Great to visit off season. We stayed in mid-October and were treated to spectacular season of leaf change. This was our second stay at Atlantic Birches, and it was as good as the first. This time we rented The Vesper suite and were not disappointed. Ray is always helpful with questions or with ideas of things to do.

Really enjoyed our one night stay here, beautiful home, great hosts.

Love the Cottage. Nautical Decor is very nice. Room very clean and comfortable. Cottage has a homey feel. Breakfast was nice with a fresh large bowl of fruit (strawberries, blueberries, canteloupe, grapes). Also, had english muffins, cereal, juice, coffee and an assortment of muffins. Short walk to Old Orchard. Grounds are well kept; nice front porch to relax on. Would not hesitate to return.

This was our first time at a bed and breakfast and we really enjoyed our stay. We stayed in the Seashore room which was small, but we knew that when we booked. It was great for the price. Everything was clean. The innkeeper was very helpful in giving us recommendations on where to eat and what to do. Would definitely stay again, but I doubt we will ever make the 16 hour drive from SC again!

We stayed here for one night in September and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We were in the Seashore room in the Cottage house. The room was very comfortable with a cool claw foot tub and shower. We were able to enjoy the sunrise over the water from the outside deck. The continental breakfast was very good. The inn keeper Ray was very well versed on the area and gave us good suggestions for sightseeing and food. His recommendation of the Rising Tide restaurant was superb, as we would not have found it on our own.
4.8 on October 05, 2016
We enjoyed our stay here, and appreciated the helpfulness of the innkeepers. Our room was pretty, and it was nice to have a tub and shower, as many b and bs that we stay in have only stall showers. The continental breakfast was very nice. The location was convenient to Portland....and a very short walk to the Pier . We would have liked to have had a mini fridge....

We recently stayed at the Atlantic Birches Inn and out of the four B&Bs we stayed at during our vacation, it was my least favorite. The house is beautiful but I got a weird "vibe" - maybe it was the bridal dress on display in one of the rooms, it was kind of creepy. The breakfast is continental so don't expect too much. The Inn Keepers are really nice, the town is probably really cool in the summer but the carpet was rolled up and put away until next year when we were there. It reminded me of a mini-Coney Island. The two pluses are: TVs in the bedroom and a heated pool - probably one of the only ones on the island in a B&B. If you love, love, love old houses - this one is for you.

Ray and Heidi were excellent hosts during our three night stay. The location is perfect: Close to Portand and withing walking distance of downtown. Couldn't ask for more. The breakfasts could have been better (same as home) BUT the blueberry muffins were the best we ever had.
4.8 on September 29, 2016
We stayed in the Sea Shore room in the house next to the main house. Our room had a cool claw foot tub in the bathroom and a very comfortable bed. From the deck off the back of the house we could watch the sunrise and see the water. The continental breakfast in the morning was very good. The host Ray, knew the area very well and had good recommendations for things to do and places to eat.

The innkeepers (Ray & Heidi) were gracious, welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect. The room was very comfortable and clean. While the blueberry muffins were the best we have ever had, the rest of the breakfast was less than expected.

I loved that we could walk to the beach from this quiet and charming BnB. Only regret is that the breakfast wasn't a hot breakfast and the price was a little steep, but we stayed over a holiday weekend so that's to be expected.

Ray & Heidi were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. We loved our stay at Atlantic Birches.
4.6 on September 18, 2016
The room was beautiful, and the owners were super-nice. We arrived late, and had a little trouble getting in, but the wait was well worth it. Definitely will be a place that I return to and that I will recommend to friends and family!

Atlantic Birches Inn is the best place to stay in Old Orchard beach. It has the best value, very close to the beach and restaurants. Heidi and Ray are great hosts and are very accomodating. We definitely recommend.
3.8 on September 08, 2016
The Inn was really nice. The room was small but cozy and it was really nice having a front porch. We really enjoyed the pool as well. Since it was such a busy weekend it was nice having a private escape. Clean and comfortable, we would definitely stay here again!
4.6 on September 08, 2016
My girlfriend and I stayed here for a long weekend and loved it. We stayed in the Gables Room in the guest house. There is a small kitchen downstairs, which was a nice surprise, with a mini-fridge, sink, and tables, and another mini-fridge upstairs, so you can store some food. It was very quiet and clean. There's a large front deck and a small private back deck that was wonderful. There's also a pool! The only negatives I have, and they're not really that bad, are that the mattress was pretty firm, so if that's not your thing (I myself need a much cushier mattress), maybe try another room, and there's no second shower curtain in the bathroom, so the water can leak through the thin liner that's there. Other than that, it was fantastic! The owners are very nice, friendly, and can recommend places in the area. The house itself is in walking distance of Old Orchard Beach and the carnival/arcades/restaurants down there, and a very convenient drive to Portland, which is where we spent a lot of our weekend. I would definitely recommend it!
4.6 on September 03, 2016
The location, cleanliness, and accommodations were excellent. I prefer to have a hot breakfast, as I have experienced in many other B and Bs, but the Continental breakfast was ok.

4.8 on August 10, 2016
I was lucky enough to stay here for a few days. Atlantic birches exceeded my expectations. I had a quaint little room under the eaves which was spotless along with the bathroom. Continental breakfast consisted of fresh fruit, muffins, toast, cereal and of course coffe, tea and juice. Atlantic birches is conveniently located to the pier in old orchard beach. I would definitely stay here again.
5 on August 09, 2016
Stayed for 5 days and enjoyed every one. Each day started with a great breakfast and good conversation. Even though OOB is very busy in the summer we did not hear any outside noise and enjoyed a very restful sleep. All the major attractions, including the beach are an easy walk from the inn. Planning on going back for our next vacation.

Well appointed room and suitable bathroom. Good breakfast with wonderful muffins.

This had to have been at least our 10th time staying here. We had our son and one of his friends for some time at the beach. ABI has a great location, quiet but close to everything, always impeccably clean and comfortable. Ray's recommendation of Sea Salt Lobster was so good, we went there two nights! Great food. We love coming back here!
4.6 on July 15, 2016
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Seashore Room in the cottage. I had concerns about the slanted ceiling from other reviews, but the slanted side was over the bed and it proved not to be a problem. The room was very well cleaned, the bathroom cleanliness met my boyfriend's high standards, and the linens smelled freshly washed. The cottage itself is adorable from the blueberry themed kitchen area, to the common sitting room loaded with beach knickknacks and the atmosphere was extremely quiet and peaceful. The breakfast muffins were delicious, as was the fruit salad and they had a nice variety of toast. The innkeepers were very welcoming and informative. We let them know in advance that we would be late to arrive and check in and they were very accommodating. We ate at three out of the four restaurants they recommended and were very pleased with all of them. It was also raining a bit the weekend we were there and they were kind enough to lend us an umbrella while we were out. The only problem we had the whole weekend was that there weren't enough hooks to hang all of our wet things on to dry, though we were able to make do with chairs. The location is not on the water, if that is what you are looking for, but it is a short and pleasant walk to the waterfront, and the inn itself is very easy to get to driving from many directions. This was the first time that either of us had stayed at a bed and breakfast and we were both thoroughly pleased with the experience. Thank you, Heidi & Ray for your tremendous hospitality!

