We had a great experience at this beautiful Bed and Breakfast. Our first night was spent in the Garden Room which we soon realized was a tight fit for my husband who is 6ft. 5in. So we requested an upgrade to the Caribbean Room which was more spacious and had a beautiful wrap around porch. Everyone was very accommodating and the food was delicious. We will definitely visit again.

The Mermaid and Alligator was absolutely beautiful! The home's decor and artwork was a joy to behold. My wife and I stayed in the Garden Room and enjoyed waking up in the morning and looking out onto the lush and well-maintained tropical garden. The room was a bit smaller than I expected, but quite adequate for our use. Have to remember, this house was built in 1904 and individual rooms tended to be on the smaller side. The room looks just like the photos on the B&B's website, as dos the house and gardens. As beautiful as it was, we did not spend that much time in the room. When we returned from a day of touring, we spent our time in the garden. Our go-to spot was a couple of lounge chairs that were by a fountain in the rear part of the garden. Listening to the trickle of the fountain and downing a glass or two of cool water, soda or lemonade was so very relaxing. Geri, Rebecca and Victor were amazing. They each provided excellent tips on places to go and things to do. They know their stuff. We were never disappointed. I also need to give a tip of the hat to the housekeeping staff. They keep the entire place spotless. The afternoon lemonade break and later wine break were well received after a hot day on the town. We thought the breakfasts provided an excellent way to begin the day. Each day, they prepared something different. The breakfasts were simple affairs which is what my wife and I enjoy. While in the old town area, it is a bit of a walk to the Mallory Square area (about a mile) and can be tiring on a hot day. You might want to opt for a bicycle. Having said that, if I ever go to Key West again, which I hope I do, I'll definitely make reservations here.

Where to EVEN begin! I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived at the Mermaid & Aligator. I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. Well let me tell y'all something, I was in paradise!! The house was just up my alley and Geri was EXCEPTIONAL! From a kayaking to lunch on Sunset Keys, she handled it all. The 3 women who do the cooking and cleaning, and I'm sorry I don't recall their names, they were fabulous. Victor and Rebecca were both delightful. Breakfast every morning was wonderful and blissful sitting outside amongst the other guests. CAYA, the wonderful dog that comes to the house daily, was always a treat to see. Oh I could go on and on about how wonderful my stay there was. I highly recommend staying there.

My husband and I stayed in the Key Lime Cottage for 3 evenings and could not have been happier. It was warm, inviting and a lovely way to end our vacation. Breakfast was really nice and the coffee quite good. We were within walking distance of all old town Key West has to offer, yet our evenings were quiet in the Cottage. Book quickly as they fill up fast. We were lucky to get the Cottage as all other rooms were booked and it turned out to be the best match for us!

This was our first time at the Mermaid & Alligator. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and caring. Our room was spotless and in fact the whole place is spotless. The gardens are beautiful and relaxing. The breakfasts are first rate - no need to go elsewhere. In fact we found ourselves talking about what the next day's breakfast was going to be!! Geri and her staff will make any reservations you may want during your stay and will recommend restaurants and sights based upon their experiences. Many of the guests are "repeaters" which tells you something about the place. Yeah - we will be repeaters next year as we have already reserved our room !!

We have been staying at B&B's across the US , Europe and New Zealand since the early 1980's. Our recent stay at the Mermaid and Alligator in old town Key West was one of our exceptional stays. . It was our first time there and has been on " our list". " As we had driven from the western mts of Colorado,, we had our own car which we parked at the Inn when we arrived and never had to drive anywhere the entire 4 day stay. The Inn is located close enough to Downtown as well as the docks , good restaurants, museums etc to,walk everywhere. However, once inside the magic serene, beautiful, gardens, and well appointed gracious house you are instantly transformed into,a lovely retreat of peace and comfort.Geri and her staff were very attentive and the breakfasts were amply yet nicely presented in the garden each morning . We stayed in the SunRoom upstairs .while not spacious , the room was very pretty and had a private sundeck, and each morning we awoke to looking at a full wall of windows into the trees and gardens below . If you are a purist of B&B's I highly recommend the Mermaid and the Alligator.
