I tried to rate several of the categories above as outstanding, but the site would not allow me to click the last dot! From the moment that we walked into the Inn at Bay Ledge, we were transported to a world of peace and beauty. The property overlooks the Bay and from our terrace we were able to sit outside and watch the water which always makes me calm. The innkeepers, Jack and Jean, are terrific--attending to one's every need. The back porch is a beautiful place to eat the delicious breakfast and also to just sit and read. It was wonderful to be outside the hubbub of downtown Bar Harbor and it's traffic and congestion. One of the main entrances to Acadia Park is just down the road and makes it easy to visit the park. Our room was immaculate, large and beautifully decorated, with adequate closet space and a jacuzzi tub in the bathroom. What a pleasure to be here. When we return to Bay Ledge we will stay here again

Everything about our stay at The Inn at Bay Ledge was fabulous. The accommodations, the food, and the view were all fabulous. The owners and staff made us feel at home immediately upon our arrival. We could not of asked for a better place to have stayed in Bar Harbor. We will definitely be back!

My favorite Inn

4.8 on September 03, 2018

We stayed here for the second time. It is like staying with your favorite relatives.. The location peaceful yet accessible to everywhere on Mt Desert Island We still went to a few places in Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor and NortheayHarbor. We hiked Acadia about every day. The Inn has a delicious breakfast and comfortable furnishings. They have a large porch and yard for your enjoyment and a view of Frenchman’s Bay. Jack and Jeanne are very hospitable and you will be very pleased with your choice. We prefer to stay in the main house.

Perfect Maine Get-a-Way

4.0 on September 03, 2018

We stayed 10 days at the Inn at Bay Ledge and had a relaxing, interesting, fun time. Jack and Jeanie were friendly hosts who made us feel welcome and comfortable. Our room well-appointed and super clean. Kudo's to the behind-the-scenes staff! We enjoyed breakfast on the porch, walks along the beach at low tide, dips in the pool, curling up in the hammock with a good book, and sitting on the lawn and looking at the stars at night. We explored Acadia Park and the town of Bar Harbor, both were only minutes away. Highly recommend.

Beautiful location with outstanding outdoor dining and views!

We loved staying at this B & B. The owner was charming, gave us tips on where to find the best lobster, and overall was a wonderful experience. Their porch overlooking Frenchman's Bay is absolutely gorgeous! We ate our breakfast there each morning.

Will definitely return and highly recommend this Inn!

A Wonderful Place to Stay

5 on August 30, 2018

Gracious and attentive hosts, beautiful and delicious breakfasts and afternoon goodies, well appointed and serviced rooms. Our group of 16 spent six nights at The Inn at Bay Ledge and everyone loved it! We gathered around the breakfast tables or on the spacious porch but still had the privacy of our own rooms. My husband and I loved the Bear Cottage! And we all loved exploring the beach below the Inn. I’d give it 10 stars if the survey went that high! Thank you Jack, Jeanne & their awesome staff!

Excellent Location, Great Folks!

Not only is Inn at Bay Ledge exquisitely appointed and in a serene wooded setting on Frenchman Bay, the hospitality Jack and Jeani provide is unequalled. Jeani makes healthy and delicious breakfasts served by a friendly, well-trained assistant. The setting and service is unsurpassed. R&L August 2018

Third stay and continue to give a big Thumbs Up!

5 on August 25, 2018

After trying a number of other options in the Bar Harbor area, we have now completed our third stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge. Jack and Jean are welcoming hosts, serving a lovely breakfast and making guests feel comfortable. Their staff is friendly, helpful and the location and grounds speak for themselves. For those who want to go into Acadia and/or Bar Harbor, the location is great, yet is serene and feels far from the crowds when you are sitting on the porch, in the garden, or when you take the stairs down to the ocean. We look forward to returning next year.

Peaceful, friendly,Quintessential inn —-lovely gardens/nature and on the water with amazing breakfast.

They end has both rooms and cottages nestled in Pinetrees and also on the water. It is extremely peaceful and away from the crowds. The owners and staff are extremely friendly but also leave you alone if you need to be at peace. Warm cookies and pastries and tea in the afternoon with amazing hearty practices every day. The rooms are immaculate and the beds are so very comfortable. If you want a good nights sleep after hiking with a good meal before hiking the next day, Then this is the place for you

The Inn at Bay Ledge is an absolutely wonderful B&B. The food is wonderful, the service is impeccable, the rooms clean and accommodating. The staff is friendly and does all they can to make the guests comfortable. The facility has a feeling of being home. Breakfast is served on the porch with a wonderful view of the bay. The Inn is close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. I would highly recommend this facility for those interested in the B&B experience, if you go you will be glad you did.

The Inn at Bay Ledge feels completely removed from the crowds of Bar Harbor. Breakfast on the porch was especially nice and well prepared. We loved having access to a quiet beach to enjoy the views and calm of the water. The hosts were friendly and helpful.

Outstanding Inn in Maine

Everything about the Inn at Bay Ledge was wonderful! The owners were always there to help with suggestions for places to see, evening meals, or any other questions we may have had. The Inn is beautiful! Serene atmosphere and incredible views. We would highly recommend a stay! You will not be disappointed!

Great spot

4.2 on August 09, 2018

We recently stayed here for four nights while visiting the Bar Harbor area. Jack and Jeanie are superb Innkeepers - Jeanie is a wonderful cook and Jack is an ambassador for everything Bar Harbor. We stayed in the Deer Cottage, just a short walk from the main house. It had beautiful furnishings, plenty of room for two of us, and very cozy. We'd return here again.

Quiet Secluded Spot Near Bar Harbor

4.8 on August 09, 2018

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge. It is a wonderful, quiet spot on the water and away from the business of Bar Harbor. Great place to stay near Acadia. Breakfast was yummy everyday!!! Thanks, The Winstead's from NC

Absolutely Perfect Stay, Above Expectations!

5 on August 08, 2018

This is an absolute gem of a bed and breakfast tucked away in the woods on a cliff overlooking a private rocky Maine beach. The hospitality, the food, the comforts of the Inn...all superb. I stayed in the summer cottage, a private house overlooking the water and the cliff. Separated a bit from the main Inn, this was a wonderful and private getaway spot for me and my significant other.

A memorable stay at a memorable inn

Lovely and a “must stay” B&B by the Sea

5 on July 30, 2018

All public areas are impeccable and decor is outstanding. We stayed at the Moose Cabin and the room was very roomy, clean, and the beds extremely comfortable. Jan and Jeani the owners are so personable and knowledgeable about the area. Sheik , their assistant was also extremely kind and helpful. I highly recommend staying here and avoid the congestion of downtown Bar Harbor.

Wonderful inn!

4.8 on July 28, 2018

We stayed at the Inn at Bay Ledge for three nights in mid-July. It was a great experience! The rooms are immaculate, comfortable and beautiful, and the staff warm and welcoming. Jeani and Jack are superb hosts, and Jeani’s mouthwatering breakfasts are the perfect start to any day. One of our favorite features of the Inn is its private beach with its very interesting rock formations. Just an awesome place to won’t be disappointed!

Beautiful B&B

4.0 on July 25, 2018

Our stay at Bay Ledge was truly wonderful! The Inn Keepers and staff are so welcoming and friendly. We enjoyed our conversations with Jack and Jeani. The breakfast was delicious every morning and we couldn't ask for a more beautiful view while dining. We loved sitting in the lawn chairs and taking in the view in the afternoon. Also loved the private beach at the bottom of the cliff. We had a lot of fun searching for sea glass. The cottages are small, but very comfy and cozy. Our room was always clean and we loved the comfy bed. We didn't get a chance to use the pool but it's nice that one is available on the property, We will definitely be back again in the future!!

Adorable and Quiet B&B

4.6 on July 23, 2018

This is a lovely place to stay if you plan to visit Bar Harbor or Acadia. Convenient for all MDI attractions, but out of the way and quiet. The love view of the harbor at breakfast can't be beat. Both the breakfast and tea were delicious, and the staff was friendly and helpful. I will stay here again.

Lovely Inn

5 on July 04, 2018

We had a wonderful time at the Inn at Bay Ledge! Jack & Jeanie we’re very kind and the breakfasts were delicious. They were smaller portion sizes than my husband liked, but it was plenty for me. Everything was delicious. The walkway down to the beach where there were natural caves to explore was breath takingly beautiful. We would go back!

By far, our favorite B&B in Bar Harbor!

5 on July 01, 2018

I very highly recommend the Inn at Bay Ledge to anyone visiting Bar Harbor. The Inn is beautiful, and its location is so uniquely wonderful. It is very close to the center of downtown, and yet the location is private, peaceful, and stunningly beautiful. We woke up to a beautiful view of sunrise over Frenchman Bay every morning. Moreover, Jack and Jeani are incredible hosts. They are wonderful people and are extremely accommodating. We brought our extended families up to stay at the Inn for our wedding, and everyone cannot stop talking about how wonderful our stay at the Inn was.

5 on July 01, 2018

this was what we expected from a B&B. the rooms were luxurious the breakfast was to die for and the people were so friendly and knew everything about the area. So much fun to talk to!

Great place to stay in bar harbour!

We had a great stay here! Pretty rooms with beautiful view! Also stairway and overlook to beach was very cool. Walked in small caves along the beach shore. Serene bed and breakfast on a quite street! Would love to stay again!

Comfortable and welcoming accommodations in Bar Harbor

5 on June 06, 2018

The Inn is located on a beautiful spot overlooking Frenchman's Bay. Away from the bustle and tourist mecca of Downtown Bar Harbor. Rooms are exceptionally clean and well furnished. A designers touch, i'm sure. On site dining is Breakfast, the Chef picks the day's menu and impossible to find fault. Sit on the porch and have breakfast while the Lobster Boats pass in the bay, great spot. What a way to start the day! Accommodating hosts, for sure. Simply the best out there. Enjoy Bay Ledge!

Lovely inn and lovely innkeepers

4.2 on November 12, 2017

Such a lovely inn, perched on a cliff with stunning views out over the bay! The inn owners could not have been better. Not only were our breakfasts superb, they went way above and beyond to help us find activities, accomplish our work, and even get to our activities! Lovely people and a lovely inn, we so hope we will get the chance to stay there again someday!!

Relaxing B&B

4.6 on October 25, 2017

We greatly enjoyed our stay at the Inn. Jack and Jeani were wonderful hosts. Whether cooking breakfast in the morning, providing brownies in the afternoon, or sharing tips for things to do in the area, they greatly improved our stay. The rooms were clean, spacious, and quiet -- all in all, would highly recommend.

Perfect B&B outside of Downtown - 5 Star - What a Dream

5 on October 20, 2017

This Bed & Breakfast is lovely and perfect down to the smallest details. Our room was small but very comfy and exactly what we wanted. The bed was soft and amazing - feather pillows, super comfortable. The toiletries were even good all natural brands. Jeani and Jack were incredible hosts. The breakfast was never just eggs and toast. It was always something meticulously prepared with quality ingredients that was utterly delicious. They were sweet hosts and Jack had some great stories. Our mornings there before adventuring in Acadia were treasured to be sure. The property was gorgeous and even if the weather isn't great, the walk down to the beach below is well worth it. We would go back in a heartbeat. Thanks so much to our hosts!

