We arrived a few hours early,as we requested, and Shirley had out room ready. We stayed in the Empire Suit in the Printer House. The room was spacious, comfortable and clean. The parlour and bathroom was clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with all that you could need. Shirley and Chris were warm and such amazing hosts. Shirley gave us a breakdown of different places we could visit and history of the house. In the mornings we had breakfast, which was delicious, as well as coffee/tea. They inquired about our plans and made themselves available at all times. In addition, we left the day before Thanksgiving and we got a sweet text from Shirley wishing us a happy thanksgiving. We plan to return again when we wish to go back to St. Francisville.

Host was fantastic and very knowledgeable of local history. Rooms were spacious with a very large sitting area. We had 24-hour access to Kitchen and beverages. House located on the oldest street in St. Francisville in a very quit neighborhood.

Our stay with Ms. Shirley and her son, Chris, qualifies as our best Bed and Breakfast experience to date. What a relaxing setting. We spent two nights in the Victorian Room. It's a two room suite in the historic Printers House across the street from the main Barrow House. Evenings on the deep set porch spent rocking and watching the squirrels scamper up and down the magnolia and oak trees, relaxing in the sitting room with a good book ( I read A Confederacy of Dunces from the house book shelf), sleeping in 1870's french queen bed, only to wake up and enjoy a magnificent breakfast is the perfect prescription if you are looking for a way to escape your world for a while. I must tell you, the Basin St. Eggs Benedict was so good I had it twice. Ms. Shirley and Chris keep the Printers House well stocked with everything you need. In fact the kitchen has a cabinet dedicated to things you may have forgotten to pack. You will want for nothing during your stay. As we traveled to many historic destinations in the area, we were always asked where we were staying. When we said Barrow House, without exception, we watched as the ones asking beamed giant smiles and gave the house and the hosts glowing reviews. They gave us great advice to help us plan our days. Ms. Shirley and Chris are gracious hosts and have been at Barrow House for decades. They know the area well and will gladly share interesting stories about the people and places that make St. Francisville such a unique destination.

We got married at the Barrow House but we stayed across the street at the Printer's House. I can not say enough good things about the hostess Shirley she was charming, kind, gracious, and very accommodating. We had a suite that was very spacious and comfortable. She provides all of the little extra touches to make your stay a memorable one. I definitely recommend this place and will stay there again soon. The breakfast is also plentiful and of excellent quality I would give Shirley and her houses a million stars!!!!!!!!!

My wife and I will book Barrow House again next time we visit St. Francisville (and we will, because one weekend is not enough to see-and-do all in this historic community). The location in the historic district is ideal. The hostess is ever-available and super-attentive without being intrusive. The suite we rented was quaint. The house was filled with interest. The three-egg gourmet breakfasts each morning were supreme. Sure, it's an old house--a very old house!---so it has some old-house issues, but we were comfortable and hosted supremely.

The Victorian Room at the Barrow House Inn was cozy and comfortable. Shirley and Chris were wonderful hostess and host and we enjoyed visiting with them. They are very knowledgeable of the area and shared great places to visit while in St. Francisville. The bathroom in our room was very small (it was an add on) but in all the room was very comfortable.

Barrow House B&B did an outstanding job of combining the quiet southern retreat with all of the modern anemitites I needed for my weekend attending The Writing Symposium in St. Francisville. Ms. Shirley and her son Chris, did a wonderful job of making sure I was attended to and snuggled into a nice warm comfortable bed each night. The Rose Room was such a delight! I loved sleeping in a teester bed! Oh my, can't wait until next year when I shall return! Patricia Landry Settoon

Baton Rouge, LA (BTR-Baton Rouge Metro Ryan Fla.) 25 miles
From New Orleans: Take I-10 into Baton Rouge. Near the Mississippi River bridge, you will come to the I-10 and 110 North split. Take 110 N. Then take Exit 8-C to Natchez, the very last exit off 110 N to Highway 61. Drive about 25 miles and then come to a stop light on the outskirts of the town. Turn left at this stop light onto Commerce Street. In about a mile, you will reach another stop light (the only stop light in the town itself). Turn left onto Ferdinand (the main street in the historic district) and drive for about 3/4 mile until you see our courthouse on your left. Barrow House Inn is directly behind the courthouse on Royal Street, so you can turn left before or after the courthouse. The inn is a large white house with a dark green sign in front.
