An Amazing Experience at the English Inn

5 on August 29, 2018

We stayed from Thursday through Sunday, enjoying a dinner in their restaurant and one in their pub, and well as three breakfasts. The food was delicious. The dining experience was sophisticated and our waitress was fun. As for our room, it was very clean. We enjoyed using the fireplace. Our bathroom was roomy, with a jacuzzi tub that we enjoyed. The bed was comfortable. All and all, it was a fantastic experience that we look forward to repeating.

Excellent

English Inn was an exceptional experience, very accommodating, very personal, very romantic

Lack of Service and Spectacular Gardens

2.6 on August 09, 2018

I stayed recently as a guest at the B&B. The grounds and gardens are magnificent BUT the customer service (or lack there of) was appalling. I was charged $50 for a 30 minute late check out for a bride to get dressed in my room who paid to get married there! It was ridiculous. Also, they were talking negatively about the wedding coordinator at every turn. The original features of the house were beautiful but there is a fine line between English Country and outdated.

Anniversary

1.6 on August 02, 2018

Stayed in one of the cottages to celebrate our anniversary, room was clean but went to use the Jacuzzi and it took 40 minutes fill. We had dinner and the waiter was very rude, a table had been seated after us and they were waited on first. Did not appreciate the 15 minute wait, asked the waiter when he finally got back to us if he had forgotten about us and he a had a smug reply. We will not stay there again.

Tranquility

4.6 on July 28, 2018

Doing nothing for a few days can lead to the perfect somethings! Our goal for this get away was to just rest and relax...that we did. The English Inn staff and hosts were genuinely happy, as they cooked and served amazing 5-star meals. Rather like a trip to England, close to home! We have already recommended The English Inn to everyone wanting a weekend in the Michigan (English) countryside.

Not your average bed and breakfast

4.2 on July 28, 2018

This is our 5th or 6th time to stay and the English Inn. It’s a special place for us. We live about an hour away but feel as though we’ve been transported to another world and time whenever we go. It’s hard for me to give an accurate review because my expectations are high and always met. “Met my expectations “ doesn’t describe the peace and enjoyment we get every time. Don’t come here unless you want to come back.

One of the best weekends we’ve had

5 on July 26, 2018

My wife and I celebrated our one year anniversary and wanted to get away and we loved the idea of not having to drive too far. When we got there the staff treated us grea, and even walked us to our room also I have to say the bed was bery comfortable .there were extra little touches that we loved. Breakfast was great and the dinner was also excellent. Well priced and all in all great place to stay in

Outstanding Stay

5 on July 24, 2018

We chose the English Inn as our wedding location after falling in love with the grounds. My husband and I as wrll as many family members traveled from PA, NJ and beyond. We had the perfect weekend. Service and food were both top notch. The grounds and main inn building are beautiful. We stayed in the Dove cottage and got reafy in Ivy cottage. Both are beautiful, spacious, and homey. We will absolutely be back! Thank you so much for a job well done. You exceeded our expectations.

Wonderful time at the English Inn

5 on July 24, 2018

This was the second time that my wife and I have stayed at the English Inn, and both times, it was memorable. My wife and I are in the habit of staying at B&B's when on vacation or traveling, and this is one of our favorites. We stayed in the Windsor bedroom, which my wife loves. The staff are all first-rate, and always see to the small details that mean so much. The grounds are beautiful, and the aged stone and masonry put me in mind of Lothlorien or Rivendell. The interior decor is both clever, and tasteful. Our dinner was quiet and relaxing after a day spent traveling. I wish that I had a local restaurant that served breakfasts as good. We will return again.

Toffee Cottage

3.6 on July 12, 2018

We stayed in the Toffee Cottage which was lovely & had a nice view of the grounds. The glass door to the bathroom was less than desirable. Unfortunately, they have a water pressure issue, not to mention hard water. It took forever to rinse the soap off my hands & the showers lost all water pressure if multiple people were showering at the same time. The grounds the self were well groomed except for the one & only bench by the river/stream. They need more outdoor seating on the property in the shade & in the sun. It would also be nice if there was a walk way from the cottages to the river instead of having to walk thru the outdoor seating area of the pub. It was awkward walking past people eating. The restrooms in the ‘main’ house need to be updated or at least a fresh coat of paint & a massive cleaning. In fact, the entire first floor & basement level of the ‘main’ house need a good cleaning, fresh coats of paint &/or new wall paint. It was disappointing to see peeling wall paper in such a beautifully historic home. As for the service, that was wonderful! We were there for a wedding & our server was on-point. Josh the bartender in the Pub was friendly & mixing tasty cocktails. The food for the wedding was good for a wedding. The salmon was cooked perfectly but the filet was ungodly over cooked. The food in the pub was pretty good, escargot was delicious. Overall, I would rate this Estate a 3, the potential is there, they just need to fine-tune a few things and it will be a 5.