Wonderful Experience at the Inn at Bay Ledge

Perfect setting, Sparkling clean, Welcoming innkeepers

5 on October 15, 2017

The Inn at Bay Ledge is an absolute gem. It's in a beautiful, quiet location; yet convenient to Acadia and all that the island has to offer. Upon arrival we walked down to the beach and were awed not only by the magnificent, serene view; but by a bald eagle that flew just overhead! The common spaces are seasonally decorated and everything is squeaky clean. ..and the food, oh the food! Yummy breakfasts and afternoon treats. Go to the Inn at Bay Ledge to feel pampered and leave your cares behind.

We stayed three nights in September 2017. The grounds are beautiful and views of Frenchman Bay are awesome from the porch and from our private deck. Our room was beautifully furnished and very comfortable. Jeani's breakfasts were delicious and the service was first rate. Jack and Jeani took very good care of us while we were there.

Our Go To Inn

4.8 on October 12, 2017

Our first visit to this B&B was in 2015. We loved the location so much we returned in 2016 to elope and most recently returned in 2017 for an anniversary get away. Jack and Jeani are very welcoming hosts. The food and service are excellent and the location is wonderful for observing spectacular sunrises. We've stayed at several B+B's and this one is definitely a favorite.

Visiting from the Upper Midwest

4.8 on October 09, 2017

The hosts were very helpful and congenial. The view from our room and the dining porch was spectacular. We enjoyed walking along the shore, but the steps down to the water are not for the faint-hearted. Sturdy but steep. The breakfasts were delicious, as were the afternoon baked goods set out with tea. We loved our stay and hope to be able to return.

Fabulous B&B

4.8 on October 06, 2017

This B&B was in a perfect location close enough to town for a short drive but out of the hustle and bustle. Jack and Jeani were great hosts and create a special atmosphere of relaxation. I loved tea and homemade cookies in the afternoon! A beautiful Inn overlooking the bay with steps so you can get down to the ocean as well.

Wonderful Place In Bar Harbor

We stayed six nights and had a wonderful time. Jack and Jeani and their staff were very friendly and helpful. The breakfasts were wonderful and there were no repeated breakfasts during our stay. Try the blueberry juice :)

missed the personal touches

4.2 on September 19, 2017

One of the great things about staying at a B&B is chatting with staff and having them as resources for the area. We arrived around 6pm and the staff gave us a sheet of things to know and brought us to our room, not much else. Honestly the girl seemed uncomfortable/nervous/shy, which made us feel uncomfortable asking much of anything. They also seemed to be in a bit of a rush to get out of there. No one asked us about our drive or informed us of breakfast, etc. The B&B is super close to the main national park entrance, which is great! The next day upon returning to the B&B in the late afternoon after a day of hiking, we were asked why we were entering through the front door and little else. It wasn't until breakfast our last day (we weren't able to join the day prior, though an opportunity to grab a coffee or something would've been nice) that anyone asked us how we were, what we were up to, etc. I rarely stay at B&Bs so I was looking forward to the personal touch, which we didn't really get. I was traveling with a friend and maybe they feel more at ease talking with couples (most other folks there). I have a friend who stayed there with her husband around the same time last year and she highly recommended it.

Perfect Getaway

5 on September 16, 2017

Inn at Bay Ledge is perfect in everyday. The view is gorgeous. You can walk down and explore the beach below and watch the lobster boats checking their traps. The inn is absolutely beautiful. So many fine details. Food was delicious. We enjoyed all our breakfasts on the front porch. Jack and Jean were the perfect hosts. While Jean cooked, Jack kept us entertained with his stories. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect getaway.

Excellent stay

5 on September 13, 2017

The Inn at Bay Ledge is a wonderful B and B. Jack and Jeani are superb innkeepers. Jeani's breakfasts are delicious and Jack has many entertaining stories to tell. The rooms are very comfortable and clean, and if you get Room 8, the view is outstanding looking out over the bay. I would highly recommend you stay here.

A super B&B

4.0 on September 11, 2017

This was just what a B&B should be!! Jack welcomed me and told all about the area and their wonderful home. Jeani cooked a superb breakfast and was so lovely and accommodating! Their dog Pearlie is a sweetheart! I felt so comfortable. It was like a home away from home. It's in Bar Harbor but not right in downtown so it is quiet and so relaxing! I highly recommend The Inn at Bay Ledge!!

First Time at a Bed and Breakfast!

5 on September 10, 2017

Jack and Jean were wonderful. They made us feel very welcomed. We had never stayed at a B&B. What a great experience. Our room was so cozy and quaint. The bed was very comfortable with lots of pillows. We stayed in the "Moose Cottage". Very relaxing. The breakfast was outstanding! Jack and Jean gave us ideas of what to do and where to eat. They were very helpful.. We started a new hobby of collecting sea glass...they have a wonderful beach. Look forward to returning next year.

Wonderful place

5 on September 08, 2017

This was our second year going to this place, and just like last year it was wonderful. They have a nice home like feel in every detail. Great staff, and delicious breakfast. There's the convenience of being close to bar harbor and their own private water access. I recommend this place to everyone, and would love to return again next year.

Great stay

5 on September 03, 2017

Spent 4 great days here in August. Wonderful location and views of bay. Enjoyed the beach. Hosts are friendly and available. Breakfast was always excellent but not your typical eggs and meat. We were in room 4 on first floor. It's lovely. This is an older building did you can expect some noise from stairs, etc. Also, if you care about a tv, there is a communal one but not in rooms. Also, no refrigerator for guests only to place personal beer, wine but you can share the inns refrigerator. This is fine so long as everyone doesn't have same idea. These aren't criticisms rather,I think it is type of info people use when making decisions. We had the ability to come back from hikes or whatever we had done in afternoon to enjoy the afternoon cookies, views and relax before dinner since we were there for extended time which made visit even more enjoyable. This is a well kept property inside and gardens so we would enthusiastically endorse staying here puff this sounds like the type of visit you are looking for.

Bayside relaxation!

4.8 on August 31, 2017

Outstanding b and b. Great setting. Beautiful inn. Great breakfast but not quite enough food. Room incredibly clean and comfortable. Very relaxing atmosphere. While jean is not the most affable of hosts, her husband jack makes up for it.

Beautiful and relaxing

4.2 on August 31, 2017

Wonderful stay. Hosts are beyond accommodating. The scenery is spectacular and the grounds immaculate. Internet is slow which made it challenging to book reservations online but other than that we'll stay again.

Wonderful three days at Bay Ledge

5 on August 27, 2017

My son, wife and I enjoyed a relaxing three days at this beautiful inn. Jack and Jeanie provided a very welcoming atmosphere, and the grounds were gorgeous. One quibble would be about the size of the parking spots, but we managed to get parked without scraping the adjacent cars! Jack provided great recommendations on dining, and if we hadn't been out exploring Acadia so much we would have loved to have spent more time at the inn!

Inn at Bay Ledge

5 on August 27, 2017

My husband and I had a relaxing two night stay escape here. We wish it was longer. We loved the water view from our room and at breakfast. The beach with the ovens and Cathedral rock were so beautiful. Jack and Jeani were friendly and gracious hosts. The bed was very comfortable after long days of hiking or biking.

Exceptional B&B experience, terrific place to relax

4.8 on August 20, 2017

My wife and I enjoyed our stay in one of the rooms in the cottage detached from the main house. It was very clean, well-decorated, and very comfortable. We enjoyed our private porch area to relax, read, and chat. During good weather, you may eat your breakfast outside, with either privacy or near other guests. It was a beautiful area that added to our positive experience. The food was the best I've ever had over 20+ B&B experiences. I also like this location, as it is a few iles outside of town, which gives you seclusion and peaceful time away from the busy touristy area of Bar Harbor. If you want to go to town to experience what it offers, it's only a few minutes down the road.

Wonderful experience. Beautiful setting!

5 on August 14, 2017

Although we were only at Bay Ledge for one night, it was truly memorable. The setting is much more beautiful than any of the pictures depict. The beach is amazing and the veranda at the Inn is lovely. We took many sunset shots as well as some early morning ones. Jeannie's breakfast was like a magazine. All the patrons that we met were interesting and friendly. We will definitely come back and stay longer!

The perfect stay

5 on August 08, 2017

Everything about our 2 night stay was perfect. Our hosts could not have been more gracious, provided more information or cooked better meals and snacks. The setting is so dramatic, the walk down the stairs to the beach and the unusual parallel cave a wonder to explore. I would love to go back!

Making you feel like home!

Comfortable and great place to relax. Cliff side view was outstanding. Hosts were very friendly and made you feel like home.

What a view!

4.8 on August 05, 2017

My husband and I booked six days at the Inn and after two days, were upgraded to a "room with a view" on the second floor. Jack and Jeani were so very nice and helped us with all our questions about the local area. The garden and porch are just gorgeous and perfect for relaxation. Breakfasts were creative and delicious and just enough. A wonderful stay.

Amazing views and service!

4.8 on August 05, 2017

Our family loved this bed and breakfast. Jack and Jeani were so kind and super attentive to us. The location was extremely convenient to everything we did. The views were amazing. Gem outside the city

The was a very nice place to stay a short distance from Bar Harbor. Nice view and comfortable accommodations. Jack tells lots of stories.

Lovely inn, beautiful views and a hidden treasure - your own rocky, secluded beach!

4.8 on July 29, 2017

The Inn at Bay Ledge exceeded all expectations! The area around the inn is extremely busy in July, but The Inn at Bay Ledge was a quiet, relaxing and beautiful escape from the outside world. At low tide we descended narrow stairs built into the cliff to discover a very secluded, rocky beach where the water has carved out caves and intriguing rock formations. This is not a beach in the conventional sense, but it is so much more. My husband teased that we were on a hunt for pirate treasure: we really did find an unexpected treasure at The Inn at Bay Ledge! Because we were celebrating my husband's birthday and our anniversary, we splurged on a room with a balcony. The rooms with balconies are definitely worth the expense.

Loved this Inn!

5 on July 28, 2017

Everything about our stay was exceptional. The Inn is on the water with a very dramatic view. The Innkeepers were the most wonderful people providing both advise about the area and the most delicious breakfast and afternoon tea. They sent us to Thurston's Lobster Pound for a fabulous lobster roll. I cannot wait to go back!

We loved our stay!

4.2 on July 26, 2017

We had the pleasure of staying at Bay Ledge for two nights while taking a trip to Acadia National Park. We loved our stay and would highly recommend! The bed was so comfortable and the views while eating a homemade breakfast couldn't be beat! We enjoyed exploring the caves down by the water and the star gazing after we returned from dinner was spectacular. Jack and his wife are wonderful people and Jack gave great suggestions for dinner. Very close to the entrance for Acadia and close enough if you want to explore downtown Bay Harbor to do so. We loved the peacefulness of this resort and hope to go back soon! Thank you Jack and Jeani for a wonderful stay!!!!!

