We spent Valentine’s Day Weekend 2015 at Villa Retreat. Lovely place! Villa Retreat does the “bed and breakfast” concept very well. The bed was unusually comfortable, and the rooms were very well appointed. As it was a “cold” weekend in Cyprus, I very much appreciated the responsive in-room heating. Breakfast, by host Toulla, was superior and plentiful. Villa Retreat is billed as a pet-friendly location; we booked specifically so we could bring our small dog with us. Toulla confirmed in the booking confirmation that there was no issue with bringing a pet, and we had no problems during our stay. Butch, a very well-behaved Golder Retriever, is currently resident at Villa Retreat, and he and our dog got on really well. The common areas are quite large and welcoming, and the grounds very clean and well-maintained. Most helpful tip: You’ll need a car. Villa Retreat is tucked away in a quiet corner near the Germasogia Dam, and the drive to Limassol (for shopping and restaurants and the beach and etc) is 15-20 minutes. You’d be able to walk to restaurants and small shops in the village near Villa Retreat, but options are limited without a car.

We spent an absolutely wonderful time at Villa Retreat! The hosts Toulla and Derek were amazingly lovely and friendly, we felt home the moment we entered our beautiful room. The villa is the perfect place to recover – quiet, embedded in amazing nature, absolutely peaceful. The breakfast was extraordinary good. It was arranged according to individual preferences and served in the beautiful garden. We recommend Villa Retreat by all means! We are lucky to have made the enriching acquaintance of Toulla and Derek!!

The hosts are wonderful and have much to share about living in cyprus. The hosts are architects and have made a dream house, and you can go for beautiful walks with their friendly dog or thrilling drives in the mountains above them.

An absolutely lovely place, secluded on a beautiful hill and yet just 15 minutes drive from the center of Limassol. A perfect place to relax and a great base for exploring Cyprus by car. The place has a lot of character and feels like a genuine family home and the wonderful hosts Toulla and Derek made us feel very welcome. The breakfast was something to look forward to every morning. Would love to return one day.. S&A

My girlfriend and I stayed here at the tail end of a Cyprus holiday this autumn. It made our holiday! The villa is stunning, expertly thought out (the owners are architects) and beautifully finished. Located up the hill from Limassol, it's location is quiet and breezy. Breakfast was an epic affair, consisting of local delicacies fused with more familiar breakfast fare; exceptional. Toulla and Derek are excellent hosts and we can't recommend this beautiful place enough.

we booked 5 nights last Oktober and loved every minute of it. the villa is just like the pictures show, absolutely stunning but also very peaceful: the perfect place to rest. the hoasts , Toulla and Bruce are trully warm people who only want to make your stay complete, serving the most exotic and variable breakfast I have ever seen. the location is very central, so its easy to get around with a car. a holiday to remember

We went to Cyprus in August and decided to stay at Villa Retreat, the place is so beautiful and the breakfast was really amazing (and different every day). Rooms are very comfortable and Toulla and Derek are great hosts. Moreover, Limassol is very central to visit other parts of the island. Villa Retreat is definitely a place to recommend for holidays in Cyprus.

We just needed a quiet weekend to recharge our batteries and to de-stress. What a great choice we made. Idyllic location and great hosts. Who could ask for more? Highly recommended! Thank you to Toulla, Derek and Stavri for looking after us. We look forward to coming back soon.

At the end of May I moved from Manhattan, NYC, to Limassol, Cyprus, for work. I decided to choose for a B&B instead of a hotel for the first period until I found a house. I ended up staying almost a month with Toulla and Derek, until I found my own place. It started with a warm welcome the morning I arrived, although it was 5.45 in the morning, Toulla was there to welcome me at their beautiful place. And it continued with every day a fan-tas-tic lovely breakfast, talks about Cyprus and walks with the dogs. Bruce helped me to find and buy a 4x4 car for a good price, Toulla saved me from choosing the wrong place to live and helped a lot with her expertise as an architect. I loved to hear about Cypriot habits, learned my first Greek words and learned to slow down after working hours. It really felt like home. It was the best start of my stay in Cyprus. It is a very special place which I can recommend to everyone with a good taste!

