Can't wait to return

4.8 on September 09, 2018

Beautiful! We loved our stay, the restaurant was amazing and the neighborhood was an amazing setting for our evening walk. Wish we could have stayed more than one night, next year we will for sure stay longer!

August Stay

5 on September 02, 2018

Enjoyed our stay at the Terrace Inn. Everyone working there was delightful. If we come back to the area, we will stay here again. Loved the ambiance of the old home. Slept well in the bed, that is always a big plus.

A blend of history and the present

4.8 on September 02, 2018

A most enjoyable step back in time where the early 1900’s is still alive. The well maintained original wood work in the main reception area, dining room and throughout is a reminder of the bygone era of the importance of the local lumber industry. There is an outside sitting area at the front and back of the main floor. Creaky wood stairway and hall floors remind the senses of the establishments age. Each room has is own colorful personality. The Bayview Association neighborhood is perfect for a tranquil and visually stimulating walk as you are surrounded by the unique and colorful Victorian style cottages and campus buildings, many of which adorn decorative wooden scrollwork.

Stay at Terrace Inn

Lovely spot on the grounds of the Bay View Association. Very comfortable room; great pizza; front porch is great for people watching!

In the middle of it all

4.0 on August 30, 2018

Fun place to stay in the middle of all the BayView activities.

Wonderful Time!!!

3.8 on August 29, 2018

Out first time there, it was wonderful! Originally we booked a Queen room, and the shower was so small we took advantage of the ability to switch to a larger room with a king bed and bigger bathroom after one evening. Food was good for both breakfast and the one evening we ate in for dinner. Only thing that could have made it more enjoyable for our 3rd floor rooms was an elevator, but we knew going in the older hotel didn't have one. My husband and I got a good laugh out of the way in which the building has settled over the years. Our first room had a very sloped floor. Nice character and a great path from the rear terrace to the private beach area. One suggestion, when making the beds, have the housekeepers not shortsheet the topsheet, people like to be able to pull it up over their shoulders. Would definitely stay again!

Great Place in Petoskey

4.8 on August 29, 2018

Atmosphere is great. The dinning is among the best in the area!

Last stop before Mackinac island

4.0 on August 26, 2018

One night. Nice room on first floor. Front corner room. Noise from fan in lower level (think it was washing facility) ran most of the night. Would pick a different room for next stay. Staff were very nice too. Rate was reasonable.

Great Up North Respite

5 on August 22, 2018

We had a short one night visit at the Terrace Inn, but we were there long enough to know that we will revisit the Terrace Inn. The rooms are clean and comfortable, Friendly service through out the Inn. Good food. All in a lovely location.

Great place to stay

4.6 on August 19, 2018

Everything was great. Regarding on-site dining, we only had breakfast.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review! I know it takes time to do this and it really helps our business to hear from "real" guests that were here..especially being such a unique place! Hope you can coming for dinner some time..it is so good. Take care and remember to book directly to get the BEST PRICE and pick of room! Thanks again from all of us!

We loved our stay and really enjoyed dinner at 1911!

The atmosphere, staff and friendliness of guests is outstanding! The breakfast and menu food are exceptional. Would stay again in a heartbeat ¿¿

First visit

3.2 on August 11, 2018

This was our first time in Norrhern Michigan and the area is absolutely beautiful. We were close enough to visit Mackinac City and the Island and had the opportunity to take day trips to neighboring towns to make the most of our stay. The Terrace Inn has a friendly, helpful staff, amazing food and a comfortable setting to relax after a day of exploring!

Another wonderful stay

4.0 on August 11, 2018

Once again a very helpful, friendly front desk-Ashleigh and Jill. Delicious dinner outside on the terrace. Perfect service from Jennifer. Great buffet breakfast. Love all day coffee and ice water.

Girls day in Petoskey

5 on August 10, 2018

My friend and I went to the Young Americans Monday night We were able to check in at 3:00 and freshen up in our room. Two twins with our own bathroom. Small it adequate. Small flat screen in room to watch which was nice . We were on the third floor-there is no elevator which was not a problem. Breakfast buffet was enjoyable and we loved the dining room. Lots of charm . It’s an older place but has charm and had everything we needed.

Some Time In The Past

4.8 on August 08, 2018

A wonderful adventure back into the past. The Inn was a wonderful place to stay while exploring Petoskey. As we ventured out locals would ask where we were staying and when we told the the Terrace Inn they all indicated we made a great choice...and needless to say they all suggested we try the planked white fish. How lucky were we to be there on Pizza Sunday/Monday and have the opportunity to have the white fish. Both were extraordinary (and our breakfasts were special too). Our room was quaint, comfortable and antiques were awesome. Thanks Terrace Inn & 1911 Restaurant team you made our stay most enjoyable and we will be back for sure.....

great place to stay when visiing Bay View

4.4 on August 06, 2018

We were visiting Bay View and the Terrace Inn was very convenient and at a better value that commercial hotels.

Great place and friendly staff!

4.0 on August 06, 2018

The only comment I have would be to make sure when someone checks in you tell them how to get drinks and appetizers at happy hour (by going to the end window in the dining hall) and also about the Bay View pool/beach area. We had to ask another guest who we saw with drinks and an appetizer on the deck area. then someone asked us!...but all in all we really enjoyed it and would definitely stay again. P.S. I think I heard 1920's phonograph music in our bathroom at 2am...thought it was quiet time! LOL

A Pleasant Journey Back In Time

4.0 on August 01, 2018

Truly a step back in time. This quaint and lovely inn is an experience we won't soon forget. And the "Planked White Fish" was the best fish I've had in a very long time. Oh yes, the Pizza wasn't bad either, Sunday and Monday Pizza nights seemed to be a community favorite. When we were asked where we stayed by local residents they always had a warm smile and said oh yes you picked a great place to stay and they have the best planked white fish and pizza in all of northern Michigan. We didn't have the pleasure of meeting Patty & Mo but here's to your continued success and outstanding Michigan hospitality.

Outstanding Breakfast

3.4 on July 31, 2018

Really enjoyed the breakfast both mornings. Also other guests were friendly and it was nice to visit with them on the porch.

Relaxing historic charm

4.4 on July 31, 2018

Our stay was very inviting and welcoming, from the staff to the other guests who sat out on the porches and talked with one another. Breakfast each morning was amazing and delicious. We will definitely go back.

Weekend at Terrace Inn

3.6 on July 25, 2018

Pillows were less than satisfactory; however, next morning requested new pillows & they were perfect! Missed those wonderful muffins we used to have at breakfast.

Wonderful Inn in a charming neighborhood

4.4 on July 23, 2018

Had a wonderful stay for a few days. Always a lovely neighborhood to walk at anytime of the day.

Friendly but not so clean

2.6 on July 09, 2018

Was really disappointed considering the cost to stay here. The room was very small but expected that, the lack of cleanliness was very upsetting! Our bathroom had left over makeup powder on shelf below the mirror and the shelf on wall was very dusty. The dresser the television rests on had so much dust that when you brushed your finger across you had a ball of dust on it. The sheets were very old with holes and the beds were very hard. I realize it is an old historical place but really needs some updating for the high cost to stay there! The staff was great and very pleasant. Would not stay again or recommend. I have stayed in old historical hotel that were kept in pristine condition!

2nd visit as good as the first!

5 on June 15, 2018

The staff is so helpful and friendly-no problem accommodating our travel schedule. The breakfast is delicious!

A great get a way.

5 on June 08, 2018

Petoskey is a 3.5 hour drive, just far/close enough for a short get a way. We loved facility and it's old world charm. The owners were very helpful. The dining room was not yet open for the season, but our breakfast was wonderful. We will be back.

Wonderful stay!!

5 on March 12, 2018

Once again we had a great weekend at the Terrace Inn. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming! We love renting out the garden apartment. We also enjoy dining at 1911, the food is always amazing, there’s really no need to venture out. Looking forward to our stay next February!

Love the Terrace Inn

4.6 on March 05, 2018

Love the Terrace Inn. Belinda is outstanding at welcoming guests.

Overnight stay

3.6 on March 04, 2018

We chose to stay at the Terrace in due to the cost; it was the least expensive option for the quality. The hotel was very quaint and appealed to the history-lover in me. We liked that the rooms had individual keys and their own unique style. We were just in town for one night, so we did not take advantage of the restaurant. We had a pleasant stay and the staff was very friendly.

An amazing weekend

4.8 on February 19, 2018

We truly had a remarkable stay. Felt at home the moment we walked in. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and always went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Even as guests, the fellow guests were equally as friendly and welcoming. We truly loved our stay and have already booked a second.

Cute getaway destination

3.8 on February 15, 2018

My partner and I stayed for one night to get away from our town and celebrate our 5 year anniversary together. The rooms were clean and cozy, the staff was more than helpful, there was complementary coffee, and the best continental breakfast I have never had. The owner himself makes the drinks, which are also pretty good. My only complaint is that you can hear everything that the people in neighboring rooms are doing.

5 on February 05, 2018

We stay here every time we go north. We love the staff, the service and the atmosphere.

Great stay

4.8 on January 05, 2018

The staff was very welcoming and friendly. The rooms were quaint and very clean and comfortable. We were there for NYE and the dinner and entertainment were very good. The bitter cold made outdoor activities hard but the warmth of the Inn made it a great get away.

Wonderful New Year's Eve!

4.6 on January 05, 2018

Charming, clean, friendly staff, great restaurant, magical setting.

Great Place

4.8 on January 03, 2018

Love the Terrace Inn. Very clean and friendly staff. Located in an amazing neighborhood.

Great place to getaway and relax!

4.6 on November 14, 2017

If you’re in the Petoskey area this is a must place to stay! Beautiful property, wonderful food and the staff, amazing! Thank~you Terrace Inn we will return¿¿

Perfect little getaway!

5 on November 05, 2017

My husband and had never been to Petoskey so we went on a little one night road trip October 30th and stayed at the Terrace Inn. I felt "at home" the second I walked in the door. The inn is so cute, so charming and so relaxing. We weren't able to try out the dinner menu because the restaurant was closed during the week (we just missed the last pizza night). Even so, that was ok because it allowed us to try out other area restaurants. Belinda at the desk was so sweet when we got there and directed us about town. Since we only had one night, we were sad to leave so we booked the Thanksgiving package while we were checking out! We can't wait to go back .... Even got to pick out our room already. This is my new favorite place!!!! Dawn and Matt Mancina

What a gem!