Trip to Acadia

5 on July 18, 2017

Our four days at The Inn at Bay Ledge was spectacular. Jeani and Jack were outstanding hosts. Jeani's breakfasts were as beautiful as they were tasty. Her daily cookies were great with afternoon or evening tea. Jack filled us in on highlights of local restaurants and trips to take. He also kept us entertained with his stories. We wanted to do birding and got to see the Atlantic Puffins per their recommendations. We stayed in the Summer Cottage which had it's own private balcony. We requested wine and cheese on arrival and it was waiting for us. We highly recommend this Inn and would return if we come this way.

Enjoyable vacation in Bar Harbor

3.2 on July 18, 2017

The best part of our stay was the innkeeper's knowledge of the area and of the locals insight into restaurants, sightseeing and things to do.

Gorgeous setting!

5 on July 17, 2017

Loved Inn at Bay Ledge! Location was convenient. Views were beautiful! Loved going down to the beach. Breakfast and afternoon cookies were delicious. Beds were so comfy! This is the place to.stay in Bar Harbor!

Perfection at Bay Ledge

5 on July 13, 2017

The Inn at Bay Ledge exceeded any expectations I had about the ideal place to stay in Maine. The room was beautifully appointed. Nothing was overlooked. Jack and Jeani were friendly and knowledgeable about sites and restaurants in the area. Jeani is an outstanding cook. Breakfast was absolutely delicious and beautiful. In addition there were sweet treats for afternoon tea. The views of the bay from the gorgeous back porch were breathtaking. I cannot say enough nice things about this inn.

summer cottage rental

4.0 on July 13, 2017

We stayed in the cottage. The views are great , the cottage was not. the bedroom is upstairs and the bathroom is down stairs, there is a narrow stairs, they do not tell you that. If you have to go to bathroom at night you have to go down the strairs in middle of the night. The bathroom was clean but decorated for the 80's and pink, also was small. they do not show pictures on website of the bathroom or tell you it is down stairs. This is a challenge for older guest. the pictures on the website are different than what is actually there IE colors. The fireplance which is gas vent behing it and exhaust permeates the upstairs with CO2, which is very dangerous. this is more so with the window open but even with it closed upstairs, very unsafe. The upstairs bedroom and setting area have a very steep roof, so getting out of bed and into bed causes headknockers no matter what you do. we had a 3 day reservation a left after one night. It was a really bad experience. The Innkeeper was very nice that is the only thing other than Views that was good

Wonderful Maine Getaway

A favorite place!

5 on July 04, 2017

We started our New England vacation adventure here and we all agreed that it was our favorite place to stay. So peaceful and just what you would want in a Maine vacation. The hosts are so friendly, the breakfasts were delicious, and the Moose Room in the cottage was comfy and quaintly decorated. Couldn't ask for a better place to stay.

Most Exceptional B&B in Acadia

5 on June 29, 2017

The Inn at Bay Ledge was tremendous! The property, rooms, view, breakfast's and privacy made our trip. Originally we had wanted to stay in town, but I can tell you that after our stay at The Inn at Bay Ledge we won't even consider "in Town" ever again! This place is peaceful and tranquil and after a day of activities we could not come to a more inviting at relaxing place!! Jean and Jack are delightful. Every detail is taken care of---loved every minute of it! Debra and Gregg

A superbly experience

This inn is spectacular. The breakfast is absolutely fantastic and the inn keepers were helpful at every turn and very amiable. The location and views of water are exceptionally beautiful. My wife and I had a wonderful time.

Outstanding Stay

5 on June 21, 2017

This was our first trip to Maine and we could not have chosen a more hospitable, beautiful and welcoming B&B. Jack and Jean make sure you are welcomed and you instantly become a part of the Bay Ledge family. The view of Frenchmen's Bay outside our window (Room 6) was perfect for our first time visiting. The room was very comfortable, especially the bed, and even though it was close to the sun porch where breakfast was served, we never heard any noise. The weather was perfect for having breakfast on the long covered beautifully decorated patio with the same view. Each morning the breakfasts were a different delicious creation you would not normally create at home. Jack was always at hand to tell a story of their many travels and all about Bar Harbor. He steered us in whatever direction we wanted to go for the day. You must visit the rocky beach and cut out cave formations down the many steps at the back of the yard. You find yourself all alone at the peaceful shoreline of Maine, The Inn is also minutes from the town of Bar Harbor. You will not go wrong in staying at this Inn. We will be back.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

5 on June 19, 2017

We were only in Bar Harbor for one night, much too short to enjoy all that Bar Harbor, Acadia NP, Mt. Desert Island, and this charming B&B have to offer. Jack and Jeani were wonderful hosts. Jack is a great story teller and we would have liked hearing more if we only had more time to relax at the Inn. Jeani's breakfast was delicious - I forget what the meal was that day, but they were like fluffy little pancakes with some Maine blueberries (of course), and some zucchini bread. Everything was perfect. They even had blueberry juice, which we had to have (don't really see that too often in the midwest). The dog (whose name I forget) was very well behaved, mild mannered and not jumpy - a good dog, especially for a B&B! The property was beautiful, right on the coast. Unfortunately we only had time to take the stairs down to the coast right at high tide, so there was about 4 ft of walking space, but it was worth it - very picturesque. There are Adirondack chairs and benches throughout the property, and if we had time, would have been amazing to sit and relax, listen to the waves and read a book. We stayed in the Moose cabin, which was decorated nicely - the Christmas tree with seashell garland was a cute touch for soft lighting. The bed was enormous, and very soft. Definitely slept well. There's also a small stove-type gas fireplace, but we couldn't figure out how to turn it on. Not that we needed to, it was plenty comfortable. But we'll ask next time for the ambiance. Another nice touch. I would absolutely recommend the Inn at Bay Ledge to anyone, we are certainly glad we found it!

Great Place, Amazing Views

4.4 on June 14, 2017

We stayed in Deer cottage, and it was adorable. The bed was the most comfortable bed I've ever stayed in away from home. Breakfast was delicious and the views from the inn were incredible. The reasons for the three rating on the room...the bathroom was tiny and the shower was particularly uncomfortable. I'm only 5'3" and I barely stand in it and turn around. There was no sink space to put items on. Also, the room did not have a tv.

Wish we could have stayed longer!

A find in a million

5 on September 20, 2016

We stayed in May, the weekend before Memorial and could not have been happier. The only thing that would have improved it for us would have been to stay for a lot longer than the fleeting two nights we had available. We had Moose Cottage and it really is beyond charming. Tucked away almost IN the woods and so perfectly decorated, the bed was massive and absolutely comfortable. The shower IS small (no surprise since that is clearly spelled out in the description) but perfectly appointed and I must note the gorgeous products on offer .... like all the lovely touches - cookies laid out when you return from your day out, breakfast beautifully prepared and served outside or in depending on preference. We walked on the private beach, sat on the lawn and watched the ocean and forgot the world exists. I really cannot recommend this place highly enough. We just adored it and hope to return next year for a little longer.

Great stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge

4.8 on September 18, 2016

Our room was small, but we it was advertised as that. It was very comfortable and well appointed. Jack and Jeanne were excellent hosts, the breakfasts were very good. The property is beautiful, with views of the ocean from the back porch and lawn. Really a good value in just outside Bar Harbor.

Great Hosts, Great Location

3.2 on September 18, 2016

We found Inn at Bay Ledge the perfect place to launch our Acadia and Bar Harbor adventures. Close enough to the action and yet away from the madness of town. Jack was really knowledgable and recommended some real highlights.

Relaxing and Beautiful

5 on September 13, 2016

Comfortable bed, clean rooms, wonderful breakfast, and the views in the pictures were better in real life. This was the relaxing spot we were looking for.

Beautiful from Sunrise to Sunset

5 on September 09, 2016

My husband and I recently visited The Inn at Bay Ledge. The inn had been recommended by two other couples who had visited in the past. We will continue to rave about this oasis from a busy world! Jack and Jeani were wonderful. Jack gives the BEST recommendations for places to eat, places to watch the sun rise, and places to hike in nearby Acadia National Park. Jeani makes such glorious treats for breakfast and tea. I'm still dreaming about her coconut macaroon cookies! Also, we carelessly forgot our camera and Jeani not only sent it to us, but sent us an email to let us know. What service! I'm going to start saving for my next getaway to this beautiful spot in the NE.

5 on September 08, 2016

Jack & Jeani are a wonderful couple who helped make our first trip to Maine very special. The on-line photographs of the home and property do not do it justice. It is our hope that one day we will be able to return to The Inn at Bay Ledge. Robert & Sara

Charming B&B

4.8 on September 08, 2016

I chose the Inn because they have a Tesla Destination Charger, and was very happy with the choice as the room (in the Bear Cabin) was charming (but only a stall shower) and the breakfasts were delicious and varied. The hosts, Jeani and Jack were delightful. I plan on returning in the future.

magical place

5 on September 08, 2016

We had a fantastic weekend with the owners- very friendly, welcoming inn, fantastic breakfast in the perfect location - breakfast overlooking trees and the sea is magical. The visit went far beyond our expectations.

Great experience

4.6 on September 05, 2016

The Inn at Bay Ledge is a great way to get away. The rooms are extremely comfortable and the innkeepers are exceedingly helpful and friendly. I felt welcomed from the moment I entered their property, and I had a great night's sleep in a soft, comfortable bed. The breakfast was picture-perfect and tasted as good as it looked. I would highly recommend to everyone to stay here.

A Lovely Inn With Gracious Hosts

3.8 on August 31, 2016

The Inn at Bay Ledge was located in an ideal spot just outside of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. The room was more than adequate even though the AC was a bit loud. The views from the Inn were spectacular and the walk down their staircase to the beach was pleasant although the trip back up a little tough. We did encounter one glitch with our reservation. Unfortunately, our room was double booked and since the other party had booked earlier, it caused us to have to leave after our second night of three. While inconvenient, the innkeeper did find us accommodations in Bar Harbor and while more expensive did pick up the difference in price and offered us a free 2-night stay next year.

Love the Bay Ledge!

5 on August 26, 2016

This was our third time coming to the Bay Ledge. We stayed in a smaller room; however, the bathroom was very nice as well. We enjoyed our breakfasts on the porch every morning and we loved hearing Jack's stories. Jeani's granola was delicious and so were her breakfasts. We will come back again!

Beautiful location, delicious breakfast, friendly hosts

4.8 on August 24, 2016

We stayed for a weekend in late August. The location is truly stunning, particularly the private beach. The common areas are cozy and welcoming. Breakfast was delicious and fresh, with a personal touch and great service. The back balcony and porch (where breakfast is served) offers beautiful views of the bay and the manicured gardens. We took a nice afternoon nap on the large hammock tucked away in the woods behind the garden. Our king sized bed was very comfortable. We stayed in one of the "cabins", which offered a bit more privacy. The only thing to note is that the air conditioning units in the cabins are extremely loud. They vibrate the entire room, including the bed, to the point of rattling the window blinds, and even when we turned ours off, the vibrations of the neighbors AC were loud enough to wake us up whenever it kicked in. Only one of our two nights was warm enough to require AC, so this wasn't a huge issue, and of course outside of Summer it wouldn't be an issue. Perhaps they will replace the AC units soon. Outside of that, we would highly recommend this place!