My family and I, minus my husband, had a wonderful holiday with Derek and Toulla. Our hosts were warm and welcoming, and could not have done more for us. The greatest compliment I can give is to say that I have already booked another holiday at the beautiful villa for my husband and I later this year. The press frightened us with tales of money problems, and I’m pleased to say we encountered no problems at all, and I wondered what all the fuss was about. Toulla also organised the hiring of a car for us, no mean feat as we were 6 people with luggage, and this was a great help to us, as well as being financially beneficial. Villa Retreat offers so much more than the usual Bed and Breakfast , and I have no qualms at all in recommending it to anyone. It is relaxing and peaceful for those who want a quiet stay, with beautiful surroundings, but also offers the pool and tennis court for those who want a more energetic time. On top of all this it is only a 10 minute drive to beautiful clean beaches, with restaurants and bistros. Personally we loved Toulla’s cooking, and preferred to eat with her and Derek. My husband and I may like to venture to other parts of Cyprus, and this will be well placed for travelling around on day trips, though it will be difficult to leave the serenity of Villa Retreat.

If you're looking for something special, then this is the place for you. Derek & Toulla were incredible hosts and were so welcoming to my family. Their villa is more '5 star boutique' than B&B and is the only place I will consider staying in the future. We were originally nervous about visiting Cyprus given the current financial situation but we shouldn't have been - no evidence of anything unusual. If you are thinking of Cyprus as a holiday or mini break destination, I fully recommend it and really believe you won't find a more relaxing or breath-taking place to say than Villa Retreat. Thank you for a wonderful stay Derek & Toulla - we can't wait to visit again.

Piscine, tennis, billard...etc. Propreté irréprochable.Et un petit déjeuner.......extraordinaire. Je recommande les yeux fermés.

We came to Cyprus for a short honeymoon and could have not chosen a better place than the Villa Retreat to stay at. The view was surreal and the only sound heard was the bird's singing- the ideal conditions for relaxation. Our enormous room was tidy, clean and extremely comfortable, and it seemed like every tiny detail was thought and taken care of. The breakfast was rich and delicious and consisted of the best of Cyprus' flavors. Above all, concerting all those wonderful things was the lovely and kind Toulla who did not spare anything so that we would have a marvelous time. We give our warmest recommendation to the Villa Retreat.

Toulla and Derek are the perfect hosts. Their warmth and friendliness can only make you feel as if you've come home. Villa Retreat is a jewel house, ensconsed in a small village, in the Cyprus countryside, a mere 15 minutes drive from Limassol city center. The house is magnificent and the bedroom my boyfriend and I were lucky enough to stay in was beautiful (we got the honeymoon suite :-)) Our bedroom was seperated from the main house and we felt free to go as we pleased without disturbing our hosts who, I should add, were always available for a chat or for pointing us in the right direction. Their tips of places to see and restaurants to go to turned out to be exactly what we were looking for. The breakfasts home cooked by Toulla were amazing: continental, british, cold, cooked, basically anything you could think off was available. But my best breakfast memory remains the fresh orange juice and the pancakes! We stayed with Toulla and Derek for 3 nights and deeply regretted leaving... Hopefully, we'll be back one day soon. I should finish by saying that I have never in my life written a review for a B&B or a hotel. Never cared enough I guess. Or "never found the time"... But our stay at Villa Retreat was such that I could write pages of compliments...! If you ever have the chance to go to Cyprus, don't hesitate for a second: book a few nights at Villa Retreat and go meet Toulla & Derek. You won't regret it! Mélanie B.

We stayed with Toulla for 6 nights in September. Toulla was so kind to be up at 3 AM to welcome us at her home. The room was beautiful and just perfect : comfortable bed, great shower, a lot of closet space. AC was available, but since it is so quiet there, we just left the window open at night. There is also a fan available, a hairdryer, plenty of fresh towels and an extra blanket. The next morning we saw the house is even more beautiful than we thought. Every morning, I sat on the lounge decking, enjoying the view over the valley, the quiet surroundings and the morning sun on my face, the perfect way to start the day. The garden is very pretty, there are several levels, there’s a pond with fishes and other water elements. There’s an outside bar at the breakfast area. All with a stunning view on the hills. The couryard pool is perfect, you have a lot of sun, but also the shades. The whole house is just beautiful and shows a great taste in architecture and design. Breakfast was our best time of the day thanks to Toulla who takes excellent care of her guests : fresh fruit every day, Greek yoghurt with local honey, orange juice, apple juice, coffee and/or thee, fresh bread, cheese, ... Plenty, fresh and tasty! Since the B&B is not situated in the center of town, you would need to hire a car, but it’s only a 10 minutes drive to Limassol. Limassol and this B&B are located perfectly for daytrips : the Troodos mountains, the sea, Limassol and Paphos are all within an our drive and well worth a visit! Conclusion : we would definitely come back to stay here if we return to Cyprus, we would not consider any other place. Toulla offered us just what we look for when staying at a B&B : we felt completely at home and relaxed, we had all the comfort we need and more in quiet and beautifull surroundings, but still close to several interesting places to visit. Thank you very much Toulla for your hospitality, we wish you and your family the very best!

