Parkside on Ellery in Cambridge, Massachusetts has been described by a guest as having “…all the comforts of home and all the privacy of a hotel”. Built in 1865, this post Civil War Victorian has been renovated for modern comforts. While this B&B in a garden setting maintains a relaxed atmosphere, it is just a ten-minute walk to bustling Harvard Square. The Bed and Breakfast is also perfectly located for university visits, experiencing historic Boston or day trips to quaint Cape Cod. Three unique guestrooms featuring private entrances, private baths, complimentary local telephone service and internet access. The Victorian Room is decorated with American Renaissance period furniture of rosewood and walnut. American and Asian inspired simplicity invites guests to enjoy the treetops in the cheery Cambridge Room. Chinese lions welcome guests to the tranquil, study-like, Scholar Room. A continental breakfast menu offers choices of regular or decaffeinated coffee and tea, English muffins with assorted jams and muesli cereal. Breakfast is served in-room. Parking is on-street with a provided permit.

First off, clean well kept B&B in the heart of Cambridge. Easy walking everywhere. I would hardly call it a B&B though when breakfast consists of coffee and juice. However the coffee WAS amazing. Liked the privacy, basically no room service. They do not re-enter your room until you leave. The bed however was unbelievable small. Pretty sure it was a full, we sleep in a king. So needless to say things were cozy. Overall nice B&B IF you understand in advance what you are and are not getting. Housekeepers were very informative and helpful.

The room was lovely and the convenience to Harvard can't be beat. The steps to the room are extremely steep which is problematic if you have mobility issues. David was wonderful.

The Parkside on Ellery has many things going for it. First off, it's charming. It's also well-appointed, quiet, and a nice walk (or short taxi ride) from Harvard and Central Squares. One is greeted with warm hospitality from the owner who explains what you need to know before giving you your privacy. Breakfast service, while modest, was delivered to me (in Room 1) via a private access, which was different. It's hard to describe here but it basically meant I could eat in my room in my PJs, knowing that I would not be seen at all. The view from my room was of the park/library across the street, which was very nice. And. the mattress was great! The older I get, the more I appreciate that.

David is a wonderful host. I had contacted him to say I would be a late check in and he was waiting out the front for me when I arrived. He also gave me some wonderful suggestions about where to eat and visit during my stay. The room is charming and I lived the breakfasts. What more can I say but thank you for being a wonderful host and for providing such a relaxing and comfortable place to stay. I will definitely return if I am visiting Boston again.

A quick walk into central Cambridge. Nicely furnished, clean and very comfortable. Breakfast is light but tasty and on-time. A reasonable price compared to local hotels and other B&Bs. Owner does a nice job of making this a great place to stay!

I loved my stay at the Ellery! Our host was wonderful and provided just the right touch of friendly and attentive but also allowing privacy and autonomy. Took his recommendation on what to see and do in Cambridge and had a great trip. Will definitely stay here again!

David is a great host! I enjoyed my stay in the Ellery B&B - the basement room available was basic but made for a great "home base" for my time at Harvard.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Parkside on Ellery. From the excellent, easy-to-follow directions for using (free) public transportation that David forwarded before my arrival in Boston to the good-sized room, furnished with antique furniture, to the warm welcome and excellent location, all aspects of my stay were very good. David is a very experienced host and has thought through all the details, including a clever system for ordering and delivering breakfast to each guestroom. Highly recommended.