Terrace Inn Bed & Breakfast

5 on October 30, 2017

My wife and I have stayed here several times in the fast five or six years. It is always a pleasure to stay here. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The food is good. The Inn is quite old and has been reported to be haunted. We have never experienced any hauntings here, but it wouldn't bother us if we did. If you visit Petoskey, you should spend at least one night here to experience the beauty of this historic Inn. Two thumbs up!

Fall visit

4.8 on October 27, 2017

We stayed in one of the smaller (cheaper) rooms and it was comfortable but too small, especially the bathroom. However, I'm sure that a larger room would have been fine and we will stay in one next time. The hotel is charming and in the lovely Bay View association which makes for great walks. We did not have dinner in the dining room but the buffet breakfast was very good. The staff was friendly and helpful. Be aware that there is no elevator!

Always relaxing and welcoming, beautiful area

4.8 on October 26, 2017

Great place for a getaway, very homey and relaxing Delicious breakfast

Back in Time

5 on October 26, 2017

What could be better? A lovely stay in an old inn which has preserved its history, staffed by charming people and owners on-site to greet and add to one's comfort, and a wonderful breakfast buffet all for a price well under the typical commercial hotel.

Great Victorian aplace

4.8 on October 24, 2017

Love this place.....rooms can be a little bit on the small side but some are larger and all are really cute, quaint and comfortable. Dining room is amazing....great food either for dinner or the breakfast provided everyday! Have been here many times and plan on more visits!

October dreaming

4.4 on October 21, 2017

Character, charm, comfort, unique and peaceful setting. Breakfast great!

The dog-friendly Garden Apartment

5 on October 20, 2017

This was our second stay in the dog-friendly Garden Apartment. It's comfortable and spacious and includes a small kitchen. We (and our dog) love it. One note for those who go to bed very early: this room is under the restaurant, so you may hear some footsteps and chairs scraping the floor above your head in the evening. But the restaurant closes at 9:00 and the clean-up has always concluded by 10:00, so we haven't minded that. We hope to stay here again next year.

Fall Fun at the Terrace Inn

5 on October 19, 2017

We have stayed there a few times now and absolutely love this old Inn. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasant place to stay. Great value for the money.

Great Old Fashioned and Quaint Place

5 on October 12, 2017

Rooms can be a little on the small side but besides that they are so cute, with. Sry friendly and helpful staff, continental breakfast is great and they have dinner options also! Have frequented this place many times and plan on going again.....love it!

5 on October 10, 2017

My wife and I stayed here two nights. I can not say enough positive things about the Inn and their staff. We felt like we were in a Lavish B&B in England. The grounds and community around the Inn was very quiet and inviting. The morning breakfast was a FULL breakfast not just cereal and fruit.Rooms where spacious and clean, as well as the rest of the Inn. Plan on relaxing on porch overlooking the lake. Again a wonderful stay.

Wonderful inn! One of our favorite!

5 on October 10, 2017

The room was huge, with a very large bathroom and a Jacuzzi tub. The owner, Mo, took the time to speak to us about his inn and how he obtained all the interesting historic items inside.

Cute B&B

5 on October 10, 2017

Don't be fooled by all the steps you see on the postcards. You drive up a hill and enter on the main floor. I loved my corner room. Both breakfast and dinner were so good! Sunday night is pizza night, so no special dinners that night. You can walk around the quiet neighborhood for exercise.

Great Historic landmark

4.8 on October 09, 2017

Its nice to stay at a vintage hotel that's kept its charm. Most of today's hotels are like fast food restaurants, if you seen one you have seen them all. There is no sense of busyness here. Relax in a quiet environment surrounded by 100 year old houses with mature trees. It is located off the main highway so you don't hears traffic and the hot breakfast included with the room rate is a step up from what most hotels offer.

A great place to relax

5 on October 09, 2017

The staff is very helpful and friendly. Each room is different! Like how the doors to the rooms not in use are open so you can pick a different room for your next stay. The food in the 1911 Restaurant is very good!

Great Few Days in Petoskey

5 on October 06, 2017

My wife and I stayed for four nights at the Terrace Inn in Petoskey, MI. This was our second stay at the Terrace Inn. We have found that the atmosphere here is "homey" and just feels like a relaxed and informal place to stay. You are off the main streets so it is quiet and it really feels more like you are staying in a home. The common seating areas provide a great opportunity to meet other guests and hear their stories. We had a great time here!

Great place

5 on October 04, 2017

Love how the staff made you feel at home. Everything about our stay was great. We will be back!

Wonderful romantic getaway

5 on October 04, 2017

My husband and I stayed here one night before a conference and enjoyed every minute of it. The staff were friendly and helpful, the atmosphere was relaxed and quiet, and the neighborhood was a beautiful place to walk off a delicious breakfast. We will be back!

Awesome Old Inn

4.0 on October 03, 2017

I love this inn. It's old and creaky and there's no elevator. There may be some ghosts here but we didn't see any. The area is so beautiful, I loved everything about it. Step back in time and stay at a great inn.

We love this inn and will be back again!

5 on October 01, 2017

We stayed in a large suite-type room. We loved the room, the food, and especially the customer service. Mo, the owner, even took time to speak with us. We definitely will return to the same room in the future!

Great place to stay in Petoskey!

4.4 on September 29, 2017

We had a wonderful time and loved it here! Our room was kind of small, so I think I'll try for a bigger room next time, but we really didn't spend much time in there anyway. The lobby and porch were so inviting that we spent most of our time there. Breakfast was delicious too. Belinda and all of the staff provided amazing customer service and we had a fabulous time. We will be back!

historical gem

4.4 on September 27, 2017

This is a special experience set in a historical setting. A mix between a boutique hotel and the house that is a b&b. All the Victorian cottages (400 +) in the Bay View Association combined with the various buildings create a lovely neighborhood to walk around an enjoy. The breakfast was great and the scones the best I've ever had. In good weather eating on the porch is enchanting.

Would Stay Again

4.8 on September 25, 2017

We only stayed at the Terrance Inn one night after we returned from a wedding reception, so our time/experience there was limited, but the room was very clean, the staff was friendly, and the breakfast the next morning was delicious. I would stay there again.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! We are glad you chose the Inn to come back to after the wedding. Maybe you can stay a little longer next time. So glad you had a brief but nice stay!

The Best Stay Ever!

4.2 on September 20, 2017

The Inn is like a step back in time, which allows for one to unwind and relax. We enjoy it because it's quaint, quiet, and unique in its ambience. It's well worth the price; with its free breakfast, free parking, free coffee, and free adventure advice. Yet, most of all, it's a place that welcomes any weary traveler and does its very best to accommodate them.

Short But Pleasant Stay

3.0 on September 20, 2017

The Terrace Inn is a beautiful place in a wonderful setting. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was delicious. There was an odd religious book in my room for some reason, but the room otherwise was cozy and cool during the recent heatwave. Shower had warm water, the bed was comfortable and the t.v. had the woeful Tigers on so I couldn't ask fro much more.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! I'm glad you found your stay comfortable and staff friendly. We sometimes leave books in the rooms the guests leave..but maybe should take them out. We have a big library of books to choose from and never know where they end up. We hope you consider a future stay at the TI!

- Patty/Owner (innkeeper)

What a treat this place is!!

5 on September 18, 2017

The Terrace Inn is such a gem. Wonderful and delicious. The rooms are clean and well decorated. The breakfast is delicious.

Charming, vintage inn

4.4 on September 14, 2017

I have stayed at the Terrace Inn at least 7 times and I love it there. Charmingly vintage, each room is different and reflects the beautiful Bayview area. I have only eaten breakfast at the Inn therefore I can't speak for the 1911 Restaurant dinners. Wonderful place to stay in the heart of "up north" Michigan.

Didn't want to leave!

5 on September 14, 2017

Stayed here for two nights - in town for a wedding. Loved it bc it wasn't so "perfect" - not a snooty grand old hotel, just a lovely old inn. Place was old but CLEAN (and we've stayed in other places that are old but mildewy..lol). Room was spacious, bed was super comfy, front desk and dining rm staff were really friendly and helpful. Didn't get to eat dinner there but breakfast buffet was REALLY good - and several of the items were gluten-free. Location is great - in an old Methodist "campground" neighborhood, full of cool old houses. Beautiful porches, walkway to the beach. The hotel was full the weekend we were there, but you wouldn't have known it - quiet and peaceful.

Terrace Inn September 2017

3.2 on September 12, 2017

We got the one of the least expensive rooms. It was quite small, but adequate. Main thing was, it was on the first floor. My bad knees couldn't have navigated the steps. The house next door was being reroofed, so it was quite noisy during the day, but tolerable. Breakfast was quite good for me as the fruit was fresh and the scones tasty. We went elsewhere for dinner as the limited menu was quite expensive for our tastes. We enjoyed our stay, but probably will not return.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were there during the neighbors roofing project. That probably won't happen for another 30 years! just the same..it wasn't as enjoyable. We have larger rooms on the main floor should you change your mind.

Perfect sisters get away

5 on September 07, 2017

We had a lovely sisters weekend. Plenty of atmosphere and service was excellent. Breakfast on the terrace is perfect way to start the day.

Lovely anniversary

4.4 on September 04, 2017

Enjoyed our annual stay. Staff remembered us from m previous stays and made our anniversary a special one. Live music during dinner was a bonus. Thank you for a nice time.

Petoskey Perfect

4.8 on September 04, 2017

While attending an out-of-town wedding, we booked our stay at the Terrace Inn. Wow! We had a wonderful time at the wedding but more importantly our stay was an extension of a most perfect weekend. The front desk lady, Belinda, was more than accommodating - it was like we were guests in her home. Definitely would highly recommend the Terrace Inn to all.

Weekend getaway

4.6 on August 31, 2017

We stayed in Petoskey the weekend of August 27th. The hotel staff was great and let us check in early. Our room was one of the cleanest hotel/ B&B rooms I've stayed at. Breakfast was provided both mornings. It was good however I would've appreciated something different from day one to day two. It was all the same and I didn't really want to eat the exact same thing two days in a row, we ended up going out instead. All in all we enjoyed our stay. It's a gorgeous area and walking distance to the lake!

