The Florida House Inn is located in the very heart of Fernandina Beach and is the oldest surviving hotel in the state of Florida. She serves as the matriarch of the historic district of Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island. We are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The inn has 17 guest rooms, an English style pub, a parlor room, private breakfast room, seating for 75 in our dining room, large wrap around porches,a beautiful catering venue, and a beautifully landscaped garden and courtyard.

We enjoyed our one night stay in the Bridal Suite for our anniversary. The room was spacious and very clean. The inn is in a great location downtown, walking distance to great restaurants and shopping. It would be nice if the website had more up-to-date information about events going on at the inn: the night we stayed, the mermaid bar was closed for a private event. It wasn't a huge deal to us, but it would have been nice to know. There also seems to be a discrepancy between the website and the inn policy as the website says late checkouts are available for $10 per hour as late as 1pm and the desk clerk told us 12pm was the latest and it was $15 per hour. Again, not a huge deal, but correct information on the website would be helpful.

This room is overtop a bar with live music on the weekends. It shuts down before 11:00 or close to it. I would not book it again for that reason. Breakfast was well done. The bar maid was kind and helpful. Bed rolled in the middle a good piece of plywood in the middle would help.

I was pretty excited to take my wife away for our 14th anniversary and thought this place would be a special place. While we enjoyed the downtown experience of Amelia Island we were less than impressed with the Florida House Inn. The room was OK but we've stayed in a number of great B&B's that didn't cost nearly $200 per night and were better satisfied than with this experience. The room seemed quite dusty as we began to sneeze upon walking in, the bed was quite firm and the Jacuzzi tub took what seemed like eternity to fill enough to enjoy a hot bath. Another disappointment was the breakfast. It seemed that prior reviews lauded the morning spread and we were really looking forward to it only to be met with a very basic quiche, over done sausage and a few other menial things.(Truly we've had a better free "continental" breakfast at a hotel costing $50 per night.) Finally, we were saddened by the lack of warm reception or interaction. From check in to check out we were not greeted even once. While privacy is nice our fondest memories of prior B&B's have been rich and warm conversation with the inn keepers. The location was very nice (Amelia) , however the experience certainly didn't call us to ever return again. We overheard one guest say they come every year and we wondered "Why?".

Everything was great, especially the location...convenient to all. Only problem is pictures make the rooms look much larger than they are, but we didn't spend much, other than overnight, in the room. Beds were very comfortable and clean. Would definitely stay again. Marylou Sweat

I spent one day and night in Fernandina, after coming here for years just for a few hours at a time. I loved my stay! The Florida House Inn was supremely relaxing and comfortable. Location can't be beat. I enjoyed two good restaurants on the same block, had a drink at sunset at the Salty Pelican, and took the Trolley Tour, which I highly recommend. Can't wait to go back!

We enjoyed a three night stay for our anniversary. we enjoyed being able to walk around Historic Amelia Island and come back to the room to cool off and rest and drop off shopping bags. The breakfast wash morning was delicious! My husbands favorite part was that we could hear the live music from the Green Turtle Tavern next door from the porches and our room.

We have stayed at the Florida House Inn once before. It's nice, convenient to downtown and marina. We had the Bridal Suite and it's nice. Very large shower and little vanity in bathroom. No closet but some hooks on bathroom door sufficed. The desk clerk was in a hurry to leave when we arrived at 4:15pm but she had left the an envelope with the key and instructions. We didn't use dining room but the survey forced a response. The last time we stayed there it was fine

My husband and I wanted to take a day/night away. We love Amelia Island, and choosing The Florida Inn was perfect! They let us into our room early (12:45 PM) and from that point it was a relaxing, enjoyable time. Definitely a great place to stay!!
