Peel and core apples, Fill center of each with sugar, butter, sprinkle of cinnamon. Roll out puff pastry on lightly floured surface and cut into four sqaures large enough to enclose an apple. Arrange apple in center of each square. Brush pastry with water, then fold pastry around apple to enclose. Brush with egg wash.
Arrange on baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in oven 45 minutes or until fruit is tender and pastry golden brown. Lightly cover with foil if pastry becomes too brown.
