Welcome was very informative and inviting in every respect. Room very clean and grounds were beautiful. Breakfast was delicious to say the least. Chris, Kathie and other Staff were very attentive at all times. Highly recommend the Inn at Old Virginia.
When I and my husband pulled into the drive, we noticed a manicured lawn and well kept Inn. Upon entering the Stonewall Jackson Inn, Wayne, the owner, greeted us with genuine enthusiasm. He was sincerely interested in our comfort. He gave us a tour of the Inn and informed us to alert him if we needed anything at all. We had booked the Sherman Room, and it was absolutely beautiful. Wayne made us aware of the locality of the Inn and nearby restaurants and other attractions. The next morning was indeed a "breakfast to remember". Aurilla and Alex are astonishing chefs! This will indeed be a place that we will visit again!
This was a wonderful inn. Exceptionally clean, nicely furnished, all amenities, and extraordinarily wonderful hosts. Greg and I had a terrific stay. The location was convenient to tourist sights, nice restaurants. Also quiet location away from road traffic.
The Inn at Old Virginia is a wonderful place to stay only minutes off I-85 and very close to Staunton, VA. It is very peaceful and in a beautiful/peacefull setting. Cannot wait to go back to the area and stay again. We had a room in the barn which was perfect..
We wanted to find a bed and breakfast close to Shenandoah and the backyard of this property leads right into the park! The High Laurel Inn is definitely a hidden gem, tucked away in the trees, and provides a great escape from the city. Jim and Helen keep the rooms looking beautiful and each room has a private patio with chairs to sit outside. They make breakfast themselves and it was outstanding: a fruit cup with coffee and orange juice followed by pecan French toast and sausage! We couldn't have asked for a better stay in a more lovely room--which truly felt like a private house/cabin it was so large! The in-room gas fireplace was a great perk, as well. We will definitely be coming back!
We had a beautiful weekend at the Inn at Old Virginia. The rooms was well laid out with plenty of space. We stayed in the Barn side. The service and breakfast was excellent. Chris was very helpful and made our stay a pleasure
This was ours second time staying at The Inn at Old Virginia. We were not disappointed. The rooms were comfortable, attention to detail regarding our comfort was evident, and breakfast the next morning was stellar. And the room rates were comparable or less than at local hotels. We couldn't be more pleased.
We had a great time at this B&B. Chris, the general manager, was very attentive to our needs and gave several good recommendations for nearby restaurants. The room was beautiful and spacious, and breakfast every morning was delicious. We'll be back!
My husband and I recently stayed at the Inn at Old Virginia. The room was very clean, the staff very accommodating and friendly. They even thought of coffee and tea. The Inn is very tastefully decorated and the breakfast was delicious, served in a lovely room on china. We'll definitely be back!
We were driving back from a visit with our daughter at UVA and decided to take a look at the B&B in the Staunton area. When I called Eve was more than accommodating and booked a room for that evening. The room was charming and the breakfast in the sunroom was delightful! We look forward to another stay when we are in the area.
We arrived late because of traffic. Dennis met us with a smile and walked us up lots of stairs to the Bishop's Retreat. The three rooms on the top floor were cozy and warmly decorated. Janice prepared us wonderfully delicious breakfasts each morning, and the picnic basket we had ordered contained all sorts of yummy things. We had a great laid back weekend, using the Inn as a headquarters for exploring the Valley. Our only disappointment was the bathtub - had to cancel that lazy spa time in the tub.
We'd stayed at the Inn at Old Virginia once previously and thoroughly enjoyed it. This time was no exception. Chris was a wonderful host, the buildings and grounds are top notch, and breakfast was delicious. We highly recommend this B&B.
Our third stay at The Inn at Old Va. The rooms are beautifully and thoughtfully decorated. The staff is friendly and accommodating and the breakfast and breakfast room are a feast for the senses! Can't wait to return.
Very nice, historic site with great, knowledgable inn keepers. The room and ground were beautiful, nice jacuzzi tub (for one) in the private bathroom. Breakfast was delicious, homemade French toast and local bacon. French toast was served with a blueberry sauce that the keepers prepared, using local blueberries, syrup was also available. Went in the summer, but immedietly began planning a return trip in the fall.
this is the second time this summer we've stayed at high laurel, this time with grad school friends. it was just like always--clean, comfortable, beautiful and delicious breakfast. and a 60 degree morning on the side of the mountain is exhilarating. this place is a few miles across the valley east of I-81, but the few miles are thru beautiful farm country and then up thru the woods to the inn. try it and you will love it.
My wife and I stayed for a single night as our introduction to staying at a B&B for travel/pleasure and this was the perfect place to do it. The home itself is beautiful and full of history. Our room was huge, well kept and also full of interesting tidbits of history regarding the home. Omar and Hannah were wonderful hosts/innkeepers and prepared an excellent breakfast for us with the tastiest, fluffiest French Toast I've had. The other guests were wonderful to meet and it made the experience even more memorable. You can't go wrong with this place and it's priced perfectly.
We went there for our anniversary weekend and we had a great time. The innkeepers were very friendly and accommodating and the room was comfortable and spacious. The breakfast was simply amazing! Beautiful presentation, tasty and filling. There are wineries nearby and activities such as canoeing and kayaking if you're into that. Overall, I would highly recommend the inn to anyone who wants to escape from the city for a weekend and have a relaxing time.
The Inn at Old Virginia is a beautiful, quaint B&B. The accommodations are tasteful, comfortable, and very clean. The breakfast served in the sunroom was delicious. The owners were very attentive and kind. We really appreciate the fact that we were able to bring our dog with us as well. We will definitely be returning in the future.
Such a wonderful, rustic and cozy "gem" in a picturesque setting! My husband and I only needed a one night stay to break up our travel on our way back to PA from North Carolina. We looked online and saw that Silver Lake B&B was the "Inn of the Month" and the photos were just so welcoming. We stayed in the Parlor Room on the first floor. It was very spacious. The bed was comfortable. The shower was wonderful, complete with shampoo and conditioner. There was a door that opened up from the bedroom to a fabulous wrap around porch. The property is surrounded by cornfields and farmland. You could even see a few cows grazing right next door. It was so peaceful to sit outside and enjoy the evening with a glass of wine. The next morning, Ryan made a delicious breakfast of fresh fruit and a vegetable omelet. He sat and talked with us about the history of this Inn and the surrounding area. Such a nice young man. We would definitely recommend this lovely B &B to anyone travelling through the Shenandoah Valley.
