book early. We can't wait to return next summer.

Away oasis in Traverse City!

5 on August 11, 2016

We were in Traverse City for a wedding and stayed two nights at Wind in the Pines. Dietmar and Marion are gracious hosts and their home is beautiful! We stayed in the Bear room which is spacious with the most comfortable bed. From the moment you enter their home you can see all the detail that was put into the home. The woodwork, furniture, amenities all are top notch. I was able to relax for a little bit in their backyard and it was so calming with the fountain, beautiful landscape and peaceful setting I could have stayed there forever. The breakfast is amazing! The location of the home is only a few minutes from downtown Traverse City.

Lovely stay

5 on August 09, 2016

This place is top notch if you are looking for a quiet place away from the busy downtown. With just 3 guest rooms it is quiet and peaceful. Everything was spotless . Marian serves an awesome breakfast every morning at 9:00. She is a wonderful cook and everything is presented so nicely. I would definitely stay here again when returning to Traverse City.

We wish we could have stayed more than one night. We'll be back.

Great Stay!

5 on July 23, 2016

Great stay all the way around. Impeccably clean rooms and outstanding breakfasts with great variety. Very peaceful setting and the owners are more than happy to help out in any way possible. Will definitely try to arrange another stay.

Nice and peaceful stay

4.4 on July 21, 2016

This was my first time using a BB. This was also the first get away shared with my girlfriend. We enjoyed the peace and traquility of our room. Located just a short drive from downtown traverse city. We enjoyed two solid days of wine tasting in the area. Our breakfast was served rite in time. It was a fantastic stay. When reserving I knew they did not have a hot tub or sauna... Something I wish they had because I really enjoy a good sauna.

The Best Place To Stay In Traverse City

5 on July 04, 2016

The Wind in the Pines is just a lovely oases that is central to all that there is to see and do in the Traverse City area. The setting is just lovely and after a hard day of sight seeing a great place to come home to and unwind. Dietmar and Marion are gracious host. You will not believe the breakfast they serve (heavenly). The rooms are large and vary nice.

Awesome Anniversary in Traverse City

4.8 on July 03, 2016

My wife and I stayed at the Wind in the Pines near Traverse City at the end of June. The room was spacious and well appointed with everything you would ever need. The breakfast was first rate and delicious. My only complaint was there was too much food :) Deitmar makes and awesome rum pineapple fruit cup and is a wealth of information about the local area. Thanks for a memorable anniversary celebration!

Best B&B in Traverse City

5 on June 26, 2016

Had a great stay at the Wind In The Pines. The rooms were very clean, had everything we needed for our stay and each room has their own bathrooms. Dietmar and Marion were very nice and accommodating hosts. The breakfast each morning was great. The B&B is beautiful and very welcoming outside as well. My wife and I enjoyed sitting outside under the trellis having a drink and just relaxing. On the Saturday while we were there waiting for our ride to pick us up for our wine tour, the owner made us a great margarita, on his own, Good people. We loved our stay and will definitely stay there again. I have already referred many friends to this B&B.

We cannot wait to return

Best B&B Experience Ever!

5 on May 14, 2016

The private, quiet location of this B&B makes it a perfect place for relaxation. It is clean and beautifully decorated. The common area is furnished with everything my husband and I and the couple we were traveling with needed for late afternoon/early evening appetizers and drinks (we provided the food and drink) prior to going out for dinner. We stayed in the the Moose Room and found it very comfortable. Again, it was furnished with everything we needed and has been meticulously maintained. Finally, (and I save the best for last ...) the breakfasts were better than the best breakfast I have ever had! Everything was prepared and presented with perfection. From the fruit, to the main course, to the sweet ending ... it was all so delicious! Dietmar and Marion are most gracious hosts, giving just the right amount of attention during breakfast and always available if needed.

Best Bed and Breakfast ever!!!

5 on January 16, 2016

We had the best time at The Wind in the Pines. Everything was just amazing. The breakfast was great! The room was very clean. Our hosts Dietmar and Marion are amazing. They treated us very well. This is the place to stay in Traverse City. We will visit again.

Christmas break

4.8 on December 29, 2015

My husband and I stayed here 12/26/15 thru 12/28/15 for our Christmas gift to each other. We chose this B&B for its location it is centrally located to downtown Traverse City as well as the wineries. Did we get a bonus! Dietmar and Marion were AMAZING! Their home is lovely and our room (Moose) was so inviting and comfy. Breakfast was so good. Our first morning we had croissants filled with ham and eggs; potatoes with zucchini, summer squash and peppers; mousse with fresh blueberries, and a cake with chocolate chips covered in a glaze. YUMMY! If you walk away from there hungry it's your own fault. Our second breakfast was eggs benedict with canadian bacon, spinach leaves and the hollandaise sauce? OMGosh! We will be going back there in May for our anniversary. Thank you Dietmar and Marion for our enjoyable weekend

Completely Satisfied

5 on October 23, 2015

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Pine Cone room. The room was even nicer than the pictures online, the breakfast was phenomenal and Ditmar recommended a fantastic Asian restaurant "Red Ginger". The sushi was great and the dragon wings were amazing. Definitely 100% recommend anyone to stay here.

Amazing! A piece of heaven on earth

5 on October 11, 2015

We have been at this b&b twice and plan to go back next year! We absolutely love it. The food is fabulous and the inn keepers make you feel so welcome. I would recommend this place to anyone.

We celebrated our 20 year anniversary together. . .

5 on September 30, 2015

We stayed there for our 20 year anniversary. It was quiet, clean, and comfortable. We loved the privacy and our own bathroom. We felt very safe. The breakfast was awesome and the host we're wonderful. I look forward to returning and I highly recommend staying there. You'll enjoy yourselves.

Amazing stay!

5 on September 10, 2015

We stayed in the Pine Cone Room for 4 nights. It was our first time in a B&B so I was a little unsure, but booked it based on location, other reviews and the price. IT WAS THE BEST! Marion and Deitmar were so welcoming and Marion's breakfasts were much more than expected. Everything was delicious. I cannot say enough good about this place. I'm afraid that my expectations will be too high for future stays in other lodging. Highly recommend Wind in the Pines!!

A wonderful place to stay!