Owners were very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and of good size, just wished there was a door between the bedroom and common area. The breakfast was small, but sufficient. It was a nice distance from the beach and Boardwalk- easy walking distance, but far enough that noise wasn't an issue. Would definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to others.

A superior B&B on a tree lined street at the center of Old Orchard Beach, and near to the village and beach. Our room was very clean and neat. Had to watch our heads in room with low sloped ceilings. Wonderful breakfast, although limited number of featured muffins and guests ahead of us, resulted in shortage. Ray and Heidi could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Warm bright sitting room for breakfast. Met a fun couple from Canada to chat with. In summary, you can't go wrong with Atlantic Birches Inn.
4.2 on June 15, 2016

Heidi and Ray were both wonderful hosts to 2 tired souls from New York city. They were very helpful about things to do and places to see, friendly, but also gave us our privacy at the same time. The house is a short walk to the beach, and is conveniently located next to all of Old Orchard Beach's attractions. The rooms were clean and even though it was a full house, it was still quiet and we had no trouble sleeping. Thank you Heidi and Ray for a wonderful experience!

What an outstanding value in a great area! As we drove up the Maine coastline we were happy to find such a well kept property for such a reasonable price. The decorations were quaint and everything was very clean. Breakfast was continental but quite well done. The owners were very helpful and personable and we felt right at home.

My sister and I recently stayed at the Birches' BB and were very comfortable in our room. Slept better than we both have in our separate places/states! King bed VERY good for our older backs!...and loved the antiquity of the whole house - especially the porch! Minor suggestions - be sensitive to older folks trying to use TV to watch loved stations. NOT clear/easy. Serve breakfast at least an hour earlier - since most of your guests are probably early/older risers - hungrier earlier! Make us aware of wooden, steep steps for bringing our heavy luggage in - so we can perhaps plan for smaller haul-it-in-easier bag. VERY hard to get big luggage upstairs. Finally - REAL clear directions as to how to get where on miles and miles or wandering roads. Not everybody has/uses online maps/GPS. Otherwise - great quiet stay - close to lots of places - and good host! Thanks!

A five minute walk to the beach and the pier, but very quiet a peaceful. Ray and Heidi were very helpful with suggestions of places to eat and things to see.
4.6 on August 23, 2015
We had no idea what to expect-we wanted near Portland and I just chose a place that looked okay. Well, it was better than 'okay'. So close to the beach and shops, such friendly owners-Ray went out of his way to make suggestions as to where to eat, visit etc and all suggestions were perfect for my family of 4 with two teenage girls. We loved the pool and Ray lent us towels (also various equipment for the beach). The house was tastefully decorated and being an older style home, we had a lot of space in the room. The only drawback for us was having the bathroom outside of the room (not shared) but it didn't prove to be much of a problem and the positives far outweighed that minor issue. We loved how 'airy' the room was and although there were many other people staying, we didn't hear a peep from anyone at night. Loved the front veranda where we sat to eat our breakfast. By far, one of our favourite stays on our 8 week holiday! Reasonably priced, as well. Would recommend to anyone.

Being from Minnesota, we were anxious to learn more about lobster season, enjoy the coast and see the sites along the Maine coastline. This bed and breakfast was o.k. but had some disappointing room details and hospitality. We hit the Old Orchard Beach vacation season at its peak, and didn't realize that this was set near a "carnival-type" venue. Now, in retrospect, a quieter location would have been more suitable for our needs. The breakfast muffins and fresh fruit were outstanding and the shared space of this property was very comfortable. The bedroom was cramped and was not really suitable for 2 adults.
Thank you for your review sorry you did not enjoy your stay here at our Inn and Town. You selected the town, Inn location and you room here. There are descriptions of each of the room including the one you choose on line for the cost conscience traveler. Nowhere on our website does it say we are ocean front. Maybe you should have done more research on the location and called us for information. As for being not hospitalble not sure have you got that idea, we tend to be over hospitable and informative at times with suggestions and idea's on where to dine, places to visit, and must do things.

We've been staying here for nine years now! This is our favorite place to stay in Maine. Ray and Heidi are perfect hosts, sharing their knowledge of the area and making you feel at home. The rooms are lovingly decorated and comfortable. The fresh fruit with breakfast is fabulous. And the front porch of the Cottage is the best place to sit and relax.

My family enjoyed 3 nights at the Atlantic Birches Inn. It was a great little get away for us....plenty of things to do with the beach and activities right down the street. The innkeepers were friendly and responsive to our needs. The suite arrangement with a kitchenette was perfect for a family of 4. When it rains, the Maine Mall and cinema are nearby. My kids asked to return next summer! We may make it a new tradition!
3.8 on July 02, 2015
I stayed in the Vesper Suite with my mom and sister. It was charming with two small rooms with a kitchenette. It was a bit far from the beach -- 15 minute walk. The owner was very helpful with suggestions for restaurants. We didn't try the pool, but it looked inviting.
Thank you for your review. The Inn is located just the right distance to be away from the beach traffic, noise and congestion. It is about 100 yards from the Inn. For most guests it is just a 3 minute walk to the pier and 7 miles of white sand beach.

The house is perfectly located, off the path for quiet, but 15 min either way and you are in Portland or the beach villages. Highly recommend.

Wasn't sure what to expect as I've not stayed in B&B for many years. When we made the reservation, I didn't find the innkeepers to be very flexible but that mindset changed when I got there! Not only did the innkeepers purchase soymilk so my husband could have cereal in the morning (he is severely dairy allergic), but they were very accommodating in other ways. Great service, beautiful rooms, perfectly located between Portland and other tourist sights, near the beach, and Ray was the perfect tourist guide! He recommended back ways to lighthouses, scenic drives, good and reasonable restaurants and every recommendation was wonderful! I loved this experience and wouldn't hesitate to come back and/or recommend to our friends. THANKS so much Heidi and Ray!!!!

When I first booked this b&b, I wasn't sure about what to expect. As soon as we met Ray, we had no more doubt. He did his best to make us feel comfortable and to help us explore the area as real locals. Rooms are adorable. Breakfast great- especially for the home-made muffins. I have never had a continental breakfast at a bed and breakfast before. They had cereal, bread, and muffins. Nothing hot. Nothing homemade. The cream curdled in my coffee!
Sorry you felt that way about the breakfast and sure you even stayed here If you did I guess you didn't look on our website for a discription of our breakfast. We get up a 4:30 each morning 7 days a week to bake the 3 - 4 dozen fresh homemade muffins and about 10 lbs of fresh fruit salad daily. Where have you ever seen that a continental breakfast is hot food. You also stated we had bread. the breads we serve are either (wheat, Oat or 12 Grain bread), with english muffins and cinn raisin bread there are assorted jam,s peanut butter, cream cheese and butter along with milk and juice. Not sure what more you were looking for in a breakfast.