Relaxing Stay

5 on August 23, 2016

I stayed at the Inn at Bay Ledge for a relaxing vacation and to visit Acadia National Park. The Innkeepers were very accommodating and helpful, even with last minute changes to my plans. It was an ideal location for accessing the park, and a gorgeous setting on the water to stay and relax. The breakfasts were delicious! I highly recommend, and would come back again!

Lovely stay at Bay Ledge

5 on July 31, 2016

We had some hesitations making this reservation at a B and B, since our last stay a month prior did not go so well d/t barking dogs waking us up. But Bay Ledge was a very pleasant surprise! Quiet location, easy parking, beautiful private rooms, welcoming helpful hosts, the most amazing breakfasts, really cool afternoon tea and baked goods (perfect after an active day out), the most plush $$ linens, gorgeous view, close to town and Acadia.... We work hard for a living, don't take off much time together and this was the perfect little 'get a away' for both of us. Much appreciated!

Great location, great place - quiet, beautiful spots to sit and relax, a view of the bay (we saw dolphins and an otter sitter on the rock peak). Jack and Jeani are excellent hosts. The breakfast were absolutely delicious! I highly recommend their place and would stay there again.

Beautiful view

4.0 on July 27, 2016

One of the most relaxing slices of Maine. We arrived late in the evening and our hosts made sure someone was there to greet us and help us to our room. Jack was a font of fascinating information on the area. Look forward to visit again.

Much needed week away from it all!

5 on July 26, 2016

We stayed in the summer cottage and it was just amazing. Having our own private deck overlooking the water to wake up to, have coffee from, sit and have a drink on at sunset, and just decompress were like living in a painting. From the second floor where the bedroom was there were also amazing views to just wake up to and fall asleep to utter tranquility. Beyond our individual cottage the main house and the grounds were equally amazing. We ventured down the steps to the private breach when the tide went out. The breakfasts are worth setting an alarm for as you do NOT want to miss Jeani's creations. If it's available, get the blueberry juice. We had never had blueberry juice before and it's the icing on the cake for the Maine breakfast. And not to be forgotten are the conversations with Jack as well. Whether giving a tour of the cottage, giving recommendations for adventures or dining, or asking you about your previous day, or just telling you what's for breakfast, he is truly a delight to talk to. Jack and Jeani make you feel like you're with old friends that you've known forever. Last but not least we were lucky to meet Pearly, the sweetest gentlest dog you'll ever meet. It helped fill the void of us missing our dog back home. We can't say enough about this amazing place. So glad we found it! - Missing Maine from Cleveland, Ohio (July 2016)

Beautiful property, lovely stay!

4.8 on July 22, 2016

We stayed in Moose Cottage for two nights. The room was large, the quality of the bedding top rate, and we seriously enjoyed the best two nights sleep we've had in a long time. We're looking into buying that mattress! The property itself was the best part. Breakfast on the porch overlooking the beautiful garden out to the ocean... wow. And speaking of breakfast, it was delicious and beautifully presented. A series of steps led down to the beach where we enjoyed the rock walls and inlets along with the bright sunshine, blue skies, gorgeous, clear water and cool breeze. Jack and Jeani were the perfect hosts for this lovely B&B. Highly recommend.

At home feel B&B

4.2 on July 21, 2016

Some of my family members and I stayed here June 2016. We have never stayed at a B&B before, so we weren't sure what to expect, what it should be like, etc... Our stay was amazing and out of all the places we stayed during our road trip this was by far our favorite!!! We loved that at home feel atmosphere. It was cozy, so clean, very welcoming, and had breath taking view. All of us want to return again soon!

Diamond in the Rough

5 on June 30, 2016

We stayed in 3 rooms 3 different nights because we booked last minute and that was all that was available. Now we now know why they were full. Each room we stayed in was so charming and beautiful and the views were breathtaking. Jack and Jean do a wonderful job of preparing breakfast in the morning as well as treat in the afternoon. It was all so fresh and delicious. We had wonderful conversations with them as well as they are an awesome couple. As for the property, its gorgeous, the lake is serene the cliffs are beautiful, the Adirondack chairs and a nice bottle of wine, you can't ask for a better scenario. We went for walks down on the beach as the weather was beautiful. Getting into downtown for restaurants and some nightlife is easy as well and Acadia national Park is basically down the street. We would most definitely stay again and we hope to come back this summer. Thanks for the wonderful stay and come visit us in NY as we would love to see you guys.

My husband took me to The Inn at Bay Ledge to celebrate my upcoming birthday and it was the perfect getaway. We stayed in the Summer Cottage, which was comfortable, cozy and clean, and had a marvelous view of Frenchman's Bay. Jack and Jeani are delightful and welcoming and the entire staff is friendly and helpful. We enjoyed Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park and all the beauty Mt. Desert Island has to offer with a beautiful and relaxing place to stay.

Getaway after Vermont Wedding

4.8 on October 21, 2015

Our drive from Winsor, Vt. to Boston/Logan to Bar Harbor was rewarded with scenic beauty and a 2 night stay at what must be the most lovely inn around. Sheila greeted us and Jack and Jeani were wonderful hosts. From the accommodations to dining recommendations to gracious hospitality, our 2 night stay was over too soon. The quietness and privacy away from town added to our stay.

Real R&R

3.6 on October 13, 2015

The summer cottage at the Inn at Bay Ledge is truly a little bit of heaven. Screened from the main house and the road by shrubs and trees, it offers shade, seclusion and silence. And the view from the back porch, through the trees to the bay below, is itself worth the (significant!) cost of the room. While the loft bedroom, reached by a narrow, steep set of stairs, left something (specifically, a bathroom) to be desired, overall the cottage offers a high level of comfort and peace.

Outstanding Bed and Breakfast

5 on October 12, 2015

Outstanding hosts, coupled with excellent breakfasts, wonderful vistas, comfortable bedroom, even more comfortable lounge ..............makes this a B&B to remember, well done.

Great Inn/ B&B

Excellent choice for our honeymoon

5 on September 12, 2015

We wanted something special for our stay in Maine for our honeymoon and selected The Inn at Bay Ledge. It met and exceeded our expectations. We stayed in the summer cottage and the private deck provided a beautiful view. The Inn is a few miles drive from Bar Harbor, but we liked the peace and quite as compared to busy Bar Harbor. The morning coffee and breakfast was also very good.

Best Inn Hands Down

5 on September 10, 2015

This was the 3rd time staying at the Inn at Bay Ledge, and three times a charm. The grounds are beautiful, rooms immaculate and comfortable, breakfasts and snacks beyond delicious, and the staff and inn keepers are all amazing, warm, and fun people. We would not stay any where else when visiting the Bar Harbor area but here. Not to be missed!

Piece of heaven on the Bluff

4.8 on August 30, 2015

Great Inn, view, rooms, and host and hostess. The view was priceless and the area is very quiet so you could sit outside and enjoy the peace. Jake and Jean were cordial and very knowledgeable about the area both present and past. My brother stayed in an Inn in downtown Bar Harbor so he could walk everywhere but it was busy and congested. This little Inn is a great bargain and breathtaking at the same time.

A little piece of heaven

5 on August 21, 2015

We fell in love with The Inn at Bay Ledge. The location, the view, the breakfast were all outstanding. Jack and Jean were warm friendly hosts. We will recommend this Inn to all our friends and relatives! (Jean is the best B&B cook! Delicious without being too pretentious and rich.) loved every minute there!

Great stay in Bar Harbor

5 on August 04, 2015

The Inn at Bay Ledge is a wonderful experience. It is close enough to Bar Harbor to enjoy the dining and shops, but without the noise of being in town. The setting is lovely. Breakfast on the porch was terrific.

Nice B&B, poor bed and breakfast

3.4 on August 03, 2015

The inn is in a beautiful location by the ocean with excellent décor and all the facilities you might need. We stayed in the Bear room, just across the road from the main building. It’s a lovely rustic style room. I do have a couple of reservations about the inn however. I like a reasonably firm bed that gives support, this was very soft and my back was definitely complaining after 4 night sleeping on it. Breakfast consists of a choice of cereals, boiled eggs and a “gourmet” plate of food (no choice here). Typical plates of food are a blueberry crepe with 2 small slices of pumpkin bread and a few slices of strawberry, raspberry and banana (way too sweet for me) or a quiche served in a small ramekin with a biscuit and a few slices of fruit. They’re the prettiest plates of food you’ll ever see for me but I was hoping for something more substantial to set me up for a days hiking. The inn has had many terrific reviews so it obviously suits a lot of people but if you like a supporting bed and a substantial breakfast this may not be for you.

Bar Harbor at its best, The Inn at Bay Ledge.

4.8 on July 20, 2015

Relax, relax, relax........ This well appointed B&B has it all. An unbelievable location with unobstructed views of the harbor, out of the commercial waterfront district, yet only a 5 minute drive to Bar Harbor village and the entrance to Acadia National Park. As if that wasn't enough, the Innkeepers, Jack & Jeannie are experts at their craft and made the experience a memorable one. Our 5 day stay wasn't enough.

Fantastic Environment for a Relaxing and Scenic Trip

Jack and Jean (and Pearl) are lovely hosts. Jack is quick with a story and is easy to talk to, while Jean is extremely friendly and makes amazing breakfasts (and cookies). The place itself lies onto of the Bay provide stunning views and access to the beach. The Inn is on the ocean and abutting the national forest and is beautiful in any direction. It's close to town with plenty of dining options. My fiancé and I can't wait to come back, because the Inn helped make our engagement weekend truly unforgettable.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge. The view alone from the cliff is worth the price of admission. Rooms were well appointed, clean and comfortable and the breakfasts were superb for the 2 days that we stayed. I would highly recommend this place to anyone.

Gracious Living in a Beautiful Setting

3.8 on October 22, 2014

I was searching for a B&B property that overlooked the ocean and got so much more. We stayed 3 nights the week before they closed for the season. This is a lovely, homey inn, owned by Jack and Jeani, with a beautiful view of Frenchman's Bay. The rooms were very cozy, the bathrooms updated, and everything was neat and clean. The common areas inside and the walkway outside were charmingly decorated for Halloween. The common areas were inviting, especially the veranda and the indoor dining area, both of which overlooked the bay. Breakfast was cooked by Jeani each morning and was always a special treat. Delicious! Depending on the weather you could sit at a table on the veranda or choose a table inside the dining area which had big picture windows facing the bay. It was a delight to relax and visit during breakfast with Jack and the other guests before heading out for an active day. Any staff that we had the pleasure to meet were very friendly and helpful.

Knowledgeable host

We had a wonderful stay! Jack gave us great information regarding the area as far as what we should see and do. We loved going down to the beach and sitting on the Adirondack chairs under the stars.

Great stay with awesome scenery, yummy breakfasts, friendly help, and impeccable cleanliness

4.4 on October 15, 2014

Great stay with awesome scenery, yummy breakfasts, friendly help, and impeccable cleanliness. The only complaint I have is the room seemed stuffy if we didn't keep the window AC unit on during the day. But the towels are great, the beds are comfy, the breakfasts are great, the help is great, the place is decorated cute, the scenery is great, and it is very relaxing and quiet being away from the main part of town just a couple miles away from Acadia. We would definitely stay here again!

