The Foria House B&B

Via Foria, 153 , Naples, 80137 Italy (Show map)

We walked into this abandoned, run-down, 18th century apartment and immediately knew it was the spot we were looking for. Each square inch seemed stuffed with a story to tell, and we wanted to hear it (or maybe tell it). Staring up into the building's atrium, you can see the wrinkles of this two-hundered-year-old edifice. The stairwell made of vulcanic piperno stones have been slowly rubbed and softened, as if they were made of butter. As you walk into the apartment, you can feel its origins: high ceilings, granite cement tiles, scrap-marble flooring, wide open rooms leading one into the next without hallways. Our design ethos: keep it original. Many of the furnishings were taken from the house itself and given a second life. Old windows and doors became headboards. Extra floor tiles were framed on the walls as "art". Furniture from the ex printing press were up-cycled and put to good use. The end product is one of a kind, but easy to enjoy. And then, the cherry on top: Hidden behind a rusty old gate is a quiet pocket of peaceful respite. The private back yard is like a time warp away from the city madness. Barbecue, bird feeders and lemon trees in downtown Naples? Really? Really.

This room was renovated using all the discarded doors and windows found inside the abandoned apartment when we signed the lease. High ceilings with tons of light coming in from the 10ft-tall windows which look out onto Via Foria. When you step out onto the balcony, you can look down the historic road and really get a taste of Naples life. Standard set with one king size bed and two single beds. One of the single beds can be removed to make space for a little living area if requested.

Spacious Triple

We tried to preserve what was there when we arrived. The hexagonal tiles are the same 1800's flooring from when the building was built. Local wood works and furnishings were purchased from neighborhood artisan and, with a little touch of our own, let you understand that we don't take ourselves too seriously. The 10ft-tall balcony window lets in tons of light while keeping out the noisy city. If you step out onto the balcony, "the noble balcony" as it was considered before elevators were invented, you can catch a taste of how real neapolitan life carries on.

  • Maximum Capacity: 3
  • Bathroom Private Bath
  • Beds 1 King , 1 Twin

Nightly Rate: EUR 55 - EUR 85