They were also very helpful when we asked them for information on places to go and eat. They provided a nice room with peace and quiet, and they came to clean up without us even knowing they were there. The breakfast they served there was fantastic, and they gave a lot of different choices. We would like to go back again sometime soon.

Location was great, easy walking to main street and beach. Property has lovely setting and nice house/cottage. Room was nice but crowded with decorating clutter -no room to open suitcases - no place to set things - low lighting, couldn't read in the room! Bed was comfortable - but needs new linens. Bathroom was not adequately cleaned and towels need replacing. Innkeepers were nice and helpful. Breakfast experience was okay.
Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. I wish you would have mentioned the bathroom problem, I would have liked to have seen it. As for the towels they are American made 100% cotton and are considered heavy weight at 700 GSM or grams per square meter.

The innkeepers were very helpful, though not around all that much. Nothing hot for breakfast which was a little unfortunate, but fine. Rooms were great. Don't seem to spend much on things like towels, toilet paper, etc., but for the price you pay perhaps that is what should be expected.
Sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Our website states what our breakfast consists of. As for the linens and towels the linens are 400 thread count and the towels are american made are are 100% cotton. As for us not being around not sure where you got that from one of us me or my wife are always at the inn when there are guests. Just because you didn't see us doesn't mean we are not here.

We stayed 3 nights at Atlantic Birches. The house is full of charm with a typical New England decoration. Hosts are lovely. We stayed in Abbots suite. The beds were not comfortable and we ended up all with back pains. The breakfast offers bread, muffins and fruits. I was missing eggs, ham or cheese as being Gluten intolerant I could only eat fruits.
We are sorry you did not enjoy our mattresses, they are all new and are sealy posterpedic firm. You are the first to complain about them. As for our breakfast our website clearly states what our expanded contieniental breakfast consists of. If you had mentioned that you were Gluten intolerant we would have served you gluten free muffins and cereal we are not mind readers

Great B&B to relax. Easy to walk around town and to the beach.
4.6 on October 17, 2013
We stayed there for the oct 11 weekend , in the old orchard room... 2nd floor. The room was very bright... wrap around windows and a great blue color scheme. Breakfast was as advertized; muffins, bagels, jams, creme cheese, juice, milk, cold cereal and coffee.... Ray and Heidi kept the coffee coming... it was a good breakfast for me. The inn is about a 10 min walk to the beach... 15 mins going back to the inn as it's up hill. Ray & Heidi are very personable and very good at giving suggestions and directions to area sites. OOB was not busy when we were there... in the summer, with an additional 60,000 people, finding the Inn's driveway could be a problem... call Ray and ask him for direction to the inn and some helpful landmarks.. Ray is very good at that.

When I stayed in the seashore room, it was very cute, but there was a noise when the heat came on that woke me up several times. When I looked in the guest book in the room, others had also mentioned the noise. Cannot regulate the temp in the room, it is locked. Nice breakfast with fruit, muffins, cereals, etc. There were different muffins daily that were okay.

The Inn is quaint/charming as you'd expect to find in New England. The proprietors are on hand to handle any issues and Ray was great with directions, restaurant suggestions and a ready smile. Didn't have breakfast there but had to rate dining for this to process. There were a few too many knick knacks in the room for my needs, but the room was clean. As I have an allergy to dust, this was important. The parking lot is behind the inn and one needs to walk to the front for entry. Easy access to town and to Portland.

We spent 3 nights at the Atlantic Birches as we were in Old Orchard Beach visiting a cousin. The room was as advertised. The big disappointment was the breakfast. It was merely store-bought muffins, fresh fruit, coffee & juice left in the kitchen. We have stayed at many B&B's here and in England and have never had such mediocre fare served. Even continental breakfasts always featured homemade breads or pastries and an appearance by the host at breakfast.
We serve breakfast to over seventy couples and families a week and have never had a complaint about the quality of breakfast items served. Our day starts at 4:30am each morning to prepare the continental breakfast that we to serve our guests each morning. We serve a continental breakfast and it is clearly stated what the breakfast consists of on our website. The breads we serve are 100% stone ground whole wheat or 12 Grain or Oat Nut and Cinnamon Raisin bread and are all (Pepperidge Farm), the English Muffins are Thomas’s and are store bought. The bagels are N.Y. Style brand bagels that are par baked fresh each morning and cannot be purchased in a store. The fruit salad is made fresh daily not premade from a jar. The cereals served are Kellogg’s corn flakes and General Mills cheerios not store brands. We are very sorry you did not like the muffins they are not store bought and they are baked fresh daily with fresh fruit ingredients, no preservatives, no oil and they are made from scratch. As for me not making an appearance it is very difficult and hectic running an Inn while seeing and chatting with every guest each morning. It is not like each guest comes down and has breakfast at a set time. I try to visit the cottage a couple of times each morning. If you felt it was that important to see and chat with me, guests are always welcome to come over to the main house and talk and chat with me about things to do and places to see and eat.

I was looking for a B 'B on the ocean. ABI indicated on their website that the ocean was visible from a particular room. It was disappointing that it wasn't, although the beach was only about a 4 block walk away.

Ray and Alison checked us in and gave us dining advise for that evening which we took advantage of. We were very pleased with our room upstairs in the cottage next door to the main house. The nautical theme and decorating were so pleasing. The breakfast included fresh fruit and melons and delicious homemade muffins each morning. The beach is a short walk away. We would heartily recommend this B&B.

I stayed at Atlantic Birches Inn over labor day weekend. I couldn't believe how affordable it was, especially when I saw the location. You are a 5 minute walk to the pier, beaches, amusement park, etc. Yet, it's still far enough away to be quiet. My only complaints were that the bed was hard as a rock and the breakfast left something to be desired. It was only a continental breakfast with nothing special. Otherwise it was charming.

The cottage is very well located. the rooms are small but well appointed. Perfect if you like the new england style. The suites are large and very well equipped. All rooms seem renovated. Thank's for everything Heidy and Ray!

My daughter, 7 year old grandson and myself enjoyed a wonderful stay at this B&B! We booked one of the cottages which was very comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. We had a couple of beautiful days to enjoy the pool. My grandson was so excited there was a pool! The staff was very helpful and extremely accommodating. We will definitely return every year to the Atlantic Birches Inn!

My husband and I found an ad in Yankee Magazine for this Charming Inn. The accomodations were perfect. The efficiency in the cottage next to the main house was adorable, clean, tastefully decorated in seaside cottage decor, and it was within walking distance to everything Old Orchard offers. It was also a great center point for our day trips to Newburyport, Ogunquit, Cape Elizabeth and Portland. The owners were friendly and provided us with great tips on the best scenic drives and best lobster ever! I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys being near the ocean, close to the clamor and fun of the amusement park and Pier, or wants a great jumping off place to visit Southern Maine.
5 on August 27, 2013
We had a lovely stay and truly enjoyed Ray's hospitality and guidance. Each morning at breakfast we had wonderful conversations with the other guests while we ate the fresh baked muffins. We loved the way the house was restored and decorated. Wouldn't hesitate to go back or recommend to others.