Perfect Sisters Weekend

5 on August 27, 2017

Terrace Inn is a grand old lady, lots of charm, excellent service, and very good food. Breakfast on the porch is a perfect way to start the day - morning walk among lovely gardens and picturesque old homes - explore the downtown and surrounding areas - - return to dine (don't pass up the whitefish or the walleye) and watch the sun go down.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you ladies for visiting and for such a poetic review! Wow!..it sounds like you really took in all the ambience surrounding the Inn as well as the downtown and our restaurant! I hope you have lots of great memories of your time together!

3.6 on August 24, 2017

This hotel is right in the center of things in Bay View. It is a bit shabby, but not in a bad way. The hotel just shows its age (as it should). The carpets are worn but the place is immaculate. The walls are paper thin, so be aware that your neighbor's TV, sneezes and other noises will be heard loud and clear. Still, quaint place and the staff are very kind.

Dining here was the best!

4.2 on August 21, 2017

We went here for our 25th Anniversary and had dinner there our first night. We ate on the back porch and they had wonderful music played on guiter. Our food was very good. I had the lamb chops and my husband had the filet. Our room was smaller than we would have liked but the service was great and we loved our stay at the Terrace Inn.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! I'm so glad that you enjoyed your stay and your dinner! and the guitar music. We look forward to your return. FYI..make sure you have a loyalty card initialed toward a free stay.

A delightful B&B

4.0 on August 19, 2017

We started staying at the Terrace Inn 8-10 years ago and it is the only lodging we consider when we visit the Petoskey area. The food is very good, rooms are very clean, and an eclectic mix. We have never had a surly staff member to deal with, they are always cheerful and helpful. All in all a relaxing place to be.

A Gem by Lake Michigan

4.0 on August 17, 2017

We needed a place to stay while attending a wedding. Wanted more than a rectangular room with a door that opens to the outside - we wanted charm and relaxation. The breakfast and dinners were great and to have the choice of eating in or on the terrace was a plus; we chose the terrace! We will definitely and happily go back again.

Amazing, can't wait to return!

5 on August 15, 2017

We enjoyed everything about our stay! Cute rooms, great hot breakfast! We will definitely be back!

The devil is in the details

4.2 on August 09, 2017

We have stayed at the Terrace Inn on numerous occasions. The rooms and the service are fabulous. Our only observation is perhaps an employee can straighten out the porch upon opening and periodically during the day. As you know, many guests sit out there and move the furniture around to suit their needs. At the end of the day, it would be nice if the porch was made to look more inviting to that day's guests.

Second visit

4.8 on August 08, 2017

Had dinner at the 1911 Dining Room this time. Food was delicious. Only complaint was the servings were so large we hardly had room for the yummy dessert.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review. I guess I would rather the portions be generous than skimpy! you can always take some home! Sorry you didn't have room for the chocolate torte but I totally understand!

- Patty/Owner (innkeeper)

charming and cute

3.4 on August 08, 2017

historical B&B by all means...built in 1911; clean and well kept of its early century charm. Resturrant on the terrance was very good in service, atmosphere and taste!

Never staying at a hotel again

5 on July 27, 2017

I instantly fell in love with this Inn and it's location. The staff was personable and made you feel like a family member vs a guest. The food at the 1911 Restaurant was fantastic. I'm looking forward to staying at the Inn again.

Excellent Stay

Wonderful time spent at Terrace Inn.

Loved the charm of the Terrace Inn, Beautifully tucked away in Bay View. Clean, comfortable room and delicious dining.

Great value and ambiance for the money.

4.4 on July 24, 2017

Dinner was outstanding. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and tasty but we prefer hot oatmeal with raisins, nuts etc and plain yogurt in the morning. After there for a couple of days we learned that the eggs could be cooked to order but we were not told that information up front. All in all it was good but if we were to return and stay longer than 2 days, I will bring my own oatmeal and fixings. The beds were comfortable and rooms adequately appointed. The staff was very courteous and helpful. Feels like a step back in time. Internet pictures do not do the place justice. So relaxing. We really enjoyed our stay there and would return in a heartbeat.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! We are glad you enjoyed your experience overall. I understand about the breakfast and trying to find a way to meet those who prefer oatmeal and plain yogurt (getting plain yogurt is easy)...we don't like instant oatmeal..but don't have time to cook a batch from scratch. If you know of a good product that would work, let us know. Also we have the granola (or we were out?) that can be great with milk and eaten warm.

Very large room!

3.2 on July 22, 2017

Had a nice night at the Terrace Inn. Stayed in room 100 and the whirlpool tub was nice and clean. We did not eat at the restaurant, aside from breakfast (we're vegan, not much offered, but we knew that going in). Some quirky things about the Inn, that made us chuckle - weird memorabilia in odd places and half-thought out decorating. But none of that took away from our stay.

Weekend stay

3.6 on July 20, 2017

Room was small and bed just so-so comfortable. Chairs in room were not very comfortable to sit in, so to read-was best to sit in the chairs in the lobby. This was a huge problem on our second evening as there was a wedding-so no service in the dining room and no sitting in the lobby or porch-also very noisy then in our room. We had planned on a relaxing stay, but the second night was far from that-make sure you check to see if a wedding reception is being held when booking. We were not offered any discount or any deal on a future stay which was quite disappointing considering we did not get what we paid for the second evening/night.

A charming historic inn in a peaceful, picturesque setting. Gracious common areas and comfortable rooms. Outstanding front desk staff. Delicious breakfasts and a lovely evening dining experience. Easy drives for day trips to Traverse City and Mackinaw Island.

Somewhat disappointed with our stay

3.8 on July 15, 2017

This is our absolutely favorite place to stay when in Petoskey. The ambiance is incredible - relaxing, refreshing, welcoming, etc. We did experience one drawback this year.. We especially enjoy dining outside for breakfast; but were unable to do this because several dead bugs resided on the paper tablecloths. The dining staff needs to insure that all areas are clean and inviting for guests. This will definitely determine whether we book reservations in the future.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for bringing the bugs on the morning tables outside to our attention. I talked to the breakfast staff and front desk staff and they were right on it. They just had so much to do they forgot about those outside tables. It was an easy fix. Thank you again!

We had a wonderful stay at Terrace Inn. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and we would be sure to put it on the list of places to return. The breakfast was outstanding; our compliments to the chef.

4.2 on June 11, 2017

Loved taking a trip up north just to relax for a few days and the Terrace Inn was the perfect answer. Room was clean and suited our needs. Breakfast was more than adequate, although I would like to see less greasy dishes and more of the just basic good food. Eggs do not need to be compromised with cheese and then more of the same with the shredded potatoes which again had all this cheese. Waffles were a nice touch as well as the fresh fruit. Lots of things to do in this charming little town and we will most certainly will be back in the fall.

Stayed here one night in mid-May as part of our 35th wedding anniversary celebration on our way to the Grand Hotel..

One of my favorite places!!

5 on May 19, 2017

I absolutely LOVE this inn. I write this review with some apprehension as I really do not want people to discover this treasure nestled in the community of Bay View. The owners, innkeeper, chef and housekeeping staff are amazing! We visit the T.I. about 2-3 times a year and am NEVER disappointed. A happy guest

Room 215

4.6 on January 24, 2017

Extremely pleased with this hidden gem. Although the rooms (ceilings) are thin and adjacent noise is easily heard, they are very charming, clean and comfortable. The surprise (to me) was the restaurant. Very good food from salad to dessert and service was even better. Felt welcomed and very comfortable there. Great place for an anniversary or weekend get-away..

The Terrace Inn, A beautiful getaway

3.8 on January 04, 2017

The staff at the Terrace inn was extremely welcoming and friendly. The Inn is homey, cozy, and has a lot of interesting history. The first room we stayed in had a broken toilet and they quickly moved us to an even larger room with a huge bathroom and whirlpool. Overall, the stay was wonderful. I plan to revisit this location.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review! I'm sorry about the broken toilet..we are going through every single room this fall and fixing everything we can. It is hard to keep up with but I'm glad we could switch you to another room. We appreciate your understanding!

- Patty (innkeeper)

Great place

Quite and quaint with friendly staff and tasty breakfast but paper thin walls.

Great old place, outstanding service

4.8 on October 31, 2016

This is such a beautiful old building. Keep in mind, being so old, there are many things you expect in newer motels, this will not have or will be different, but that's part of the charm. There is no elevator, but they're more than willing to help get luggage to your room. The service is great, if you need anything ask, they'll take care of you. I've been back several times, look forward to going again soon.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind and honest review! We look forward to your return!

What a gem

3.8 on October 24, 2016

Our second stay turned out even better than our first. Everyone is so warm and attentive, the rooms are comfortable and relaxed and the neighborhood is quiet and charming. The bartender brought us drinks and appetizers as we sat by the fireplace in the living room and it was nearly heaven. We will definitely be back again.

My superb stay!!

Great Hotel of History!

5 on October 22, 2016

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Terrace Inn. The staff is awesome (especially Belinda) she was so helpful and always pleasant. The hotel is very clean and the morning breakfast is top notch. You won't go away hungry! Situated close to downtown Petoskey and about a half hour away from the "Tunnel of Trees " and Legs Inn. If you like history this is a must stay.

Loved the Terrace Inn

4.6 on October 18, 2016

We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Terrace Inn. We had come to Petoskey to see the colors. The owner had called me personally to inform me that they had a large group coming in on Friday night, but that it would not interfere with our stay at all, but she wanted to make me aware. I really appreciated that. On Thursday night we had pizza from the restaurant that was superb! Breakfast was wonderful as well. Great variety offered. We will be back!!

Place has charm

3.2 on October 14, 2016

Our room was so tiny, you could barely get around the bed. You can hear your neighbors conversations literally theough the walls, however the place itself holds a lot of charm and the caretakers go out of their way to make it a very pleasant stay. Always there to answer your questions. Fresh coffee, tea and hot chocolate available. I've stayed here before and would stay again

5 on October 13, 2016

I have stayed here in the past and will definitely stay here many more times.....love it! The owners and front desk staff couldn't be friendlier....always meet other guests either in the dining room or wonderful front lobby which has a great fireplace with a roaring fire during cooler months! It would be great if they had an outdoor fire pit out front....or is it the back for guests to enjoy at night time! Highly recommend the Terrace Inn!

Great place to Stay.