4.2 on October 14, 2014

This is an excellent B & B that enhanced our visit to Acadia National Park. The Inn at Bay Ledge is pristine clean. We experienced two different rooms that were both very comfortable. The setting is peaceful, about four miles from Bar Harbor, and features a lovely private walkway to a secluded beach. A wide porch offers a scenic view. Jack is a charming host with considerable insight into the area and lots of good suggestions. Breakfasts were tasty. We would happily stay here again on a return trip to Acadia.

Amazing experience!

4.6 on October 13, 2014

The Inn at Bay Ledge was wonderful. We didn't stay in the main house. Our room was the Deer Room. It was located in a cottage, nestled in the woods, across the road from the main house. It was so cool. It looked like a man cave. My husband loved it, after spending several nights in Victorian, lacy, pretty B & B's. The staff were excellent. My only complaint was breakfast. I have issues with my adrenal glands so I have to eat lots of protein, especially first thing in the morning. They served gourmet (?) breakfasts. One morning it was a zucchini soufflé :( Since we were doing a lot of walking - sightseeing and hiking in Acadia National Park I would have loved a big protein packed omelette. Other than that the place was beautiful, clean. And there was access to a beach where we collected some really neat rocks. I would DEFINITELY go back and I have already recommended it to friends and family.

At home while far for home.

A sanctuary to enoy at its best Acadia N.P. Service is perfect, breakfast delicious and, most important, owners and staff are kind, attentive and helpful. If you need good resturant directions just ask Jack.

Outstanding Stay !

5 on October 07, 2014

Very nice Bed & Breakfast inn. Innkeepers are very friendly and helpful in pointing out things to see and do while one is the Bar Harbor area. We highly recommend The Inn at Bay Ledge. We look foward to returning to this inn and the Bar Harbor area in the future.

Comfortable B&B with a great view

3.2 on October 05, 2014

My husband and I stayed at the Inn at Bay Ledge for our one year wedding anniversary. Jack was very hospitable and the staff was very responsive to our requests. We stayed on the second floor facing the bay, and enjoyed our spectacular view most mornings with a cup of coffee on our balcony. Our favorite part of the grounds were actually the waterfront stairs leading right down to a beach on the water and the two adirondack chairs overlooking the water at the cliff's edge. The quaint environment was very sweet to celebrate our new marriage.

Enjoy the peace and quiet of coastal Maine

4.8 on October 04, 2014

If visiting Acadia National Park, consider staying at this inn. It is only three miles north of the more commercial Bar Harbor and offers quick access to the park or shopping without putting you in the middle of traffic, t-shirt shops and crowds. The grounds overlook the Frenchman's Bay and provide a beautiful place to sit and sip your morning coffee or a glass of wine in the late afternoon. The exceptional rocky beach is accessible via a staircase and should not be missed. We stayed in one of the three "cabins" a very short distance down a path from the main lodge and found it peaceful. The room was spacious and had a fireplace. The innkeepers are delightful and the breakfast was quite nice.

Perfect Place to Stay

5 on September 21, 2014

This Inn was fantastic from top to bottom. Beautiful location, the private back with the stairs down to the caves/beach area was incredible. The seating in the backyard area was beautiful. The breakfast they prepared were atypical and just plain spectacular. The seating area for the breakfast was very nicely done. Jack & Jeani went above and beyond what typical B&B owners would do. Very personable, funny stories, just made you feel at home, we can't say enough. There were four of us staying and we will make sure this is the place to go whenever we get back and recommend the Inn to all our friends. I wish all B&B's were like this one!!!! Thank you again Jack and Jeani!! From Peter & Donna and Dave & Carla

Enchanting stay in Maine

Bay Ledge

4.6 on September 15, 2014

We have stayed at Bay Ledge several times in various rooms and have found it to be consistently pleasant and gracious. The staff is very hard-working and anxious to please. Lucia is an especially wonderful person and went out of her way to serve wonderful breakfasts with a genuine smile.

A little bit of paradise

5 on September 14, 2014

The Inn is outside Bar Harbor and we chose it specifically to be out of the hustle and bustle of town. It is right on the water with a beautiful garden and water views. The breakfasts were delicious as were the afternoon treats. The hosts Jack and Jeani were some of the most pleasant people we have met and treated all their guests with the utmost courtesy and respect. Of course you have the beautiful Acadia National Park on your doorstep but even without that the Inn at Bay Ledge would be a lovely place to stay. At the time we stayed the Inn was for sale and but for the fact that we live in the UK, we would seriously contemplate buying it - it is a little piece of paradise.

Delightful B&B

4.8 on September 13, 2014

Wonderful location, private shell beach, excellent food and service.

Wonderful place that leaves you wanting to stay longer

4.4 on September 10, 2014

If you like to walk out of your front door and be in the action, this is not your place. This Inn is about 5 to 10 minutes by car from downtown or the Acadia park entrance. But its distance is part of the charm. We could return at will for a quick refresh or a relaxing glass of wine on our private balcony looking out to Frenchman Bay. The Inn at Bay Ledge offers beautifully appointed rooms, breakfast on the veranda and excellent service. Jack is always there in the morning and he is a great source of local lore and information. We were drawn to this place because of its private access to the beach and it did not disappoint. And if this offends anyone, I apologize in advance, but it is not pet or child friendly. I appreciated the silence and ambience this affords. Kay and Gary Vogel

So wonderful!

5 on September 09, 2014

We absolutely loved the property and the inn keepers. It was our first trip to Maine and I am telling everyone how beautiful it was. Make sure you ask for a room with a balcony. It was heaven. I didn't want to leave. Yummy delicious breakfast, also. Marie

Stay at the Unn at Bay Ledge

4.0 on September 08, 2014

The inn is a great place to spend a few days. The view of the Bay can't be beat. The walk down the stairs from the Inn to the beach is breath taking. The inn is just a few minutes from the center of town, so it is away from the traffic and the noise of Downtown. We enjoyed our stay and would go back .

Cozy quiet getaway

5 on September 06, 2014

This was the perfect spot for my quiet weekend away. The location, the Inn, and the hospitality were just supreme. Jack and Jean were lovely hosts, and Ellen in particular was so welcoming - she even made me gluten free cookies so that I could partake in the evening snacks! Just a really wonderful spot

2nd trip to Bar Harbor

4.2 on August 26, 2014

We spent 3 nights at the Inn at Bay Ledge. It was wonderful. The beds were incredibly comfortable and waking up to the sunrise over Frenchman's Bay was breathtaking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the breakfasts were good I was disappointed in that over three mornings we were served no meat. The pool is also unheated which was a disappointment. The gardens and porch were lovely. I recommend this as a restful and beautiful place to stay.

Lovely view, wonderful people

4.2 on August 25, 2014

Jack was able to upgrade us to the Cottage due to a cancellation and it was amazing--so romantic and beautiful, sitting on the edge of the cliff with the trees and water in front. On our last night we moved to the smallest room they had--the Garden room--it's small, but still quite wonderful. Decorations were beautiful in the cottage, in the inn, and the Jean's breakfast was the best we had all week at any B&B in Maine. The view from the inn over the yard to the water is restful and amazing, and I can't imagine a better place to experience Bar Harbor. We'll be back! Ben and Sandee

Comfort, Friendliness and Beautiful Surroundings

Comfortable and clean rooms that are beautifully decorated, friendliness along with knowledge of the area and wonderful breakfasts served in a beautiful settings with fabulous views! All of those your get at The Inn at Bay Ledge. I would highly recommend if you visit Bay Harbor that you visit this Inn. It is just enough out of town to enjoy the serenity of the area, yet a short drive to all the wonderful adventures that the area has to offer! Betsy and Deems

My wife and I stayed here during our trip to Bar Harbor. The Inn is located a few miles from downtown Bar Harbor, but don't let that stop you from staying at The Inn at Bay Ledge. The accomodations and breakfasts were outstanding, and the owners and staff extremely friendly and helpful. We had very little trouble finding parking downtown even though it was the hight of the season. The views from the back of the Inn were very relaxing and absolutely gorgeous. We would highly recommend staying at The Inn at Bay Ledge

Excellent stay with charming hosts

My husband and I had a lovely two nights at The Inn at Bay Ledge. The property was breathtaking and very well maintained. Its own stairway to a private beach. The hosts were charming and made excellent food and beverages. We stayed at the Moose cabin and found it to be extremely private and enjoyable. It was nice being outside the hubub of town and so close to the Acadia National Park entrance. I would highly recommend this B&B to anyone visiting the Bar Harbor area.

We stayed in the Bear Room across the drive and it was perfect for us. Bar Harbor was so very busy that we loved we could return here and unwind. The owners are lovely and the service was excellent. We will recommend this place to others and return here if we ever get the chance.

This cozy, quiet inn is a 10 minute drive from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. We just loved eating breakfast or relaxing on the porch with the view of the ocean (make sure you make your way down to explore the beach!), and listening to the birds singing in the garden. Comfy beds, too:) Enjoy!

Great place !

5 on July 19, 2014

Stayed in Bear Cottage. Very clean and comfortable. The hosts were wonderful and Jack spent a good 10 minutes one morning with me personally outlining on a map some of the great sights we should see while in Acadia. Breakfast was superb. The rocky beach was just awesome and felt like we were in a very unique place. Everything about this place was great.

Lovely home away from home!

5 on July 19, 2014

This beautiful B&B is a hidden treasure. We felt at home from the time we arrived until we left a few days later. We wish we could have stayed longer. The owners, Jeani & Jack and their staff could not have been nicer or more helpful. The house and the rooms we so comfortable and there were many places to just sit and relax with a beautiful view of Frenchmans Bay from the porch. The breakfasts and snacks were delicious & plentiful. It is a long trip from NJ but wellworth the visit.

Kleine Oase Nähe Bar Harbour

5 on July 17, 2014

One of the Best

5 on July 15, 2014

My husband and I recently stayed at the Inn and found everything about it exceptional! The rooms were super clean and comfortable, you felt like you were home. The views were incredible. The Inn is tucked into the cliffs of Bar Harbor so the quiet, calm, and grounded by nature feelings abound. The grounds were teaming with flowers and beautifully maintained. The breakfasts were delicious, and eating outside on their expansive back deck made everything taste that much better. While eating breakfast one morning we even spotted a seal out in the water! The staff were equally as fabulous as the Inn itself. Jack the owner, was filled with interesting facts, stories, and suggestions about the island. His dog Pearly greeted us every morning and was a welcome sight for my husband and I who left our pets at home and were missing them. We will absolutely be back to stay with Jack and Jeany again. What a fantastic home away from home.

Will stay again

Lovely setting

2.8 on July 11, 2014

We had a wonderful time at the Inn at Bay Ledge. We stayed in the Summer Cottage. It was very nice, but the ceiling was too low in the loft and there was no coffee pot provided. The breakfasts were very good and different every day. It is a lovely place to visit, close to everything but secluded.

WOW - Best B&B we've stayed at!