5 on September 03, 2015

This bed and breakfast is tucked away, just outside of the busy Traverse City downtown. Dietmar and Marion are very welcoming and keep a supremely tidy home. We first stayed there back in 2013 and again last month (August 2015) with our 2 children. They went above and beyond to ensure our family's comfort during our 3 night stay. Breakfasts were AMAZING, and their knowledge of the area was great when it came to planning what we might want to see in the area. Highly recommend! We plan a return visit in the coming years, for sure. It's like visiting family.

Quiet weekend July 4th away from hustle and bustle

My boyfriend and I enjoyed every minute of our stay. It was our first time staying at a Bed and Breakfast and Wind in the Pines exceeded our expectations. The couple was overly friendly and very helpful! They provided us with tourism suggestions and tips. The breakfast was also unique and tasted amazing each morning! We will definitely be back :)

Excellent.. We will be back

5 on May 29, 2015

Nicest B&B I have stayed at. Quiet rooms and excellent service. There is a reason they are always booked up.

Absolutely outstanding!

5 on May 20, 2015

Our hosts were so wonderful, very nice and welcoming. The bed and breakfast is just beautiful. The rooms were so nicely decorated and clean. The common area as well was so beautifully decorated and very clean. The property is stunning with all the wildlife, flowers and trees. The breakfasts were just spectacular. So much food. Not just a plain jane breakfast. The first morning we had a cajun pancake, yum, filled the while plate and also a mango mouse with blueberries and a breakfast cheesecake. The second morning we had an egg, sausage and mushroom bake, strawberries with whipped cream and a blueberry muffin. They made sure throughout breakfast that we had enough coffee and orange juice. We were so impressed. We will definitely be back. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary so it was nice to not have been disappointed.

Stellar service and food! Best B & B in Traverse!

5 on April 30, 2015

My fiancé and I stayed here for three nights this past weekend and had the very best time here. I received a welcome packet in the mail a few weeks ahead of time with very helpful instructions and introduction. The location is very close to downtown Traverse City and also located at the base of the Leelanau and Old Mission Peninsulas. This was perfect for our purposes as we were up on wine tasting tours. Dietmar was very helpful with maps and booklets about the area. His recommendation of eating at the Apache Trout Grill was perfect, we had an amazing meal on the water there and it was 5 minutes from the B&B. The rooms were very clean and there is a patio out back to sit and enjoy the wooded views. Each morning Marion amazed us with her cooking talents. First morning we had a kale hash baked with eggs on top, mango puree with berries, and a peach cake. Second morning was eggs benedict scramble with cheese sauce, third morning we were served jambalaya crepes! We would definitely stay here again, and hope to return soon.

October 24-27, 204

5 on October 30, 2014

When we booked the trip we already had some good expectations having been to the area before, but our stay at Wind in the Pines put it over the top. We were blown away by the hospitality provided by Dietmar and Marion the entire weekend. They made us feel at home as soon as we stepped in the door, and everything was taken care of as if it were their own home. Breakfast was excellent and quite filling every morning, and Marion was very accommodating of any special needs that we or fellow guest had. We will definitely be back again! Jon from Cincinnati

Our 6th stay there!

Beautiful, serene, and comfortable. Excellent gourmet breakfasts. Charming hosts.

Loved the Moose Roon

4.0 on October 24, 2014

Stayed for one evening in the Moose Room at Wind in the Pines. Very comfortable room with everything that you could hope for. Very close to some great restaurants and shopping in Traverse City and only 1/2 hour from the Dunes. Breakfast was shared with the other 2 couples that were staying at the B&B. We had a lovely breakfast prepared by Marion and enjoyed the hospitality of Dietmar. The grounds are exquisite with outside sitting areas. We will definitely be back on our next visit.

All-around Excellent Stay

4.8 on October 13, 2014

The Wind in the Pines is a wonderful bed & breakfast. It is about 4 miles away from the noise and bussle of Traverse City. My husband & I enjoyed the seculsion and that there were only three guest rooms. It's a real log cabin, relatively new build, and was exceptionally clean and comfortable. The hosts, Dietmar and Marion, were also a delightful couple, who were very knowledgeable about the area, and helped us with our itinerary. The breakfasts were OUTSTANDING! Probably the best I've had at a B&B. We would stay again.

Love this Place!

5 on October 06, 2014

I great get away not far from the city, but far enough to enjoy the quiet. The rooms are spacious and cheery. The grounds are meticulously maintained and breakfast was too good to describe! Can't say enough great things about the experience! Chris and Connie, Toledo Ohio

Quiet Oasis

4.8 on October 05, 2014

Beautiful grounds surround this 7-yr-old home in the country - 10 minutes from downtown Traverse City. Ditmar and Marion are a wonderful couple, welcoming and informative. They will chat if you want but leave you alone after describing their masterfully prepared breakfasts- for which they take great pride- we kept forgetting to ask for half-portions. The rooms, we saw two of three, are spacious, impeccably decorated, and spotless. Located between TC and Sleeping Bear Dunes, this was a great center for exploring Leelanau area- including Suttons Bay, for cute shops, and Leland, for The Cove restaurant, and Fishtown - as well as numerous wineries. Would definitely stay here on next trip to Traverse City.

Nicest B&B

4.8 on September 28, 2014

Our 4-day stay was the best B&B experience we have had. Dietmar & Marion are really great hosts and make you feel like you've known them for years. Accommodations, food and service were excellent. With only 3 rental units you have a great chance to interact with your hosts. We will recommend Wind in the Pines to others and we will return.

Great Get Away Weekend

5 on September 24, 2014

This is what a bed & breakfast experience should be! Our room (the Bear room) had a comfortable king bed. Very roomy with a private bath. Breakfast both mornings Was fantastic! Marion and Dietmar are such gracious hosts. The grounds surrounding the B&B are well cared for and there Is peace and quiet! Just outside the hustle of the city. We will definitely come back again.

Could Not Have Been Better!

5 on September 22, 2014

This B&B was exactly what I was looking for: a newer, clean, updated log cabin in the middle of a pine forest! It was off the beaten path but only a few miles from Traverse City's restaurants, shopping, etc. We stayed in the Moose room which was very spacious and had an ensuite, spacious bath. Even though it was in the lower level, we did not feel like we were in a basement as we had two windows that overlooked the green space. The breakfasts were amazing (you can almost skip lunch) in both quality and quantity. The hosts, the Stollenwerk's could not have been kinder or friendlier. We will be back!! Thank you, Dietmar and Marion, from Molly and Steve.

Very nice b&b. Close to downtown traverse city but out enough for real peace and quiet. Great breakfast as well.