5 on October 12, 2016

Stayed at the Terrace Inn for a weekend getaway. I have stayed here before and as usual the Inn and room was well kept, and all of the staff are helpful and friendly.Had dinner in the dining room one evening and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend The Terrace Inn to anyone who enjoys staying at Bed and Breakfasts rather than the usual cookie cutter hotels that speak of cleanliness and great service but rarely deliver. I WILL be back!

Great experience at the Terrace Inn

4.4 on October 09, 2016

Perfect Romantic Retreat

4.6 on August 23, 2016

My boyfriend and I stayed at The Terrace Inn for just one night after attending a local wedding. I begged him to extend our trip so we could stay longer! We were in the Stargazer suite, which was incredible. The beds were comfortable, the double shower solved an age old dispute of what temperature the water should be, and the stars enticed a late night conversation that made my heart swell. All of the staff were such a joy, and the hotel was breathtaking. I dropped several hints about hosting our wedding here in the future! The surrounding are is absolutely breathtaking and worth an early morning stroll. We will definitely be back as soon as possible!

Our Anniversary Weekend away

5 on August 11, 2016

We like to stay at a different Bed a Breakfasts across the state for our anniversary. This year it was Petoskey and I am pleased to say we chose The Terrace Inn. Our stay was impeccable. The room was more than adequate, Breakfast was exceptional. We were not able to dine in, which I hear is a highlight, due to a wedding. However the wedding made the stay even more fun. The Desk Manager Belinda was beyond expectation. Service was awesome. She knew it was our anniversary, because the bar was focused on the wedding, she went above and beyond to get us a bottle of wine to celebrate our anniversary on the Terrace. Belinda, you are awesome! The Terrace Inn is a great stay and we will certainly return!

Also love the location and the views!

Another amazing visit

5 on August 05, 2016

My daughter and I had another amazing trip to the Terrace Inn to meet with staff regarding plans for my daughter's wedding in September. Mo and Chef Zak spoiled us with a selection of chicken dishes and appetizers so we could choose our favorites for the reception menu. All of it was amazing but we especially loved the chicken piccata and stuffed mushrooms. Can't wait to eat it again on the wedding day !!!!! Patty was so gracious and spent time showing us all of the options for using the beautiful antiques available at the inn for the reception. She gave us so many great ideas and made it very fun. You can tell that she is truly excited for us and loves her job. I can't forget to thank Belinda for arranging all of this for us....you are a delight to work with. Thanks again Terrace Inn for another amazing experience. Marty and Cara

Charming, historic spot just off the lake. We loved it.

Charming but thin walls.

4.2 on July 08, 2016

This is second time my husband and I have stayed here. The first time we were on top floor but as there is no elevator we chose the second floor this time. We don't recommend the second floor. We could hear every step above us (& much more unfortunately). And we could hear the neighbor snoring. We were thankful for the loud a/c unit kicking on and off. The rooms are charming and very clean. The bed was very comfortable even after 3 nights. Owners and staff are helpful and pleasant. Great breakfast provided.

Favorite place to stay overnight in Patoskey!

4.6 on July 06, 2016

The Terrace Inn is a very quaint and lovely place. The rooms are beautiful....not your usual contemporary hotel room. The staff is extremely friendly, rooms very clean, continental breakfast is delicious! There is also dining available which although I haven't tried I am sure it is as good as breakfast....and there is a bar too! It is located within the BayView area of old Victorian homes.....just a great place any way you look at it.

Great Gem

4.6 on July 05, 2016

The Terrace Inn was a little gem of a place. It was so convenient to the Hall venue. I would recommend this place, tucked away in a beautiful area. The room was lovely, just missing soap in the bathroom! It was just an oversight of the cleaning person. No problem. I would definitely stay there again.

Great Experience

3.8 on July 02, 2016

Have stayed twice for anniversary. Rooms are quaint clean and brings you back to a simpler time. Food has been excellent with special attending of waiter. Never hurried and very special.

Felt like staying at a cozy cottage!

4.0 on June 22, 2016

Second time staying here and was great just like my first stay. The breakfast was my favorite part. The staff is friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that having an adjoined room made it feel like I was sharing a room with my neighbor. I could here everything they said as if they were in our room. But that is to be expected in an old inn where the walls aren't as thick as they are in hotels these days. I would definitely still go back though! Beautiful views!

Not a hotel, not a bed and breakfast.....the perfect mix of the two

3.8 on June 04, 2016

Superb location nestled in an historic neighborhood that oozes charm. The Inn was old fashioned but didn't feel "grandmotherly" old. Courteous staff (and present but not hovering owners) did everything possible to help us feel right at home.We look forward to future stays at the Inn and strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys something out of the ordinary..

Great Weekend Getaway

4.6 on May 31, 2016

Brought my girlfriend up to the Terrace Inn and 1911 Restaurant for a nice weekend getaway "up north" away from Grand Rapids. We were thoroughly pleased the moment we walked in to the building, enjoyed the charm of it all, and namely the rustic / elegant feel of it all. Actually proposed over the weekend, so this place will always hold a special place in our hearts!

Charming B & B

4.8 on April 20, 2016

After agreeing to stay at the Terrace Inn over a chilly spring break, I was happily surprised by the unique accommodations. Each room has its own antique design. It felt like I stepped back in time. The rooms were spotless too. I had no qualms about walking around barefoot. One small issue was that the bathroom was small, but the place was built in 1911 so the smaller rooms will have smaller bathrooms. The staff was amazing and went out of their way to make us comfortable. As I was sitting near the fireplace, one staff member noticed and started a fire for me. Talk about great ambience! The breakfast was not the shoddy continental type you'd find at a chain hotel. Everything was homemade and delicious! The Terrace Inn is also very close to shopping in downtown Petoskey, plus the area is gorgeous between Lake Michigan and the large summer homes that cover the landscape. I cannot say enough how wonderful the staff was and how beautiful the Terrace Inn really is. STAY HERE! You won't regret it.

Innkeeper Response

We hope you can return when things are a little more exciting..but glad you got away to relax and visit Petoskey!

Absolutely wonderful!

5 on February 26, 2016

This was our 4th time staying at the Inn. It was just as wonderful as our previous visits. We had dinner at 1911 and it was delicious. I can't say enough about the great service, the owners are very friendly and involved in making sure everyone's stay is top notch. Belinda, the lady that works at the front desk was great! So friendly and helpful! We will definitely be back!

Innkeeper Response
Oh...thank you!..so sweet to take the time to provide this review! So happy you felt special because YOU ARE!..hopefully you started a frequent friend of the Inn card towards a free stay..if not..just ask and we will catch you up on your stays over the past year. Very relaxing

4.4 on January 24, 2016

My husband and I always go on a weekend getaway. This year we tried something new. Normally we stay at an updated and modern hotel. This time I wanted some charm. So we tried the inn. I love it. Belinda is amazing at the front desk. The hotel is cozy, quiet, and a perfect getaway. We did the dinner and a sleigh ride and loved both. The weekend was one of the most relaxing we have had.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! I know this place is different and you took a chance not knowing what to expect. We are so happy you enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere dinner and sleigh ride. Belinda is a jewel of any employee and we are thankful for her heart for hospitality and true caring for our guests. Thank you for your business!

Great Place to Stay!

4.4 on December 20, 2015

The apartment room was very nice. We checked out the other rooms of the Inn and were impressed with them as well. Some of the service was a little slow, but since it was off season and there were very few people at the hotel that is to be expected. The Inn really needs a bell at the reception area!! There was a person that worked there that we were very impressed with. Very friendly and service orientated. The restaurant food was very good. Loved the breakfast!! The best restaurant breakfast food we have had in a long time! The dinner was good as well. I liked how the food was presented. I think my only complaint with the food was the quality of the steak. For the price we expected more. Although not the quality I expected the chef did a great job cooking it. If you are looking for a quite retreat to stay in then this is place to go.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. We appreciate your taking the time and also your honesty. As a result we have upgraded our steak from sirloin to bistro filet without increasing the price. I talked to Belinda about making sure the bell is out when she is not right there at the desk or we also have a wireless intercom. We sometimes forget to do that, Thanks for the reminder! Our service is usually good, unless we got the reservations too close together. Of course it is hard to find seasonal help so sometimes we are stretched thin. I apologize for that. Thank you again!

Thanksgiving Weekend

4.8 on December 13, 2015

We stayed there for Thanksgiving Weekend. Had an awesome stay. The owners and staff were so friendly and welcoming. Thanksgiving Dinner was included in our package and it was very good. Loved the Inn, was like taking a step back in time. Very relaxing. We booked ourselves already for next Thanksgiving. A great place to unwind, regroup and relax.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! We are excited that you enjoyed your Thanksgiving stay. We try to make sure guests feel valued and more like family. It felt very special because of you. We look forward to seeing you next Thanksgiving if not sooner!

Just Never Long Enough at Terrace Inn

4.2 on November 29, 2015

My fiancé and I only had time for a quick get-away, without thinking twice about what we needed for this short time together, I booked a room at Terrace Inn and 1911 Restaurant. Upon our arrival, our room was all warmed up, and the fireplace was rolling. We had such peace and quiet, a very comfy king-size bed with crisp, clean-smelling bedding. We never had to leave this heavenly Inn the entire time we were there because everything we needed was generously provided. We had dinner and breakfast in the 1911 restaurant, and were extremely pleased with our food choices. Our meals were beyond delicious! Our stay was extraordinarily restful and relaxing. The staff (Belinda, the chef, and our waiter) were more than happy to accommodate our every need; their friendliness and professionalism is commendable. We stayed at the Inn five years ago when we first started dating, and we chose to celebrate our five years (became engaged in the summer of 2015) here because we knew we could count on having a wonderful time, even as short as our stay was, we will be back again soon, however, as I stated in the title of my review, the time here is NEVER long enough. The history of this establishment alone, just keeps us wanting to return time and again!

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! We appreciate the time you took to share that because it helps us more than any other kind of advertising. Thank you for letting me know about the great service you received from our staff. We are really happy with them. It is hard to find staff that care as much as you do yourself and they truly do care. We will look forward to your return!

