Rooms: If you enjoy an European/Victorian aesthetic, then this may be your "cup of tea". The duvet, drapes and decorative pillows are dated. The carpet in the room does need to be deep cleaned or replaced at a minimum. The "Ac" is a portable standing unit and functions well enough, but is not pleasing to view or to listen to at night. The "fire place" inserts are a nice touch for atmosphere but a bit out of place. It did provide some heat and ambiance. The "tub"(Jacuzzi) is very dated with the white caulking molding cracking. In general, the room appearance is not what I go for and I should have paid closer attention to the photos provided by the establishment on line. The photos are an accurate representation of the accommodations. Service:The kitchen help was excellent to prepare a basic hot breakfast. Desk help was a bit odd and scattered but pleasant with very good attempts to be helpful and attentive. Value: In my opinion, 50% over price. I have stayed at 4-5 star for $500-1000 a night so when I pay $300-400/ night here, it is too much. I would rate this a 3 star property. Cleanliness- Acceptable. Our room was clean. The bedding was fresh and odor free. The carpet was vacuumed but has old stains so replacing carpeting throughout the facility would be refreshing. The common area was clean, as was the kitchen area. Our bath area was clean but also dated and needs updating and remodeling. Onsite Dining- Adequate and no complaints for a basic "hot" breakfast. They offer eggs, omelets, bacon, french toast, sausage links as hot items (no pancakes, waffles). Odd reservation/refund/cancellation policy-Make sure that this is your kind of place to stay because the owner makes it very clear that No refund will be given if you cancel your reservation. She will offer you a voucher with no expiration to return so you can "use" your money and not lose your payment. However, I wouldn't be interested in a return visit.

We had great expectations and unfortunately none were met. The property looks nice from the pictures ... needs a lot of work. Their were bugs in our room, no tissues, no face soap, mold in the shower, no make up mirror, burnt out light bulbs. The attention to detail was lacking. Breakfast was confusing, we didn't know that we would have to find the cook to place our food order, the process was not discussed and we waited 30 minutes for our eggs, and to top it off the order was not correct.

Cynthia was a Godsend when my family needed a place to stay while my family member was hospitalized. She worked with me to find the best accommodations for my mother and my brother. She reorganized reservations on-the-spot to help us. The Inn was tranquil and relaxing. We would definitely visit again.

We heard about this special Bed an Breakfast from a co-worker 5 years ago and they were very pleased with their stay and had the Best breakfast and classy scenery along with a live pianist. This was my second visit to the Columbia Inn at Peralynna and once again it did not disappoint. The owner's grandson greeted me on my arrival and was extremely personable. My room was lovely and breakfast was a delight. I highly recommend this delightful gem of a B&B.

Overall, our stay at the Columbia Inn was pretty nice. The building is beautiful, the room was nice, and service at the beginning was attentive. Food in the morning was also good. The negative part of the experience was the fact that housekeeping walked into our room FOUR times while we were in bed or using the restroom - 3 times before standard checkout at 11, and once more before our delayed checkout (which had been approved by management) at noon. The interruptions made the stay pretty stressful, and management needs to address it. Otherwise, the stay was enjoyable.

The staff is absolutely incredible. It's a beautiful and very comfortable place to stay. I am delighted that I found it as I had been staying at the chain hotels in Columbia when I come up on business. This is considerably nicer. One of the great things is that each room is different - all are very comfortable - and the staff is incredible (bears repeating!)

The C suite is our Presidential Suite and is the largest of the Royal Suites. This second floor suite features a large soaring turreted ceiling, two balconies, two sofas in the living area with a large fireplace, flat screen TV, dining area and wet bar. The bath features a shell shaped two-person Jacuzzi, seated steam room/ shower and private dressing room with a massage area. This suite also includes independent heat and air conditioning system. This suite is located on the second floor - (the Inn does not have elevators yet) and has large picture windows and high ceilings. The balcony is north & South facing and overlooks the 1100 acre sheep farm. We offer a hot breakfast made-to-order as well as a continental breakfast option. All rooms are based on double occupancy and that there is a $65 per person charge for each additional guest.

From Baltimore, at I-95, go south for approximately 8 miles. Exit at Route 175, toward Columbia. Stay on Route 175 until the exit for Route 29. Take Route 29 north until the next exit, which will be Route 198. Take Route 108 West for 2.5 miles. We are on the left hand side of the road, just before Elliot"s Oak Rd. If you reach the Veterinarian's, make a u-turn and go back a 100 yards!

We like to have our house filled with music, fun and stimulating discussion. David will regale you with our genealogy & Cynthia can share her experiences in designing Peralynna, basing it on a home she had lived in, in Europe. Our son, Brandon, was the builder of this 22,0000 sq. ft. building, at age 22. He was a child prodigy with no formal training, and impressed every inspector & engineer working with him, with his innate abilities, skills & decisive management style. We are still in awe!

BERRIES IN A CLOUD 3 egg whites 1 tsp vanilla ¼ tsp cream of tartar 1 cup granulated sugar ½ cup finely chopped almonds, toasted 1 3-oz package cream cheese, softened ½ cups packed brown sugar ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder 2 tbsp milk ½ teaspoon vanilla 1 cup whipping cream 3 cups fresh whole strawberries, stems and caps removed 2 oz semisweet chocolate, cut up 2 tsp shortening Let egg whites stand at room temperature for 30 minutes. Cover a baking sheet parchment paper. Draw a 9 inch circle on the paper; set aside. In a large mixing bowl combine egg whites, 1 tsp vanilla, and cream of tartar. Beat with electric mixer on medium speed till soft peaks form. Gradually add granulated sugar, 1 tbsp at a time, beating on high speed till very stiff peaks form and sugar is almost dissolved. Fold in almonds. Spread over circle drawn on paper, building sides up taller than center to form a shell. Bake in a 300 degree oven for 45 minutes. Turn off oven; let meringue dry in oven with door closed at least 1 hour (do not open oven door). Remove from oven. Lift Meringue and carefully peel off paper; transfer to a serving platter. (Or store in an airtight container overnight.) For cocoa mousse, in a small mixing bowl beat cream cheese and brown sugar till smooth. Add cocoa powder, milk, and the ½ tsp vanilla; beat till smooth. In another chilled, small mixing bowl beat whipping cream with chilled beaters of an electric mixer on medium speed to soft peaks; fold into cocoa mixture. Carefully spoon cocoa mousse into the meringue shell. Press whole berries, stem side down, into the mousse. In a heavy small sauce pan melt semisweet chocolate and shortening over low heat, stirring constantly. Drizzle over berries, filling and meringue. Serve immediately, or cover and chill filled meringue for up to 2 hours. To serve cut into wedges, dipping knife into water between cuts. Serves 10.