We were very pleased with the Atlantic Birches - the rooms were comfortable and well appointed; the bathroom was spotless. The house has a very nice pool, which is unusual in the world of B&B's. The inn is about two blocks from the beach and pier - enough distance from the main street hubub, but within easy walking distance of all of Old Orchard Beach's attractions. The hosts were friendly and helpful in recommending excellent restaurants and activities, and the continental breakfast offerings were fine - fresh baked muffins every morning. The next time our travels take us to OOB, we will definintely stay here.

Since we usually stay in kennebunkport , this was a step out for us---- a very pleasant one!!!!! The inn was so comfortable, hosts were fantastic. It was all I had wished for and more ---- what a celebration of life. Thank you so much ray for accommodating us by moving us and allowing us that extra nite. Sophia wants to return again with her mom and dad - as do we!!!!! Thank you!!!

This bed and breakfast disappointed us. The reviews spoke of friendly hosts, but that is not how we felt. We never met the wife, and the husband seemed to constantly be watching us. The breakfast was very limited, muffins, juice, coffee and two generic breakfast cereals. It did not meet our expectations for a breakfast that would be included at a "bed and breakfast". However, the room we stayed on was beautiful!
Sorry you didn't get to meet my wife. She works full time during the week and is here evenings and weekends. As for the breakfast not sure you where you ate, every breakfast alos has fresh made seasonal fruit salad and breads which is English Muffins, Fresh baked bagels and either Oat or 12 grain bread the cereals are General Mills Cherrios and Kellogg's corn flakes which we feel is a healthy choice and the most common cereal consumed. As for me watching over I am sorry you felt that way, as an InnKeeper every morning during breakfast I make sure I talk with every guest and help them plan thier daily itinerary suggesting places to visit and things to see during thier trip.

I picked the Atlantic Birches to stay for my son and myself because it was within walking distance to the Old Orchard Beach and the reviews were great, the reviews were a little off. This place is outstanding, the owners are very friendly and welcomed us like we were family. Even took the time to light up their case of collectibles that caught my son's attention. .. that was priceless! We plan on making this a yearly trip and will definitely stay there again. Thank you for a fabulous time, sincerely Stacy from Ct :)

I thought the Atlantic Birches Inn was a great little getaway from New York. It is a short walk to the beach and town, and is in a convenient location. From the porch, you can sit and eat breakfast in peace, watching the town slowly wake up after sunrise. I had a pleasant stay.

There are two buildings on the property that have rooms. We stayed in the cottage. The rooms and the bathrooms are generously sized. The continental breakfast included fresh fruit, muffins, toast, bagels, cereal, OJ, coffee. Nice place to stay as long as you stay away from crowed Old Orchard Beach.

This was a lovely place to stay. There was a lot of space to sit outside, whether on the porch, gardens or by the pool. Breakfast was superb - fresh fruit salad and muffins. The owners were very helpful and the main street was just across the road. Very good value for money and a lovely atmosphere.

As usual, Ray and Heidi made our visit to OOB memorable. We plan to rent rooms in the Cottage every year! Far enough away from the crowds, too! Spotless rooms and great muffins, fruit and coffee in the mornings. Perfect for us and our son!

The inn keepers were wonderful, they knew the area and were able to give directions and suggestions of places to see/go. The inn has a warm atmosphere and was quiet at night. Each room was air conditioned (especially helpful with 95 degree temps), The pool was clean and bright. Breakfasts were great - homemade muffins every morning with fresh fruit, juices, bagels, breads, coffee. Will definitely go back again when the tourist season is not so busy.

We spent a weekend in July at the Atlantic Birches Inn. The proprietors, Ray and Heidi were friendly and helpful in their recommendations for dining and activities. Our room was not large, but was lovely, The only caveat would be not to book the Gables Room if anyone staying there is fairly tall, as the bed is situated under the slanted ceiling. The location is excellent, just a short walk down the hill to the main street and the pier/beach.

This was a beautiful B&B and maybe the best, most well decorated that we've stayed in! You get the feeling like you are the first one to stay in your room. This is for those who do not want a TV in your room, although there is one in the common area. It was not a hot breakfast, but it was very good. We heard no other guests and got a good night's rest on our long trip through the northeast.

This B & B was very nice and quiet, easy to find and right at the end of the main street. It was a quarter of a mile walk to the beach and amusement park. Two things could have been better. The breakfast was a bare bones continental breakfast. We were there at the end of September and ther was no heat in the room.
Sorry to hear that you found some items that could have been better. You have stated that we are a quarter of a mile from the beach we are about a 2 minute walk to the beach which is about 150 yards sorry there is nothig we can make better than that. As for the heat in the room it is set at 68 degrees, if you felt that is was chilly you could have contacted us and we would have turned it up. The contiental breakfast is Coffee, teas, juices, milk, cereals, various breads, fresh fruit salad and daily made fresh muffins. Nowhere on our ad here or on our website do we mislead where our location is or what our breakfast consists of.

We didn't get the room that we reserved online, but were offered our 2nd choice, which was a wonderful room as well. We were both very impressed with the detail in decorating! There was not a hot breakfast, but it was adequate. There was no TV in the bedroom, but the main common area did have one, so that was satisfactory. The other guests were quiet and that was very much appreciated! We enjoyed our stay!

We only stayed one night in this B&B in late September, but it was delightful. We stayed in the cottage. It is so charmingly decorated. We enjoyed sipping our wine on the front porch lounge chairs before a short walk for dinner to a restaurant recommended by the owner. Breakfast was continental style but they offered tasty muffins, fresh cut up fruit, breads, cereal, coffee, tea and juice. Very good value. This would be an excellent place to stay with a family with the beach, shops. and amusement park nearby, and pool on the property,

Although the breakfast was continental, all the items appeared to be store bought. We were under the impression that a B & B would provide home baked items. Also, the soups, etc were not replaced on a daily basis. We had to go out and purchase shampoo, conditioner and soup.
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you were not happy with the breakfasts that we serve here at the Inn. We serve breakfast to over seventy couples and families a week and have never heard a complaint about the quality of breakfast items served. Our day starts at 5am each morning to prepare the continental breakfast that we to serve our guests each morning. We serve a continental breakfast and it is clearly stated on our website what the breakfast consists of. The wheat bread is 100% stone ground whole wheat and is a major brand (Pepperidge Farm), the English Muffins are Thomas’s are store bought. The bagels are N.Y. Style brand bagels that are par baked fresh each morning and cannot be purchased in a store. The fruit salad is made fresh daily not premade from a jar. The cereals served are Kellogg’s corn flakes and General Mills cheerios not store brands\labels. We are very sorry you did not like the muffins they are not store bought they are baked fresh daily with fresh fruit ingredients, no preservatives, no oil and they are made from scratch with a high end mix (Krusteaz). As for the bathroom amenities we do not replace them daily, but we will replace them upon request. We find that most guests bring their own favorite shampoos, conditioners and soaps.

We loved our stay at the Atlantic Birches and plan on going back. It is a short walk to the beach and many restaurants. The owners were very helpful and recommended some great places to eat and see. It was a quiet place and very comfortable. We stayed in the room with the bathroom in the hallway in the main house and it worked out fine. We loved having a glass of wine on the front porch at night- it was very relaxing. Our only regret was that we did not stay longer.