5 on July 08, 2014

The location out side of town on the water was fabulous. The staff was attentive and full of information to enhance our stay. The homemade coffeecakes and savory bread pudding were out of this world with fresh strawberries and rhubarb from the garden. The photo ops on the rugged rocky shore (86 steps down to the beach) with caves and arches just like Capri! Who knew this gem existed?

Lovely, lovely

4.8 on July 08, 2014

We had a wonderful stay. My daughter and I were both thrilled with the homey, yet luxurious accommodations. The breakfast was not as nutritious as we would have liked - all sweets - but it was delicious. Everyone was helpful and beyond pleasant. We had help booking dinner in Bar Harbor to insure we had vegetarian meals. We had to get an early start the day we checked out but were still provided with a light breakfast to go and more importantly delicious coffee. This B&B would be a sweet romantic get-away as well as a perfect mother-daughter stay. Thank you to all who made our long awaited trip to Maine so memorable.

Sitting on a ledge by the bay, passing time

4.8 on July 01, 2014

The perfect location on the bay 5 miles north of Bar Harbor. Much better than being in town with the noise, traffic and tourists. Our room had a view of Frenchman's Bay and it looks like all do. Wonderful pool, point on the water with great view, beach on the bay and wonderful accomodations. The Inn was immaculate with a covered front porch to die for. Delicious breakfast and the innkeepers were friendly, entertaining, attentive and full of stories and history. Check out the scrap book showing that one of President Bush's daughters (and other famous people) stayed here. You will love!

This was a lovely B & B, but I have to say the best part was the vista it provided. I LOVED walking down the path to the edge of the rock cliff and just sitting and watching.....the sunrise, the tides, just the all around beauty. The owners were very nice and we especially enjoyed time with Ellen, the new weekend hostess. She was a delight! This is a great place to "hide-away" and we plan to do it again in the future!

The location is what makes this so outstanding

4.6 on November 20, 2013

I had never been to Maine and, honestly, didn't know what to expect. To be on the safe side, I booked at this Bed& Breakfast because the rooms looked really nice online and I wanted to make sure the trip was worth something if I didn't like the area. The inn is right on the ocean and you can walk off the lawn onto the beach. If you stay in the Acadia Suite, as we did, you have the most gorgeous view onto the ocean. The room was outstanding and the two fireplaces just added to the ambiance. This experience was truly great and I think that this place is the perfect location for a romantic getaway. I can highly recommend it.

The perfect place to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia NP.

4.2 on September 15, 2013

We stayed two nights at the bear cottage in August 2013. The cottage is right the other side of the road from the Inn and has a dedicated small parking lot. The "bear theme" Room is charming with nice furniture (including a gas operated fireplace) and reminds a log cabin. The place including bathroom was spotless clean. The actual Inn is cozy and the breakfast (yummi!!!) on the terrace facing the bay is a wonderful way to start the day. The hosts Jack and Jeani are happy to entertain their guests with all the infos on the area and ready to meet their requests. On the down side the wifi signal in the lodge is weak. Overall an enjoyable stay in the perfect place to visit Bar Harbor and Acadia NP.

Great Bar Harbor Getaway

4.2 on September 12, 2013

My husband and I stayed at moose cottage for two nights. The cottage was cute and quaint, shower is a bit small and bed is a bit too soft, but we really enjoyed the outside porch area. The inn itself is very pretty and the location is great if you don't want to be in the middle of Bar Harbor. Jack was wonderful, very nice and welcoming. The food was delicious- breakfast was excellent with creative but very tasty food each morning. In the afternoons there were also freshly baked cookies, which we couldn't resist! Staying at Bay Ledge was a great way to end a camping vacation and we would recommend staying here.

Another Outstanding stay.

We loved the Inn at Bay Ledge! The location is spectacular. Sit above cliffs over the ocean or walk down the stairs to a rocky beach. The service is meticulous and friendly. The rooms and the Inn are spotless. Breakfasts are great. Loved the entire experience!

Enchanting, the best views, wonderful, caring hosts, great food, the place to go!

We stayed at the Bay Ledge for 3 days. It was heaven!. The location is idilic, beautiful gardens in front of a lovely bay with a beach. the bedrooms are wonderful, comfortable, spotless, The terrace in the bedroom had a great view. The Inn is wonderfull, it has different leaving rooms to sit down and relax, all of the warm and lovely. The owners, Jack and Jeani were wonderful, so warm and caring, always ready to help and to make our stay perfect. Jeanie is a wonderfull cook, we enjoyed the jummy cooked breakfasts in the porsche or dining room enyoing the garden/bay view. In the evening Jeani´s lovely cookies and tea, coffe were there for us to enjoy in front of the fireplace). On top of everything Pearl, the friendliest, sweetest dog (a labradoodle) is there ready to be stroken. There are all kind of lovely places to go, restaurants , shops, Acadia National Park, just 5 minutes drive. It is the place to stay. It is perfect.

Exceeded expectations

5 on August 17, 2013

Our stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge was incredible. We stayed in the summer cottage. The accommodations were wonderful, the view spectacular, and the service top notch. We never expected delicious, gourmet breakfasts... but that's what we got. Jack and Jeani and all of their staff were friendly and quick to help with whatever we needed. Bar Harbor is only a ten minute drive, but we were glad to make that drive because the Inn was away from the hustle and bustle; very relaxing. I hope we can become regulars!

I love our stay.

5 on August 13, 2013

The room and the view are outstanding. Jack and Jeani made us feel like home, not like quest but like friends.

The perfect spot in Bar Harbor

5 on July 29, 2013

The perfect spot for a relaxing, comfortable stay. The Inn is charming and friendly, and the views are outrageously stunning. It's only a quick five minutes to downtown, where during the high season, people are crawling like ants over everything. We spent several days exploring the island and other lodging options, and wouldn't hesitate to go right back to the Inn at Bay Ledge on our next trip. Thanks to Jack and Jeani for a wonderful experience. We look forward to visiting again.

The Inn at Bay Ledge is the best!

We absolutely loved the location and the views. Located just outside Bar Harbor in a really quiet and peaceful location but just minutes from downtown. The view from our room and deck was fantastic overlooking the pool and perennial gardens. Jean and Luccia did a great job with breakfast every day (3). Jack is a great host with a wealth of information about the area. Highly recommend!

Exceptional Vistas and Value

4.8 on November 05, 2012

This was my first visit to the Bar Harbor area and I was delighted with the staff, room, location, food and ambiance of the Inn at Bay Ledge. From the moment I arrived I was treated like a returning friend. Breakfast was delicious and plentiful. My room looked out over the lawn to the bay below and was immaculate and beautifully decorated. Do not miss the stairs to the beach below the Inn and the amazing tunnel cut through the cliff! At low tide you can walk along the beach and explore shallow caves carved in to the ledge and beautiful views of the harbor. About three miles outside of Bar Harbor, the Inn is a quiet and gentile island away from what can be a bustling and active downtown area. The entrance to Acadia National Park is just down the road. Staff recommendations for restaurants were excellent.

We were thrilled with our magical weekend in Acadia. Jack (and the dogs) made us feel so welcome and the breakfasts were out of this world. Maine's serenity enveloped us in our down filled beds - who could ask for more?

Exceptional Inn!

5 on September 07, 2012

This was our first experience staying at a bed and breakfast, we were very pleased. Jack and Jeani were wonderful and attentive as well as the staff. They offerred very good advice on where to eat and what to do in the area. The Inn was very comfortable and cozy with a lot of areas to sit and relax inside and out. The accomodations were very neat and clean and we really enjoyed eating breakfast on the veranda. We cannot say enough about the experience, we especially loved visiting with Woody and Pearl each morning! We will definitely stay at The Inn at Bay Ledge when we vacation in Bar Harbor again.

5 on September 07, 2012

We had the pleasure of staying at the Inn for two nights and cannot wait to return. The Inn is absolutely beautiful inside and out. The porch is where all of your cares melt away and the guest rooms are well appointed and extremely comfortable. Jack, Jeani, and everyone (including my four-legged friend Pearl) welcome you warmly and make every aspect of your stay thoroughly enjoyable. The breakfasts are unique and delicious, and we are still talking about the ginger squares we had at afternoon tea. Be sure to walk down the stairs to the beautiful beach below, explore the cave, and watch birds, seals, and porpoise play in Frenchman's Bay. Even though I have returned to reality my thoughts are still very much in Bar Harbor and the very special time spent at the Inn at Bay Ledge. Simply wonderful. Tena & Tom

Best stay ever!

The owners were great, very personable and sweet people. The cottage we stayed in (bear cottage) was quite larger than expected and the grounds lived up to the images, and don't even get me started on how delicious the food was! Plus they were very knowledgeable whn asking about restaurants to go to and things to do while there, they won't lead you astray! For everything that we were able to do there, the price was well worth it and my fiance and I will be going there from now on whenever we visit Bar Harbor! ~Mike Rullo and Danielle Dutil, Augusta, ME

Serene and charming B&B

5 on August 08, 2012

We recently stayed at the Inn at Bay Ledge in Bar Harbor, Maine and it was one of our best and most relaxing vacations ever. The innkeepers Jack and Jeani are true professionals and have mastered the art of providing an outstanding experience for their guests. Rooms are beautifully and tastefully decorated - and spotless - with comfortable beds and attractive bedding. Breakfasts by Jeanni each morning are a gourmet delight served in an attractive dining room overlooking scenic Frenchmen's Bay. Jack has an engaging personality and is ever helpful, as is their staff, with providing useful tips on the area's sights, restaurants and directions. The Inn's location is secluded providing privacy and maximum relaxation but close by to the main attractions on Mt. Desert Island of Acadia National Park and the bustling downtown aea of Bar Harbor loaded with a range of great restaurants and interesting local shops. The lovely porch at the Inn, beautifully decorated with comfortable wicker furniture, is a great spot to spend a quiet and relaxing afternoon overlooking the water and the lovely gardens. Every day we looked forward to afternoon tea and homemade cookies and treats. Five stars for this exceptional inn. We'd highly recommend it!

Nice inn fussily decorated

3.0 on August 03, 2012

Nicely situated with a great view and friendly innkeepers. But the public rooms and our room were crowded with all kinds of extraneous knicknacks and decorative items that are fussy and get in the way. (Bunnies on the bathroom rug?) The wall to wall carpeting needs to be replaced - or maybe bare wood floors would be much nicer.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for staying with us. I am sorry youdidn't care for our decor, everyone tastes are different. That is wahat makes life interesting! My great aunt was choosen to be one of the first illistrators for the American version of the Beatric Potter series. Needless to say, bunnies and whimzy have always been near and dear to my heart. I do hope in your future no one mistakes your treasures for extraneous knicknacks.

A perfect stay at a perfect place

4.8 on July 26, 2012

Jack & Jean were marvelous hosts. The place really is as quaint and charming as it appears in the photographs. There's a stairway down to a beautiful rocky beach with a cave, a spacious and very comfortable porch for napping and reading, and the common rooms are very good. There was a cozy wood fire by my room in the morning. The only thing I would have added was a nightstand in my room (I got a fairly small room, and there there just wasn't room for it the way it was laid out.) I will definitely go there again.

My girlfriend's first visit to Bar Harbor area.

