Sherwood Forest Bed & Breakfast

938 Center Street , Saugatuck, MI 49406 USA (Show map)

This beautiful Victorian home offers inviting elegance in a wooded setting. Hardwood floors, leaded-glass windows, and wraparound porch add to the ideal surroundings. Guest rooms are complete with antiques, cozy wing chairs, private baths, Queen Beds and central air. Three suites available: the 1st reproduces the serenity of the Northwoods as a replica of the inside of a log cabin. It includes a stone-mantle gas fireplace, viewed from either the two-person Jacuzzi or the comfort of the bedroom. The 2nd suite features the same amenities but is decorated in the flair of the late 19th century. Our 3rd suite is our signature Safari Suite. Cathedral ceilings, large bathroom, seating area, and a private deck create the surroundings, but the ambiance is created by authentic African art. One room sports a hand-painted mural that transforms the room into a canopied tree loft and is complemented by a gas fireplace. Breakfast is served each morning featuring such favorites as pecan streusel coffeecake, blueberry buttermilk pancakes, baked french toast or our own special Sherwood hash brown bake topped with a fried egg. During the summer guests can swim in the heated pool adorned with dolphins riding the ocean waves, or walk 1/2 block to a Lake Michigan public beach to enjoy spectacular sunsets. Bicycles are available for exploring the scenic lakeshore. In winter, X-country ski or hike along wooded paths, or visit charming Saugatuck.. Separate cottage with fireplace also available.

Best B&B ... fabulous stay!

5 on August 08, 2017

What a great B&B! The location is within walking distance to Douglas beach and so close to Saugatuck. The innkeepers Jim and Noelene were absolutely wonderful so accommodating to every need and the breakfasts were by far the most delicious I have had at a B&B...the blueberry pancakes are memorable! We stayed in the LogCabin room and the rooms are so quiet and relaxing. Did I mention the wrap around porch and heated pool. I will be going back, the most relaxing stay ever!

I surprised my girlfriend with a trip here on the 3rd weekend of September 2016. We stayed in the Safari Room. Jim & Noelene were great hosts. I cannot say a bad thing about this B&B. I never stayed in a B & B before and was a little reluctant as my girl & I just wanted to have time to ourselves. But they made us feel right at home with a great feel of how much privacy we wanted and when to engage in being the great hosts that they are. This turned out to be one of the most memorable trips I can remember in my life. The town is fabulous and if you get time during the day, check out "Borrowed Time" for a great experience with food, drinks, entertainment and fun. Thank you Jim & Noelene! Hope all is well with you.

Awesome B & B!

My boyfriend and I stayed here for one night this past weekend and we absolutely loved it! We arrived one hour before check in but Nolene was very accommodating and offered us a drink while we waited. She sat with us and went over a map of Douglas and Saugatuck and made recommendations for restaurants/bars/things to do. They lent us beach cruiser bikes that we rode in to downtown Saugatuck (about a 10-15 minute bike ride). The place is located right by the beach but a short ride from downtown Saugatuck. The breakfast was very good! We stayed in the Victorian suite which is a bit pricey (the were limited options since we booked late) but the room and bathroom were huge! We had a good experience and would stay here again.

Innkeeper Response
Thanks so much for taking the time out to write such a nice review for us. It was a pleasure meeting you both and we hope to see you back at Sherwood!!

We have stayed at the Sherwood B&B three times and I am looking forward to another visit soon, we always choose the Victorian Suite when we are there. The room size is larger then some apartments. A fireplace and a jacuzzi tub for two. Thanks Sue and Kieth. See ya soon.

Excellent all the way

We have spent two weekends with Keith and Sue and we plan on many more. The breakfasts are delicious and healthy. The rooms are clean and comfortable. Keith and Sue go out of their way to make you feel welcome and give you all the tools you need to navigate the area.

Great Time

Stayed the Sherwood Forest from June 12 to 15, 2011. Keith & Susan Charak couldn't have been more accommodating. Breakfasts were really good and our Victorian suite was even better tnan we expected. Used the pool several hot days and it was great. Enjoyed Saugatuck/Douglas and especially the fine restaurants. Will try to return soon. Joyce & Stan Grau Fort Thomas, Ky.

We love Sherwood Forest Bed and Breakfast!

My boyfriend and I stayed here last summer. Sherwood Forest B&B created so many wonderful memories for us, we hope to return this summer again. Keith was a fun and informative innkeeper.

October Delight

5 on October 27, 2010

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying at Sherwood Forest B&B for a weekend at the end of October. Most Michigan resort towns have rolled up their sidewalks by this time, but not Saugatuck and Douglas. Everywhere we went it was quite busy. Especially the dinner spot recommended by the Innkeepers, Everyday People Cafe. We will return if for no other reason than to dine at this excellent restaurant again! The best part of the weekend was our time spent at Sherwood Forest. We enjoyed breakfast and pleasant conversation to start each day, and were able to soak in the relaxing atmosphere throughout the day. Our room was beautiful and huge with the fireplace, living area, and jacuzzi. That was also one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful Place

We really enjoyed our stay here. Wish we would have booked for 3 nights instead of just one. Keith was very nice. Room was fantastic, we stayed in the Log Cabin room.

My husband and I have stayed at Sherwood Forest twice now. This B&B is amazing. The location, the rooms, the service, and the amenities are all extraordinary. We highly won't be disappointed.