We just got home from 3 days and 2 nights stay at the Terrace Inn. To say the least we had absolutely the best stay ever. So much so we've already booked our room for next Thanksgiving. Mo and Patti are amazing Host/Hostess. From the minute we walked in, Patti greeted us at the door to welcome us. Personally showed us our room and asked if we wanted anything. From that minute on until the minute Belinda walked us out was truly the best mini vacation we've ever had. We booked the Thanksgiving Dinner special and the food was really good. Friday, they put up their Big Christmas Tree and all the guest were helping. Breakfast each morning while simple was good and hot. At night, we sat by the fireplace and just enjoyed the relaxing feeling. It was like taking a step back in time. All of the Staff were great and Belinda was so friendly and always had kind words to say to me in helping me through a rough time. It felt more like visiting family than visiting a "hotel". We can't wait to go back. Joe and Gail

Innkeeper Response

The Perfect Romantic Getaway

5 on November 07, 2015

I hesitate to give the Terrace Inn it's well-deserved, glowing review for fear its autumn guest count will suddenly skyrocket and my husband and I will have to find a different romantic locale in which to relive our perfect honeymoon. But, I believe there are plenty of beautiful, cozy, vintage rooms to go around. This Inn is amazing!!! We spent three days wandering the bay view nature trails, window-shopping downtown, and enjoying the lovely fall colors Petoskey had to offer. But, equally enjoyable was the time spent reading by the fire in the lobby of the Inn, talking with other guests, and coming down every morning to a tasty breakfast that fueled each day's adventure. The staff is so accommodating and just downright sweet. We were planning our annual visits before the second day was done. If only to try their amazing pizza one more time!

Innkeeper Response
Wow..can you say the best guest's ever?!!! I hesitate to boast but we just really do have amazing, wonderful people who stay here..not sure why..but like this couple..they were the perfect guests...they enjoy the quiet romantic walks in Bay View..Taking in the amazing architecture..appreciating the work that goes into those windows (merchandizing is not easy!) even if you don't buy a thing..having a chat with other people..and of course..the pizza..we wish we could offer it more often and may be we could if only everyone could taste it! thank you thank you and thank you!

We had a great time

5 on November 07, 2015

We loved this place. We had the first floor jacuzzi room, and could walk right out of our door to dinner, which was fabulous. Everybody was very friendly, even the other guests.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for your review! We really appreciate it! It is so competitive in this area. There are many great places to stay and dine. But, we hope that staying here we can make you feel like the special person you are..and feel that we truly appreciate you..the wonderful thing about staying here is meeting you..and you meeting others and just having an life experience you wouldn't get otherwise...Life is short..money is short..so whatever you do make the most of it..thank you again! Sincerely, Patty and all the TI staff

We had a good time and the staff was friendly and helpful. Plan on going back during the stay. Only complaint is that some of the group ate there and while food was good, took a long time.

Great Place to stay

4.4 on November 04, 2015

Unique stay

4.6 on October 22, 2015

We stayed at the Terrace Inn during their "Parafest" event so the inn was quite busy. The Inn is over 100 years old and the charm shows through..the stairs are slightly slanted, the plumbing is exposed in the room, there are antiques everywhere. We didn't get a chance to have dinner at the 1911 Restaurant, however, we did have breakfast the following morning and it was phenomenal-much better than any continental breakfast I've had at a "new" hotel. I will stay at this Inn every time I visit the Petosky area-it's beautiful, unique and I love feeling as if I've stepped back in time without sacrificing quality.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you so much for your review! If you come during a "non-event" time it will be quieter..and dinner will be available both Friday and Saturday nights. We are happy to give you a tour when things are "less busy" and you can enjoy the 1911 Restaurant..we also give you initials on every day you stay so you can get a free night (11th night) thank you again!

- Patty (Innkeeper)

Charm and Elegance from days gone by!

4.0 on October 19, 2015

The Terrace Inn is a lovely, old-fashioned Victorian Inn which takes you back in time when charm and elegance were the standard at an Inn such as this one. It is located in a beautiful hilltop neighborhood full of stately Victorian homes and overlooks the lake. Everywhere you looked in the Inn was something beautiful to enjoy, from the lovely antique furniture, gorgeous chandeliers, the rich wood, interesting artwork and informative historical articles about the Inn. All the rooms were different and delightful to explore. And best of all, Mo and Patty, the warm, friendly and hardworking owners were there to greet you and chat with you about their pride and joy. Patty even took time to take several pictures of us and she was delightful to chat with. We were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary and the Inn was a perfect place to celebrate 50 years! Thank you Mo and Patty for making our celebration very special. We hope to stay again someday soon and have dinner at the 1911 Restaurant, which wasn't open when we were there. We did have breakfast there and the food and service were both excellent! Mo and Patty, we wish you all the very best and hope to see you again! Patrick and Marti from Indiana.

Innkeeper Response
Dear Patrick and Marti.. It was so much fun meeting you..you are very special..and we hope you will come back so we can show you how awesome our new staff is and our food!..We want you to feel right at home.. no matter what is going on in this crazy world of ours..we want to make you feel relaxed and special..thank you SO MUCH! make sure you let us know when you visit so we can be sure to see you personally!

Another excellent stay at the Terrace Inn

5 on October 18, 2015

We decided to spend more time during the day and evening on the property of the , Terrace Inn. We relaxed on the front porch, mingled with other guests in the sitting area and had a delicious meal in the evening. Great host, great chef, great atmosphere (and our room was awesome)

Staff was wanting to please.

4.8 on October 17, 2015

Staff was wanting to please and make this a GREAT stay. . . they succeeded!

Terrace Inn is terrific!

4.6 on October 16, 2015

My husband and I decided to stay here for our first year anniversary and it was wonderful. The inn itself was beautiful and the food was sooo good! We chose the inn because I heard it was one of the most haunted places in Michigan. Even though we didn't have any ghostly encounters we still really enjoyed ourselves :)

unique place

4.0 on October 15, 2015

The room I had the first night I was there was very nice. It was decorated to the period of the Inn. The second night I stayed in a cheaper room by 10 dollars. I recommend spending the 10 dollars. The second room had only a shower and the shower head was low. Both rooms where decorated nicely. Everyone was friendly. Breakfast was good, but not great. For the price you will not find a better place. I will stay there again.

Our Favorite B & B in Michigan

5 on October 08, 2015

What a charming and unique B and B. It provided us with a wonderful place to spend our anniversary. Lovely Stay

4.4 on October 04, 2015

My 11-year old daughter and I stayed for two nights. We thoroughly enjoyed dinner in the restaurant and the daily included breakfast. The staff were pleasant and welcoming and the room was cozy. Overall, it's a very nice place to stay.

Already planning on coming back!

4.6 on October 02, 2015

Classic Victorian charm. Excellent value. Doesn't have all of the amenities that a modern, chain hotel would have . . . but it MORE than makes up for it with the value, service, cleanliness, and great location. We're already planning on coming back!

Wonderful Experience

Romantic and Charming

5 on September 17, 2015

This destination is for those looking for character and charm. I adored the gorgeous decor of my room, from the lace curtains to the porcelain dishes for jewelry and soap. The chandelier in our room was stunning, as well. It was the perfect romantic getaway for my husband and I. We felt like we stepped back in time. The private walk to the beach and private pier made sunsets so very romantic. I can't say enough about this gorgeous place!

Innkeeper Response
What a sweet review..that makes us so happy to hear you had a romantic getaway! We really appreciate your business and sharing your experience!

An Enchanting Gem

4.8 on September 15, 2015

It is hard not to fall under the spell of The Terrace Inn and the surrounding Bay View area. After a two night stay, my husband and I were hooked, from our large and comfortable room, to the delicious breakfasts to our room windows that actually opened to catch the Lake Michigan breezes. The large front porch overlooking Bay Views historic district, was a great place to enjoy breakfast, and meet fellow travelers. The Terrace Inn keeps the doors of unoccupied rooms open, so we got to see a variety of different rooms. Not one was the same, no cookie cutter style and design here. If you love lots of old woodwork, crystal chandeliers and a great single malt scotch menu - this is the place for you. .

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! That makes me personally happy that you enjoyed your stay and took that positive feeling with you! Thank you for mentioned in scotch menu too..my husband's nephew married a girl from Isle of Skye and they set up with all the Scotch! Great connection!

Terrace Inn, Sept,2015

4.4 on September 14, 2015

We visited the Terrace Inn right after Labor Day. Found our rooms in nice condition. Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere and period furnishings. The breakfast buffet was very nice. The 1911 restaurant was not opened for dinner during our stay. Chatted with the owner one evening. He was very friendly and it was interesting to hear the history of the hotel. Would definitely recommend it as a lovely spot for a getaway to Petoskey.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! We really appreciate you and the time you spent sharing your experience with others.

Great weekend

3.4 on September 10, 2015

Enjoyed our stay, rooms were tight but clean and comfortable. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Loved the area - close to parks, beach, bike paths and downtown stores.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review..of the 38 rooms..25 are what we refer to as "cottage rooms" because they are the most original in size and furnished in a cottage fashion just like the rest of Bay View. Other than a private bathroom put in the room, they originally had commodes, they have the same dresser, wrought iron bed frame and windows. It is tight in these rooms, but we do have larger rooms if you want to upgrade..(based on availability). Thanks again!

- Patty (innkeeper)

5 on September 10, 2015

Every member of the staff here was so attentive and kind to us. We came to get married, and each day, Belinda and Steve both asked how we were and if we were excited, and it meant so much to know they remembered. They all go over and above, and their customer service is absolutely what takes this bed and breakfast to the next level. The food is great, the room is beautiful and spotless, but the people are outstanding. We will absolutely be back.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for letting us know that you had an amazing experience..we are very happy for you both and so glad we met your expectations! Have a wonderful married life and some back and see us!

4.4 on August 10, 2015

The Terrace Inn is a well kept, old hotel in the center of the most lovely Victorian summer cottage collection around. If you enjoy plesant evening strolls through a charming little village and sunsets across the bay, a stay here is a must.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for for review! We are so glad you enjoyed the area and the Inn!