4.8 on July 25, 2012

We chose to stay in one of the three cottages across the street from the Inn. The cottage was clean and offered privacy from the guests in the lodge. The owners were friendly and gracious to all the guests. The weather was great and so breakfast for the two mornings that we attended was served on the porch. The quality of the food was great and the view begged you enjoy one more cup of coffee. We will definitely return to this B&B.

2012 Bar Harbor Vacation

5 on July 23, 2012

We stayed at The Inn at Bay Ledge for 6 nights on our recent vacation to Bar Harbor, Maine. I must say, the Inn exceeded our expectations. The cottage that we stayed in was neat, roomy and very quiet. We were looking for a place away from the beaten path to relax with beautiful scenery and The Inn at Bay Ledge was perfect!. Jack and Jeani were perfect hosts and made us feel right at home. We loved our early morning chats with Jack over a hot cup of coffee on the porch. He gave us lots of tips on restaurants and things to do in the area. While we talked with him, Jeani was busy in the kitchen preparing a wonderful breakfast of fresh fruit, baked goods, pancakes, and homemade granola. Wonderful! We will definitely be back. We would highly recommend this inn to anyone looking to vacation in the Bar Harbor area. Tim and Debbie Flack

A Great Choice in the Bar Harbor area

4.6 on July 05, 2012

The Inn at Bay Ledge is a great choice for people who like to be close to a resort town...without being overwhelmed by it. We loved the location--close to Acadia NP and Bar Harbor but away from the crowds. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed (though we were disappointed that they did not provide bathrobes) and the upper story rooms, in particular, have superb views. They provide an excellent breakfast and are accommodating hosts, helping us out with restaurant and activity suggestions.

Honeymoon B&B

5 on July 02, 2012

We stayed here for 3 nights of our honeymoon. Location was great for getting to the park and Bar Harbor eateries, but still provided a nice retreat for a little romance. Loved the view, and the breakfasts were good too. Will no doubt be coming back for anniversaries!

First Trip to Bar Harbor

5 on June 27, 2012

The owners were wonderful people and made you feel right at home. They certainly have the best view in Bar Harbor and I would definitely go back for another visit.

Loved it!

5 on June 22, 2012

My boyfriend and I are grad students, perhaps not the typical crowd for a place like this, but we like to treat ourselves now and then. This place was adorable! We stayed in the Bear Cottage. It was beautifully furnished, and the main building was great as well. We may not normally enjoy breakfast between 8 and 9am but it was well worth it to wake up "early" for the homemade meal and great service each morning. The scenic rocky beach out back was also a plus, as was the short (~15 minutes) drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The innkeepers were out of town for most of our time there but the woman left in charge was very helpful and personable, and our brief chat with the innkeepers proved the same for them. Overall, highly recommended.

Memorial Day Weekend at the Inn at Bay Ledge

Bar Harbor review

5 on May 29, 2012

In 30 plus years of travel we have stayed at more than a hundred B&B's. The Inn at Bay Ledge is perehaps the best. We found the owners to be deligthful and very helpful. The views from the rooms are super. The location is great - quiet and only a 5 min ride to town. There is lots to do around Bar Harbor. We canoed, kayaked and hiked in Acadia NP. And of course there is the seafood. We are already talikng about a return visit.

July Joy 2011

4.8 on November 13, 2011

My wife & I, along with my sister and her husband spent some time at The Inn at Bay Ledge last July. I have never written a review before and it's taken me awhile to write this one. But the location, grounds and view at this inn are truly marvelous. Add to that an engaging and pleasant team of Jack, Jeani and Mady, a wonderful breakfast and a terrific restaurant recommendation for dinner made for an all around excellent experience. Were we to return to Bar Harbor--we know exactly where we would stay. Jack & Jeani were also very helpful in advance of our arrival.

A Fall visit

Peaceful, quiet, beautiful setting. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Wonderful breakfast. C lose enough to the town but far enough to retreat from the crowds in Bar Harbor

Ok but forgettable

2.6 on October 16, 2011

The view was great, the rooms were ok. The sauna did not work all that well and was noisy. We left breakfast still feeling hungry, and they ran out of food towards the end of the hour. The same was true for the afternoon cookies. The innkeepers were nice enough.

Possibly the best B & B that I ever visited.

5 on October 13, 2011

We loved the fact that this inn is off the beaten track and away from the cruise ship madness in the city of Bar Harbor. The inn was beautifully decorated for Halloween. Every detail was addressed. I loved the breakfasts, which were ample but not stuffing. There was plenty of food at the breakfast buffet table, and the main courses were artistically and deliciously prepared. Kudos to Jack and Jeani. They run a spectacular establishment.

The best fall place for a romantic time.....

5 on October 12, 2011

This B&B was not only charming and warm but the owner Jack made it special for us with his warm hospitiality and humor......

Beautiful Location - Not gluten free

3.4 on October 11, 2011

The inn is very nice and in a beautiful location. Jack is very friendly and accommodating. A couple of things that would improve the place - the reservation system needs to be updated to allow for online bookings. As it is, the online system only allows you to make a request, you have to call to actually reserve a room. The request has a place for comments, but those were not carried forward to the reservation. The 2nd thing is that there were no gluten free breakfast options for my husband except for hard boiled eggs. Oat Cereal, oats and baked goods are not gluten free. He had to do with a small bowl of fruit for breakfast one morning. No seconds were offered and no other options were given. It was quite disappointing since there are so many gluten free items available in the grocery stores now and we have not had any issues at other inns and B&Bs.

Exceptional Inn!

5 on October 04, 2011

The innkeepers are amazing people and the accomodations were exceptional! The food and service was great! Our room was clean and neat and exactly what we wanted in a B&B. The innkeepers were great at giving us information on places/restaurants in the area and surrounding areas. My husband and I will definitely come back and stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge!!

The Inn was comfy and inviting. The Innkeepers Jack and Jeani were welcolming and friendly. Jeani made lovely breakfast offerings. Her creamy pesto sauce won my heart and stomache. We certainly recommend this beautiful Inn and give it 5 stars in all categories.

Beautiful view of the harbor. Very pleasant and helpful innkeepers. Most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. I do wish there was television in the rooms. I know people are there to relax and television is not a necessity but I like to become drowsy to a movie, especially in a small area like Bar Harbor where there is not a great deal of night life to occupy one beyond 8pm. I would return though, it was so comfortable.

relaxing breath of fresh sea air.

We arrived a little late, and we were greeted by a very gracious hostess who made us feel very welcome. The Moose Cottage room was absolutely beautiful; I loved the Adirondack furniture and decor! Breakfast was outstanding on every one of our four mornings there. The views of Frenchman Bay and the private beach (wonderful!) made for a very romantic stay. We were very lucky to find such a special place. This combined with the beauty of Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park, made our long-awaited yet short vacation so

our stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge

4.6 on September 21, 2011

My husband & I had a wonderful stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge. The staff is very friendly & helpful. The breakfast was presented warmly & the owners took the time to stop & chat with you as well. They made you feel like family. The scenery was beautiful as were the grounds! We would definitely stay there again!

An A+ getaway

4.6 on September 19, 2011

A great, quiet place overlooking the ocean. Rooms were very clean and quiet. Jack and Jeani are great hosts and the breakfast is gourmet. Very easy 5 - 10 minute drive into Bar Harbor and easy access to Acadia NP. We will be back.

Superb B&B

4.6 on September 16, 2011

The overall appearance in delightful, landscaping is outstanding, rooms are charming victorian style, spotless interior and a breakfast above all expectations, truly home made scones, waffles and great coffee!

A Nice Place

The Inn at Bay Ledge is one of the best run and clean B&B I've stayed at. The owners are wonderful people. I felt at home during my entire stay.

serene restful spot!

lovely bay view, great breakfast, helpful hosts. we stayed in 'cottages' which were comfortable but less cushy than the inn. easy drive in to Bar Harbor and Acadia.

Great stay at Bar Harbor

5 on September 11, 2011

What a great find staying at the Inn at Bay Ledge! Quiet, pristine, coast line walk, with superb views. We felt very fortunate to locate this B&B. Highly recommend and when we return we will book again at Bay Ledge. Jack and Jeanne were wonderful to all their guests. Jeanne is a fabulous cook. Woodstock is a sweet heart. Much thought and detail has been given to this hideaway.

Outstanding stay in Bar Harbor at the Deer Lodge at The Inn at Bay Ledge.

Just a stone's throw away from Acadia National Park and the main town, the Inn at Bay Ledge was perfectly situated. Well appointed rooms and spectacular beach views.

A Spot in Paradise

4.0 on September 05, 2011

The inn keepers and staff are friendly and helpful, making one feel at home. Breakfasts are a real treat, with cheery service, great food, and a great view of Frenchman's Bay. The view from the top of Cathedral Rock and the beach are unique; there are few B&B inns that have direct water access. It is a lovely, quiet place, restores the body and soul. Overall exceeded expectations, feels like a "home away from home."

Inn at Bay Ledge- The pictures don't lie!

5 on September 02, 2011

Warmly welcomed as soon as we arrived. Magnificent view of the ocean from the lawn and sitting areas.Large swimming pool. Given a tour of the public areas.Tea, coffee, always available. Beautifully decorated. Many comfortable sitting areas. We felt right at home. Shown our lovely large room. Beautiful hand painted murals on walls. Canopied bed, sitting area, immaculate, well appointed bathroom. Private deck with chairs right outside our room. Breakfast served at tables in the dining room. We could choose to eat with others at a large table or by ourselves. Many interesting, friendly guests to chat with. Innkeepers had great ideas for daily activities and suggestions for restaurants and menus.

A magical place

4.4 on August 31, 2011

My husband and I just spent a week at The Inn at Bay Ledge (Bear Lodge) and were so impressed with the setting (pictures on website do not do it justice) and the peaceful atmosphere. Jack and Jeani, the owners, do a wonderful job in making all of their guests feel welcome and accommodated. They are very helpful with suggestions and recommendations for restaurants, activities, places to go, etc. This was our first trip to Maine and after going into Bar Harbor, which is only a 10 minute drive from the Inn, we were so glad we were not staying there due to the crowds of people and noise factor. The breakfasts and afternoon snacks are so delicious as Jeani is an accomplished cook and baker. We will definitely stay there again!

A bit pricey though nice

2.8 on August 30, 2011

Nice place, amazing views but a bit pricey. With tax our stay was over $400 for one night...kind of expected something more it was just sort of your run of the mill bed and breakfast at a nice place.

Inn Bay Ledge

2.6 on August 25, 2011

It was very nice. Breakfast was okay, but expected more food. The room and view were great. Jack and Jeani were very nice and helpful with things to do around the area. The cookies in the afternoon were delish.

A relaxing and romantic respite

4.0 on August 22, 2011

The Inn at Bay Ledge was everything that we were looking for our week away from the kids and hecticness of our lives. The porch and ground were beautiful and very welcoming, the breakfast was served in a lovely environment and Jeani is a talented baker. The rooms very also very comfortable and the private beach provided a secluded place to take in the beauty of the area without the crowds of Acadia.

