I go to this place regularly since 20 years. I love the quietness, even more so off season, but the forest , the sea near by and the village we can walk to is great. There is a sense of spirituality on the ground, a loving feeling of care and sharing.

The property is beautiful and adfords a peaceful setting away from the activities of the nearby village which is a short walking distance. There are single and double rooms in the Main Bldg and apartment accommodations in separate "housing" on this former estate. We had a lovely three bedroom apartment with a small living room that had a refrigerator and a microwave. It was spotless and reasonabe in price. You can walk the grounds and sit outside in the good weather. They are open year round and prices vary according to the "day" of the week and the "time" of the year. WE found it reasonable compared to other nearby motels.

I didn't know what to expect, although having been to retreat places, I had a little bit of an idea. My friend and I enjoyed the peacefulness of the place, the view to the Monastery from our window. The people at the front desk were friendly and most helpful. It is so well situated, near the town to go visit and shop and so near to the beach for a walk. We loved the breakfast. More than a continental breakfast most B&B offers, and for a few dollars more, you get even more! The room was nice and clean, beds comfortable. A real nice quiet place to spend a few days away to rest and enjoy discovering Kennebunk and Kennebunkport. We thought we had left the world behind us.

We did not know exactly what to expect. Despite an initial issue associated with the basic nature of the room, the time here was well spent and very enjoyable. We definitely would return. Since the monastery is on site attendance at morning Mass seemed like the natural thing to do, and we did. The guesthouse is separate from the monastery so members of any faith can feel equally welcome. The grounds are spacious and there is an inground pool which offers a nice respite at the end of the day. All in all, this was a very enjoyable and peaceful time. If you want to get out and about, the town of Kennebunk is a 10 minute walk away and Kennebunkport is a minute or so more across a bridge. Don't miss this peaceful place.

Situé à mi-chemin du port de Kennebunk et de sa plage, nous avons pris l'habitude d'y retourner à chaque été. Qualité-prix exceptionnelle. Calme et sécuritaire !

My husband and I stayed 4 nights at the Guest House recently and found it a perfect place to stay. We were able to walk to the lower village and it was close to the beach where we started and every day. The staff was very friendly, the breakfast exceptional. The grounds were lovely and we enjoyed walking around them and visiting the chapel. We would highly recommend staying here if you're in the area.

The grounds here are lovely though you may want to take advantage of the bug spray on the front porch before heading out. I stayed in the main building. Decor a bit dated (my room had 70's style wood panelling through out!), but the bed was very comfortable. Shower hot and powerful - what I needed after a day of cycling. BTW, I was offered the use of basement to lock my bicycle overnight. Note, the guesthouse has several amenities but asks for donations (e.g. $0.50 for coffee or tea in the lobby, $1.00 to use the computer, $3.00 to add hot items to breakfast) so bring the correct change. I would stay here again.

I have stayed here three years in a row. The salt water pool is sublime and not crowded--nicer than one at much more expensive hotel we stayed at-- Breakfast is great--and the bathroom is on par with any other hotel bathroom. Decor of rooms is in line with the great bargain this place is. The roms are clean, clean and clean and the location can't be beat. A great value!

My husband and I enjoyed the salt water pool, being able to walk to the beach (although a car permit is given) and the helpfulness of the front desk people. Our 2 bed room was clean and had a beautiful view of the monastery. I would definitely stay again. Close to the town for shopping and restaurants.

My girlfriend and I just returned from a long July 4th weekend in Kennebunkport, Maine, not far up from Boston along the coast of Maine. We were lucky to stay at the Franciscan Guest House because of its beautiful seaside grounds, nice staff, reasonable rates, hearty breakfast, and nearness to both the beach and the center of Kennebunkport. We liked it so much that before leaving we made a reservation to return this Labor Day weekend, Friday, September 3, 2010!

This place is a treat -- and retreat. The wooded grounds are lovely for strolls, the beds comfortable and the rooms dorm-room plain but clean and adequately equipped. The breakfast includes a half-dozen types of home made pastries. Very serene, despite central Kennebunk/port location. I would like to return in the summer and use the pool.