Pleasant as always

3.4 on August 06, 2015

Kind of quirky, but charming, typical of Bay View. A step back in time. We have previously visited several times and it is a favorite. In fact, it has improved since our last visit. The special pizza night menu surprised us, but was quite respectable although we would not have otherwise ordered it.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your feedback..glad you noticed the improvements..we continue to update the rooms and fix things that need it..which is a continuous occurrence in an old building such as this! The Pizza Menu is Sunday and Monday nights always

Quaint, Comfortable and Friendly B&B

4.4 on July 07, 2015

We stayed at the Terrace Inn and enjoyed a very comfortable room, yummy breakfasts, and WONDERFUL STAFF!!! It was difficult to leave as we felt like family after this stay. This is an older B&B with all the charm an older establishment has to offer and it is nestled in the community of Bay View so there are many walking opportunities through beautiful victorian neighborhoods. The proximity to downtown Petoskey is great and it is easy to park downtown and return quickly back to the Inn. Also, it is approximately a one mile walk to downtown if you are up for it! The staff at the front desk, restaurant and housekeeping were wonderful and made us feel at home. We also enjoyed the 1911 Restaurant - especially the hardwood-planked whitefish. We hope to return, one day, for another visit. Thank you! Pat & Peter

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! Feeling like family is what we hope for ..and I am proud of my staff because they work hard and they really do care about our guests..glad it shows!

- Patty (innkeeper)

Excellent but you need to know what to expect

4.6 on June 10, 2015

This is a beautifully maintained old property in a unique setting - inside a summer association of old cottages. There's a music conservancy in the summer and many wonderful programs. BUT it's an old property. The floors slant. The bathrooms are tiny (but plenty of hot water!). If you want everything modern and new - don't go. If you like charm and a little eccentricity and huge old trees and ice cream parties and great service - book a room now! And did I mention the food (breakfast and dinner) is good? And Petoskey is just down the road. And... well, just go. (No, I'm not an owner, just a very satisfied guest)

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review! I agree, it is important to recognize in advance that the Inn is 104 (or 105?) years old and there are some characteristics we have to live with, but in terms of baths, the cottage rooms have the smaller baths, the deluxe rooms have a full bath and the suites have bigger baths so you have an option of larger bedroom/bath. Many rooms have antiques but it isn't fancy, more comfortable homey and charming. Thank you for staying! Patty

- Patty (innkeeper)

A Must Stay!

4.2 on June 01, 2015

We've stayed at 30+ B&Bs and this is one that we would definitely go back to if we were visiting anywhere near this area. Not only was the place wonderfully maintained to its period whenever possible, the hosts could not have been friendlier and the neighborhood was one you wouldn't want to miss.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your kind review! We hope you do make it back someday!

4.6 on May 29, 2015

I booked the cheapest room available and it was a little small and dated but the friendliness of the staff and amazing breakfast made up for it. The breakfast is included with the room and there are many options you can order and they make it fresh for you. The Bayview location is very quiet and peaceful. I will definitely be staying here again

Very nice B&B in Petoskey!

We stayed for our anniversary. The staff was excellent and we had a lovely king size whirlpool jacuzzi room. Good value for money.

Terrace Inn is wonderful

5 on May 21, 2015

Anytime we come to Petoskey we stay at the Terrace Inn. It is beautiful. I love the fact that they leave the doors open of unoccupied rooms and encourage you to walk through the Inn and look around. Every room is different. We just stayed there last weekend for a Mother/Daughter getaway and the service was far beyond any hotel you would stay at. Breakfast is included in the price and you can order anything you want. Sit down and they bring it to you. Danyell was our waitress in the morning and she was awesome. Fast, friendly and efficient. Patty and Mo you are the best!

Innkeeper Response
We so appreciate hearing you enjoyed your stay here and of course we appreciate your business and so thankful you took the time to spend quality time with each other...memories and time are something no one can ever take away..I am going to share this with the staff to let them know they made a positive impact our you both. Thank you!

A beautiful get-away

4.4 on April 30, 2015

My husband and I stayed at the Inn in the King Deluxe room on the 1st floor. The place was beautiful. I felt at home and was sad to leave on Sunday to head back home. We met two of the employees: Mo (the owner) and Zach (the cook). They were extremely nice and welcoming. I can't wait to visit again.

Very cozy and losts of character. Stayed for one night with my boyfriend in the winter. We loved our room and walking around the bay view neighborhood in the snow. This is the type of place I think of when I want a bed and breakfast feel. I recommended it to my parents and friends immediately.

Charming and Historic

5 on November 13, 2014

This is NOT a Holiday Inn. If you want predictable, impersonal, standard amenities, choose a chain. This IS a charming, reportedly haunted, historic inn. As a B&B, it offers a friendly, helpful staff, welcoming common living areas--including a fireplace lit just for us, and three creaky floors of antique-filled rooms of varying sizes and amenities (all with TV and private bath). We were invited to wander through unoccupied rooms in upstairs corridors and enjoy the history. It's a long but do-able (and safe) walk to downtown Petoskey, and the neighborhood of impeccably kept Victorian cottages, the campus where Helen Keller and Booker T. Washington once spoke, and the paved path along Little Traverse Bay offer picturesque exercise or strolls, much nicer than a perfunctory exercise room, in my book. We will return.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your informative and positive review. I appreciate that you shared the positive aspects, yet made it clear what is wasn't so people reading this understand and have realistic expectations. I appreciate the time you took to share your feelings. Patty, Mo and the TI staff

Hidden Gem in Petoskey!

5 on October 29, 2014

This hidden gem is our favorite hotel. Sitting in Bay View among the trees and Victorian Homes, this place is truly a peaceful and relaxing slice of heaven!

Short stay

3.2 on October 18, 2014

Charming old inn located in an interesting area. Ours was a one night stay in mid-October so high season was past. Weather was cool and rainy and after dark lent character to tales of the place being haunted. An interesting stay, staff was friendly and helpful.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for your review. I'm glad the staff were friendly and helpful..that is music to my ears. Take care! Patty,

I stay at the Terrace Inn several times a year. The inn offers historic ambience with modern amenities. Full breakfast, (granola is delicious).

Anniversary weekend

3.6 on October 07, 2014

Hotel is very interesting and historical. My only complaint was the size of the room. We have stayed there before but never in their smaller rooms. We'll know better next time. Breakfast was good and helped to make the Terrace Inn a decent value. We have stayed at least 3 times in the past and I expect that we will again. The help was very friendly and helpful.

Great for the price

4.4 on October 06, 2014

The hotel was in need of a good update and repair. The WiFi was suppose to be free; however, our room was located on the third floor and we could not use our IPAD's or Phones on that floor. Also, we had a multiple problems with the room. The keeper's were great and they tried to service all our needs.

Terrace Inn Petoskey

4.4 on October 06, 2014

Quaint hotel, very clean and nice. Only thing that we were disappointed with was the bottom sheet was not smoothed out when the bed was remade. Other than that the rooms are quaint but small. Good for what we wanted. Breakfasts were delicious!

turn of the century charm

5 on October 05, 2014

I was part of a cycling group. They worked with us by allowing early check in, storing our bikes in their basement at night, allowing us to do yoga in their dining room and gave us a late check out. Their front porch is a wonderful place to sit and spend the evening.

Old mattress and old charm

Great Place with Lots of Character --Terrace Inn

3.8 on September 15, 2014

This was our second visit to Petoskey / Bay View MI area and the Terrace Inn. Love the antiques and cozy atmosphere. By registering a couple of months ahead, we were able to choose our room this visit which was a King Deluxe. Every room is decorated differently with antique furniture and accessories. Because we visited during the off-peak season, our made-to-order breakfast was a real treat and delicious. Most all the staff were courteous, friendly, and helpful. The room rate which included our breakfast for two was very reasonable. Would highly recommend the Terrace Inn, especially if you like antiques, good service, lovely neighborhood to walk and relaxing atmosphere.

Petoskey Cycle Tour

3.2 on September 05, 2014

Stayed in a top (third) floor room. Small but clean and quiet. Poor wi-fi upstairs but excellent in ground floor & on front porch. Managed to store our bikes in a basement store room for protection against theft and the elements. At dinner there twice, very good both times. Reasonable service but a bit lacking in wine protocol. Hiccup as we were checking out as one meal bill not entered into the computer. Front desk staff (Kirstin I believe) was singularly unhelpful and had to be prompted to call her employer to get things straightened out. All ok in the end. A very quiet Inn away from traffic but close enough to the Little Traverse Wheelway for our needs.

Cozy and romantic

3.6 on September 04, 2014

We were late to check out so they left the keys in an envelope. The hotel is in a very safe and beautiful part of the town. Breakfast was ok but the outside dining area was very nice! The prize might be a little high but given the locality it is worth it. Parking might be an issue thoufh

Ok but not worth the price

2.0 on September 02, 2014

The Terrace Inn is very charming and situated in a beautiful location. However, in my opinion, the room we had was not worth the money we paid for it. The room was small, we only had a shower (no bathtub), and thee were 2 dead flies on the floor of the bathroom. So I am not sure when that bathroom floor was cleaned. We saw some other other rooms that were bigger and looked nicer, so perhaps it depends on the room you get. The person at the reception was very unfriendly and serious. Breakfast was ok, typical white bread, and smuckers marmelade. I expected more from an expensive BB.

Really Wanted to Love This Place

2.4 on August 25, 2014

I love the idea of an historic inn, and this one is in such a great neighborhood--that part cannot ever be beat BUT...needs much work. The plumbing is subpar meaning while showering you get scorched or blasted by icy water; electrical was no different with cheap a/c window units which were sorely inadequate making the room too warm & the electrical outlets were overloaded with plugs so lights flickered. Furniture needs a good cleaning or repainting in too many instances--stained chair pads, sticky tables, etc are very unpleasant. twin rooms are VERY small-an upgrade is a necessity and we usually travel in Europe so are used to small rooms but you have to be able to open a suitcase somewhere safely. If you need wireless you have to trek down flights of stairs to the lobby (which we knew but since this is easily fixable with an attic or floor wireless routers really should be fixed); TV had very basic cable. This inn had a supposedly very nice restaurant but the complimentary breakfast was store-bought danish, cheap loaf breads, unripe fruit, casserole style pans of scrambled eggs and potatoes, a waffle machine you see as budget hotels or sandwich bread french toast and basic OJ. The bacon and sausage were good quality. Ordered oatmeal--which I like even the instant--but this was inedible. Unfortunately also tried dinner the first night after a long drive--they neglected to share specials that occurred later in our stay and on all the other nights there was piano music--very disappointing not to be told about this as we were there for several nights. Dinner was subpar with overcooked plank whitefish and potatoes and good but not special desserts. I will say the restaurant staff was super nice. And the Bay View neighborhood is the really only draw to this town... unfortunately we did not expect all the summer events would be over by early August.