5 on August 22, 2014

Our three-night stay at Wind in the Pines was a truly lovely experience from beginning to end. Marion and Dietmar thoughtfully provided every nicety that a person could possibly ask for. The grounds and building are absolutely immaculate and beautifully maintained. The b&b is nested in a pine grove and is blissfully quiet. The food was a gourmet lover's dream. Breakfasts were thoroughly delicious and delightfully presented. Everything was done with the kindest thoughtfulness and consideration. Best of all were Marion and Dietmar. We felt as though we were in the care of dear friends. They are two of the nicest, most caring people we have ever had the pleasure to meet. It was our sincere pleasure to stay at Wind in the Pines, and we very much look forward to returning whenever we are in Traverse City.

Love "Wind in the Pines"

5 on August 21, 2014

We absolutely loved this B & B. Dietmar and Marion were great hosts. We will definitely stay here again. The food and the presentation of the food for breakfast was in my opinion rated 5 stars. I will recommend this B & B to my friends if they are to visit this area.

Absolutely amazing first time bed and breakfast

5 on August 14, 2014

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast. It set our standards high to say the least. It was absolutely amazing. The couple was so nice and helpful. They provided many different brochures to help navigate the area. The outside patio was the perfect place to relax after site seeing all day. The best thing about it though was Marion makes the most amazing breakfast everyday. You were so stuffed by the end that you didn't need lunch. You won't want to miss out! Overall it was a great experience and we highly highly recommend it.

Girls trip!

4.8 on August 11, 2014

We were very happy with our stay! Rooms were comfortable. We had the innkeepers put a mattress on the floor so 3 of us could stay in the room. Still very comfortable! Cleanest B&B I think I've ever been in. Breakfasts were really good. Innkeepers gave us our space but we're very friendly when we had a chance to chat. Would definitely stay here again!

The BEST B&B experience we've ever had!

5 on August 10, 2014

My husband and I are seasoned B&B goers, and we have seen the full spectrum of accommodations, service, and (of course) breakfasts. We stayed at Wind in the Pines as a part of our honeymoon trip this summer (2014), and we both agreed it was the most wonderful B&B we have stayed in, yet! Dietmar and Marion are such a friendly and warm couple. They were extremely helpful with recommendations, and cleaned and reset our room every day of our stay (we had never seen that, before)! The room was lovely, with a private bath, TV, and separate thermostat. They have a beautiful outdoor patio, which we took advantage of every evening to sit and take in the forest around us. We were also kept company by their outdoor cat, Genie. Oh, and don't forget the breakfast!! Homemade, warm, 3-course breakfasts every single morning. They even made substitutions for me, as a vegetarian. A friend told us about a great breakfast place downtown, and we never made it there, because we didn't want to miss the amazing breakfast at Wind in the Pines... another thing we'd never experienced before. Obviously, I cannot gush enough about Wind in the Pines! From beginning to end, we enjoyed our stay, immensely. You will, too!!

great b&b

5 on August 10, 2014

This is the second time we've stayed and it was just as lovely as I remembered it. beautiful setting, very peaceful and quiet. The service was fantastic and the breakfast was amazing!. Planning to return in the fall!

Beautiful house, friendly people, very clean, great food, very relaxing, can't recommend them highly enough.

home away from home

5 on August 06, 2014

This Bed & Breakfast is a MUST if you look for a quiet get-away from home. The beautiful log home is nestled in a pine forest, on a very well maintained property, and only a few minutes drive from Traverse City. The owners made us feel at home the moment we got there. The rooms are inviting, cozy and super clean and have everything you need. The breakfast is made from scratch, very healthy with organic ingredients - not the typical pancake, waffle or oatmeal breakfast! This was our first stay at the "Wind in the Pines", but for sure not our last one. We will be back! Thank you for a great weekend!

Great B and B in Traverse City

4.8 on August 04, 2014

Beautiful modern log cabin home on wooded property. Only a few miles out of town but feels more remote. Not cheap but for Traverse City it is reasonable and a much nicer room then you will find at a chain motel for a similar price. Owners were very friendly and breakfast was great. Look forward to staying again sometime.

Perfect B & B

5 on July 21, 2014

We had a wonderful stay at the Wind in the Pines. Dietmar and Marion are the perfect hosts; they're available if you have a question but don't intrude on your stay. The B&B is immaculate and feels like 'home'. The breakfasts prepared by Marion are 5 star, making a great start to your day. The building was purpose built as a B&B so there aren't any compromises in terms of bath rooms, entry doors, etc. Wonderful Inn keepers, beautiful grounds, and gourmet breakfasts!

Will Definitely Stay Again

5 on July 21, 2014

We always stay in B&B's if we can when we travel. This was one of the best. Beautiful surroundings, the rooms were good size and oh so comfy. Sofas and chairs begged to be sat in and just relax. The breakfasts were very yummy and you won't need to eat lunch later on. Dietmar and Marion are wonderful hosts. We definitely will stay again.

Everything about this place is top notch... the peaceful setting, easy-access and well-appointed rooms, DELICIOUS breakfast, and warm and friendly hosts! The access to the entire area is very convenient - we will stay here again if/when we get back to the area!

We stayed two nights in his wonderful location. It's convenient to so much and yet feels out of the way. The room was decorated wonderfully as was the entire guest grounds. The breakfasts were amazing and the hosts are so sweet and helpful with the regional 'to do's' Tons of pride of ownership in this establishment and the attention to detail was appreciated. Would and will highly recommend to any traveling in this area. Loved it!

1st Anniversary Stay

My husband and I chose Wind in the Pines off of a recommendation from friends of ours, and what an excellent recommendation they gave us! With this being our first B&B, we absolutely loved our stay! The hospitality and breakfast was outstanding! Marion and Dietmar make you feel right at home, and the rooms were very clean! They were very personable and got to know each guest, and made sure they were comfortable in their home. We can't forget the resident dog, Spoddy, and cat, Genie, who welcomed our stay too :) With the b&b just a few short miles from downtown TC, and up to wine taste in the peninsula...we would definitely go back for a second visit! Thank you again for a wonderful anniversary stay!

My husband and I stayed at the Wind in the Pines this past weekend for our anniversary. The house was outstanding, very clean and hospitality was fantastic. The owners were extremely welcoming and friendly. We will definitely go back!