This was our first visit to Cyprus. We were looking for a peaceful B&B away from the busy coastal resorts and Villa Retreat looked as though it could be the place for us. Speaking to Toulla on the phone was enough to convince us and we were not disappointed: a wonderful house in beautiful surroundings, well situated for exploration in all directions, very friendly service and an ideal start to the day with a delicious breakfast on the terrace. A most enjoyable week.

This splendid geusthouse, surrounded by a beautiful garden, was briantlly designed by the owners themselves. I spent in Villa Retreat several peaceful, pleasant days, enjoying the owner's generous and warm hospitality. Unforgettable.

After spending a long time scouring the internet for places to stay in Cyprus I finally stumbled across this treasure - and wasn't disappointed. Toulla and Derek were very welcoming - despite Toulla having to stay up until 3am to give us the key to our room! The house itself is stunning, perfect for a romantic getaway, and has all the amenities you need if you want to just relax on holiday without having to explore too much. We, however, wanted to explore all of Southern Cyprus and having hired a car were pleased with the location of the B&B - conveniently located close to Lemesos and the Troodos mountains but also a relatively easy drive to all the other major cities/attractions (no further than an hr and a half to 2 hr drive). It was only the second time that my partner has stayed in a B&B and he is now a definite convert!

Riccardo e Micaela

We’ve spent 5 most wonderful days in May at the villa Retreat. Our expectations were exceeded even though they were high to start with. The house is absolutely beautiful, we couldn’t stop noticing details we loved until the last day of our stay. Beside the atrium with the pool which is the highlight of the house, there are many lovely outdoor spaces where you can enjoy the sun as it descends in the sky. Having our breakfast (delicious and beautifully served, by the way) on the terrace under the mild morning sun was a perfect start to every day. The place is a real treat for nature lovers, starting from its location at the outskirts of the Troodos Mountains, 10 min walking distance from a nearby lake, to the beautiful garden and details such as swallow’s nests in the atrium and a tadpole pond in the backyard. We’ve made friends with two furry members of the family, golden retrievers who used to follow us around, probably because they felt we enjoyed their company. The location of the villa is very convenient for going on day trips to both Troodos and the seaside- we are very happy to have experienced both. And we are even more happy for not booking a resort! And the best of all- our hosts. Wonderful people who made us feel welcome and relaxed from the first moment. They maintain the estate and the rooms beautifully, have a lot of helpful information about the Island and are really considerate and pleasant. They have provided all we needed for our one year old- the car seat, cot, high chair, baby bathtub and we didn’t even ask for any of that. Getting to know the Bruce family and to spend some time with them has been a real pleasure. We are definitely hoping to go back again someday.

My partner and I had the pleasure of spending a week in Cyprus (March 2012). We fell in love with the beautiful weather and amazing Mediterranean scenery, however the entire experience was galvanised by our wonderful accommodation. The villa is nestled in on the outskirts of a small village and surrounded by hills. It was easy to get to from the airport, and there was a convenient store nearby. The hosts were incredibly friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable with their warm, home away from home, atmosphere. The food was delicious and the service was of a very high standard. All in all a great experience and would certainly recommend to anyone looking for a rural Cypriot respite.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Villa Retreat. Waking up to a view of the nearby valley and mountains was breathtaking, and being able to take peaceful walks to the surrounding lake and village was very relaxing. The location had a lovely feeling of rural quietness, without feeling too far removed from everything that Cyprus has to offer. Breakfast was nice and fresh and well portioned, and the host family were very pleasant and knowledgable about the surrounding area (they suggested a restaurant Piatakia which is well worth a visit!). The only con I can think of is that public transport in the area is pretty limited, so hiring a car to visit the various attractions is probably necessary (though I think that this is probably the case anywhere in Cyprus). Really enjoyed my visit and would stay again next time I'm in Cyprus.
