My Oasis

Where to EVEN begin! I wasn't sure what to expect when I arrived at the Mermaid & Aligator. I had never stayed in a bed and breakfast before. Well let me tell y'all something, I was in paradise!! The house was just up my alley and Geri was EXCEPTIONAL! From a kayaking to lunch on Sunset Keys, she handled it all. The 3 women who do the cooking and cleaning, and I'm sorry I don't recall their names, they were fabulous. Victor and Rebecca were both delightful. Breakfast every morning was wonderful and blissful sitting outside amongst the other guests. CAYA, the wonderful dog that comes to the house daily, was always a treat to see. Oh I could go on and on about how wonderful my stay there was. I highly recommend staying there.

Restful and relaxing and Guest House

My husband and I stayed in the Key Lime Cottage for 3 evenings and could not have been happier. It was warm, inviting and a lovely way to end our vacation. Breakfast was really nice and the coffee quite good. We were within walking distance of all old town Key West has to offer, yet our evenings were quiet in the Cottage. Book quickly as they fill up fast. We were lucky to get the Cottage as all other rooms were booked and it turned out to be the best match for us!

Best Place to Stay in Key West

This was our first time at the Mermaid & Alligator. My husband and I enjoyed ourselves so much. Everyone is friendly, helpful, and caring. Our room was spotless and in fact the whole place is spotless. The gardens are beautiful and relaxing. The breakfasts are first rate - no need to go elsewhere. In fact we found ourselves talking about what the next day's breakfast was going to be!! Geri and her staff will make any reservations you may want during your stay and will recommend restaurants and sights based upon their experiences. Many of the guests are "repeaters" which tells you something about the place. Yeah - we will be repeaters next year as we have already reserved our room !!

Wonderful Bed and Breakfast, we enjoyed our stay so much

A perfect B&B

5 on February 11, 2017

We have been staying at B&B's across the US , Europe and New Zealand since the early 1980's. Our recent stay at the Mermaid and Alligator in old town Key West was one of our exceptional stays. . It was our first time there and has been on " our list". " As we had driven from the western mts of Colorado,, we had our own car which we parked at the Inn when we arrived and never had to drive anywhere the entire 4 day stay. The Inn is located close enough to Downtown as well as the docks , good restaurants, museums etc to,walk everywhere. However, once inside the magic serene, beautiful, gardens, and well appointed gracious house you are instantly transformed into,a lovely retreat of peace and comfort.Geri and her staff were very attentive and the breakfasts were amply yet nicely presented in the garden each morning . We stayed in the SunRoom upstairs .while not spacious , the room was very pretty and had a private sundeck, and each morning we awoke to looking at a full wall of windows into the trees and gardens below . If you are a purist of B&B's I highly recommend the Mermaid and the Alligator.

The house gives you that Key West vibe. Super friendly and helpful staff and the rooms are very comfortable. Located within walking or biking distance from everything. We will make the Mermaid & Alligator our home in Key West!

A wonderful B&B

We stayed here based upon some reviews and pictures we saw on this website. This was the first time using this site. We originally planned to stay just 1 night but fell in love with The Mermaid and felt so comfortable there that we decided to stay an extra night. Luckily they were able to accommodate us though we had to change rooms. No problem, the second one was even nicer than the first. And the first room on the 2nd floor of the house was beautiful. Location is perfect. Close to Duval street but far enough away that it was very quiet. Rooms were done in typical and tasteful tropical style. Plush towels and bathrobes were provided. Our delicious hot breakfast was served in this beautifully landscaped garden every morning. Wine and snacks were available in the late afternoon. Staff made you feel warm and welcomed. They were also very helpful in making arrangements for sightseeing and restaurants. We loved this place and can't wait to come back!

try something new & exciting along w/ Hemingway:"Courage is grace under pressure."

Outside of the Mermaid & Alligator being perfectly picked-up bright & beautiful, as all All staff are too, the location made it a delightful walk Everywhere. I hated missing breakfast but they made a fisher-person out of me! Once I walked to the boat launch, I met Captain Todd, whom Mermaid & Alligator scheduled Just the evening before--I even knew the professors Cap. Todd knew here at UT! How perfect is that! The marlin fish did not quite make it in yet, wish I could be there when they arrive....and repeat the whole trip; 3 nights not enough! ~never a bad meal Anywhere~ (just ask Dean &/or Paul for suggestions)

Our top benchmark for B&B's