An island of calm

4.8 on August 22, 2011

Located but a few minutes' drive from bustling Bar Harbor, Bay Ledge offers quiet, casual, and comfortable elegance and a helpful, caring staff; its bayside location is superb, and everything about the place reflects the owners' good taste and emphasis on quality.

5 on August 19, 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights for our honeymoon and were so impressed. It's everything that you want in a private getaway - quiet (it's a few miles from downtown), romantic, cozy, and beautiful, not to mention right on the ocean! Jack and Jeannie and the staff and wonderful and make you feel right at home as soon as you arrive. The gourmet breakfasts alone are worth booking this place, we will be back!

Notable Getaway

4.8 on August 16, 2011

Fabulous place, amazing view and wonderful hosts. Not to mention the morning breakfast was delicious. We had an incredible stay and plan to come back again next year!!

Would definitely return

5 on August 11, 2011

We decided to stay at the Inn at Bay Ledge in order to avoid the crowds and traffic right in Bar Harbor. It was in a peaceful setting, yet a very short drive to Bar Harbor and Acadia. The breakfasts were superb, as was the service. All of the staff were very attentive especially the innkeepers, Jack and Jeannie. Jack is one of those rare people that upon meeting him for the first time, you felt like you've known him for years. We wold definitely return.

Could only have been better with more days

5 on August 08, 2011

Spent 3 nites at the Inn and loved it. The grounds and gardens(can compete with Thuya Gardens any day)were lovely and delightful to look at with that second cup of coffee. The dining suggestions, and we tried all, included Thurstons, Abel's, Jordan Pond Restaurant, Galyn's and Reading Room were all scrumptious. Jeani and Jack (so proud of the inn and happy to point out treasures within) were great hosts along with Mady(rhymes with lady and Lucia. Of course, driving through and hiking in Acadia brought back memories of our trip from 38 summers past. We left with a promise to return next year and introduce the inn to lifelong friends from Newton Ma. Can't wait.

Great Inn

4.4 on August 08, 2011

We stayed in the Garden Room, which is the Inn's "budget room" and the only one without a view of the water. It was absolutely wonderful and we did not miss the ocean view at all because we could take advantage of the view from the terrace at breakfast time. The breakfast is delicious with a different baked good each morning, fresh granola, and a gourmet hot entree. The afternoon tea snacks are always freshly prepared and equally delicious. The inn keepers were very helpful at providing advice regarding daily activities and restaurants. We would definitely come back.

perfect stay

i had the smallest room in the house with the most amazing bathroom. Very compy and perfectly clean and neat. Lovely bfast in the morning, just a little less sweet would have been good!

Jack and jean very friendly, helpful. A good place to stay.

4.0 on August 06, 2011

Would stay there again if in Bar Harbor. Only criticism was the bathroom in Room 8. Hot tub made the bathroom too small. It was difficult to use as a shower. Room 8 had a very nice porch and a great view of the bay.

Beautiful Setting

3.4 on August 04, 2011

What a beautiful setting. We loved sitting on the porch and looking out over the bay. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. The owners are delightful and very helpful. The only disappointment was the breakfast.

Cottage stay

4.6 on August 03, 2011

Very beautiful Inn. Our cottage was cosy and clean. The Innkeepers are very nice people. It is definetely worth the price.

So relaxing.

4.6 on August 02, 2011

I've stayed at many B&B's and I must say, this is one of the better Inn's I have visited. I debated on staying downtown to be closer to the restaurants but I am so happy that I decided against it. The noise goes late into the night and very few of the affordable downtown B&B's have a nice view and the relaxing feel like the Inn at Bay Ledge. The breakfast at Bay ledge was wonderful and we really liked how you had several seating choices and were not forced to sit with others if you did not wish to. The view was spectacular. We opted to stay in one of the cottages across the street and I was very happy with our choice. Not only was the room spacious, much larger than most B&B rooms and VERY nice, but we had total privacy and a private porch. I took a peek into some of the main Inn rooms when they were open for cleaning and they were smaller then ours. The walk to the main inn only took 15 seconds and we had total access to the back porch of the inn to take in the beautiful view and the lawn lounge chairs to do our crossword puzzles after breakfast. I would most definately recommend this Inn for your stay.

loved it

4.4 on August 01, 2011

We stayed in the Bear Lodge. The room was amazing. We felt like we were tucked away from the world. It does only have a shower, but that was okay after hiking in Acadia all day. The bed was extremely comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. You definately don't leave their hungry. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Would definately stay there again.

4.2 on July 29, 2011

Inn keepers were very engaging and went out of their way to be helpful. Breakfasts were very good but not quite hearty enough for us.

Loved it!

5 on July 24, 2011

The Inn is beautiful and the garden, which overlooks the bay, is gorgeous. My favorite reading place is a perch on the cliff overlooking the bay. The breakfasts are delicious, beautifully presented and healthy, with freshly baked muffins and breads. The owners are knowledgable about area restaurants and activities and seem delighted to help make your stay a pleasant one. We would stay here again. Peg

A Little Piece of Heaven

4.8 on July 17, 2011

The Inn at Bay Ledge is a very special treat. The minute you turn onto Sand Point Road you know that there is something very different about this inn. Perched on a cliff above the bay, the views are striking and spectacular. Once you walk inside this place you feel like you are home and you wish that it was your home. Extremely clean and comfortable. This is the best B&B I've ever had the fortune to visit. Thank you Jack and Jeani!

Fantastic experience

5 on July 14, 2011

Wonderful hospitality, they made us feel right at home. Great country breakfast in the morning, fresh flowers on all the tables fresh from their own gardens. The Inn is right on the ocean with a fantastic rocky beach! We couldn't have been more pleased with everything!

Maine hideaway

4.0 on July 12, 2011

My husband and I went on a road trip to Maine and had never stayed at a B&B before, so we thought we'd try it out. The Inn at Bay Ledge far exceeded our expectations. Everyone is very friendly and accommodating. The gourmet breakfasts were delicious, as were the afternoon tea and snack. The atmosphere was delightful and very fitting of the cheeriness of the area. The Inn's beach access allows a gorgeous walk on the beach (at low tide) and a beautiful view and photo ops of "The Ovens". We had a wonderful stay and would definitely stay again if we are in the area.

Beautiful Setting with Nice Rooms and Gracious Owners

Another great stay on Mt. Desert Island!

5 on June 20, 2011

We've been going back to the Inn at Bay Ledge on Mount Desert Island for 15-20 years now--and each stay has been a real pleasure. From the peaceful surroundings to the picture-perfect view, gracious and informative hosts, delicious breakfasts (and afternoon snacks), excellent accommodations . . . well, it just doesn't get any better than this!!

Like staying with family!

4.6 on June 16, 2011

Jack and Jeani were the nicest couple and not only fed us the most wonderful breakfast every morning, but also gave us useful information while we were visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia. The Inn had a lovely view and garden area as well as a small cove that you can get to during low tide. We stayed in the bear cabin that was across the street from the inn somewhat secluded in the woods with a nice fire place on a cold night. If you are looking for a comfortable & quiet place to stay in Bar Harbor, I would certainly recommend this B&B. We enjoyed the area and towns and would certainly love to return to this Inn because Jack & Jeani made us feel like we were staying with family.

Weekend Getaway

Fabulous hostess greeted us upon our arrival and gave us a tour of the facilities. The hostess and owners were very good resources to the local attractions.

WILL be back by September

5 on May 24, 2011

Our flight to Portland left us straining to get to Bar Harbor before the early hours of the morning. I called on the drive up (about 9 PM), got Shirley who was very nice, telling me she'd leave the front door ajar and our key to our 'cottage', along with a note welcoming us on the front desk. We arrived at 12:30 AM, found the key and wonderful note. We made out way to our cottage, to find all the lights on and a fire going in the fireplace for us. Jack and Jean and Shirley KNOW hospitality......and I come from the south where it is our hallmark. The cottage was absolutely amazing, wonderfully decorated and more comfortable that we ever imagined. Combined with Jack and Jean's wonderful conversation and gourmet breakfasts every morning, we have already begun planning our trip back for September. The Inn is spectacular, as are the views from their comfortable back porch and large wonderfully landscaped yard. If you are going anywhere near Bar Harbor, THIS is the place to stay. We highly recommend it.

My wife and I didn't have a room on the Sunday we arrived in Bar Harbor and decided to stay at a B&B for the first evening. We were not disappointed with this selection. We had a wonderful room, cozy with a fireplace, and the view was breathtaking. The hosts were very accommodating and breakfast was amazing. We would highly recommend this stay and will be sure to come back here on our next visit.

Last minute decision

We found the Inn on-line while looking for something quiet and actually on the coast. Our experience there definitely exceeded our expectations: this should have been our destination, not just a stop! Jack and Jeani are great at making you feel at home in their lovely property. And the location above this high point on the coast is truly outstanding. Great place to get away from it all.

A B&B not to be missed!!

Just returned from a wonderful stay here. Jeani & Jack welcomed us into their beautifully picturesque Inn, accompanied by Jeani's incredible breakfasts. Having problems with our car, they immediately offered us theirs without hesitation! They couldn't have done more to make us feel welcome. We'll certainly be recommending The Inn at Bay Ledge to relatives and friends. Thank you!!!

We keep going and going and going!

Given the positive experiences we have had, my husband and I have chosen to return to the Inn at Bay Ledge for the last five years. We love the hospitality, speciality breakfasts and a comfortable room to relax in. We recommend this B & B, the Bar Harbor area, Acadia national Park and Jeani's cookies without hesitation!

I'm now an Inn person

5 on October 31, 2009

My wife & I are really not Inn people but decided to stay at one while visiting Bar Harbor. Checked into the Inn at Bay Ledge & it just got better hour by hour. jack & jennie, the owners, could not have been more hospitable, friendly, & caring. I thought that i was staying with dear friends. Their inn is beautifully situated on the ocean ledge, cosy, clean, & their rooms are a treat just to see, let alone stay in. they serve breakfast only & jeanie provides a gourmet breakfast daily. From fresh fruit to homemade breads to muffins to soufles.....& it is just right. Jack is there at breakfast insuring that you have all that you want with jeanie's breakfasts from topping off your coffee to fresh whipped dairy butter for the hot muffins to jellies & jams that are made locally. He will also tell you stories about the island, suggest where to go for the day & inform you of the best places to eat lunch & dinner. Am I now a person who will always stay at inns...probably not but when I am on the Island here at bar harbor, The Inn at Bay Ledge will always be the place that we will stay at.

Fantastic week!

The Place to Stay When Visiting Bar Harbor Area

5 on September 10, 2007

I have wanted to visit the Bar Harbor area for a long time. So once my visit was scheduled, I spent hours online trying to find the "best" B&B available. I feel like I succeeded by selecting The Inn at Bay Ledge--which (unlike so many inns) is even better on site than online! Everything about this incredible inn is top-notch, and it has the added benefit of being a waterfront property with its own private beach. I have visited hundreds of B&Bs in this country and abroad, and I can vouch for The Inn at Bay Ledge being a classy inn which is only rivalled by the exceptional service, attention-to-detail, and gracious hospitality of the on-site owners and staff. I hope to visit this beautiful area of the country again. When I do, Inn at Bay Ledge is where I plan to stay.
