Tres bonne adresse

Comfort and character

5 on June 21, 2017

The Stockade was our home away from home 5 years ago when a family illness meant we spent many long weekends in Baton Rouge. It was a joyful homecoming to return after all this time. The comfort of our king size bed and sitting area, the many windows and back patio, a fun and delicious breakfast with interesting guests, and boiled seafood right across the street. Janice is wonderful at making sure you have what you need.

Innkeeper Response
Thank you for remembering The Stockade after all these years. We appreciate your kind words and your 5-Star review. We were happy to have you back staying with us and hope you won't have to wait that long before visiting us again.

Enjoyed It - Would Stay There Again

5 on February 13, 2017

This was our first stay at a B&B ever. We didn't know what to expect, but the Stockade was great. We are local but had never heard of the place before we booked it. The staff are nice and we hardly knew they were there except for the great service they provided. There are several great local restaurant within walking distance. Otherwise you will need to drive (though Uber and Lyft are great alternatives) The L'Auberge casino is nearby too. The room was comfy, and there was a nice balcony to sit on in the morning to enjoy the in-room breakfast which was also really good (and we're picky eaters). I really think that we will stay there again in the future.

Innkeeper Response

Fealt Like Home Away From Home

4.0 on February 06, 2017

This was my 1st stay at a B&B. The price was fair, the accommodations very comfortable, and the "welcome" was warm. If this is "standard" for B&B's, then hotels will never see me again. The Stockade reminded me very much of home with southern charm and hospitality. It was a GREAT stay!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Stockade. We stayed in the blue room on the second floor and it was awesome ! Beautifully decorated, very private with a balcony and a wonderful view of the woods . The breakfasts were a treat to round out a great Anniversary weekend ! We would highly recommend a stay at The Stockade !

Innkeeper Response

A treat in Baton Rouge!

4.6 on December 19, 2016

My husband and I were in Baton Rouge for an overnight visit. Janice, at the Stockade, suggested places to visit and a great place to get some dinner. After dinner we sat on our private balcony enjoying a lovely evening. The bed was comfortable and the following morning our breakfast was made to order and very satisfying. We would stay there again when we return to town.

Excellent

Signature Dish

Breakfast Frittata
It can be made with just about anything added, and the guests love it. Ingredients: 8 eggs ½ c. milk 4 green onions, chopped ¼ c. red & green bell pepper, chopped and mixed  8 asparagus stems, steamed ¾ c. pepper jack cheese, shredded Tony Chachere’s seasoning Directions: Scramble eggs with milk, leave uncooked. Butter a 12” skillet and sauté onions and bell pepper. When soft, add egg mixture. Cook covered over medium-low heat. When cooking, lift and move uncooked mixture under cooked mixture until done. Put cheese on top and place under broiler until melted. When done, turn onto serving platter and slice like pizza (that’s why some of our guests call this “breakfast pizza”). Place asparagus spears on each slice as garnish. Serves 4 to 8, depending on how hungry everybody is.