I looked at others on line in Traverse City on line but when I saw this beautiful Log home and did a map quest from downtown is was minutes, like 10-15.It was more stunning in person than the pictures. Hey...your "up North" why not stay in the woods? Very quiet and Miriam and Ditmar were awsome hosts. A very unique and healthy breakfast. Would come back in a minute and will be a regular customer. Thank You !

They told us about the happening things in the city. They made great breakfast. You will be full. They had a good desert every day. My wife forgot her jacket at this place. It was really nice of them to call us back and let know about that and they also mailed it back to me. I didn't had to pay the shipping expenses as well. Great people. . Great Hosts.

It's immaculately clean, the rooms are very comfortable, the breakfasts large and delicious and our hosts very warm and accommodating. It was warm enough the use the outdoor patio in the evening, set amid the landscaped grounds with lots of birds. It's a quiet oasis, just minutes from Traverse City. We will return.

5 on September 01, 2013

The Wind in the Pines was a wonderful place to stay. Very quiet, excellent location and the innkeepers, Dietmar and Marion, were so gracious and welcoming. Terrific breakfasts--when we had to leave early for activities in the area they put bags of food together for us that fed us the entire day. And as I said in the title, this was simply the cleanest place we've ever stayed anywhere. I would happily stay here again.

Wind in the Pines is Wonderful

5 on August 29, 2013

We loved everything about our stay at the Wind in the Pines and hope to go back again some time. Our room was wonderful and the breakfast was outstanding.

Charming B&B

5 on August 28, 2013

This B&B was truly exceptional! I only wish that we were able to stay longer. It is so peaceful, yet close enough to the city. Dietmar & Marion are so friendly and accommodating. You couldn't find a better place to stay. We highly recommend this place and will surely return and stay longer.

As nice as could be

5 on August 18, 2013

My wife and I stayed here for our 25th wedding Anniversary, The location is great because although secluded it is very close to downtown Traverse City. The grounds are romantic, relaxing and beautiful. The rooms were immaculate. The Breakfast were unique and delicious. We truly enjoyed our stay there and Thank our gracious hosts Dietmar and Marion for providing us with so many wonderful memories.

Honestly Thee Best of Thee Best!

Well Kept Secret and great location versus in town options.

Loved this Bed & Breakfast, especially the food!

4.0 on August 14, 2013

We would definately return to this Bed & Breakfast. The hosts were very friendly and prepared wonderful breakfasts for us. The room was quaint and the grounds beautiful. This is close enough to Traverse City but not too close as you can enjoy the country & peaceful setting.

Quiet and clean.

5 on August 11, 2013

Lovely setting in the woods. Very clean rooms and a delicious breakfast. Hope to return again .

A Beautiful Place

5 on August 06, 2013

I stayed at Wind in the Pines during my visit to Traverse City for the film festival. The location provides quick access to downtown, but is far enough removed that you are surrounded by nature. My room was spacious and very clean. The breakfasts served each morning were delicious. I couldn't ask for a better experience, and have already booked my room for next summer.

Our favorite B&B in the Traverse City area

5 on August 04, 2013

New owners Marion and Dietmar are the perfect hosts, so genuinely friendly that you instantly feel comfortable around them. They catered to our dietary restrictions for breakfast without compromising flavor. We are looking forward to our next weekend stay at the Wind in the Pines B & B.

We'll be back!

4.2 on August 01, 2013

My partner and I had a great time when we stayed at Wind in the Pines for a nearby wedding. The innkeepers were so friendly and hospitable, the room we stayed in (Bear room) was large, very comfortable, and very clean. Breakfasts were delicious and filling and Marion took great care in accommodating dietary needs. The grounds were beautiful and peaceful (loved hearing the wind chimes and fountain in the morning). We were able to easily access restaurants and tourist destinations around us. If we find ourselves in the area again, we'll first see if they have availability before trying to book elsewhere.

Wish I could have stayed longer

4.6 on July 30, 2013

Dietmar and Marion have a very well-kept bed and breakfast. The sheer look of it, with its beautiful log cabin-style and bear decorations had everything that we were looking for in a getaway. Even though we were only miles from the city, Wind in the Pines put us in a county state of mind and the food during breakfast put us in an overall heavenly state of mind. I really don't have any complaints about our stay, and the shower was literally one of the most relaxing that I have used a B&B. Nice and roomy. I hate that we only were able to stay for a night, but we will totally try to get up there in the new future.

4.4 on July 29, 2013

This bed and breakfast was absolutely beautiful! Extremely clean and the service from the innkeepers was amazing! I will always try to stay here instead of a hotel! Minutes from downtown!

4.4 on July 29, 2013

Clean and very nice. Cleaning people very friendly. I thought the inn keepers could have been more friendly. I would go back.

The perfect B&B, operated by two of the nicest people ever!

5 on July 27, 2013

We stayed two nights in mid-July 2013. The owners are very gracious, have high standards, and prepare marvelous breakfasts. The accommodations are large and very well appointed (Michigan cabin, log-home theming). Only five minutes outside Traverse City, far enough to be very private. We will stay there again!

An amazing place to stay near Traverse City!

4.6 on July 26, 2013

What a fabulous bed and breakfast. The rooms were spotless and the whole place was very tastefully decorated. Breakfast was good although a little on the unique side. Dietmar & Marion could not have been more pleasant and gracious hosts. I doubt there's a better place to stay in Traverse City. Would definately recommend this place a million times over!

Great B&B

4.4 on July 25, 2013

Excellent quiet location only 10 minutes out of Traverse City. Easy to get to all tourist attractions from here.

Outstanding Bed and Breakfast

4.8 on July 23, 2013

We had a wondeful experience at Wind in the Pines B&B. The setting just a few miles outside of town was scenic and secluded, with beautiful pines trees all around. The rustic log cabin has superior accomodations, is clean, and very well maintained. The hosts were very gracious and served a wonderful breakfast every morning. I would highly recommend it, and will refer several of my friends who are planning trips to the Traverse City area

Great Getaway!

4.8 on July 15, 2013

This was the first bed and breakfast we had ever tried and it was outstanding. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Their towels and linens were spotless. The hosts were friendly and accommodating. Great place for a weekend getaway.

great central location for exploring the area

5 on July 13, 2013

Lovely rooms and a quiet location to explore the region. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served to all the guests at one table so conversation between the guests was encouraged. Food was terrific.

