Alling House Bed and Breakfast

215 E. French Ave. , Orange City, FL 32763 USA (Show map)

About

Enter the house that was the home of E.B. Alling, a well-known Orange City mayor, for over 40 years and go back in time to the formative years of Orange City. Learn how Orange City was founded during the expansion of modern civilization into Florida along a prominent transportation route provided by the St. John's River. Hospitality being her strength, Nan's warmth and love will immediately make you feel like a close relative who has come home. You won't want to leave. We look forward to providing the opportunity and environment that will allow you to accomplish everything you're looking for from your vacation.

weekend getaway at a bed and breakfast

3.8 on January 20, 2017

Great place to stay when in the area! The grounds are well taken care of and the cottages are beautiful..Very close to the blue spring park, cassadega and historic downtown! The only downfall was wouldn't you expect breakfast when staying at a bed and breakfast with the word breakfast in the title of your house? This place charges you extra when staying in the cottages which are more money than in the house rooms which is included. I have never seen that anywhere. Just add the extra 7$ into the price of the cottages and charge more to rent.

Innkeeper Response
This guest did not mention that their cottage had a full kitchen where continental breakfast items were provided and they could cook their own hot breakfast if they wished. The rooms in the main house accommodate 2 and do not have kitchens. Therefore, we do provide a full breakfast for those staying in the main house. Cottages can accommodate anywhere from 2 to 7 people and we can not afford to provide a free hot breakfast for that many. People should check the policies before reserving and read the confirmation email that they get in return.

Alling House

Everything was as advertised. Gerald was very professional and friendly. He respected our privacy. The grounds were outstanding. The common grounds were very quiet and relaxing. My granddaughter loved the tire swing. We had breakfast delivered to our cottage and it arrived right on time. Everything was hot and fresh. My wife and I and granddaughter all enjoyed a home cooked fresh breakfast for a third of the price of a restaurant (which would have not come close to the quality). At night we sat out in the commons area and I remarked how nice the stars looked. Then I realized we were sitting under the trees and that the "stars" were faint lights strung in the tops of the trees. What a nice touch. Very realistic. We stayed in the homestead cottage for privacy, but a look inside the house indicated a very charming atmosphere. It reminded us of our first bed and breakfast experiences in Nova Scotia. Don't be fooled by the location. Very peaceful and quiet right in the middle of town. On the final day we went to Blue Springs and saw lots of manatee. Some said we hit it at the perfect time of the year. Very nice park, make sure you visit. Less than 5 miles form the Alling House. We went for a wedding and turned it into a mini vacation. I highly recommend you trying it out. A nice break from the hotel chains and resorts. If you have small children, be respectful of others and the owners, choose one of the five cottages over the main house. The price was very reasonable. Great value

We are happy to find this hotel and family who owners of this amazing house... We had a great time in authentic theme interior and kingly breakfast )))) We tell about this place to all our friends... Thank you very much!!!!!

Beautiful Cottages

Stayed in the Victorian cottage, it was perfect! The property is beautiful and very well cared for. The courtyard outside of the cottages is wonderful. Will definitely be returning and checking out some of the other cottages!

The top of the Heap!!

There are not enough words to explain the Joy and Happiness that staying at the Alling House brings to me. This was my Fifth stay and I feel like I was heading home to visit family in Gerald and Nan Hill! We have visited many Bed and Breakfast establishments and while they have been nice experiences, NONE have left us with the feelings of Satisfaction and Contentment that The Alling House experience does. The Homey feel , the Comfort , and the attention to detail are amazing yet still do not come come close to the Excitement we get to sit and have breakfast and fellowship with Gerald and Nan and the other interesting guests we meet there.

Perfect hosts, lovely house, perfect for visiting Blue Spring State Park

Gerald and Nan are the perfect hosts - Gerald welcomed us when we arrived and told us about the house and it's history, and Nan provided us with a beautiful spread for breakfast - all specific to dietary requirements. If you had forgotten to pack anything, I guarantee that it would be provided for you here. We had a room in the house, where Gerald and Nan still live, but there are also cottages on site which provide accommodation for families.

A perfect second honeymoon

Thank you Nan and Gerald for the perfect weekend. We rented the Victorian cottage to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary. We found chocolate covered strawberries and sparkling cider on the dining table when we got there ;-) Nan just have the gift of making you feel special. The atmosphere is so peaceful on the property with all the trees and beautiful garden . Thank you very much for a GREAT weekend !! WE WILL be back !

Very special place! Beautiful grounds.

Fantastic Stay - Great Value

A beautiful home with warm, friendly hosts. We were well cared for, and the room was very private as we never heard other guests while upstairs. My wife and I stayed in the main home but at our request Gerald took the time to show us several of the cottages. They are very spacious and wonderful as well...and they all surround a fabulous garden area with fire pits, benches, gazebos, etc. Will make a great place to travel with other couples and have a common area to wind down each evening.

just as nice as advertised

We had the Homestead cottage. It was as nice as the pictures of it. The owners were very friendly, but gave you your privacy. Would stay again if in that area.