Peaceful Stay

4.6 on August 25, 2014

This is an old inn with lots of character. Uneven floors and decor from the last turn of the century, set in the middle of Bay View, when visiting their summer cottages, spend time on the porches of their Victorian houses, attending classical music entertainment offered by the Bay View Association, and other wise unwinding in decidedly quiet ways. This permeates the Terrace Inn, where your pace will slow, and you will savor each moment. Best two nights of sleep I've had in more than a year.

The Terrace Inn is always a good value. The rates are reasonable and the accommodations are comfortable. The complimentary continental breakfast is excellent, however the dinner menu is very limited.

A Classic Lives on!

3.4 on August 20, 2014

Clean, cheerful, bright, idyllic setting, but rooms show the wear of 100+ years. A quiet place, but not up to modern soundproofing standards. I'll be back, but don't assume this is a typical Ramda Inn, rather a classic with expected joys and a few signs of age.

4.0 on August 20, 2014

This place is absolutely charming- vintage details throughout in a beautiful residential setting with views of the bay- absolutely comfortable and the staff was friendly and very helpful. Its not new by any means, but fresh and clean and gives you the feel of a bygone era...so if you're looking for Euro-chic this isn't it, but has the feel of preserving the warmth and simplicity of a simpler, easy-going time. This was our second time staying here and will be back again for sure!

Charming accomodations

3.0 on August 19, 2014

We were very pleased about our stay at the Terrace Inn. The room was quaint and comfortable. The area is lovely. My only complaint was that upon arrival at the desk the staff was less than pleasant. I was ignored by 4 to 5 staff members around the desk for several minutes as I stood there. When I was finally greeted, it was not with much enthusiasm. Everything else was just fine however. I would stay again.

Lovely Inn

4.0 on August 18, 2014

We loved our stay. Our rooms were delightful. I do wish they had told us that our room the 1st night would be directly over the dance floor while a wedding reception was occurring though. The next two nights were in a different room, and with no wedding going on, all was quiet. I would recommend staying over any night but Saturday to avoid weddings. It's a lively place in a beautiful neighborhood, a perfect location, and a great breakfast. We would go back for sure.

Delightful, Relaxing, and Well Beyond Our Expectations!

4.6 on August 17, 2014

What a lovely inn, full of history and endless charm! The hosts were very helpful and delightful. The setting is so relaxing and the grounds are just beautiful and the inn is surrounded by lovely homes and walkways with a very easy stroll to the lake. We were especially happy with the restaurant--gorgeous presentations and an extensive menu, served by friendly and efficient staff.

Lovely historic bed and breakfast in Bay View

4.0 on August 17, 2014

We spent six nights at this charming hotel. Our room had 2 twin beds on the third floor with two windows, was clean and quite cozy. Each room is beautifully decorated and different from the others. The creaky wooden floors just add to the charm and remind you of its' history. The owners are always on hand and ready to meet your needs. Breakfast is included with the room and was very good. This was our second stay and we will stay again!

First time staying at the Terrace and will return.Normally stay at Bay View Inn and the wait staff is more experienced and this adds to the stay. The wait staff still needs some training, but overall enjoyed the stay and recommend it to others. The food was excellent, especially the cedar plank whitefish

I love this place!

4.6 on August 11, 2014

The rooms are simple and adequately furnished. I love staying in a vintage hotel, but others expecting a modern 4-star hotel might not care for this. The rooms had everything we needed and were comfortable and clean. Dinner on the terrace was outstanding, great food and very relaxing. The complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations. This was our 2nd visit and we will definitely return again.

Bay View and the Terrace Inn is the best place to stay

4.6 on July 19, 2014

We like the Inn very much. This is the best location for biking, walking, and shopping.

A warm lodge-like feeling with attentive service staff.

3.2 on July 18, 2014

Everything was very good and made our vacation relaxing and pleasant. Front desk attitude warm and friendly Dinner was excellent. Wait staff needs training. Breakfast offering (included with room) was fulfilling. Replacing some of the dining tables on the front porch with cushioned "lounge chairs" would be a good move so that guests can enjoy the porch to read, converse, have a drink, etc.

Great place to stay for relaxation and a step back in time

4.2 on July 12, 2014

Hotel is old so floors are uneven and there is no elevator. We knew that but for us the atmosphere and location in a historic resort more than compensate. Rooms are clean and tastefully decorated. Food is excellent. This was my fourth stay and I will definitely stay again.

3.4 on June 21, 2014

A great piece of history. They did a great job of emphasizing the historical, keeping guest rooms as close to original as possible while still upgrading to private bath and shower in each room. We only had breakfast in the dining room and food was excellent as was the service.

Best Friends weekend

3.0 on June 12, 2014

It is a cute B&B and is very clean. We had a problem with toilet running constantly and was very loud with banging pipes, mentioned it the first day right after we checked in and we were pretty much blown off. The dining room was closed to us both nights since they had events going on. I would think they might have mentioned that little tidbit when we booked since we had to drive to town for meals. However we were allowed to enjoy the morning breakfast buffet that was complementary and it was excellent. Finally, all rooms don't have air conditioning so if going in the heat of summer make sure you ask because ours didn't and couldn't open the windows since no screens. All in all it is in a perfect location and the surroundings are beautiful and it is adorably decorated.

Beautiful place to go with your Bride!!!

5 on May 29, 2014

Nice place to enjoy a romantic getaway and spend some good quality time together. The atmosphere is laid back and the staff is very friendly

Enjoyable stay

5 on May 07, 2014

We stayed on a Thursday and Friday night during the off-season. We were warmly greeted by Ron even though we arrived a day earlier than expected. (My bad) Breakfast was prompt and delicious. The planked Whitefish was everything people said it was. We came with high expectations based upon previous reviews and were not disappointed. When we lived in PA we went to a B and B in Cape May, NJ every year. We were hoping to find a B and B in MI that was comparable. We found one that was more than we hoped for. Bay View is reminiscent of Chautauqua, which I visited often when I lived on Lake Chautauqua and downtown Petoskey is charming with excellent restaurants. I recommend the Terrace Inn and 1911 Restaurant without reservation.

This place is fabulous!

I was really happy to see such a close knit and caring staff. The room worked out great and the town was just close enough to the B&B's. The Terrace Inn will receive nothing but positive feed back from me.

Lovely Inn! Outstanding Staff!

5 on October 22, 2013

The Terrace Inn is a lovely Inn with an outstanding staff! I usually stay for a week every summer...and have been doing this for years now. The staff this past summer was outstanding...the best ever...very professional! The rooms at the Inn are beautifully decorated with antiques and the continental breakfast is wonderful! I ate most of my meals at the Inn...and I especially like the planked whitefish and the perch! Another favorite is the pizza and salad! There is lots to do in Petoskey...you will not be disappointed if you stay at the Terrace Inn! The Innkeepers Patty & Mo are very friendly and helpful!

Very Comfortable

4.4 on October 10, 2013

We loved our stay at the Terrace Inn. The room was very cozy and comfortable. The lobby provided a nice space to just relax and have a cup of coffee after shopping downtown Petoskey. Although we had dinner reservations elsewhere, the breakfast was perfect. There was an egg casserole, a potato casserole, bacon, waffles, fruit, yogurt and bagels. There was always a staff person visible and ready to help if needed. In all, it was a great stay and we will return.

Great place and excellent service!

5 on July 19, 2013

We stayed 4 nights and loved our stay - especially enjoying breakfast and dinner on their beautiful Terrace. Everyone was friendly & went out of there way to make our stay special.

Yearly visit to The Terrace Inn

5 on July 04, 2013

Every year I look forward to staying at The Terrace Inn in beautiful Bay View! The welcoming atmosphere, great food, majestic outdoor terrace for dining among the tall trees, the quiet morning walks and sunsets on the Bay are what keep me coming back. I'm honored to be a yearly Artist in Residence at The Terrace Inn where music and art are celebrated during the summer months, and an artist is showcased each week!

Quiet, quaint, affordable

2.8 on May 12, 2013

I stay here only to visit relatives in area. This will be my 4th visit within 7 years. Their sister hotel is much nicer but pricer. This place is old but kept up nicely and in a residential neighborhood. Beware, there is no elevator to get to 2nd or 3rd floor. Continental breakfasts are too sweet wish they could offer oatmeal something less sugar. I hear their dinners and pizzas are good. If you want quiet, this is it. Rooms are affordable and you have a big choice if booking early.

Great place for a romantic getaway!

5 on January 07, 2013

We came back for an impromptu wedding anniversary and we're glad we did. We'll be back!

We spent 3 days at the Terrace Inn for my nieces wedding.

5 on January 01, 2013

The staff was outstanding in helping us with the wedding. We couldn't have wished for a better venue, and Mo and his team did everything possible to assure the wedding was perfect - and it was. The accommodations were great, we enjoyed the breakfast buffets in the mornings - food was very good. We would highly recommend for a special event or just a nice quiet get-away.

Always enjoy our stay

This is the third time we have been able to spend time at the Terrace Inn. The hosts and staff are exceptionally friendly and eager to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. Victorian charm that warrants return visits.

We definitely enjoyed our stay at this place plus the fact that the whole area in this neighborhood is safe and beautiful. The place also have a nice accommodation, wi-fi connection, and friendly staff to answer the questions of first time tourists in this area like us.

Had a good time

Very charming

3.6 on July 25, 2011

This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and it was wonderful. Terrace Inn is located in a nice part of town very quiet and picturesque. You can easily walk to the bike path and walk along the lake shore to view the beautiful sunsets of Petoskey. The rooms were clean comfy and felt very much like staying in someones home. The breakfast was only average and the dinner prices were quite pricey but the atmosphere was very nice and we look forward to visiting again.

Delightful experience

3.8 on July 18, 2011

Our stay at the Terrace Inn in Petosky proved to be one of the best weekends we have had away from home. The room was small, but very clean and the bed was comfortable. We had a delicious buffet breakfast each morning, and also ate dinner in the dining room one evening. That exceeded our expectations. Everyone was gracious and very helpful. The area is pristeen with gorgeous homes and breathtaking scenery. We will definately return to Petosky and the Terrace Inn whenever we come back to Northern MI.

We'll be back (again!)