Gluten Free in Traverse City, MI

5 on July 09, 2013

We traveled around Michigan 7/2013. I have to eat Gluten Free and found this to be one of the most beautiful B&B's I have ever stayed in. The GF food was amazing! We loved our room but most of all we really loved Marion and Dietmar. They made us feel so welcome. We went on to another B&B in Mackinaw City and I have to say that I missed our hosts so much that I wasn't happy with our next destination. Thank you Marion and Dietmar for making our trip so wonderful. If we are ever in the area again we will be show to contact you to stay again.

5 enjoyable days in T.C. at Wind in the Pines

4.8 on July 07, 2013

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Wind in the Pines. The quiet setting was a nice reprieve from full days of touring the area. It was always nice to drive the winding road, then through the pines to our B and B at the end of the day. Dietmar and Marion were charming, engaging hosts! The breakfasts were delicious, every day, a new savory item for the palate.

Wonderful getaway in the woods but close to so much!

4.8 on July 07, 2013

Lovely room in a peaceful setting with the perfect hosts tending to us without being at all intrusive. Marion's breakfasts were delicious!

A very relaxing spot every way you look at it.

4.8 on July 02, 2013

I hate to review this place so highly because I don't want it booked next time we go to Traverse City! However, I want to support the innkeepers, who were delightful, so I will be honest. Because it was out of town, it was very quiet and peaceful. Getting to town was very quick. The place is VERY clean, spacious and comfortable. We felt we had lots of personal space yet also had the opportunity to converse with other guests. A beautiful setting and kind innkeepers.

Wonderful B&B

5 on June 30, 2013

We stayed for a long weekend at Wind in the Pines and had a wonderful time. It was totally relaxing with a great breakfast every morning. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds.

We loved our stay!

5 on June 28, 2013

We stayed for some days. Comming from Switzerland, first time Traverse City/Michigan experience. Excellent breakfast, everything nice done and clean. Perfect size, just 3 rooms with a wunderfull living-room. Marion and Dietmar are lovely and helpful Innkeepers. We recommend this B&B to everyone ... thanks for the great time! Max&Rosa

Best in town

5 on June 11, 2013

We stayed at this wonderful B&B before. The home was specifically designed to be a B&B so it is unique. It is close to the city resting in a small forest of pines--spectacular setting. The home is beautiful, clean, and relaxing. New owners Dietmar and Marion are wonderful! They enhance the charm of this B&B. We can not imagine a better place to stay.

Peace and quiet aplenty, yet close to everything in the Grand Traverse area

4.6 on June 11, 2013

The "Wind in the Pines" B & B has a vary rare combination of all of the elements you would possibly look for in a bed and breakfast: Wonderfully appointed and immaculate rooms; gracious and very personable hosts; beautiful home with gorgeously landscaped grounds (every bit as beautiful as the photos); secluded, rural location, yet only 7 or 8 minutes from downtown Traverse City. This is just an all-around wonderful place! It is an ideal location to serve as your base for exploring the Leelanau Peninsula, Traverse City, the Mission Peninsula, and the two wonderful bays. There is no chance of being disappointed with the Wind in the Pines B & B!

Great stay!

4.8 on June 04, 2013

10/5/2012 stay

5 on October 10, 2012

We came in on Friday, left on Sunday. The breakfast, hospitality, and cleanliness was outstanding.

Great B&B in a very nice location

5 on October 08, 2012

Super B&B--great hosts, great food, great room, easy parking, fantastics views of the countryside, great information from the hosts. We have been here twice in about a five year span and it is always top-shelf. When us Texans travel to Northern Michigan again we will definitely stay at the Wind in the Pines B &B.

Perfect upnorth B&B

5 on October 01, 2012

Wonderful B&B.Rooms spacious and spotless. Cozy sitting area for guests with coffee and cold bottled water. Grounds are designed for guests enjoyment with Pine Pergola covering a brick patio with table and chairs. Hosts provide a wealth of information on restaurants and local attractions. No details overlooked for your stay.

Better than advertised

5 on September 26, 2012

Chuck and Cindee were excellent hosts with plenty of great recommendations for enjoying our stay in the Traverse City area. The rooms were spacious and exceptionally well appointed. The guest areas were lovely both inside and out -- and the location, just outside the city, was ideal. We were attracted by the WEBsite photos and description, but the real thing was even better!

Our first B&B experience-absolutely wonderful!

5 on September 26, 2012

We were always leery of staying at a Bed & Breakfast. Our first experience, at Wind in the Pines, was fantastic. I would definitely go back again. The accommodations are very nice and we had a nice stay. Vic and Mickey were our guest innkeepers. They were very sweet and helpful. Chuck and Cindee, you have beautiful home. Thank you for sharing it with us!

Fantastic place to stay!

4.6 on September 18, 2012

We cannot say too many positive things about this place! The room was spotless and I truly felt as if I was staying with family. The owners did a fantastic job making us feel comfortable. There are three rooms total, we stayed in the moose room. The bed is great, bathroom is spacious and super clean. Breakfast was served promptly at 9am at a large table where we all sat together and had a nice visit. We will go back for sure and have already recommeded this B&B to friends.

5 on September 17, 2012

/We've stayed in several B & B's, both in the States and in Europe, and Wind in the Pines is definitely one of the best. The personable innkeepers, the cozy decor, the lovely landscaping, as well as the always unique breakfasts make it a place to return to again and again.

Beautiful Get-away !!!

4.0 on September 14, 2012

We stayed in the "Bear" room it was beautiful - the entire place is very charming - loved the "woodsy" setting ..............

Beautiful woodland setting

4.6 on September 01, 2012

We stayed in the Moose room which was very spacious and had beautiful views looking out on the pines. There was a lovely patio right outside our door and a small covered wooden seat in the woods which was perfect for contemplation or meditation. Although we were surrounded by trees, Wind in the Pines is a very short drive into Traverse City. We would definitely stay at Wind in the Pinese again.

Wonderful B&B!

4.8 on August 28, 2012

Wind in the Pines was a great place to stay!  Our room (Bear) was spacious, very clean and well-decorated with a  "north woods theme" matching the house.  This was the cleanest B&B that we have stayed in.  Over our four-day stay, we were served a variety of fresh fruits, stuffed French toast with peach sauce, blueberry pancakes, an egg and sausage casserole, all of which were excellent.  The innkeepers were friendly, gracious and helpful with knowledge about local sights, roads and places to dine. Located in the country, several miles from Traverse City, the home is surrounded by pine trees with a terrace, flowers and fountain creating a calming outdoor ambiance.  Overall we had a delightful experience and would like to stay there again.

Traverse City, but more...

