The Enchanted Gardens at "A Beautiful Day" is a pleasant, private unique alternative to hotels. Located in Keaau less than an hours drive to the volcano, Mauna Kea summit, waterfalls, beaches, lava flow and much more! This is an amazingly exciting time to visit the East side of Hawaii Island. Located in an actual rainforest, this upstairs suite is a private, stand-alone unit on a beautifully landscaped, shared 3-acre property. Enjoy our lovely gardens, tropical exotic plants, trees and flowers. King sized bed, shower/bath combination and kitchenette with toaster, microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker, (but no stove.) Free wifi. Escape from city life and appreciate country living. Friendly farm animals and the simple joys of authentic living. All fruits and flowers in the unit are from our gardens. We provide a complimentary continental Hawaiian self-catered breakfast, including coffee, tea, hot chocolate, baked goods, granola, cereal and yogurt. We restock your supply every three days. Please note that we are not a fancy upscale hotel. For your own safety and convenience, you definitely need to arrive during daylight hours (after 3 p.m.) It gets dark in the fall and winter before 5, and summer around 6, and there are no street lights because of the telescopes on Mauna Kea Summit. Your accommodation is up the red stairs, just go to room 1. There is also convenient parking around the building next to the green stairs, which is the front entrance to your room.

Sherri was a very sweet and cheerful host. The rented living space was large, with many windows overlooking the lush green property. All the animals were friendly; especially an adorable donkey named Mocho Late! The property is secluded and we really felt like we were getting away and on an adventure. Things to keep in mind, this is in a jungle area so there are bugs, geckos, and frogs croaking if that bothers you. This isn't really anything against the rental, it just comes with the area. The froggies were very loud at night, but Sherri thoughtfully left a supply of ear plugs for her guests if they chose to use. There is no AC, but the weather was cool in the evenings and the fans worked just fine. Would highly recommend staying here if you're on a budget like us but still want to have a nice place to stay. Thanks Sherri!

We just loved this place! So many special touches, and we finally were able to relax after a hectic several weeks touring all the other islands. We wish we had come here first, and stayed longer. All the animals were so sweet and my gosh, the beautiful flowers and orchids were everywhere! We were so happy, and hope to be back next spring!

This was one of the most beautiful settings I have ever visited in my life. My wife and I were astonished at the magnificent trees, most of them growing fruit, most of which was available to us to eat. It was a gentle and peaceful feeling to be among friendly farm animals, seeing them out and about, and knowing they helped create the beautiful gardens which we photographed during our trip. I loved meeting the goat, also known as the "landscaping gourmet" and his best friend the donkey. We were very impressed with how comfortable the accommodation was, with all the nice and special touches. We especially liked the amount of privacy we had with our own suite: no adjoining walls. It was wonderful. We would recommend this place to anyone who loved nature and beauty.

This place was much more than what we expected for this price. We loved being serenaded at night by the rainforest symphony, and waking in the morning to the sounds of the country. It was truly refreshing, and close to all of the places we wanted to visit. Nice restaurants nearby. Nice setting. We enjoyed the "self-catered" breakfast provided to us with all the fresh fruits, coffee, tea and other goodies. It was nice to be at our own pace and have so much privacy. Loved being so close to nature! A magical and wonderful place to stay.

This place exceeded our expectations. We are so used to noisey places, lots of people everywhere and ordinary-ness. This was truly a breath of fresh air. We loved the night time symphony! We also loved the wide selection of "self-catering" goodies for our breakfast, so we could get up as early or as late as we wished and prepare what we wanted at our leisure. This place had a very special, magical feel, and it was wonderful. We always took our time, and didn't rush. This was a great location for us to explore most of East Hawaii, as we were just a short drive to so many of the incredible places we wanted to visit. We did not expect it to be this nice for this price, but we were so very happy, and truly enjoyed the plants and animals on this property. So beautiful and so amazing and so unique. Very inspoirational, and we had all the privacy we wanted. Very nice.

This was more than we expected, especially for the price. The grounds were absolutely beautiful, our bed was comfortable and cozy and the breakfast was delicious. We loved all the fresh exotic fruits, most grown on the property. We awoke to the sound of a happy little donkey and saw him grazing just below our window with his goat friend! We were glad we brought our computer and had a Netflix account, we watched some nice movies on the free wifi! The house wasn't fancy or modern, but clean, nicely decorated and quite lovely. Lots of books and maps too. We expecially loved all the flowers in bloom, and recommend this place for travellers who love nature and the outdoors. We saw so many stars, and were lulled to sleep by the musical sounds of the magical rainforest. We woke up feeling refreshed and grounded after a long plane ride. We will plan to stay longer on our next visit.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time here! We found the grounds to be exceptionally beautiful, and we enjoyed the view from our room. Everything had a special artistic touch, created by the innkeeper. We spent most of our time enjoying the nearby destinations, our favorite being the nearby rugged coastline and warm geothermal pools. We did lots of hiking and exploring and felt comfortable and happy at the end of our days. We will be back!

We are located about halfway between Hilo and Pahoa. Located in a rural community known as "Orchidland Estates" on a three acre property. We are 6 minutes from the highway, but when you arrive, you will feel as if you are in a whole otherl world, miles away from reality! Our accommodations are located at least 300 feet from the road, so you will seldom hear traffic or city sounds...just the sights and sound of nature. The night time sky is absolutely magnificent! To get here, take highway 130 to Pohaku Place (located between Pohaku Drive and Pohaku Circle. Turn right on Pohaku PLACE, then left when it ends (at 35th). Make the first right at Laniuma and go up to 39th. Turn right, we are the fourth property on the left. 16-1436. When I was five I lived on a farm and learned from a woman named Granny that food was grown! It was so amazing, because until then, I thought everything just came from the grocery store. I watched Granny till and plant in the earth. I decided then and there that I would grow my own food when I grew up, and then add my own personal twist. I so love caring for my land and my animals, and sharing with people from around the world!