Stayed in the Fiske room. VERY comfortable king bed. Room and bathroom were clean. Room and hallway smelled heavily of cheap air perfumes or potpourri. Bath towels were poly-cotton blend. Very close to boardwalk (good location!). Breakfast was a major disappointment: they claim to provide "fresh home made muffins"...either they cannot bake or, as I suspect, the muffins were picked up at the local Walmart/Costco. Breakfast included: coffee and tea (low quality teas), bread aisle bagels, English muffins and sliced bread, a selection of pasty and clearly not homemade muffins, corn flakes and cheerios and a fruit salad. No yoghurt, nothing home cooked. Fruit salad was good, no issues there. Would not stay here again because it was overpriced considering the low quality breakfast.

The house was well maintained and clean. Missed tv in room only had an old tv in living area. Extremely small shower. No extras. Continental only breakfast. Walking distance to beaches.
No where is it stated that there is TV's in the rooms and that the breakfast in both buildings is anything more than a continental breakfast that consists of coffee, teas, juices, cold cereals, fresh made muffins, bagels, toasting bread, english muffins, jams, peanut butter, cream cheese, butter and fresh fruit salad. As for the old TV downstairs in the living room that is its orginal cabinet that goes with the decor of the livingroom and the television componentin it has been rebuilt and is a HD TV with over 200 hundred cable stations, don't judge a book by its cover. As for the shower being small it is a regular sized shower for one person. Not sure what extras you were looking for.

My partner and I, my sister, brother in law, 2 grown nephews and 1 neice stayed in The Abbott suite, Lafayette Suite and The Velvet. Most of us had never stayed in a B&B before and everyone reported enjoying the experience very much. All rooms and baths were very clean. The Abbott suite where I stayed is 2 attic rooms (partially sloping ceilings) with a shared bath. The Abbott rooms and shower are a little small for big people - better for average size people or a couple with children. However we were comfortable there other than the shower being a little small. The Velvet and Lafayette suite are both good size. The continental breakfast included coffee, tea, juice, milk, two cereals, bagels, english muffins, toast, very nice fresh fruit bowl everyday and delicious fresh baked muffins. I initially booked us there based on price (good value) and it turned out to be a perfect place for my extended family. The inn keepers, Ray and Heidi were very nice and friendly - we followed their dining recommendations for Joseph's By The Sea (upscale and just great for a special birthday) and The Rising Tide (great value and perfect). We made last minute plans to go to the beach for two days and while I was looking for something on the beach, we were fortunate to find a vacancy at the Atlantic Birches Inn, named for the beautiful Atlantic Birch trees that grace the front lawn and shade the wrap-around porch. I am partial to Victorian architecture and this lovely 1904 house with its period antiques did not fail to please. I slept in a Victorian wrought iron bed as a child so the bed in the Alberta room brought back happy memories of my grandmother's home. The hosts are welcoming and accomodating to special requests. The inn is a few minutes walk from the Old Orchard Beach Pier and we were able to leave the car at the inn and walk to the beach, shops, restaurants, and amusement park. For those who don't like to swim in the ocean the inn has a pool. Our room was clean, comfortable and air conditioned. The porch is the perfect place to wind down before bed after a long day of play, and in the morning have your morning coffee and continental breakfast there. I would not hesitate to go back to the Atlantic Birches Inn.

Quiet area but within walking distance to the shops, restaurants and beach. We were greeted and shown to our room with a friendly smile and all our questions were answered and recommendations were given. The room we were in was very clean, a little small with the slanted ceiling, but we knew that when we booked. The breakfast was light and not what you typically get at a B&B, but again we knew that when we booked. All in all it was perfect for us and would stay again.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The Inn was neat and clean, the keepers knowlegable about the local area and eager to share info to help the overall stay in the area. The website information was accurate and the price was affordable. We would go there again.

Excellent accommodations, great location, comfy bed! Hosts are very nice people that run a very nice B&B.

Lovely place to stay and a short walk to the beach area. Breakfast muffins were delicious! I would suggest a closer look at QC.....a lot of crumbs found on dresser in my room when checking in; rather 'weedy' in areas; area under Cottage stairwell needed raking; daily vacuuming needed in Cottage upstairs sitting area and room. It is the little things....that set apart good and best.
4.8 on July 24, 2012
The Atlantic Birches was a great place to stay. Charmingly decorated to the 'nth degree. Quiet. Great muffins and coffee. My only disappointment was Old Orchard Beach. The beach area was like a carnival. Fun if that is your thing but not what I was looking for. The B & B was great retreat to once I saw what the beach area was like. Would stay there again if in the area.

Beautiful place, lovely suite and good dining. An excellent place to have great holidays.

Had a wonderful experience. Ray holds court in the breakfast room each morning. He is full of suggestions for dining and sites to see. Would highly recommend as it's close enough to the beach but far enough away for tranquilty. The prices are reasonable for the level of care, service and consideration of their clients needs. Norm B

We had a delightful time at the Atlantic Birches Inn. The location, hospitality, service, and our room all exceeded our expectations. We stayed 3 nights in the Gables. If you're planning on spending more time in your room, then a larger room might be recommended. We didn't spend much time actually in the room, so it met our needs. Ray and Heidi were very accommodating to our needs including beach chairs and umbrella and printing our boarding passes.
2.8 on July 23, 2012
The overall experience of our stay at Atlantic Birches was lovely. We stayed in the cottage. The room was very clean and tidy, the bathroom was huge and very tastefully decorated. The only drawback with the stay was that the kitchen was very small. You had to serve yourself as Heidi would bring the continental breakfast over from the main house early in the morning. There was another couple staying in the cottage while we were there, when we came down to breakfast the kitchen got quite crowded, I would hate to imagine what it would be like if the cottage was full! Apart from that we had a lovely stay and Heidi's husband was very helpful with giving us ideas on where to go next and supplying us with maps for our journey through Maine.

How can a place so close to everything be so quiet? Well, the Atlantic Birches is just that. Last week was our third stay and my wife, son and I enjoy the convience the AB offers. We'll be back!!!

Room was small, but clean and comfortable. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed sitting out on the wide front porch at the cottage and reading. Only a 5 minute walk or so to the beach. Would stay here again.

The owners were friendly and helpful. Our room was one of the least expensive and it showed. It was quite small and we had no headroom in much of the space because we were under a slanted ceiling. I would not choose this room again. We were given only a continental breakfast which was good, but I have gotten much better in other B & Bs. The room was very clean and nicely furnished. I felt we paid too much for what we got.
5 on June 27, 2012
The innkeepers were friendly, welcoming, and very knowledgable of the places to go, see, and eat at. The continental breakfast was delicious. Homemade muffins, perfect coffee, fruit, and cereals. The room was neat, clean, and adorably decorated. The bathroom was large and the whole house was comfortable. It was like having your own little cottage for the weekend. The yard is nicely landscaped and you can walk right Old Orchard Beach. The drive to Portland and the Portland Head Light is about 25 minutes. I can't wait to go back and highly recommend it! The price is very good in comparison to local motels, hotels, and inns.

