Truly amazing

5 on June 22, 2017

This place is absolutely stunning. Super private and had everything you would want on a romantic getaway. Although in the middle of the jungle, we were surprised that there was so few bugs. Very clean and the furnishings were super nice. If we ever visit the Big Island again, we will definitely try to stay here again.

Unique jungle cottage

4.2 on February 24, 2017

This is a very unique place to stay on vacation. The best parts were the hot tub surrounded by a lush jungle, the outdoor shower, and the proximity to the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The downsides are that it is quite small and cramped, lighting is dim and there isn't much natural sunlight in the cabin, and the kitchen isn't high end. When considering those downsides the value isn't great but the uniqueness of a jungle cabin was worth it! The owners take great care in their property and their guests.

Magical Stay

My husband and I spent 3 amazing days at the cottage. It is clear the owners take great pride in the grounds and have an eye for detail. From a thoughtful welcome note and gift to homemade banana bread, your arrival is special. The location is private with the outdoor shower and hottub surrounded by amazing lush vegetation. A short 5 minute drive to the volcanoes made this a perfect vacation spot. We only wish we had more time to spend at this amazing cottage and would recommend it to anyone wanting to visit this part of the island!

just book it if you are looking for a special place in the jungle

I came back after 8 years and it is still one of the best places I stayed - and I travel more then 50 countries in the world. I would mention it together with boroka downs in down under and las cumbres in Uruguay. And for the onsite dining you only get 5 stars if you are happy with your own cooking expperience- there is a full equipted kitchen for self cooking.

The Great Get-a-way!

4.6 on December 06, 2016

This is the ideal spot for a romantic get-a-way. It was cool weather, remote isolation among the Ohia trees, yet with every convenience you may ever wish for. The unit was well stocked beyond our expectations. It also came with daily continental breakfast and two bikes to boot. The outdoor jacuzzi was just perfect after a long hike and the indoor/outdoor fire places were all too welcoming. Although it was missing an outdoor grill the kitchen was especially well stocked for full use. The only caveats on this place is that the indoor space does run tightly efficient, so for those who are tall or require more space, be ready for a few knocks. In all, it is a place we'd definitely return to.

Best Vacation Ever

5 on December 03, 2016

The photos are great but you just can't relay the sounds, peace, serenity, solitude and calming sense that is actually experienced here. That was our experience. Every night, we enjoyed the private outdoor shower and hot tub. Hearing the rain gently tap as we soaked and the lighting was perfect. A couple nights under the Super Moon...I can't describe it, you just have to be there...as a couple, I definitely recommend this as a couple. This is not the place we want to bring our friends or kids, no, no, this is just for us! Inside the cottage, a note and little gifts like homemade banana bread and muffins. A stocked kitchen, coolers, rain gear, a backpack, towel warmers, spa robes (used daily), tons of shampoo/conditioner, conveniently placed outlets, 4 wine bottle openers, lol. Many more amenities were provided but check before going to the grocery store; there was more stocked than I expected. Off of the property, we explored daily. Every night, we stopped to look at the Kilauea crater on our way "home" because the the boiling lava level changed every time and it glowed (bring the binoculars from the cottage). The cottage provides helpful information about things to do and where to eat so I will only mention what wasn't in there. The Tuk Tuk Thai food truck - delicious and authentic, only a few minutes away from the cottage. Uncles Awa Bar and Farmers Market on Wednesday from 5-10pm - a variety of ethnic foods cooked onsite, local art and food items, live music. That was the best food we ate all week. We biked 4 miles to see the lava enter the ocean and biked against strong wind 4 miles back. We worked off the calories that we later put on at Uncles. Our favorite trip was to Waipi'o Valley with Ride the Rim - an atv tour that incorporates Hawaiian culture and history. There's more to say, but this will do for now. We can't wait to go back and call the Volcano Mist Cottage "home" again :) Mahalo for this exquisite experience.

Wahi Malie (Place of calmness)

5 on November 13, 2016

Mahalo for a wonderful stay at your Wahi Malie (place of calmness). We enjoyed hiking and other activities during the day and then retreated to the Volcano Mist Cottage in the evenings. We loved the secluded outdoor hot tub. We got takeout food from Thai Thai close by in Volcano Village and enjoyed it on the covered lanai while we listened to the peaceful sounds of the songbirds in the rain forest and warmed up with the outdoor fireplace. Volcano Mist Cottage is tucked away in complete seclusion. What a great way to renew, refresh, and "recharge." Highly recommended! Stayed October 2016, traveled as a couple

Everything was Perfect. Would stay again. I didn't want to leave. Very Peaceful. Very" Healing""

5 on November 02, 2016

Everything was perfect in every way. Everything was spot on like the pictures show. Loved the outdoor shower (inside one too). Hot tub was nice and extremely relaxing. This place exudes peace. The lanai has to be one of the best on any of the islands. So peaceful to have fire place on, relaxing or eating dinner out on the lanai whilst the rain comes and goes. Very well designed. The outdoor lanai might as well be thought of as a living room. So nice to hear birds and the rain. Very close to Volcano National park and visiting the volcano at dark (we would go early morning) and then treat ourselves to a wonderful breakfast at the Volcano House right on the rim of the volcano. Just wonderful would give 6 stars!

A Lovely Cottage

5 on October 24, 2016

Volcano Mist Cottage is a wonderful mountain hideaway that we would highly recommend for anyone looking for easy access to all the magnificent sights in the Volcano area and with close proximity to the village and the services offered yet, still peacefully situated in a beautiful forest sanctuary.

Peaceful, zen-like, and one of a kind.

Sitting in the rainforest just outside the national park is THE BEST single B&B. A one bedroom cottage with large overhangs which enable us to sit outside and listen to the rain and see the breathtaking flowers and foliage. The hosts thought of everything we needed for our stay: umbrellas, flashlights for walking at night at the volcano, and even bikes if wanted. The only and I mean only drawback is the lack of area dining options. If you wish to cook, their kitchen is fully equipped. It has both an indoor and outdoor shower with a beautiful hot tub area. I would go back in a heartbeat.
