Canal Street Inn

Located on (what else?) the world-famous Canal Street, Canal Street Inn is one of New Orleans’ most elegant bed and breakfasts. Canal Street was the original dividing line between the American and European sectors of the city, and the historic architecture of the inn (built in 1912) represents this dichotomy beautifully. Canal Street Inn offers six different guestroom accommodations and places an emphasis on Southern hospitality. While the amenities vary from room to room, guests are offered a filling breakfast and received as if they were friends of the mansion’s original owner, Mrs. Magdalena Holzer, herself. What makes Canal Street Inn more romantic than most is its intoxicating gardens, which surround the B&B on all sides. Sit beneath the shade of ancient oak trees as you enjoy a glass of complimentary wine on the patio and watch passersby make their way to the French Quarter via streetcar. Luxurious yet comfortable, Canal Street Inn is perfectly built for a getaway for two.

Grand Victorian Bed and Breakfast

Happily situated in New Orleans’ wealthy garden district, the Grand Victorian Bed & Breakfast recently restored this awe-inspiring Gilded Age mansion back to its former glory. The 7,600-square foot inn is decorated with opulent period furnishings - all of which date back to the turn of the century - and offers eight different rooms from which guests can choose. Each bedroom is named after a historic Louisiana plantation, and features high ceilings, a private bath and shower, personal central air and heat controls, custom-made mattresses, cable and wireless Internet. For a little extra romance, book either the Greenwood or Nottoway suites - they come equipped with private balconies, jacuzzi bathtubs and generous seating areas. A continental breakfast is served each day, and can be eaten in the Grand Victorian’s sun-drenched dining room or taken outside to be enjoyed on the porte-cochere balcony. Innkeeper Bonnie Rabe is a New Orleans native and will be able to give advice about where to find the most romantic spots (and restaurants) in the city - she’ll be a fantastic resource as you plan your trip.