Everything was good, clean an tasteful environment, rooms and bathroom was outstanding. However breakfast was mediocre: just fruit, muffins and coffee.
We regard our guests very highly and make sure every effort is made to make their stay as enjoyable, comfortable and informative as possible. Not sure why you would consider the Cottage breakfast below as mediocre. But thanks for your feedback. Breakfast in the cottage is fresh baked muffins, coffee, teas, juices, hot Chocolate, various cold cereals (Cherrio's & Corn Flakes), milk, fresh seasonal fruit, and various breads for toasting. We learn from your reviews and take them seriously and make changes accordingly but it is not easy task to make everybody happy all the time but we do try.

This was our 3rd time staying here! We love it! Ray and Heidi are wonderful and are very friendly. Everytime we stay they let's us leave our car at the B&B after we check out so we do not have to pay to park at OOB! Breakfast ivery light, but that is what it states on their website...I am fine with a muffin for breakfast...my husband not so much. So if you like more than muffins and cereal you might not want to plan on eating here! Other than that it is a great place and very well kept!

Ray and Heidi have a wonderful B&B in Old Orchard Beach. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend their establishment to anyone. Their knowledge of the local area and attractions was very helpful. Their rooms are very clean and comfortable, and the location is perfect - close enough to the beach to enjoy it but far enough away to miss the evening noise.
4.2 on June 13, 2012
I found this B & B online and am happy to say that it was all that it advertised itself to be - and more! The location was perfect! Close enough to the 'action' of beach and shops and entertainment to walk most everywhere - but far enough away so that when you returned to the Inn you were not assaulted with noise and lights when trying to sleep! The owners were friendly and helpful as well. We have definitely added it to our 'will visit again' list!

Ray and Heidi are some of the nicest people! I'm glad to have met them. My boyfriend and I stayed in the room called "The Velvet". It was lovely room. I would've given it a 5 star, but there were a few things that needed repair. Very minor details. The home was very lovely and the breakfast was just what I needed, though my boyfriend likes more meat options. It was very well kept and, aside for minor things, very well taken care of. I grew up in an old home, so I understand how it's very hard to keep on top of all repairs at all times. They do a very good job of it. It seemed a smidge expensive, but still affordable, and what I would expect to pay for a lovely home like this. I'm glad we stayed here and will certainly want to come back in the future.

My husband and I spent two nights there. The room was awesome, so romantic and clean! In the morning, we had breakfast with the other couples staying there, and everyone was so pleasant. Breakfast was delicious, the fresh fruit was fantastic. Gourmet? No, but just the light meal you want before you dive into your day! We loved everything about our stay, and I'm booking another one as soon as I post this! :)

I would highly reccommend staying there.

My wife and I stayed at Atlantic Birches Inn for our first wedding anniversary (late October) and we had a great time there. We stayed in the Vespers Suite for 4 nights and had a very enjoyable time. The surroundings were very quaint and the solitude of the place was very relaxing. The location is excellent, too -- this cannot be emphasized enough -- and is a great distance, north and south, from all sorts of Maine attractions, and even some very nice drives down Route 1. The muffins in the morning were very tasty and the amenities in the suite were perfect for a nice little stay. The only downside was a slight lack of warm water at times, but it didn't last long and certainly wouldn't stop me from staying again at Atlantic Birches. I would like to say, too, that the value of the inn is impressive, considering other options -- so it's a great place to go if you want a bang for your buck. Ray and Heidi were extremely pleasant.

The best way to express our visit overall is to say that we were truly cared for. Significant attention to all the details of our stay was the order of the day. Ray and Heidi are truly wonderful hosts.
2.8 on October 24, 2011
This is a very nice home and the hosts are also very nice. However, for the price of the stay the breakfast was very poor. It was a snack at best and therefore should not be promoted as a B&B.
4.2 on October 20, 2011
Ray & Heidi certainly do themselves proud - a really lovely home and accommodation ! We would certainly return if the opportunity arises. The muffins in the morning are to die for - but you have to get up early as some guests are greedier as others as we found out to our disgust! You can't blame them though as they really are delicious! The rooms were very clean and comfortable and very aptly named.

Positive: Impressed by the cleanliness and attention to detail. Negative: Originally tried booking the room for 2 nights on Columbus Day weekend and our reservation was rejected to to the strict policy of a 3 night minimum on holiday weekends. While I understand they want to fill the inn for all three nights of the holiday weekend and maximize their profits, this policy is not very customer friendly and did not sit well. Other than that, everything was great!

We recently stayed at this beautiful B & B. It was a great experience. The rooms were delightful and the breakfast hit the spot! The owners were very helpful and friendly. Gave us directions and suggestions of places to go and see. Would go back again.

The Innkeepers were very friendly. They gave us insight into local places to dine and things to see. The Inn was very clean and cozy. We were given fresh muffins, coffee and orange juice every morning. The Inn is close to major highways/streets so it has easy access to other towns and cities. It is also within walking distance to the Pier and ocean.
3.2 on October 10, 2011
Our room was very small with no t.v. However, we weren't there much, so not really a problem. After staying in other B & B's it was not the plush, 4 star experience we're accustomed to. One of the reviews we read before booking stated they had fresh fruit with the muffins - this was not our experience, but I'll have to say the muffins were tasty. Overall a pretty decent experience.

This was an exceptional B&B. The room was very clean and cosy. The owners shared their plans with us, which showed us that they are continually working to improve the facility. They have been in business for 10 years, which is exceptional for a B&B. The bathroom was not part of the room, but was private and was only a short walk from the room. We enjoyed our stay and would consider this inn again for a stay in OOB.

Rooms on second floor of cottage feel closed in because only (small) window has an air conditioner and you can't see out. Home made muffins for breakfast were good but make a skimpy breakfast.
We are sorry you felt this way about the room. The Cottage guest house cannot be centraly air conditioned, that is why we install window air conditioners for the Summer months (Mid June - Mid Sept). We do still get hot hummid days in mid September. We cannot please everyone but we do try our best to accommodate all guests. I am sure if you were here on one of those hot hummid September days like today and the Air Conditioner was not installed you would have written about the lack of air conditioning and warm temerature in the room. As you can see we cannot please every guest every time, we are truly sorry for any inconvience this may have caused you on your stay.

Our stay at Atlantic Birches was great. The room was clean and the place was very quiet. Also within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. Innkeepers (well, I guess we only interacted with Ray) were very nice and helpful giving us maps and offering up suggestions on things to do and places to eat. Only major disappointment was breakfast, but then again we were just coming off a stay at another B&B where the woman made 3 course hot breakfasts every morning. I don't know which is more typical, but here they would just put out muffins, fruit, cereal, juice, etc. The stay was very nice and I would recommend to others.

I stayed in a cottage room, so things may be different for rooms in the main house. The room was lovely, spotless, and comfortable and the innkeepers were lovely and helpful. The only unpleasant aspect about the stay was the breakfast. It consisted only of muffins that, while home baked, had clearly been stored for they were tacky and some of them were undercooked. This is a great place to stay for access to the beach and shopping, but don't plan on the price including a hot breakfast if you're in the cottage.