3.6 on April 25, 2011

We've stayed at the Terrace Inn twice and are booked for our third visit later this year. This was the first B&B we'd ever visited and needless to say we became hooked. The location, near to the bay, is outstanding, and the neighborhood is attractive (not to mention quiet, during off-season!). The breakfasts and dinners are great and Mo is a very pleasant host.

Ok but won't bother going back.

2.6 on February 07, 2011

We stay at Bed & Breakfasts as much as possible whenever travelling or just for getaway weekends at least twice a year. This one was average at best. The staff was friendly but very scattered and unorganized. The Inn was lovely but had a hard time regulating the temp in our room so was always too hot or too cold. Food was ok but breakfast was what you would get at any hotel, not what we were looking for and had to take care of our own dishes and clear our table. We take a getaway to get away from work and be pampered. Just not worth the cost. We have stayed at much better places.

Lovely Inn in Bay View

4.8 on August 18, 2010

We stayed only one night, and felt very fortunate to get a room at the Terrace Inn. The room wasn't quite ready for us when we got there, but the housekeeping staff offered us a cold drink, and started the air-conditioner going so that the room was well-cooled when we entered. The decor was absolutely charming, the soap and shampoo top-notch, and the breakfast in the morning was fresh and welcome. The bed was comfortable, and the entire Inn was welcoming. We sat on the porch in the morning, and drank our coffee, and enjoyed conversation with other visitors. This was a truly special experience, and the staff really went out of their way to be accommodating.

Relax into a more Gentle Time

Going to Bay View Terrace Inn is always something we look forward to. It's like stepping back into an era where everybody knows and trusts each other, are friendly, and life is just so pleasant. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms wonderfully diverse in their charming decor, and the food is exceptional at a reasonable price. There are not enough words to describe the Bay View and the Terrace Inn - It's something you have to experience for yourself.

Dream Come true Getaway!

My sister and I visited the Bayview Terrace Inn back in February for the dog sledding adventure package. We had a FANTASTIC time, and created beautiful memories! This was our very first time at a Bed and breakfast and dogsledding so we were definately intimidated! When we arrived we quickly relaxed taking in the homelike feel of the Inn and the employees were very friendly! Patty and Mo were adorable hosts and have created a great place to visit! While my sister checked us in I tried out the lobby chairs which were by far one of the most comfortable chairs I have EVER sat in! This again surprised me beacause they didn't look it, which totally proves that looks can be deceiving! Once we arrived in our room it was like a standard hotel room and was very charming! It was pink pink pink! just how we wanted it! :) Breakfast was your standard continental and was great! I also liked the special touches within this INN such as complimentary hot chocolate served at night in the main lobby. The dining area also had candles and roses on the tables for evening dining. All of these little touches are important and created a lovely atmosphere to be in! Dinner at the Inn which came with our package was very delicious! If I has anything negative to say about this Inn it would definately be the parking which was horrible, because there is no actual parking lot. You have to park on the sides of the road and walk your stuff in! I recommend packing light! All in all i loved my stay here and can't thank the Innkeepers enough along with the entire dogsledding adventure team for allowing me to fullfill a dream of mine and for giving me a great place to stay in as well! I recommend this place to anyone looking to try dogsledding and would like to have a relaxing weekend! what a great experience! THANK YOU! Glorianna Cece & Jessica Cece

Can't wait to come back!

A spur of the moment trip and a delightful stay at the Terrace Inn. We will most definately return again - food was wonderful, the best planked whitefish we have ever had. Staff delightful, gracious - all you could ask for. A step back in time and what a welcome relief! One more note-very reasonably priced and well worth it.

awesome winter getaway

My husband and I stayed a night at the Terrace Inn in December. This was our first experience with a bed and breakfast and we cannot wait to do it again! It was wonderful. The inn is darling and quite comfortable. The service is marvelous. We enjoyed the breakfast, too. It was a beautiful snowy winter's day which made it easy to spot a bright red cardinal outside the window. We also enjoyed a peaceful winter's hike throughout the grounds and beyond. I should think a summer's evening on the huge porch would also be quite enjoyable.

Mid Winter Sanity Check

My wife and I have just spent one of the most relaxing and enjoyable weekends in our memory. Thanks to Mo and Patty and the outstanding services they provided we feel human again. From checking in, to the cleanliness of the room; from the incredibly delicious breakfast to the gormet wonders of the dinner kitchen, we were continually amazed at the highest quality being offered. Mo and Patty sweetened the package by throwing in a horse drawn sleigh ride through the historic Bayview neighborhood. The amenities and the renovations took us back to an era of refined granduer and elegance; to a time when sitting in the grand lobby, near the fireplace playing back gammon or parcheesi, and visiting with other guests was the accepted norm. Kudos to Mo and Patty for their patience in achieving their dream, and for their impeccable graciousness. Denny and Barb

A Step Back in Time With All the Modern Conveniences

We would highly recommend this quaint Bed and Breakfast. It is the perfect opportunity for a romantic getaway with its whirlpool suites and cozy fireplace in the room. The decor, music, and ambience take you back in time, you almost expect to find elegantly dressed ladies and dapper gentlemen around every corner. The friendliness of the staff and the cozy atmosphere make you feel so at home. The food was delicious and the rooms are decorated to perfection. If you're looking for a place to totally unwind and loose yourself in romance for a weekend, this is the place you should come to!!

Charming inn in quiet town

We have stayed at The Terrace Inn many times, and absolutely love it. The updated rooms are lovely- try one of their jacuzzi suites for relaxing after skiing or bicycling. Their smaller twin rooms are great if you have kids along, and you can book an adjacent queen room for the adults. Service here is always helpful and responsive. The town is quiet & filled with charming cottages. Private beach in summer; near great skiing (downhill & cross-country) in winter.

My 20th Stay at the Inn

I have stayed at the Terrace Inn many times with my family and have enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend there several times. And again it met my expectations which are high! The inkeepers were wonderful and so was the staff. They made sure you were comfortable. A great dinner and a reception on Friday evening with live music. I recommend you take your shopping list for Christmas and spend next Thanksgiving at the Inn. Petoskey is a great little town for shopping with some of the big store, but best of all little shops, boutiques and galleries.

Thanks Terrace Inn!

We had such a relaxing stay! Everyone is so friendly at the Bay view Terrace Inn and made our children feel welcome. We can't wait to go back up for Skiing, then warm up by the fireplace. Thanks Terrace Inn!

A Piece of Heaven on Earth

My sister and I recently stayed here on a whim and it was an awesome spur of the moment decision! We stayed off season for the area and fell in love with it all. The attention to details in the rooms was very pleasing! The owners and staff were helpful and very friendly! We took off on a wee tour of our own of the place upon rising in the morning and got to see most of the rooms... They were all very delightful and brought back fond memories of our grandmother. My sister liked it so much that she is trying to convince her oldest daughter to have her wedding there. I hope that happens because I would love to fly up and stay there again!

Fall Romantic Getaway

This was our second year to stay at Terrace Inn after the first I made it our goal to make it an annual event and to stay in a different room every time. It is a beautiful, romantic, peaceful and friendly Inn. We highly recommend it.

We very much enjoy the Terrace Inn. Have been there at least 4 times over the years. We enjoy just walking through the historic neighborhood and then of course shopping in Petoskey. It is very calm and relaxing and we also enjoy eating there. Judi & Rol

Terrace Inn July 2009

3.4 on August 06, 2009

The Terrace Inn is within walking distance of many things so the location is great. Our room was clean (somebody's candy wrapper was in the closet?), but there was an inch of open space between the air conditioner and the wall (we placed a towel in the hole to keep out the mosquitos) - the room was a little run down (kleenex stuffed in windows/screens to keep out the mosquitos - some windows wouldn't open). Very little traffic noise, but the walls are very thin (we could hear the guitar in the next room like it was in the same room but it was during the early afternoon so it was fine). Tried to connect to wireless and failed - front desk was having as much trouble as we had. The food was good and the staff was friendly and helpful. If you're looking for something laid back and off the beaten track (and you have no need to contact work when away), it is a good place to stay. The outside seating (our favorite thing about our stay) is a wonderful setting for meals.

A Great Experience

This was our first time at the Terrace Inn and would definitely stay again. Very clean and comfortable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Loved the whole feel of the place. Have stayed before at the Grand Hotel on Macinac Island and this felt like a mini Grand Hotel with the decorations and the art on display.

Comfortably Elegant

5 on July 13, 2009

We experienced our first stay at the Terrace Inn and it was a impressive experience! The Inn is absolutely beautiful and the staff is very graceous and accomodating. The food in the restaurant was absolutely top-rated, not to mention the elegant, but very comfortable atmosphere. Our room was very quaint and charming and very comfortable. The whole historical area is a must-see with just a short walk to Lake Michigan where there is so much to do! Thanks Patty & Mo! Your Chocolate Iowa Friends

A great place to experience this lovely, unusual, victorian, summer community in the heart of Petoskey. The Inn is clean, quiet, and comfortable. Breakfast and staff were delightful. Great value in an otherwise pricey area during peak season. Only drawback is that the Inn has no elevator. We enjoyed our visit thoroughly and plan to stay here again! Les and Chris Homan

Home away from home in a beautiful location

Friendly, helpful staff! Planked whitefish dinner is a must! Staff was able to provide anything I asked for, including special orders in the dining room. Great value in a what can be expensive location. Shopping is Petoskey is wonderful too.

Unbelieveable Stay

5 on December 11, 2008

I stayed at the Terrace Inn just recently and the location is great! Just about a mile from downtown and the shops there are great! This place has so much character and you feel comfortable just lounging in the lobby by the fireplace with a good book, I know I did! Its calm and quiet and not too far from Boyne Highlands which is perfect because I always hate to stay at Resorts when i take a trip to ski. It always feels so BUSY, but I love to ski so I don't want to be too far away! Its so charming here and the innkeepers and staff will take time to talk to you and make you feel at home. I am definately coming back soon for my next ski trip!

Terrace Inn

The location is on a hillside in the midst of Victorian homes and is ideal for a scenic walk. The long veranda facing the bay is a relaxing place to sit and visit as is the lobby. I went with 2 woman friends and were pleased with the large bathroom with plenty of counter space. We also had a whirlpool tub. The cleanliness of the rooms was outstanding. I don't know if there is an elevator or rooms on the ground floor so check ahead of time if you can't do stairs. Patty, one of the innkeepers, was nice enough to take a photo of us and e-mail it as we forgot cameras. Jane
