The Blackberry River Inn

538 Greenwoods Road Route 44 West , Norfolk, CT 06058 USA (Show map)

The Blackberry River Inn is a converted Colonial mansion built in 1763. The Inn lies nestled in the foothills of the Berkshire Mountains on 27 lush scenic acres. Restored to its original elegance, the Colonial Williamsburg buildings house 14 guest rooms and suites, all with private bathrooms, high speed Wi-Fi throughout the property. We are proud of our breakfasts--as we are a B&B. Many of our suites and deluxe rooms have working wood burning fireplaces. Rooms have ceiling fans. Our breakfast feature organic and locally produced foods, and everything is made to order. We use organic free-range eggs, all our dairy products are organic, our maple syrup is real and right here from Norfolk, our jams and jellies are from a nice farm (Twin Pines) in Thomaston, CT. Breakfast is served from 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. in our breakfast room (in the main house). Our outdoor pool (unheated) is open throughout the summer into the fall. The Blackberry River Inn is a place where the old meets the new. From common areas include sitting parlors and a cherry paneled library, all with fireplaces, to the lovely breakfast room. There are 2 suites and 2 deluxe rooms in the main house (built in 1763). Our Cottage offers a king bed, Jacuzzi tub, shower, standing fireplace, AC (for the summer) and a very private setting. The Inn is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Cozy B&B in the NW CT Hills

4.2 on May 14, 2018

We booked the Inn rather than drive home after a concert at Infinity Hall in Norfolk and were very satisfied with our choice and our host/innkeeper TW. He was on hand to greet us, personally show us to our room and then cook a wonderful breakfast that included his world renowned Raised Waffles! The main house was charming and rustic and furnished with many antiques. Our second-floor room in the adjacent carriage house had a queen sized bed; colonial styling; and an ensuite bathroom complete with toiletries.

A Beautiful First Look at Connecticut

5 on June 05, 2015

We booked the Inn prior to leaving Canada, we departed Quebec City via car and this was our 2nd night and our first visit to Connecticut, was a wonderful experience. Pamela, the Innkeeper was a delight, helpful, well-informed, exactly what was needed. We arrived late in the evening and she kindly booked us a restaurant in Norfolk and got us settled. The Inn itself is brilliant dating back to the 1700's. Breakfast was delicious, rooms are comfortable, folks are great, I recommend this Inn.

Historic and Beautiful!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this gorgeous, historic Inn. The unbelievable antiques, super accommodating staff and delicious breakfast all make this a preferred place to stay.

Loved it! Best B&B ever!

We truly enjoyed our stay at the Blackberry River Inn! Coming for a race at Limerock Park it was not easy to find a suitable place in the area. The Blackberry Inn absolutely exceeded our expectations - incredible service, very nice rooms furnished with antiques, lots of parking space (which is important when you come with a big trailer) and probably the best breakfast I ever had! Thank you Blackberry, we will come back soon!

About the innkeepers

I have been in the hospitality business since high school, including graduating from the Cornell University School of Hotel Administration. It's a "job" I am passionate about and in this case allows me also to have my German Shepherd companion, Tabu, with me. I have lived and worked (in hospitality) in 12 countries. My first name really is (just the initials) T.W.
