Neahtawanta Inn

1308 Neah Ta Wanta Road , Traverse City, MI 49686-9716 USA (Show map)

The Neahtawanta Inn (Nee-ah-ta-wan-ta) has offered lodging for over 100 years on Old Mission Peninsula. Surrounded by woods and water, the Inn is perched on the shores of Bowers Harbor. After being open to the public as a Bed & Breakfast for the past 36 years, the Neahtawanta Inn is shifting to a collaborative model. We are calling it the Neahtawanta Community Supported Inn (NCSI), to reflect the spirit of cooperation that can be seen in many facets of life, including Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) and Community Supported Music which is happening in some locales. Potential guests will need join as members before making a reservation. Levels of membership will convey different benefits; see our website for details. Members will have the capacity to bring guests, to rent the entire inn for a gathering, use of the kitchen on some occasions, and to participate in spontaneous as well as planned activities through out the year. The purpose of this shift is to build a stronger community atmosphere and increase a sense of belonging and investment in the greater vision of the Inn. The Inn is operated on a philosophy of conservation and respect for the Earth. Yoga classes offered by Sally who has practiced and taught yoga for 40 years.

Where to escape

4.8 on December 07, 2010

Neahtawanta is in a peaceful location on the peninsula, close enough to TC, etc.,yet removed enough to feel a world a way when you're at the B&B. Cozy, homey and the innkeepers are so welcoming, you feel immediately at ease. Breakfasts are great. Innkeepers are happy to give suggestions about which winery or restaurant to visit. Clean rooms. Great location on the water. This is a true "up north" experience.

Very enjoyable experience. This Inn is tucked out of the way of traffic and congestion. Delightful innkeepers, beautiful morning and evening views of Bowers Harbor all at a reasonable rate.