This little Inn in Old Orchard Beach is very, very cute. The innkeepers are super friendly even in this busy time of year for them. They take time out to make certain you know where places are. We stayed the last week in July for 2 nights. The rooms are darling, the beds are smaller than stated size, but very, very comfortable. Everything is clean, neat, well-taken care of. Some of the cottage rooms are not for people over 5ft7in because of the slanted ceilings, but that was not a problem for us. The breakfast was delightful, simple-exactly the way we like it. The beach is straight out the door, across the street, down the sidewalk. It's exactly what we needed for our 2 nights. We would have stayed 3, but the place was already booked. Ray and Heidi are very kind, sweet people even with all the busy-ness around them. They enjoy their work. Thank you very much.

This was the first time staying at a B&B for my husband and I, and it was an excellent first experience. Ray the innkeeper greeted us and gave us tips on some nearby restaurants to try, then showed us to our beautiful room! We stayed in The Alberta room and it was immaculately clean! I tend to be a little fussy about the cleanliness of any hotels I stay at...this place exceeded my expectations! The bed was one of the most comfortable of any place I've stayed and the sheets were silky soft! The bed linens and towels also had a wonderful scent, don't know what kind of detergent or fabric softener they use, but it smelled great! The attention to detail in the room was very noticeable, it was beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean! They obviously take a great deal of pride in their B&B. The breakfast was exactly as it is stated on their website, fresh fruit, fresh baked muffins, bread, coffee, tea and juice, served in a very cute dining room. We felt so comfortable and relaxed staying here. Also, it's within short walking distance of the beach and Pier and all the activity, but yet far enough away that's it's very quiet and peaceful at night! I would stay here again in a second, and would recommend it to anyone! The only regret about our stay was that it wasn't for a longer time!

My wife and I had stayed for five nights at the Atlantic Birches Inn in late July 2011. From the moment we first arrived we felt we were at home. Heidi and Ray greeted us and took care of anything we through at them. Our stay was an absolute treat. The room was spacious, well decorated and immaculate. We would love to stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn again.

We have been staying in a hotel in OOB the last week in July for over 20 years with my husband's family. We did not think we would be able to attend so we didn't make a reservation. Of course our plans changed but there were no more hotel reservations available. In a last minute effort, we booked a room at the Atlantic Birches Inn. We did not know what to expect since we have never stayed at a B+B but wanted to be up at OOB. WOW! were we ever surprised and delighted! It was a wonderful stay. The Inn is beautiful and our room was right out of the victorian era. We had our own private bathroom and plenty of closet space. The room was immaculate and the beds were so comfy. Our two night stay was satisfactory...most everything was as advertised. The only detractor was that the common areas (halls, stairwell, living and dining rooms) were not air conditioned. The weather was unseasonably hot during our stay which would have made "whole house" airconditioning nice to have. Individual room window AC units made the bedrooms comfortable. We enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

I'm so glad that we selected this bed and breakfast for our stay in Old Orchard Beach. Heidi and her husband were so welcoming and helpful. Muffins were varied each day, the coffee was hot, and the tea choices were plentiful. If you are looking for a classy place just far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the beach, THIS IS IT! It was quiet and peaceful, but just a short walk to the pier. This b&b is a great choice--NO regrets!!

We just returned from a 3 night stay at the Atlantic Birches. The Abbot Suite was perfect for our family of four. My husband, son and I had our own room with 2 beds (queen and twin) and my mom had her own room with a queen bed. It was like having our own little apartment on the 3rd floor. The bathroom that adjoins the two rooms is quite spacious and there are ceiling fans as well as air conditioning. You can tell that Ray and Heidi give this inn a lot of love and attention. It is very well-kept, very clean and all of the rooms are beautiful. They do an excellent job of accommodating all kinds of travelers--families, couples, young, old, etc. Having a pool was and added bonus and my 7 year old really enjoyed it. The beach, restaurants, amusement park, etc. is no more than a 5 minute walk from the inn and Ray and Heidi gave lots of good suggestions for things we could do nearby in Portland and Freeport. Ray's restaurant picks were spot on! And the muffins at breakfast are simply divine! Our favorites were the Apple Pie and Pumpkin Chocolate Chip. We enjoyed chatting with fellow guests during breakfast or at the pool and the innkeepers create a relaxed and laid back atmosphere. Atlantic Birches is a gem and we would definitely stay there again.

We had a great family getaway at the Atlantic Birches Inn. My husband and I stayed in a cottage suite with our two daughters (8 and 6). The room was VERY clean, the layout was nice, and we appreciated that the room had a small kitchenette for our food. We LOVED the location--it was easy to walk to everything, but it was away from all the noise and congestion of the pier and beach. Our daughters LOVED the pool, too. The muffins every morning were great, but after the third day, it would have been nice to have some variety (maybe some bagels or English muffins or fruit). I would definitely recommend the Atlantic Birches to a friend; we thought it was a great value for our vacation!

My husband and I enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back again. Ray and Heidi, the innkeepers, were so nice and gave us fabulous dining recommendations. Coffee and other breakfast goodies, especially the muffins, were delicious!

What an awesome 4 night stay! Our motorcycle trailer was a bit larger than we thought but Ray had no problem making room for it and our bikes. Right from our arrival Ray and Heidi made themselves available and had fantastic dining and motorcycle route advice. The Old Orchard room was spotless, tastefully decorated in vintage wedding memorabilia, and had a great breeze with the bay windows opened. During our visit the inn was always quiet despite being a full-house. Breakfast was perfect. FRESH home made muffins and FRESH fruit and juices. Just enough to hold you over until you find a cool shack for lunch. Ray & Heidi take the time to make each guest feel important at breakfast by asking questions and offering up any tips they have. Take his advice on dinners and don't waste your time at mainstream restaurants. All in all we had a perfect stay at Atlantic Birches and can't wait to come back.

Wonderfully clean inn with a great location to the beach and Portland. Innkeeper had lots of great suggestions for things to do, along with maps and brochures of local attractions.

Ray and Heidi are very pleasant, very helpful hosts. The room was a little awkward to get around what with the low, slanted ceiling in "the Cleves". We also wished we could have opened the one window to get some of that cool Maine air in the evening, but we were happy to have the air conditioner. Very convenient location to the main drag in Old Orchard Beach and only 5-10 minute walk to the beach.

La situation est idéale dans le village, avec vue de la mer dès que l'on sort du B&B, la plage très accessible à pied de même que les resto. C'est très tranquille, très propre et les hôtes sont très disponibles. Nous y retournerons dès l'année prochaine!!!
Review rating seemed low so I translated the review Ideal location in the village, overlooking the sea as soon as we leave the B & B, beach easily accessible on foot as well as the restaurant. It is very quiet, very clean and the hosts are available. We'll be back next year!

We stopped Atlantic Birches on a trip down Maine coast; we drove down the coast to Kennebunkport, York, ... to explore the coast including light houses, rocky shores, beaches, and we returned to rest at Atlantic Birches. We slept well!

