Wonderful place to stay

4.6 on May 12, 2018

We stayed in this lovely Bed&Breakfast as a family and loved it. We had a spacious and well equipped room. Breakfast was delicious every morning. The Inn was our homebase to explore the whole island. Dave and Miriam are wonderful hosts. They do everything to make their guests have a special, unforgettable, beautiful stay. Thank you!

Innkeeper Response
Your welcome. We love serving our guests! Aloha

Home in the Rainforest

5 on May 03, 2018

We had a lovely stay. The owners and staff could not have been more welcoming. As new owners, they are trying to make improvements to the inn and go out of their way to make you comfortable and to seek feedback. This felt like home while we explored the Kailua-Kona side of the island. It was a luxury eating the amazing breakfasts on the lovely covered lanai as we watched the chickens and exotic birds, and chatted with other guests about their Big Island adventures. Bring bug spray for the nighttime mosquitos and earplugs for the Coqui frogs' nighttime singing and the rooster's morning crow. While it feels like a haven, don't forget that you are still in the rainforest.

Innkeeper Response
We are so happy that you had such a great time here. We do get the best guests! And if you forget you earplugs, we have plenty here on hand if you need them.

A Piece of Kona Paradise

5 on May 01, 2018

Owners, Dave and Miriam and their staff make a special point to know you by name and make sure all of your needs for your stay are so special. The breakfast is wonderful; everything is fresh and displayed so nicely and sitting outside having breakfast confirms you are on vacation. For sure we would stay there again.

Innkeeper Response
We're so glad you loved the outdoor breakfast! Kona weather is pretty tough to beat.

Delightful Stay

4.8 on March 06, 2018

We were very impressed by the spaciousness and comfort of the Banyan Cottage. The country inn is up the "hill" from Kona which we fully appreciated. The hosts were pleasant and accommodating. All the guests loved the setting and the variety of birds that came to the feeder. The rooster liked to crow not just at sunrise but we all liked the "out in the country" feel. We highly recommend to any traveler who prefers a lovingly restored inn.

Innkeeper Response
We're so glad you loved the Banyan Cottage, the grounds and the birds! It was our pleasure to serve you.

Serenity

September 2017 Our week's stay at Hale Maluhia Country Inn was over all too soon. We loved the beauty and serenity of "The House of Peace" as it is aptly named. Miriam and Dave are very warm and welcoming Hosts. Miriam prepares wonderful breakfasts of fresh fruits, pastries, home baked breads and all the fixings to make omelettes and waffles. Truly, this is a special place to stay!..Rosemary and Keith Gray

Innkeeper Response
We truly enjoyed serving you. Thank you!

Beautiful place to stay for our 2 week 15 year Anniversary! Central to everything Kona, the breakfast buffet every day was fantastic! The new hosts were very gracious .... we started out as guests and ended up family :)....looking forward to our next visit...we won't stay anywhere else....Paul and Debbie from Waukesha, Wisconsin.

House of Peace

Miriam and I absolutely love this place. The beauty of the property and the promise of an omelette bar got me here, but Ken and his staff completely endeared me. Truly it is a House of Peace. Dave Cariveau

Twice Charmed

5 on July 30, 2015

Last week was my second stay at Hale Maluhia. My daughter and I had a great stay in 2008, that definitely recommended me to return. And this time was equally great. I will certainly return on my next vista too. The location on the mountain slope gets one a bit out of the hustle and bustle of Kona, yet close enough that one can zip into town within 10 min. Also, very easy access to all the sights and experiences of the Kona coast. The breakfast layout is the most professionally hosted and extensive of any B&B I stayed at. They emphasize fresh picked produce, fresh baked breads and eggs. On the dining porch there are great views of the mountain environment, birds all about. The rooms were impeccable. I would recommend, for the AM or dusk walkers, the level stretch of road about 1/2 down on Hualalai Rd, where it meets Hienaloli Rd; (walk along Hienaloli north; park at intersection). It's a gentle stroll, with jungly views.