5 on August 13, 2012

A perfect location. Close enough to Traverse City to feel that you are there, yet right on the beautiful Leelanau Peninsula for their charming towns and delicious wines. Also really convenient to experience Sleeping Bear Dunes. Breakfast is gourmet!

Great Alternative!

4.6 on August 10, 2012

Instead of paying outrageous prices for a hotel room, enjoy this log cabin in the woods. It's tidy and comfy, and the breakfast is excellent!

Very Nice

4.8 on August 09, 2012

My husband and I stayed a couple nights at the Wind in the Pines. The service was good. The rooms were great. The breakfast was also great. The only thing I was bummed about was the maple syrup that was served with breakfast one morning. With the B&B being located in Michigan I had hoped that natural, pure maple syrup would be used. On my drive to the B&B I saw many local stands on the side of the road selling local, pure maple syrup. However, I was disappointed when they served us generic. Other than the that the place was very clean and very quiet. I would consider staying there again if we came for another visit.

A cozy little getaway!

5 on July 31, 2012

This is our 2nd time staying at Wind in the Pines. We enjoyed ourselves once again. The B&B is a cozy little getaway tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Traverse City, but still close enough to downtown. The Pinecone room was great! Clean and comfy! The inn keepers were friendly, knowledgeable about the surrounding areas, great cooks and wonderful hosts. They do not hover and they have a great common room for guests. My husband and I would stay here again.

charming b&b

5 on July 21, 2012

Beautiful log home b&b. Wonderful, peaceful setting. Friendly owners. Comfortable & relaxing accommodations. Would stay again!

Peaceful, much needed relaxation!

5 on July 14, 2012

What a change from your usual stuffy B & B! Chuck and Cindee were wonderful hosts and offered interesting history about different things around town. We enjoyed their wonderful breakfasts~ my favorite part of our stay was the Keurig coffee maker~I missed mine at home! We had our own entrance to our part of the B & B and they cleaned and refreshed our room when we left for the day. They put a lot of thought into creating this B & B. If we visit Traverse City again, we will definitely stay at Wind in the Pines B & B again.

Our 1st stay in a Bed and Breakfast.

4.6 on July 11, 2012

Our stay was very nice. The room was cozy and comfortable with a large bath. Our breadfast was quite good. And the siting area outside was peaceful and relaxing. The location to Traverse City was very handy. Dianne Ross

Best B&B Ever

5 on July 07, 2012

Had a lovely stay, and everything was great. Cindee and Chuck, the owners, are very welcoming and they know the area like the back of their hands. We stayed in the moose room and it was very comfortable. The bed was amazing -- no backaches. The breakfasts were stunning as well. We cleaned our plates! This is by far the best bed and breakfast where we have stayed ...just wish we could have stayed longer.

4.8 on June 25, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Wind in the Pines for a weekend trip. Inn-sitters were running the place in the absence of the owners who were away for a few days, but they were delightful and competent in all respects. The B&B is spotlessly clean and has such a great atmousphere. The breakfasts are fabulous. We like the location - convenient to Traverse City, but quiet and away from the hustle-bustle. It is also on the west side of town, so it makes traveling to Sleeping Bear Dunes an easy drive.

Home away from home

5 on June 22, 2012

This was our first time in a Bed and Breakfast. It was a great experience. We will do it again for sure!

Retreat in the Pines

5 on June 22, 2012

The room was well appointed and the bed was so comfortable that it was the first time I slept through the night on our whole trip. Loved the 24 hour coffee and tea setup. It just added to the homey feel of the place.

Beautiful Natural & Relaxing Environment

5 on June 14, 2012

We enjoyed our stay from the minute we arrived. Rooms were spacious & nicely decorated with "Up North" themes. All of the grounds, common areas, & rooms were immaculately maintained inside & out. The hosts, Chuck & Cindee could not have been nicer - gave us total privacy to enjoy our stay once they greeted us and settled us in. The breakfast was one of the best we have ever had at a B & B - 5 star! Great place & great hosts - you will not be disappointed with this choice.

Classy establishment with a warm inviting touch!

4.6 on June 05, 2012

Stayed over on a Monday &Tuesday! Had the place to ourselves. Owners friendly and informative, engaging and respectful. The accommodations are top notch and the hosts pay attention to details. If ever in a position to Be traveling to Traverse City again, would stay again for sure!

Relaxing B & B

5 on May 30, 2012

Once again, a wonderful visit to our favority B & B! Chuck and Cindee provide outstanding hospitality and delicious meals. They even provided an extra Continental Breakfast for the runners returning from the Bayshore Marathon. I would recommend this place for anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing stay in a beautiful log cabin house. Looking forward to our next visit.

beautiful and clean

4.8 on May 22, 2012

Traverse City was hosting a large tournament and all the hotels were booked. I needed three rooms for my family, some of who were from DC. So, we wanted their visit to be perfect. This B&B is an immaculate log cabin. Easy distance from Traverse. The rooms are spacious, each with its own bathroom. The owners Chuck and Cindy are top-notch on the care of their home, taking care of their guests, and good cooks. This is the place to come if you want, clean, quiet and pleasant surroundings in a very nice log cabin.

Amazing log cabin & incredible setting.

4.2 on May 10, 2012

We truly enjoyed our stay at Wind in the Pine. What a beautiful log cabin and an incredible nature setting. Difficult to leave.

Oustanding Anniversary Weekend!

4.8 on October 26, 2011

Chuck and Cindee were gracious hosts and helped us celebrate our 10th anniversary. The property is peaceful and serene and really helped us unwind and relax. The breakfast was delicious both mornings of our stay and much better than anything you would find in the local restaurants. The room and the guest common area were exceptionally clean and well maintained. Chuck and Cindee are also very knowledgeable of the area and provided lots of great advice on restaurants, wineries, etc. You will not be disappointed with your stay!

Best B&B we have every stayed at.....

4.0 on October 24, 2011

Our stay at Wind in the Pines was supberb!! My husband and I stayed in the Moose room during our stay and we were more than pleasantly surprised with the spacious room, the awesome view and how comfy the bed (&pillows) were. The Wind in the Pines is absolutely the best B&B we have ever stayed at. Everything was beyond our expectations. The rooms, the view, the beautiful and serene outdoor area all added up to a special weekend. Of course, we have to mention the Innkeepers, Chuck and Cindee McLaughlin, who were the best!! They were extemely personable, welcoming and just plain fun!! The breakfasts were awesome, the entire B&B was clean, warm and welcoming. An awesome value for such a great experience. We definitely plan to go back!! Tim & Sandy

great location for Leelanau peninsula wine tours

5 on October 21, 2011

We stayed 2 nights in the Moose room, which is on the lower level of the home. The room was very large and nicely furnished. Chuck and Cindee were great hosts who shared a wealth of information about the area and especially about the many wineries on both the Leelanau and Old Mission peninsulas. Breakfast both days was wonderful. We would definitely be return customers!

