Parkside on Ellery in Cambridge, Massachusetts has been described by a guest as having “…all the comforts of home and all the privacy of a hotel”. Built in 1865, this post Civil War Victorian has been renovated for modern comforts. While this B&B in a garden setting maintains a relaxed atmosphere, it is just a ten-minute walk to bustling Harvard Square. The Bed and Breakfast is also perfectly located for university visits, experiencing historic Boston or day trips to quaint Cape Cod. Three unique guestrooms featuring private entrances, private baths, complimentary local telephone service and internet access. The Victorian Room is decorated with American Renaissance period furniture of rosewood and walnut. American and Asian inspired simplicity invites guests to enjoy the treetops in the cheery Cambridge Room. Chinese lions welcome guests to the tranquil, study-like, Scholar Room. A continental breakfast menu offers choices of regular or decaffeinated coffee and tea, English muffins with assorted jams and muesli cereal. Breakfast is served in-room. Parking is on-street with a provided permit.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Parkside on Ellery. From the excellent, easy-to-follow directions for using (free) public transportation that David forwarded before my arrival in Boston to the good-sized room, furnished with antique furniture, to the warm welcome and excellent location, all aspects of my stay were very good. David is a very experienced host and has thought through all the details, including a clever system for ordering and delivering breakfast to each guestroom. Highly recommended.

A clean, comfortable room neat Harvard university. The owener is very knowladgable and willing to help alas hard to get by phone (no cell phone). Nice garden and good location in Cambridge. We enjoyed our stay there. Breakfast was very good and nicely served.

The room we rented at Parkside on Ellery was comfortable and cozy, and the breakfast was simple but delicious and very well presented. The house itself is extremely well located in Cambridge. My only comment is that it would be good to include in the description that the bed is a double; we were expecting something a little bigger.

We stayed in The Scholar room. Comfortable and clean room. Room was small but thoughtfully laid out and well appointed. David was a great host. We walked and biked everywhere. Close to Harvard, museums, and restaurants.Very homey feel.

We stayed at this B&B one night only while visiting our son at Harvard. The B&B is excellently located for just about all purposes in Cambridge -- within easy walking distance of the university and any number of good restaurants. The proprietor was helpful and friendly. The neighborhood is pleasant and parking is assured with a permit that comes with the booking. A good experience. I was prepared to book again for a second weekend about 2 months later, but Parkside was already fully booked!

I stayed at Parkside on Ellery for two weeks in February, 2015 - the worst weather in Boston history! But - my room was warm and clean and the staff accommodating. The location is ideal (if it's not too cold and snowy to get around).

I am a Harvard student and my mother came to visit me for a few days the week before Commencement 2014. I had to make a last minute reservation and was a bit uncertain about picking a bed and breakfast over a hotel. Now, I have to say that I won't ever have my mother staying anywhere else but Parkside on Ellery on her future visits. Hell, I'm even thinking about renting a room there once a year to come back and visit Cambridge once I'm gone. That little place went far beyond my expectations. And my mother loved it so much she decided to extend her stay. She had the room called "The Scholar", which is, I think, a lot nicer and has more personality than any other standard hotel room I have personally been in. It has all the appliances of a hotel room, plus the qualities of a home. And David, the owner, is such a nice man. The neighborhood is quiet and your are a 10 minute walk away from Harvard Square. I almost hesitate to recommend that place because I want to keep it for myself as my little hidden gem!
The Victorian Suite is decorated with richly carved furniture made of walnut and rosewood from the American Renaissance period. This B&B suite's warm and welcoming atmosphere is presented in a comfortable Victorian era setting. Enjoy views of Cambridge and our garden from all four windows in the suite.
The Cambridge suite provides all the comforts and convenience to help make your stay for the 360th Harvard University Commencement, a memorable event. The Cambridge, in a quiet, rear location, overlooking the tree tops, has a breakfast alcove and provides a tranquil retreat with a king size bed for guests. This light and airy B&B suite contains American and Far East inspired decorations that take you on a world tour. Whether enjoying the views from the room or the pleasantries inside the room, the Cambridge Suite is a choice destination.
A walk through the garden of Parkside Bed and Breakfast leads you to the private entrance of the Scholar suite which is located on the basement level of the B&B. This suite is warm, serene, and comfortably appointed with Chinese decorative accents and contemporary furniture. The Scholar’s south facing window provides the room with plentiful light and a garden view.
