Out host Jon was warm and welcoming. The entire place was quaint and very clean. The home cooked breakfast was great and better than I had expected. This is definitely a place we will visit again.
We really enjoyed our short stay at this B&B. The host was very friendly and we enjoyed the use of the common area in the evening when we came back from dinner in town. There's a chicken coop full of feathered beauties and a little path down to the creek. It's not super quiet as it is right off the main road and can be quite loud when you're relaxing in the beautiful hammocks they have provided under the trees. The rooms are behind the main building though so the rooms are quiet. The breakfast in the morning is absolutely delicious and we enjoyed the appetizers in the evening while we were paying board games (provided) and looking through the large library of books. It's close to town and hiking trails as well. It's an all together very charming place and a great getaway from Los Angeles if you only have a day or two. This was my first visit to Idyllwild so I don't have any other B&B's to compare it to but I felt like we picked a good one!
My wife and I stayed at the Rainbow In B&B in Idyllwild. We were looking to get away a couple days and relax and that is exactly what it was. John was super nice and accommodating, the room was very nice and the breakfast superb. My wife cannot eat gluten and limits sugar and the breakfast fit the bill. The other guests at breakfast both days seemed equally satisfied.
This was our second stay at Strawberry Creek, the first one being our honeymoon. My wife and I fell in love with Strawberry Creek and Idyllwild and had to return. We stayed in the Gentlemen's Retreat which had been newly remodeled and it was fantastic. The room was clean with immaculate attention to detail in the theming. We could have stayed for a month. The food at Strawberry Creek was, as last time, delicious. They were very sensitive to our dietary restrictions (my wife is a celiac and we're both vegetarians), and the food did not suffer as a result. It's a great way to start the day and meet the other guests. The rest of the property is relaxing. We spent some time in town, but we also spent a lot of time just reading and writing in the hammock, in the gazebo, and next to chicken coop. The air is fresh and invigorating. We will be back again.
The minute my boyfriend and I arrived we felt the comfort and beauty of the inn. We stayed in the Country Gentleman room and were brought back in time and thoroughly enjoyed the array of classic books in the room. The food was delicious and the location was amazing...we could walk into town and along the creek. We will definitely come back!
John is extremely nice and attentive. The inn is a bastion of calm; it makes you want to spend the day there. If we ever find ourselves near Idyllwild again, we will not hesitate to return to the Rainbow Inn.
Everything was perfect from reservation to leaving. John's hospitality is unbeatable and he is literally working all the time to make his guests happy and his inn perfect. The grounds were very lovely, we enjoyed the patio to play games or have a picnic. We stayed in the Swan room and it was wonderful. The little refrigerator even had a tiny freezer that worked great and the A/C even had a remote which was very helpful. Decorations are perfect and John's lovely photography from around the world is amazing. Couldn't ask for anything more to just get away and relax which is exactly what we did. Breakfast is unbeatable and first thing everyone did was take a picture because it was as beautiful as it was delicious. Thanks John for your attention to detail in every aspect.
I simply love this place. The rooms are beautiful and the location is superb. John is a wonderful host and an excellent cook. It's a good home base for exploring the Idyllwild area or a place you can kick back and relax in if you feel like doing nothing. The movie collection John provides is impressive.
From reservations to checking out everything was perfect as everyone says. We stayed in the Swan Room and it worked out perfect. John is such a hard worker and literally every minute of the day you would see him working, cleaning or cooking to make all of his guests happy. As everyone says he thought of everything even reader glasses we saw on a coffee table. Even the A/C in our room had a remote. Would love to come again. Breakfast was amazing and first thing everyone did was to take a picture of it. It tasted as wonderful as it looked. Thanks for amazing hospitality.
This was the cutest place to stay at. I was greeted with a smile and warm welcome from the owners. Throughout the stay I felt right at home. From the comfort of a relaxing hammock to the inside living room that reminded me of my own home. You can walk the quiet nature trail just minutes to town and enjoy the sound of the birds and watching the squirals play in the trees.
The property is rustic and serene. There are many outside areas to relax and enjoy the scenery. The breakfasts were great and we really enjoyed ourselves. Its a great place to stay when you're discovering Idyllwild. We stayed in the San Jacinto room
The Grand Idyllwild Lodge was beyond my expectations ! We stayed in the Memory Suite which was beautiful and warm. Brad and Jacki made us feel like family from the first moment we met. They totally went out of their way for us. Check in and out was effortless. We will make the Grand Idyllwild Lodge a regular destination.
We only stayed for 1 night at the Rainbow Inn in Idyllwild and it was amazing. We stayed in the Swan Lake room and everything was perfect. The inn, our room, the grounds and breakfast . . . all perfect. I was their with my children, but I have already made reservations to go back in October for a romantic 2 night stay with my husband for his birthday.
The atmosphere is just right at this place, super relaxed, everything is very clean and it's the perfect mountain runaway from the big cities here in southern California, even though it was hot in idyllwild majority of the weekend the AC in the room kept us nice and cool when we weren't out and about exploring. I definitely will and have already recommended this place to several of my friends.
Needed a place to stay one night before picking up son at Astrocamp. The place was easy to find and close to Astrocamp. The owner contacted me a couple hours before we arrived to let me know he would not be there upon our arrival. He introduced himself and made arrangements for the key. The house was very charming. We had the Music Box room with 2 twin beds. Perfect for me and my daughter, as mentioned the bathroom was directly across hall and private to us. There were many movies, books and games available. Room had air conditioning Breakfast was awesome, I had let him know I was gluten free and vegetarian and he accomodated us. Everything was great would stay again.
I stayed one Saturday night in the middle of July. The room was clean and quiet. I read other reviewers complaining of being able to hear road noise, but I was in my room from 2:00 pm on and the only road noise I could heard was from the occasional HD motorcycle echoing off the valley below (which is obnoxious anywhere you are - city or mountains). This isn't camping folks - you won't get total silence. It was super hot and the air conditioning was really powerful, but I chose to keep the sliding glass door open for some fresh air. I have only three complaints: 1) the seal on the screen door was falling off so about a half a dozen bugs came into the room and decided to make themselves comfortable on my pillows under the wall light, 2) the shower stall was so rusted (but covered with paint) that I felt I might fall through the floor of it, and 3) people had dropped or thrown their garbage off their balconies onto the hillside (how often does this get cleaned up?). Otherwise, the bed was comfortable and the scones were delicious. I would consider staying here again if I couldn't find another B&B in Idyllwild and I would probably recommend to others - especially if they plan on hiking (because it's really close to the Deer Springs trail head).
John, the host, makes you feel welcome from the moment you arrive. The accommodations were excellent, but the special touches John adds to the stay, along with the beautifully served and delicious breakfasts makes this a place to be remembered.
My wife and I stayed here 2 nights and we hated to leave. John is such a great host and he immediately makes you feel like you're at home. I was a quality control manager before I retired and I still can't stop scrutinizing everything. The Rainbow Inn impressed me in every way. It is clean, beautifully decorated, and has the perfect country feel. I couldn't get over John's attention to detail. From a huge selection of DVD's, all sorts of games, books about the surrounding wildlife and history of the town, a wine opener in the room, and even 3 pairs of reading glasses in the main room, just in case you forgot yours. I could go on and on but I didn't even mention what a great breakfast he does. When we stayed it was cream cheese stuffed French toast with very lean bacon one morning, and a beautiful egg soufflé with just a hint of rosemary accompanied by turkey sausage the next (worth the price of admission alone!) The Inn is within walking distance to the town and shops. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.
