The Mansion House

4436 Bayside Road Public Landing, Snow Hill, MD 21863 USA (Show map)

The Mansion House is a lovely historic waterfront planter's residence located in the Eastern Shore village of Public Landing. Individually listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Mansion House overlooks a broad expanse of Chincoteague Bay with Assateague Island looming in the distance. Built in 1834 by landowner and Judge Ara Spence, the Mansion House has been carefully restored to its original charm and beauty. The four guest rooms at the Inn are uniquely decorated with just the right combination of comfort and style, all with private bath, fireplace, queen bed and Swedish Pressure Relieving Mattress. We also offer the lovely waterfront Sunset Cottage situated on Pawpaw creek, fully equipped, with 2 bedrooms & 1 1/2 baths, screened porch and private pier (breakfast at the inn optional). Begin your stay with afternoon refreshments and awake to a full gourmet breakfast served in the dining room. Guests are invited to socialize in the great room, curl up with a good book in the parlor, or simply relax on one of our spacious porches. Enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the Chincoteague Bay or a moonlight stroll along the waterfront. Escape from life's hectic pace and surround yourself in the warmth and comfort of The Mansion House.

Quiet Retreat with a view

5 on July 09, 2017

This B&B is a unique experience and a comfortable retreat away from the usual hustle & bustle of everyday life. The hosts were welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. When we visited the art galleries and the restaurants in Snow Hill, each of the owners knew the B&B proprietors quite well and complimented them. The breakfasts were extremely well done, Pinterest-perfect, and VERY tasty each day...exactly what you'd expect from a French-trained chef cooking with local-sourced food. My personal favorite was the fresh-herb and goat cheese omelet...the herbs were snipped from the kitchen garden! Another day there was a nectarine tart with a tender flaky oh man was it soo good. The house is really interesting, and it has some unique history. The beds are Thermarest mattresses, with a nice balance of soft/firm. We didn't hear the guests in the neighboring room unless they were entering/leaving their room and the door latch caught. The Mansion House is pet-friendly, but only one dog in the house at a time (for the 4 rooms)'ll need to call ahead to ensure that is the case before you make plans. The retreat setting sets this B&B apart from others we've visited. It is away from town, yet isn't a far drive from either Chincoteague, Berlin, and Ocean City. The countryside farm setting is so beautiful, and this was a truly refreshing place to visit. We plan to visit again and again on a regular basis...we loved it.

Fantastic B&B - Can't Wait to Visit Again

My husband and I stayed here last week and had a wonderful time - This was our first stay at a bed and breakfast and they definitely set the bar high! The room was beautiful and our view was AMAZING. We were a little early in the season, so we had the place pretty much to ourselves, and we felt like we were welcome guests in their house. First off, we were invited to help ourselves to a drink from their piano bar and got a tour of the house. It's an amazing house with an interesting history. We learned a lot about the area and got great dinner and entertainment recommendations. Whatever we needed or asked about, the innkeepers looked it up or got it for us. They were fantastic. Breakfasts were phenomenal- seriously. We were allowed to borrow their bicycles and kayaks - pretty much felt like we had rented the whole house, not just a room. Even though the weather wasn't perfect our entire stay, we found fun things to do and had a truly wonderful and relaxing time. Will definitely visit again.
