Tucker House is an 1840 National Register homestead that has been meticulously restored to its original simple beauty. Set upon five gorgeous acres which include woods, a spring-fed lake, the original stone springhouse, gardens and a huge in-ground pool, this brick, Federal-style farmhouse is only fifteen minutes to downtown and two minutes from a major interstate highway. Inside you will find the original cherry staircase and poplar-board floors, seven fireplaces, seeded-glass window panes, and rooms filled with antiques of the early 1800's. In the morning, you will awaken to the aromas of freshly-ground coffee brewing and bacon on the griddle. Your sumptuous breakfasts may either be served to you in the formal dining room on antique china, in the sunlit gathering room on Kentucky pottery, or on the deck overlooking the woods and gardens. We warmly invite you to come and enjoy the history, beauty and hospitality that await you here at Tucker House!

Five stars just doesn't do this cozy, romantic inn the justice it deserves. I selected a night at this inn (after extensive research) as a Christmas present for me and my ladyfriend. I thought we would take a night in Louisville, have dinner, and stay at a comfortable bed and breakfast. The Tucker House is a wonder. It's a beautiful, nationally-registered historic home, replete with fine period antiques. Everything from the carefully laid brick to the original wood floors--it's a treat for the senses. We were greeted by Steve, who showed us the dining room (where there were fresh cookies) and escorted us to our room--The Courting Chamber--on the second floor, where there was also a balcony and a private bathroom with a two-person bathtub. Steve was friendly and accommodating, leaving us keys and telling us breakfast would be at nine the following morning. The house was immaculately clean and smelled like sweet winter, with leftover notes of Christmas. We went out for dinner but were eager to get back to the room, where we slept on a comfortable bed with access to satellite TV. It was a great night. The grounds are also beautiful, and though it was muddy from recent rains, we were able to walk down to the ruins of the old spring house, and also pet the cat--Julep--sleeping in her bed. I also noticed they had a heated pad in the cat's basket. It's always nice to see pets well cared for. Anyway, the breakfast was exquisite. We were the only ones at the inn that morning, but the owners spared no expense. The first course was a sweet grilled grapefruit topped with sliced grapes and fresh blueberries. The second course was signature-recipe scrambled eggs that were truly delicious and crispy bacon. This was followed by the third course--gingerbread pancakes with hot maple syrup. The flavor of those pancakes seemed to resonate with the post-Christmas feel of the inn. We were kept well stocked on coffee, tea, orange juice, and water.

My fiance and I stayed at 1840 Tucker House and loved every minute of it. From the fabulous owners that made us feel so at home, to the best breakfast in Louisville, everything was top notch. My favorite part though were the small touches everywhere that makes you feel like you have gone back in time and sleep in the 1800's, but you get all of the conveniences of modern modern technology. The owners have really put their heart into this place and it shows. I highly recommend 1840 Tucker House Alyssa and Hampton

Had a wonderful stay over Easter. We stayed in the Traveler’s room and it was great. The house is fabulous and we were amazed at the detail in the kitchen to make it look authentic but with all the modern conveniences. I would definitely stay here again! PS hope everyone had fun at Disney :)

My husband and I hated to leave the Tucker House! The owners, Steve and Devona, were delightful and hit the right note as innkeepers to ensure that our visit was perfect. Their attention to detail was everywhere; the beautiful restorations and wonderful antiques throughout combined to make us very comfortable without feeling we were in a museum. Breakfast was delicious and relaxed, despite the fact that the innkeepers were hosting 25 family members and friends for Thanksgiving dinner a mere 6 hours after we finished breakfast! Martha Stewart, look out!
