We stayed in the Alice's Snyder House Bed and Breakfast for a night short after Christmas. It was atmosphere of Alice's Snyder House which made our winter trip to Galena very special. If you like history and "travels in time" then the Alice's Snyder House is a great choice . Staff was very friendly, very hospitable and provided a great portion of information about the history of the city and house. In the scale of one to five, it was definitely 5 for this trip. We will be back again !

We recently spent one night at Alice's Snyder B & B. We don't usually stay at B & B's but thought it would be fun to try one. As we drove up we noticed right away that the property is very welcoming and well cared for! The house was decorated beautifully for the holidays and Joan, the inn owner, greeted us as we came inside. Joan showed us around and there were cookies, chocolates, water, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate in the parlor. Our room was very clean and even though the room we choose was one of the smaller rooms, it had an area outside the bedroom where we could put our bags. The bed was quite comfortable and we both slept well. Joan fixed a fantastic, huge breakfast for us which was delicious! We sat around the table and Joan answered a lot of questions and we talked about the history of the house, which was quite interesting. We will definitely stay here again and willrecommend this B & B to our friends.

Alice's is on the east side of the river, allowing for a beautiful walk to Grant's home and also to the walk bridge (in Grant's park) to take you across to downtown Galena. Such a pretty view from the east side! Joan was gracious, hospitable and kind! The breakfast was outstanding! Truly a gourmet experience. Well done, Joan! And, thanks for sharing ALEXA with us while we drank our coffee! Cheers! John & Alena

Joan was a very sweet hostess. Her breakfast is one of the best I’ve tasted. She and her friend Emily gave us a nice background and history of Galena. Very close to town and very near exhibits. We’ll go back and enjoy their Cozy home. As they say “ the hostess with the mostest”.

I wish I could have stayed longer . As I booked the room in October at short notice it was already fully booked on Friday on Saturday. When I arrived on Sunday afternoon I was immediately made welcome by Joan and and supported in many different ways: free coffee and cookies were provided, I was allowed access to her PC when I needed to print out my boarding pass etc. I had not expected the ample and obviously typical cooked American breakfast, though as a German I could not manage the meatsauce, sorry Joan! Thanks for a lovely stay. I hope to come back again.

We are first greeted by day with a warm smile by Dave, great conversation and a tour of the home. We stayed in the family room love the brightness connected bathroom slept comfortable. Did have to wear air plugs because I'm such a light sleeper her. Gave us suggestions on where to sightsee and Galena. The next morning for breakfast was excellent. I had sent a request stating I was good and free and she accommodated my breakfast 100%. It was amazing pancakes with strawberry compos with whip cream, a French toast Roll with cream cheese in the middle and some sugar on the outside, egg bake, fresh fruit, coffee, tea, fresh orange juice, and mango peach juice. Also told us about the horseshoe Mound that gives you a panoramic view of Wisconsin Illinois and Iowa. Absolutely worth the drive it was beautiful would highly recommend this B&B.

The breakfast Joan fixed for us was truly a feast and I was delighted she prepared mine with a meat substitute so I could enjoy the 'same' breakfast as the others - a 3 part meal including dessert! Fresh cookies on arrival, 'help yourself' beverages, and a fridge to store our own ice packs/food from previous nights camping-a relief. The decor was perfect, the eco-friendly toiletries (in dispensers to avoid plastic consumption) was most appreciated, and we were delighted to learn some history of the home and area. Highly recommend.
