Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Cut butter into pieces and combine with flour mixture until mixture resembles coarse corn meal. Add chips and dried cranberries. Make a well and pour in the egg mixed with buttermilk. Gently mix only until combined. Do not over mix!
Drop onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 13-15 minutes until slightly brown.
Note: These can be frozen prior to baking. Just put the baking sheet in the freezer, remove unbaked scones when frozen and store in plastic bag. Take out as many as you need and bake for 13-15 minutes. Great time saver!