Another lovely stay.

5 on October 14, 2011

This was the second time that Angela and I stayed at Chuck & Cindee's beautiful B&B. Once again the rooms were spotless, the breakfasts equal to any 5 star restaurant, area and general information provided was pricless. We have definitly found a regular get away. And will recommend Wind in the Pines to all !!

We would definitely recommend this Bed & Breakfast to anyone who visits the Traverse City area

Lovely Place, Good Location

3.8 on September 21, 2011

This was a great place to stay to do both Traverse City & Sleeping Bear Dunes. Our days were so busy, though, that I almost felt like I needed to get back to the B&B to spend time there, given the price and the lovely common room to relax in.

Amazing Experience! We will definitely be back!

5 on September 08, 2011

My husband and I recently stayed at Wind in the Pines during a wine tasting trip in Traverse City. What an amazing experience! Chuck and Cindee were so accommodating, we felt right at home! The location was very secluded and we were very relaxed while we were there. We stayed in the Pine Cone room and it was very nice and clean. The breakfast was phenomenal both mornings we were there. We would definitely recommend Wind in the Pines to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat in Traverse City. Will definitely be back!

Perfect Getaway

4.6 on August 30, 2011

The room was beautiful, location was great and the breakfasts were fantastic. One minor issue was that the bed was a little squeaky. We loved the decor and the location was quiet. We will definitely go back

Innkeeper Response
Thanks so much for taking the time to post a review. I know how much other travelers rely on the comments of past guests. I regret your experience with the "squeaky bed" and would like to remedy this is the first we have heard of the problem. Please email me and let me know which room you stayed in. Thanks again!

My favorite place to stay in Traverse City (or anywhere, really)

5 on August 01, 2011

The setting is serene and beautiful, the rooms are luxurious, inviting and spotless and Chuck and Cindee are wonderful hosts. The breakfasts are outstanding - the blueberry french toast is unbelievable! We loved having breakfast together with the other guests. It was great to meet others visiting the area and to hear their recommendations of things to do. Chuck and Cindee also know the area very well and gave us excellent recommendations for dining, wine tasting and more. This is the second time we have stayed at Wind in the Pines and I can't imagine staying anywhere else.

Simple, elegant, lodge decor, attention to every detail.

traverse City

3.2 on July 29, 2011

This property is somewhat isolated and a bit difficult to find, but it was worth the effort. We enjoyed every minute of our stay and would most definitely return when we next visit the Traverse City area. We loved the isolation once we were settled in.

Travel Bliss

5 on July 26, 2011

We chose Wind in the Pines for our first ever B&B experience. Based on other's reviews we opted to stay for a week. Not to worry. All of the superlatives in the other reviews are appropriate. From design to execution Wind in the Pines provides an outstanding experience. We hope to stay there for every visit to the Traverse City area.

The Wind in the Pines B&B is a wonderful place to stay when you love nature and watching birds. It is a true getaway with very welcoming hosts. Chuck & Cindee put a lot of love not only in decorating their house in the "up north" style, but also into the delicious breakfast. We would come back any time and listen to the wind in the pines again.

The hearty breakfasts were beautifully presented and incredibly delicious!

We travel with my parents and stay in two of the three rooms they have. Each room is very spacious, clean, and decorated nicely. The living room/dining area is huge with awesome view and they provide books, DVDs, board games for guests as well. Breakfast is amazing with lots of homemade goodies and fresh fruits. Hosts are very knowledgable about the surrounding area, activities, and restaurants. We have good dining experience at the restaurants they suggest. If we visit traverse city again, we'll definitely consider staying again.

The McLaughlins were very welcoming and really know how to cook! We had a very relaxing visit and their recommendations made the trip even more special. They built their home with the purpose of having a B&B in mind and that allows for spacious rooms and private baths. We'll be returning next year!

Natural Stress Release

Fall getaway

5 on October 14, 2010

From our arrival to our time of leave taking, hosts Cindee and Chuck McLaughlin couldn't have been more cordial. They welcomed us cheerily, helped us with our bags, showed us our rooms and gave us "space" to get ourselves arranged before joining them in the spacious common room. We visited, catching up on the news from our last visit, and learning of their future plans. They introduced us to a new eatery we'd not visited earlier and we found the experience very pleasant. On day two of our visit, we left them to visit the Charlevoic area and a friend there, but when we arrived back at the end, they were again most hospitable, providing snack foods for munching until time for dinner.

We are coming back!!

5 on October 04, 2010

We were just there for a one night stay and it was wonderful. Chuck and Cindee were great hosts. Our compliments to the chefs for such an awesome breakfast. We certainly will be back to stay for a longer weekend. Fabulous log cabin home and a beautiful, serene location. We have stayed in many B&B's, but this one was one of our favorites. Thanks for a wonderful stay. Janine and Dan

We would highly recommend this B&B

We chose this B&B because of all the positive comments from former guests and we were not disappointed. It should have a 5 star rating with it's warm and friendly atmosphere and great breakfasts. We plan to tell all our friends then hope to be able to get a room when we are in T.C. again.

Just booked our 2nd trip to the Wind in the Pines!

My husband and I stayed at Wind in the Pines last October '09 for our anniversary. It was our first bed and breakfast experience and it was everything we had hoped for! We loved the log cabin coziness, we stayed in the Pine cone room. Our hosts, Chuck and Cindee were wonderful. Full of knowledge about the area and they made the most amazing breakfasts! We just booked our 2nd trip for this October for our anniversary! I would highly recommend Wind in the Pines to anyone.

Chuck and Cindee are the consumate hosts! Wind in the Pines is beautiful and probably the cleanest B&B I've ever stayed in. HUGE bathrooms, all private. Comfy clean bed and gorgeous grounds. Breakfast was YUMMY and we really enjoyed the peace and quiet that Wind in the Pines has to offer.

Amazing, beautiful, stunning...