We were lucky enough to stay at the Atlantic Birches Inn in Old Orchard Beach , Maine for two days last week. We had tried to get a room in the main house but it was so popular we settled for a cottage room. What a pleasant suprise! The first night we had the lovely beach cottage almost to ourselves. The rooms were impeccably clean, with adorable seascape decor and quaint cottage touches everywhere. The owner was very friendly and helpful with attractions, directions and restaurant information. The cottage was a short distance to a great family beach and midway with rides, food, ice cream, shops and fun everywhere! The breakfast for the cottage was wonderful although a little less lavish than the main house but that was understandable and clearly stated on their website. We especially adored the pumpkin muffins and the coffee was excellent. We would go back to Old Orchard Beach again in a heart beat and gladly stay in the Atlantic Birches beach cottage again. Next time I hope to book a room in the main Victorian house which looked beautiful. You will not regret your choice if you decide to try this well-appointed B & B .

Thank you so much Ray and Heidi for a lovely home away form home weekend! You were so helpful with advise and suggestions on where to go and not to go! Your Inn was such a quaint place to relax and enjoy the company of my friends! I would absolutely recommend your place to everyone!!

This is a very nice inn, however not really a bed and breakfast. There were coffee, juice and muffins only. We loved the location and the inn keepers were very nice and helpful. The location is great, very close to pier & boardwalk.

We had a nice stay at this bed & breakfast; it was quiet, comfortable and clean. Also near the downtown area and beach - within walking distance. Only inconveniences would be there is no rear entrance to use and all parking is in the back on of the house. You have to carry all your belongings from the parking lot out back all the way around to the front of the house. There are champagne buckets in the rooms but you cannot get ice from anywhere in the house yourself - have to find innkeepers who reside in a section of the house. But despite these minor inconveniences, we did have a nice stay.

We are looking forward to spending more time at Atlantic Birches. Heidi and Ray are wonderful hosts, and we love the atmosphere of the inn.

I stayed at the Atlantic Birches Inn for my honeymoon. We stayed in the Old Orchard room which, to my surprise, was wedding themed! I didn't even plan that, and it was perfect. Heidi and Ray are really sweet folks who gave us great recommendations on authentic places to eat. I liked the location as it was near the main strip, but not right on it. Our room was quiet and calm with a quick walk to the beach and shopping. My only low rating is on the dining section because I thought the breakfast was a little skimpy compared to other B & B's where I've stayed. The breakfast is "continental" style with muffins, bagels, cereal, and fruit salad. Though I could tell it was made with love, it did leave me wanting lunch a little earlier than usual. However, as I said before, everything else was outstanding!

The location was great--short walk to the beach but away from the hustle and bustle at the beach. The room was clean and quaint--very nice. The innkeepers had great recommendations for places to see and eat. I wouldn't want to be in the area during busy season, but it was perfect during off season.

I stayed with my parents and enjoyed the beach cottage atmosphere. We were also able to walk to the beach within minutes and devoured homemade ice cream while watching the moon over the water. This inn is very easy to locate, is clean and extremely peaceful.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Atlantic Birches Inn for two night. We were very impressed with the accommodations. Ray and Heidi made us feel very welcome right from the start. The setting is beautiful, just 2 blacks from the beach. The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. We stayed in the Cottage and were fortunate to have it to ourselves so we felt like we were in our own private house. Overall we were very happy with the service and hospitality. We would definitely recommend it to anyone and if we are ever in the region again, we will certainly be staying there!

We chose the Atlantic Birches Inn because of the feel of coziness we got from looking at the photos online and we were not disappointed. Our room was very pretty and clean and the location of the B&B was ideal - we even got to renew our wedding vows on the beach!! Needless to say, we had a wonderful time during our stay...and yes, the homemade muffins are delicious :)

Clean well kept rooms. Friendly advice from owners. Please note there are no hair dryers in the rooms, so you will need to bring your own. Also breakfast is served light with tasty muffins, coffee, tea and OJ. Close walk/access to the beach without being in the trall of people.
We are sorry that we do have hair dryers in the rooms we have found that most guests do bring their own hair dryers and as for the guests that have left or forgotten their hair dryers at home we do supply them upon request. As for the light breakfast served in the Cottage house the breakfast is clearly stated (coffee, tea’s juices and fresh baked gourmet muffins) on our website and confirmation letter. There is a kitchen area for those that what to bring there own breakfast favorites.

My wife and I stayed a couple of nights in the cottage this fall. Ray and Heidi made us most welcome and gave plenty of advice on what to see and where to eat. The decor in the cottage is very cosy and beautifully themed to its coastal location. Only disappointment was the breakfast, Heidi bakes the most splendid muffins but those and a cup of thermos coffee was all that was on offer, no cereal, friut or toast options. There were facilities to self cater but this was not an option we were prepared for. All considered we would stay again.

We stayed in The Old Orchard Room which was very nice and roomy. The shower was a bit small, especially for a pregnant lady!! The Inn was very clean and the breakfast was good. The owners were very pleasant and very helpful-they recommended some great places to eat. It was not as extravagantly decorated as some Inn's can be, which we liked. We would have liked a TV in the room but there was one available in the common room. We would definitely recommend this Inn.
3.8 on September 27, 2010
The innkeepers were friendly and extremely helpful. They provided good information about attractions in the area and even a gave us a free pass to one of them. The interior of the facility was lovely, however, the exterior could use some sprucing up especially the landscape maintenance. While we were not affected, I think it is important to note that at least one of the rooms did not have a bathroom in the room. It was designated for occupants of that room but was down the hall. I would not have been happy if I had been assigned that room. The only minor disappointment was the breakfast provided. It was fairly meager compared to our experience in other B&Bs.

Innkeeper was extremely friendly and very knowledgeable of the area. Presented a delicious breakfast which consisted of homemade muffins, bagels, English muffins, toast, cereal, juice, coffee, tea, hot chocolate. Very much above your average continental breakfast. In ground pool was also a plus.

Ray was very helpful and knowledgeable. Great choice!

Only wish we could have stayed longer...my husband and I would love to return and have already recommended the Atlantic Birches to friends.

My husband and I spent Memorial Day weekend at the Atlantic Birches and we are so glad we did. The hosts, Ray and Heidi, were very friendly, informative and extremely knowledgeable about the area. Our room was spectacular, as were all the others that I had seen! Our breakfasts were yummy, the muffins were to die for, and the dining room always had such interesting people to talk to. It was so close to all the shops, restaurants and "happenings" that made it so convenient. We loved our stay and intend to get back there as soon as possible. I give them kudos on such a nice place to spend a long weekend!!

My wife and took our 1st "only us" vacaiton since our kids were born, and we chose this inn based on iloveinns.com. We couldn't have made a better choice! Ray and Heidi were excellent hosts and made our stay wonderful. Ray noticed my wife having a glass of wine on the porch one night, went inside and came back with a glass of wine he likes (which was excellent per my wife) and even told us where could find it. Their recommendations of places to eat were spot on. We will definitely be back!!
