Come enjoy a southern hospitality and a relaxing stay in this country Cajun home; 30 min. from the N.O. airport, 10 min. from Thibodaux, 15 min. from Houma. Near airboat rides, swamp tours, and plantation homes. Rest in the hammock and watch the bayou flow slowly by or rock in the comfortable rockers on the back porch. Watch the water birds searching the floating vegetation for food. Catch sight of a bald eagle soaring over the bayou where fish are jumping. Catch a glimpse of an alligator raise its head above water or an egret perched on the wharf. Hear the sounds of birds, crickets, owls, and bullfrogs.

On May 21-22, 2016 my husband and I were guests at A Chateau on the Bayou in Raceland, Louisiana. The wonderful hospitality shown by the hostess Claudette Pitre was amazing! We found the rooms to be quaint and lovely. We particularly enjoyed sitting on the back porch early in the morning. The quiet sounds of nature were relaxing. It brought us back to our childhood days. It was neat and very clean. The breakfast was delightful. If you are looking for a nice, quiet, relaxing get away, this is the place for you. Ms. Pitre was also knowledgeable on info of attractions.

This was my second visit and it was as enjoyable as the first. I'm a corporate pilot, so I stay in a lot of hotels. Miss Claudette's B&B is a comfortable and refreshing change of pace. The rooms are nice and very comfortable; although, I don't spend much time in them because there is always so much to do, see, and eat in the area. I rode the air boat tour again and highly recommend it. Be sure to request the supercharged boat. Also, Miss Claudette recommended a tour of a local distillery. I have a new favorite rum and all of the ingredients are locally produced. I recommend the distillery tour even if you are not an alcohol drinker. Miss Claudette provided many other tour options but we just didn't have enough time. Maybe next time, Miss Claudette!

If you want a clean, cozy, economical place to relax in a quiet, rural environment to get away from it all, but with the conveniences of internet and TV at your fingertips, then “A Chateau on the Bayou” is for you! Claudette, the hostess and owner, was most accommodating; and she had the scoop on places to go and things to do in the Bayou Lafourche area and surrounding Cajun country. Her mouthwatering home cooked breakfasts were prepared with a touch of love that made them extra special. The covered porch along the back of the house provided a comfortable vantage point from which we marveled at the flash of lightning, the rumble of thunder and the gentle cascade of falling rain from a thunder storm rolling across the bayou. And, if you want an up-close look at southern swamps and marshes adorned with moss laden cypress trees, bald eagle nests, water hyacinth, herons, egrets, turtles, bullfrogs and BIG alligators, then take the exciting airboat tour on nearby Lake Des Allemands, which we found to be both exhilarating and educational. Yes, A Chateau on the Bayou was just what we were looking for, and we can’t wait to return. ~ Michael and Debbie

Chateau on the Bayou B & B was the perfect oasis during my visit to historic Bayou Lafourche. Located only 35 miles due south of New Orleans, Ms. Claudette's B & B provided the rest and relaxation needed after fun days filled with touring this gorgeous historic region of south Louisiana. Short distances away are antebellum plantations including Oak Alley, Houmas House, Laura Plantation and many others. The region is filled with massive 200 plus year old oak trees, alligator and swamp tours, airboat tours, lakes for great fishing, the resort town of Grand Isles, the historic town of Thibodeaux and numerous destinations that celebrate Louisiana's rich cultural heritage. The accommodations at Chateau B & B are exceptional. The large comfy bedrooms are pristine as are the clean bathrooms and great living space with welcoming large kitchen and breakfast area. Ms. Claudette prepares the best breakfast south of New Orleans. The wrap-around front porch and outdoor bayou-side location features areas for relaxing and enjoying a Louisiana sunset. Ms. Claudette provides hospitality with a capital H. I highly recommend a multi-night stay at Chateau on the Bayou B & B. Steve Albert, New York, New York

I had the pleasure of staying at the Chateau on the Bayou B&B for a week. Ms. Claudette was a wonderful host and bent over backwards to make sure I was taken care of and the accommodations were top notch yet very affordable. The house is beautiful, very quaint and full of southern charm. Ms. Claudette made me feel very comfortable and right at home. Because the Chateau is located just a few miles from the highway, it was easy to drive around to neighboring towns and even north to New Orleans. I definitely would recommend taking time to visit with Ms. Claudette and enjoy a stay at the Chateau on the Bayou B&B. I hope to visit again some day!

My husband and I needed a place to stay for two nights just before the end of our vacation. We wanted to be fairly close to New Orleans but still out on the bayou. Claudette had been planning to take a break from having guests, but she graciously took us in. She was so helpful, providing all kinds of information about what to see and do in the area, where to eat, etc. And her breakfasts were absolutely scrumptious--perhaps the fluffiest omelet and most awesome French toast I have ever had. We enjoyed the rocking chairs on the back porch and would have spent significant time in the hammock if we had stayed longer! We bathed in the claw-foot tub; water was hot and water pressure was very good (not true of all B&Bs we stayed in on this trip). We were missing our own cats, left at home, but Baby and Minu, a little shy at first, warmed up to us and invited us to give belly rubs and ear scratches. We highly recommend A Chateau!

Excellent B&B, bien positionné dans le triangle Thibodeaux, Houma, NO et situé dans un environnement très agréable sur le bord du bayou. Accueil très chaleureux et convivial de son hôtesse, une étape sympathique à recommander.

Claudette, hostess, is a breathe of fresh air and sunshine combined. Knowledgeable about the area, kind and helpful. Explained about need for shower, she made calls to switch rooms for our arrival date. Attentative to details. Restaurant suggestions excellent. Plantation tour, package for airboat ride & swamp tour all a Lousiana historical flavor. See you again, Claudette! Blessings, The Jaques