Cindee and Chuck have a beautiful log cabin home just outside of downtown Traverse City, and we had the pleasure of staying at Wind in the Pines over the weekend for 2 nights. We were blown away at how beautiful, charming, and clean this beautiful home was - it exceeded our expectations by a mile. The grounds are just breathtaking and the home itself is a retreat by itself. The pictures online are beautiful, but you have to see this place for yourself. Everything was perfect and breakfast was OUTSTANDING! We had a hot, gourmet breakfast cooked for us each morning - so yummy. Thank you to Cindee and Chuck for having us - we are already thinking of when we can come back and stay in the Pine Cone room. Truly a gem! Thanks again.

Our First B & B Experience

5 on June 02, 2010

We stayed in early May 2010 and it was our first experience at any B & B. Our hosts made us comfortable and our room was well furnished, spacious and very clean. I do believe that they have thought of everything down to the one cup coffee brewer. We will be back and are spreading the word to go to Chuck & Cindee's Wind in the Pines. Lynn & Carol

great place

My wife and I have stayed there several times. Chuck and Cindee are the poster faces for great Inn Keepers. Such a beautiful home that is warm and friendly. Close to TC Chick and Cindee will be able to navigate you anywhere you need to go and then some.

Our Fall Color Tour

5 on October 18, 2009

We went to the Traverse City area for our first color tour of northwest Michigan and were fortunate enough to have chosen the Wind in the Pines B&B. Can not say enough about how enjoyable Chuck & Cindee and their accommodations enhanced our visit. We plan on a return trip next year and will definitely be staying with them again!! Angela & Brian

Very Comfortable B&B

Absolutely marvelous

This was my 4th stay at Wind in the Pines! Cindee and Chuck have really perfected the roles of innkeepers --- delicious gourmet breakfasts, helpful suggestions, and wonderful hospitality. The amenities and rooms are great --- free WiFi, refrigerator for guest use, and a common room for playing games, reading or just relaxing. Their location in the woods is an absolutely perfect place to relax after a day of sightseeing, shopping, checking out wineries, etc.

What a great retreat!

My husband and I had a great time at your beautiful Bed and Breakfast. It exceeded our expectations and we would love to come back someday. The cleanliness, hospitality, and peaceful surroundings made our 5 nights wonderful. The breakfasts were all delish! Thanks, Chuck and Cindee for a fantastic week!

Best of the Best!

I, with two girlfriends, stayed at Wind in the Pines August 4-7. Honestly, I thought that probably the pictures on line had been enhanced. They most certainly have not been! The beauty of the grounds, the lovliness and spotlessness of the log house and the three breaksfasts were superb, refreshing and totally delightful. The host, Chuck, and hostess, Cindee were so gracious and fun. I cannot wait to return with my husband! -- Ruth C.

Beautiful Location; Wonderful Hosts

Chuck & Cindee are wonderful hosts. The decor of their B & B is beautiful with a lot of little details that make it an awesome place to stay. You will definitely not leave their B & B hungry. The food and their presentation are great! You can tell that they really enjoy what they do and are very proud of what they've built. If you've never had the pleasure of staying at a B & B before, I would definitely recommend cutting your teeth at the Wind in the Pines. We will definitely recommend their establishment to anyone who will listen.

I'd like to return...

We spent two days there this week ,7-12 & 13. The Moose room was spacious and well appointed. We didn't see much of the grounds, but what we did see was nice. The one breakfast we were able to catch was very good (an early tee time stole the other one from us). It's obvious that the owners love to cook! The rooms are immaculate too. Five stars!!!!

We're Back!!!!

This is the third or fourth time staying at Wind in the Pines. I just love it! Cindee and Chuck are absolutely wonderful. I learn a little more of places to see, things to do and great places to eat at. They are so welcoming and the breakfasts are out of this world!! It is truly an experience that everyone should enjoy. I know I will definitely return . . soon!!! Thanks for a wonderful B & B.

Winter Wonderland Retreat

We were blessed to receive two nights for ourselves and young teen daughter as a gift, and visited Wind in the Pines over New Year's. Everything about our stay was restorative and welcoming. Our hosts Chuck and Cindee had an almost uncanny ability to appear at just the right time, prepared marvelous breakfasts, keep the entire place spotless and inviting inside and out, hosted a fun New Year's Eve for interested guests with snacks and games and good conversation - even sparkling juice for our daughter, who was made to feel special. From excellant restaurants to an absolutely delightful afternoon spent on a sleigh ride right out of Robert Frost's "Stopping By Woods", their recommendations were terrific. We all enjoyed the wildlife habitat - especially the wild turkeys that were meandering around upon our arrival and joined us on a snowshoe hike through the surrounding pines, as well as the pileated woodpecker that entertained us on our last morning. We were sent off with traveling snacks, and arrived home with a voice message informing us that a file inadvertantly left under the bed would be sent out priority the next business day - and that we were missed! We experienced fabulous service from every perspective, and we hope to return!

This was our first stay at this B&B and it will not be our last. All aspects of this place were incredible- quiet, beautiful setting, super clean, spacious rooms, substantial, gourmet breakfasts, comfortable, nicely decorated common areas, gracious, helpful hosts. This is THE place to stay in the T.C. area!

This gem of a B & B was more than I could have ever asked for! Chuck & Cindy gave us our privacy and we were never in want of a single thing. The cleanliness of the place was so refreshing and quite remarkable! It is by far the BEST bed & breakfast we have EVER been too. It is truly a dream home.... Joe & Tiffanie C.

A " GEM " in the Pines

5 on August 11, 2008

In our opinion this was truly a " 5 Star " stay, from the fabulous breakfast each day ,to the hospitality of the Innkeepers and the lodging. we WILL be back. The location was perfect which afforded us the ability to site-see all that we wanted to and also be near some very good recommended restaurants. Chuck & Cindee are very knowledgable and are more than willing to go the extra step to insure an enjoyable stay.

Great B&B, and a Great Value Too

5 on June 01, 2008

Wonderful log home, spacious and spotless rooms, perhaps 3 miles to town but sited in a very peaceful, very beautiful and remote-feeling area. Innkeepers Cindy and Chuck are very knowledgeable and charming people--they gave us accurate and insightful information and recommendations about the area. Also, between Chuck's cooking and Cindy's baking, we didn't have to worry much about lunches. Finally, the attention to detail is awesome, from their newly landscaped gardens to the decor. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This B&B reminded us of some of the best ones we enjoyed in Ireland, and that's saying a lot for an American B&B. Most highly recommended.
